Victoria Pade is the bestselling author of numerous contemporary romances, six historical romances and two mystery novels. She began her writing career after leaving college to have her first daughter. That daughter was seven years old and there was a second daughter, before Victoria had her first book accepted for publication. That novel and the three that followed it were historical romances. But the exit of her husband and the urge to do more contemporary writing that explored the kinds of problems she was facing inspired a switch.

This was the perfect romance. The story was slow, and sweet, and allowed time for the friendship between Dallas and Nina to blossom into love. Dallas was a single dad to three boys. Nina was pregnant by choice. She wanted a baby so she got artificial inseminated. Nina was driving in a blizzard when she slid off the road, almost hitting Dallas head on. Dallas stayed with her, and whispered words of comfort when she thought she was going into early labor. Dallas and Nina knew each other’s family hated one another, but never knew why. They just knew they were supposed to be enemies. Can love bring two families together that have hated each other for decades? You will have to read and find out. This story brought tears to my eyes a few times. I thought it was a very sweet, emotional book that pulled on my heart strings.

Last of the Mavericks series, in which Dallas Traub is not looking forward to Christmas with the three boys his ex-wife left the previous year. When he nearly runs into another vehicle in the middle of a blizzard, however, his life starts looking up: not because he wants it to, but rather because he has to set aside his problems and get very pregnant Nina Crawford to the hospital, fearful that she may be in labor or bleeding or maybe even both.

Turns out she's not, but she is a breath of fresh air, even if in an unorthodox way when she tells him she's pregnant because she wants a baby and has decided she's not going to wait around for a man. Instead she goes the artificial insemination route, which explains why she's now waiting for the blessed birth of a baby on her own.

But Dallas and Nina begin to see each other in lights different from their initial impressions--including the long-standing feud between their families. His little boys think Nina is neat and a lot happier than their mother was, but will the rest of the Traub's and Crawford's see their attraction as anything other than an abomination or will the birth of Nina's baby serve as a conduit to understanding and acceptance?

This was a wonderful conclusion to the Rust Creek Saga. Can the Traubs and Crawfords put aside their differences for this romance. Dallas had his heart broken when his wife left him and his three boys on Christmas last year. Nina decided she didn’t need the perfect man to have a baby. During a snow storm Dallas saves Nina and this romance begins. I Also enjoyed how the series showed how hard it can be for a community to recover after a natural disaster.

This is a sweet story, book 6 of 6 in the Montana Mavericks: Rust Creek Cowboys series. Some characters from books 1-5 make their way into this story. I loved it.

Good book. The feud between the Traubs and Crawfords has been going on for so long that no one really knows anymore how it started. When Dallas came to Nina's rescue during a blizzard-induced car wreck, it opened the door to a peacemaking of sorts. Dallas has been walking around in a funk ever since his wife deserted him and his sons the day after Christmas the previous year. Seeing Nina and her determination to make the best of her life has started to bring him out of it, even if she is a Crawford. There's something about Dallas that is causing Nina to take notice, even if he is older than she is. Can they each overcome their issues and the long-standing family feud to forge a truce of their own?

Nina spent four years in a relationship with an older man. He was very set in his ways and she found herself making all the adjustments in their relationship. When he told her he didn't want kids that was the last straw and she broke things off. Not wanting to wait any longer for a family of her own, Nina went the artificial insemination route and is now quite pregnant. She is open to finding love again, but she is determined to make it on her terms. She is very independent and content to be a single parent if that's the way things work out. When Dallas comes to her rescue after she wrecks her car during the blizzard she is drawn to his calmness when she is worried about her baby. She also notices his good looks in a way she hadn't before. Nina sees his struggles as he tries to make the holiday a good one for his sons and she wants to help. She knows getting involved with a Traub is probably a bad idea but she can't help herself. The age difference also worries her, for fear that she could end up falling for someone just as rigid as her ex. I loved seeing the way that she showed up at Dallas's with the Christmas tree and decorations as a way to thank him for her rescue, standing up to her brother to do so. As the days went on she fought her growing feelings but couldn't resist being with him whenever possible. I also enjoyed the way she was able to see the differences between Dallas and her ex. Opening herself up to him at the end was scary for her but she accepted the possibilities in a way she hadn't before. I loved how she realized at the end that she trusted him and their love would see them through any changes they needed to make.

Dallas is still recovering from his wife's desertion and their divorce. The holidays are especially hard and he's having a hard time finding any Christmas spirit. Meeting Nina and seeing the way she has taken control of her life is a bit of a kick in the seat for him. He is attracted to her but wants to resist it. He worries that her youth will create the same kind of discontent that his ex suffered from and he can't go through that again. He can't stay away from her and, in spite of their families' feud, discovers that she is changing his life. I loved the way that he stood up to his family over his friendship with her. Including her in so many things brought his family closer to accepting their relationship. I really enjoyed seeing all the things that they did together and how they opened Dallas's eyes to how different Nina really was. I loved seeing him with her baby at the end and how he loved her like she was his own.

I really liked seeing how the romance between Dallas and Nina had an effect on both families. I found it interesting to see how differently the two families behaved. Dallas's family was cautious and disapproving at first, but were accepting of Nina as they got to know her and see what a difference she made to Dallas and his sons. Nina's family was really obnoxious about the feud pretty much throughout the book. They were very vocal with their attitudes and pretty nasty about it. I loved seeing Nina stand up to her brother over the Christmas tree. She also told her mom to get over it if she wanted to be able to spend time with her new granddaughter because Nina wasn't going to put up with negativity around the kids. All in all a very good conclusion to this Montana Mavericks cycle.

If I was asked to describe this book in a single word it would have to be 'Perfect!' It was one of the sweetest love stories I have read and I will be re-reading again soon. Victoria Pade is a fantastic wordsmith and I love reading her books. It was so great to read a romance where the couple did not break up around 75%-80% and end up heartbroken until the author brings them back together in the last three or four pages. This was so refreshing and I love Rust Creek and all the hunky cowboys.

Dallas Traub is a heartbroken, divorced rancher whose wife left him on Christmas of last year without a word. He found a letter telling him she ran off with one of the ranch hands and divorce papers giving him full custody of their three sons. They haven't heard from her since. Dallas is really down as Christmas is approaching and his sadness is seeping its way into his boys but he just can't seem to pull himself out of the doldrums.

Shopkeeper, Nina Crawford, broke it off with her boyfriend of four years because he would not commit to marriage and a family in the future. He was ten years older and she thinks it is the age difference that tore them apart...it is not IMO. She had a plan to begin having children in her early to mid twenties and just because she doesn't have a man in her life she won't let anything stop her. She is now eight months pregnant thanks to a sperm bank when she had a car wreck because of white-out conditions and after awhile Dallas Traub came along and rescued her. They hit it off immediately and he took her to the hospital to get checked out.

I must mention that their two family's had been in a feud for more than a hundred years or so and no one really remembers why but each generation was taught to hate the other family. Something like the Hatfields and McCoys. Both Dallas and Nina thought the feud was ridiculous and they want it to end.

This is just a beautiful story that left me with that real feel-good feeling. I highly recommend you read this treasure. The characters were well-developed and the three boys were a highlight. There was also a lot of growth in all of the characters and I totally fell in love with Dallas, Nina and the children.

This book had everything in it that I don't like about romance . Despite that, it was so well written it allowed me to ignore the things I didn't like. That's is why I ranked it amazing. I was actually able to get into the story despite things that would have me rolling my eyes and turn me off to the book in general. I plan to read more from this author in the future.

Nice, soft and squishy story. There Was conflict, but it was easily resolved--which I suppose made it more like the real life I know. But then, my family would never have gotten into a generations-long feud to start with. Maybe that's why I like the angsty books, because I'm lucky enough to have so little in my life. :)

"Caught in a Hatfield-McCoy-style family feud, Pade's co-stars show strength in the face of disdain in this Rust Creek Falls holiday romance that's the right mix of disaster and small-town fortitude". (RT Book Reviews, rated 4 1/2 stars)

I was really not impressed with this book. I don't read a lot of romance, to be fair, but was wanting to see what the hype over serials was all about. So I closed my eyes and pointed and got this one.
