A career in logistics offered me the opportunity to travel to many beautiful locations in America, and I revisit them in my romantic novels.

I write alpha males and kick-ass women who weave their way through life and its pitfalls.

I live in Texas, love sunshine, children’s laughter, sugar (human and granulated), and researching for my heroes and heroines.

From the beginning of “Someone to Watch Over Me” it was evident that Jerrie Alexander is a talented writer. Her words sucked me into Stacey’s story and the mystery immediately. Why does Stacey have nightmares about men with knives? We quickly learn that she‘s hiding from a man named Ray Simmons. Stacey goes back home to start over and lands a night job serving beer at a bar. I instantly fell for Stacey and her witty, sarcastic personality. Her dialogue, as well as the dialogue for all the other characters, is very convincing. She’s a well thought-out character. All of the characters, even the minor ones are developed so well that I could clearly picture them as real people without any effort.

During her second night at the bar, Stacey encounters Cash Butler, an old fling who broke her heart when he ditched her to join the Army. But why he left isn’t what she thinks. Sparks fly immediately as the past comes back to haunt them.

There’s a lot of suspense in this story with a stalker and murders as well as heat and romance.

I did notice a few minor spelling errors, but not enough that it affected my reading or enjoyment of the story. Actually, I couldn’t read this story fast enough, and I did not expect the end.

At one point, Cash’s name became Ty. I’m surprised that wasn’t caught during editing, but I know how it is as an author. There’s been times when I’ve mixed up character names. But that little slip didn’t even bother me.

If you've read and loved this author's prior works with sizzling sex, heroines who are in danger and could use a little support and strong heroes at their side every step of the way, then Someone to Watch Over Me is a super condensed version of her usual suspense novels but no less exciting.

Stacey may have been scared and in trouble, but I admired her courage for trying to retain her independence. Cash may have broken her heart once upon a time, but she didn't try to avoid him at every turn or show animosity towards him.

Cash wasn't shy about showing how much she still affected him. He was sweet, a bit more reserved than the man she used to know. There are hints that something happened to drive them apart, and they're both operating under false assumptions. Their chemistry was palpable from the moment they were reunited. It wasn't a scorching heat but a nice slow burn born out of both hesitancy, history and lust.

For a novella, I thought the characters were well developed. I didn't have a problem understanding who they were in the past and what molded them into the people they were in the present. The plot was good with the usual high levels of passion, suspense and danger. The story kept up a good pace from beginning to end, and in typical Jerrie Alexander fashion, there was a plot twist that I never saw coming.

This book is set in Texas, and I think Texas is a place of awesome possibilities! Stacey has returned to her hometown, nearly broke and scared of someone. She applies at a local bar, desperate for cash. She knows the owner from her past, and he decides to give her a chance and hires her on.

Things heat up dramatically when we meet Cash Butler.....

Cash and Stacey have a past, one that didn't end well. Her rich father had put an end to their relationship in a dreadful way, forcing Cash to join the army to avoid further problems. Now he's purchased the place she grew up in, and they are just as interested in each other as they were before. It scares her, though, and she ends up backing away.

Someone is watching her, and not in a good way. Everything changes when a persistent, would-be suitor is found dead. Stacey reaches out to Cash, terrified her stalker has found her. Will he be able to save her?

This is the second book I've read by Jerrie Alexander, and I'm definitely a loyal fan! Her writing is well-plotted, creative, and engrossing. Someone To Watch Over Me is an exciting, five-star book that I ended up reading straight through. Cash is the perfect male. Strong, independent, and knows what he wants. This is romance at its finest! Keep up the great work, Jerrie! I can't wait to read your next book.

This is a good old fashioned love story with a twist. It is a short story but not without a strong plot.

The story is based around a character named Stacey McKinney, after leaving her hometown she returns several years layer to flee a stalker, when she returns home she is reunited with Cash Butler the only man she has ever loved whom left her broken hearted.
When Stacey is reunited with Cash all of her old feelings are stirred up but can she trust him not to break her heart again?

I do not wish to spoil this story but I will say that this is a beautiful love story with twists and turns along the way. There
is also a darker side which makes the story thrilling, there is a lot of story packed into this.

The characters in the story are very well developed and I think I may have even developed a crush on Cash Butler!

I would recommend this story if you want a light, easy to read story that keeps you on your toes.

I have rated this story 4 stars but I think it's realistically a 4.5 stars.
I will definitely look out for more work from this author.

I can hardly catch my breath! I just finished reading Jerrie Alexander’s short story, “Someone to Watch Over Me.” My goodness, what a wild ride. All the tension, danger, fear, suspense, grit, and love I’ve come to expect from Ms. Alexander, I found in this story.
The pace was withering, like an energizer bunny on speed, and yet still the author managed to give us glimpses into her characters and who they are at their core. Star-crossed lovers who’ve been hurt, but find a way to reach beyond that for a second chance at a full life. The author doesn’t disappoint the reader with her depiction of evil. Even if you’re not a short story reader, you want to make sure to check out “Someone to Watch Over Me.” In fact, you can be sure that anything Ms. Alexander writes, I’ll be reading.

Even though it was on the shorter side you still got it all in this romantic suspense. A pair of star-crossed lovers who are reunited back in there home town, a stalker ex who seems to have found her when the bodies start piling up and personal items go missing. Pay attention while reading cause all is not how it seems.

Short but packed full of awesomeness. It's also a little less spicy for those who don't like too much sex getting in the way of a good story.

Stacey is on the run from her obsessive ex. She's made it back to her hometown and living hand to mouth, a far cry from her privileged upbringing. She's now working two jobs, including at the local bar and thinks things are quietening down and then....Cash strolls back into her life!

Cash loved Stacey when they were kids but knew her father wasn't keen on his daughter sullying herself with the "poor white trash" and pulled some awful strings to oust Cash from her life, whilst making it seem that Cash did the running.

But when he figures out what is happening, can Stacey count on her newly found knight in shining armour to keep her safe? Will he really be able to watch over her and keep her safe?

OMG there are layers on layers of suspense in this. Just when you think you have it sorted in your head, BLAM another twist in the story gets you. I prevaricated so much trying to figure out who the stalker was and I did not see the ending coming!

Jerrie always rights a superb story, interlaced suspense, intrigue and romance (with a wisecrack or too thrown in) and I have loved every single one of her books (in fact I have now read them all!!) I read this in just about lunch time, but I am a speed reader. Cash is alpha to the core but with a good dose of chivalry and knowing when to step back thrown in!

This novella was an entirely enjoyable read. It was my first exposure to Jerrie Alexander's writing and I find her quite skilled. It isn't easy to create multi-dimensional characters and strong back story in a short story, but this author really succeeds. The primary couple and their second chance love story was engaging and the addition of stalking, murder and suspense and passion was well plotted and well paced. I especially liked the slow, steady, build up of romantic tension and chemistry; it balanced out the suspense.
If you are looking for a good balance of romance and suspense, likeable characters and a well plotted mystery with twists you won't expect - give this one a look.

Someone to watch over me is a really short but kind of interesting read.
The romance between the characters isn't much because as I said..the book is really short.
I couldn't really feel their chemistry so I was kinda struggling with that.
Plus, with the suspense part...half of it was okay..the other half failed utterly.
I mean, I get when authors want to write stuff that the readers cannot possibly get. But the thing is, the beauty in that is the reader cannot guess even though the answer is there staring in his face. In plain sight, as some would say.
But what really frustrates me is when readers write stuff that's so totally outta imagination that it isn't even funny. That a person would never ever guess.
So yes, it was okay but kinda disappointing too.

Stacey McKinney really does need Someone to Watch Over Her when she returns to her hometown to escape a stalker in her big city life. Cash Butler, now a retired Army Ranger is also home after ten years serving in the Army and he is ready and willing to step to protect Stacey.

After two others are killed, a rattlesnake incident, her apartment trashed, missing personal items, Stacey is ready to turn to Cash to help her feel safe. The problems from their past are brought to light, faced as adults and I love happy endings.

This short book started out good. In fact, the first 80% or so was good. But the ending! I appreciate plot twists, and enjoy a surprise bad guy... But it needs to be believable. This ending just came out if left field and made absolutely no sense. If the author would have just stuck with the more obvious ending, I may have given this at least a 4 star rating. But this mess of an ending ruined the whole story for me. Just my opinion!

Jerrie Alexander knows how to keep her readers in suspense through the entire book. This is the type of book that is hard to put down. A short story, but was well written. Liked the suspense, the characters and the plot. Was very surprised at the ending. I never expected that. Can’t wait to read Jerrie’s other books.

This is an over 18 story. There is only one love scene but it is steamy! Very well told suspense and the romance is spun in just right. I have read Alexander's other work, including The Green Eyed Doll and The Last Execution and I can say that this is another hit. Quick read and an enjoyable book.

Great Book!

This was a fantastic quick read and just the thing to get me over a book hangover. Stacey’s father managed to keep her and Cash apart ten years ago and now that a stalker is after Stacey, can he do the same? Read this book to find out.

Stacey and Caleb were teenage sweethearts, then he disappeared from her life without a word.
Now both are back in Oak Hill, Texas. She's fleeing a stalker, he left the army after a leg wound failed to completely heal.
Stacey is worried that she may not have hidden her tracks quite well enough ...
It's fairly well written but there is very little to distinguish it from the myriad of books with a similar plot.
The end is written at breakneck speed compared to the rest of 'Someone to Watch Over Me.'

Suspense loving readers will love taking a trip back to 2013 and reading SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME by Jerrie Alexander.
We meet Stacey, a young woman on the run from a dangerous past. She’s returned to her hometown to escape and hide only to discover the one man who broke her heart has also returned. Neither wants to start a romance but the inevitable happens and Cash is forced to do whatever he can to get Stacey back.
There’s lots of emotional scenes between the two main characters. Both suffer from different forms of PTSD which they both recognize in the other. This contrast of “disorders” makes for a good psychological read as Stacey and Cash have to learn how to deal with each other. Add into the mix a mysterious stalker and a manipulative father and you have a great suspense novel.
It’s definitely worth checking out and I highly recommend it!

Stacey McKinney felt like she had nowhere to go but back home, the one place she thought the man who was stalking her would never find her. Stacey had no idea she would run into Cash Butler though, the one man who broke her heart in her youth.
Cash can’t believe Stacey is here in town, he has come a long way from the boy from the wrong side of the tracks building a career as an Army Ranger and now owning the ranch Stacey grew up on. He can only hope that the chemistry they once had is still there, but Stacey is hiding something and seems determined to handle the problem on her own.

Goodness, purple prose galore. Everything...and I do mean everything...was written in such over the top superlatives that there was no place to go if something interesting did happen. Who needs to bother making love when a simple touch on the arm is like getting struck by lightening and a kiss turns your emotions into a runaway train racing downhill out of control...seriously, when you begin over the top where can you go that it doesn't wear thin? The whodunnit part makes no sense whatsoever to anyone with a modicum of reality contact.

Just ok. Used the same old tired plot - rich dad doesn't like poor boy hanging around his daughter and so scares/pays him to go away and daughter doesn't know why he just left her. Of course no one will talk about it 10 years later (its always 10 years!!!) and the misunderstanding continues to drive the sad, overplayed plot.

This is a book I downloaded and read because it was free on Kindle and I needed to kill some time.

For what it was, a short contemporary romance, it was okay. The characters were basic but didn't have any overly annoying habits/traits. I appreciate the author trying to add some plot twists towards the end but I'm not really sure it benefited the story.

A novella of 98 pages with a lot of action is usually something I enjoy. However when, within the first few pages, the author forgets who died and names someone else, I wonder how well the aiuthor read her own work.

A published author who writes run-on sentences and her editors don't catch them also annoys me.

There was just way too much going on in this story for only being 98 pages. I felt like every possible plot twist was thrown in and none of it really felt like it belonged together or totally made sense. It was a very forgettable read.

The book started out good, and then the last 3/4ths of the book felt very rushed. The ending was a little off...I like being surprised at who the bad guy is, but that was a little unbelievable.
