This is one of the more unique, violent, and wildly dumb-fun Fear Street books that I have read. However, a lack of structure, and not establishing the main plot until over halfway through the book really brings this one down for me.
You would think this book was sponsored by “Evian” from how much it’s mentioned! Anyways I enjoyed this and I really liked the little twist at the end LMAO that last page is classic. The New! Fear street books are all amazing, and this one is no exception. It’s def cheesy and stupid at points, but that’s what I love about it
The Bad Girl is the 4th and final book from the New Fear Street book series! It was a good book but I will say my least favorite one from the four ( and that is only because the others are a bit better.) It blew my mind just how all the books were so good and it made it harder for me to rate which ones were better.
I will say that even if this book is my least favorite of the series it is by far the most unique one from the 4. That is because it deals more with a more paranormal zombie-like theme, that kind of reminded me a lot of Pet Sementary, which was really cool. The theme was definitely unique and that was a nice change from the other four I had previously read. Also opposite from the other books compared to the other characters that were great..this book really does a good job in making you truly dislike these protagonists (they were more like antagonists) it stays true to the title the main character Dawn is really bad and a true mean girl along with her best friend Jan. They together make this formula to bring back things from the dead by mixing a bunch of chemicals in science lab just to bully this girl they are always mean to and like to tease named Cindy. Cindy is the opposite of them and unlike them really likes science and in my opinion really doesn’t deserve any of their unfair treatment..she just wants to belong. So in order to tease her in saying they do have a big project for the upcoming science fair (which they don’t) they start mixing all those dangerous chemicals and that is when their lives change for the worse. I have to admit that the way the formula to bring things from the dead made everything more fictitious but I guess it’s the only reasonable way they could have done it, so I can’t complain.
To add more about the personalities of these characters apart from being mean girls they also think they can get away with anything and manipulate people and even think they can control their teachers. The main character is actually also a big cheater and lies and plays with almost every guy in school she can. That was definitely something new. The worse thing is that she is very proud of it and instead of there being character development, these girls bad actions (decisions) become worse and worse as the book progresses. There are moments Dawn tells herself she will stop and acknowledges she is doing bad but doesn’t really end up doing better. It’s hard for her to do the right thing in many occasions and together with her friend end up in a life changing event where they end up covering up for each other and think they will get away with it. They are very selfish and only care about themselves, but soon their lies are too many to hide.
I won’t give out any spoilers but I really liked the ending it was quite a life lesson these characters got. I never once felt bad for these two friends on the contrary I felt bad for the people that surrounded them the two only ended up hurting with their bad actions. That is why I like how the story ended even though I would have loved to have known more about what actually ended up happening to some characters but I still liked the end result. It shows that every bad action has it’s consequences, and you can be bad but that can’t last long without things turning around and going very badly for you. Overall, it was a such a good read! and I am happy to say that I have finally read all the books from the New Fear Street series! :) I extremely recommend reading all the 4 books if you haven’t! Like I said there is not one single bad book in the series! It was definitely one of a kind experience that just grew my love for Fear Street books and I honestly can’t wait to read more! :)
Get ready for another wacky and over the top Fear Street book. This one was the last Fear Street book from the 90's( I think) and also suspect it was not written by Stine due to the style of the writing. Two best friends accidentally make a potion that seemingly reanimates the dead. First a frog, then a dog and then...a human! Dun dun dun. Think Pet Semetary with a dash of the movie Jawbreaker. There are so many over the top moments from this book. One being when Cindy (the dead girl that was brought back to life after the two besties Jan and Dawn accidentally ran her over) kills Dawn's boyfriend and then tells the girls that she knows they won't go to the police because they would not be able to tell the cops that they ran over a girl and brought her back to life...? Ok, so could the girls not just go and be like this chick killed this dude and leave out the hit and run part? I mean, would the cops actually believe Cindy if she told them she was brought back to life? (face palm). The girls try to kill Cindy throughout the book (again) and fail each time. There is also this weird thing about Evian water scattered throughout the book. So much so that I was wondering is this some sort of product placement? Even with the tie in at the end, the Evian water being mentioned every few pages seemed really strange. So, the twist at the end is that right before Cindy dies for real for real, she drops some of the formula that brought her back to life in Cindy and Jan's Evian water and leaves them a note telling them so. *Gasp* So, what is the formula going to do to them considering that they are, you know..like, not dead? And I guess we will never know. I would assume nothing unless I missed something at the end. I wish I could remember more of the over the top stuff but just do yourself a favor and go read this trainwreck.

As soon as we were introduced to our two main characters I knew I wasn’t going to like them. One was sneaking around behind her boyfriend’s back, and both of them were just terrible humans who found bullying entertaining. But the point was to dislike them, which made the classic R.L. Stine ending that much better!
This was not my favorite of the New Fear Street series, but I still did enjoy it, especially that ending! The main characters were just terrible, and for a minute there I thought they were going to have some character development... but nope. So I’m glad they got the ending they did. Lol. I also enjoyed the supernatural element of bringing things back from the dead. That’s always fun... to read about 😆 But overall, this was a pretty solid series in the Fear Street chronicles! I liked it!
The Fear Street connection: This guy Carl lives there and had a party. They also went to Fear Lake.
This was awesome. It has quite different protagonists than usual Fear Street books, as the characters themselves are "bad", I mean in the way that Dawn is a cheater and she knows it and doesn't care. It did start off a bit teeny with all the schoolgirl bitchiness etcc. but it developed into an interesting storyline. I liked the idea of them creating a potion which brought things back to life and wanted to see how it went about doing that.
Cindy turned into a superbitch halfway through the story, the title originally made me think it was named after the first person narrative, however it would more likely to be about Cindy after finishing it.
That ending was unexpected, for me anyway at least, I would not have guessed that to happen. Really interesting, I wish I had read this when I was younger but did not see it available anywhere.
Referring to my review of R.L. Stine's "Truth or Dare" in that there's cliches: this review consists of them, too. I'm imagining a CinemaSins counter bell chime each time a cliche is repeated. Terrified me when I first read it at twelve--ding! Went back, wondering how I'd react now--ding! While I remembered some of it clearly, most of it was new to me all over again. That was nice. The writing was more vivid here than in "Truth or Dare." I think everyone involved was a jerk, and another reviewer on this site points out that it was probably intentional. It was a way to change things up, for the main characters to know they are jerks. I did not like hanging around these jerks, though. I'm glad I got to read it again so I could react to it as an adult--ding! Review cliche count: Three.
I borrowed this book from my sister’s closet sometime around 2006. It was one of the first books to really kick off my love of reading. I’ve spent the last five or so years trying to remember the name of it, off and on. I was thrilled when I realized I’d finally found it during my trillionth google search. This book is super nostalgic for me. It’s definitely written in a way that’s for teenagers, and can be pretty cheesy at times, but it was great to finally get to reread it.
It has been ages since I read this one, and I forgot how much I liked it! The quality of Fear Street books started to seriously decline towards the end, but this is one of the last original ones and it's actually pretty good.
I glad they got what they deserved at the end. I knew the water bottle sharing is going to be a huge part of the story. That was pretty funny and neat but what's the formula going to do to them? Kill them?
Dawn and Jan inadvertently come up with a formula that brings animals - and people - back from the dead, but they don't come back quite right (do they ever?). It's a fun adventure, but I'm surprised there are only 4 books in the "New Fear Street" line.
While I never read any other Fear Street novels (and now regret this, seeing as how hard they are to find), I loved that RL Stine had written a more mature version of the Goosebumps series. At the time I found the two main characters to be ridiculously out there and superficial, but now that I'm older I can relate to these characters more than the 10 year old boy that comes into possession of a haunted mask.
I loved the book when I read it as a child, and now as an almost-adult I see it totally differently. It's still scary, but now I can't help but make connections between Pet Sematary, and various horror movies that I've seen over the years.
The cliffhanger ending with the main characters accidentally drinking their own evil potion was fucking amazing.

I always loved reading R L Stine growing up and I felt it was time to finish reading all the Fear Street titles. I thought this tale had an interesting premise and the twist was fabulous.
