I was told off as a child for making up stories—little did I know that one day I’d earn my living by writing them!
To the horror of my parents, I left school at sixteen and held a bewildering variety of jobs: I was a London DJ (in the now-trendy Primrose Hill), a decorator and a singer. After that I became a cook, a photographer and, eventually, a nurse. I waitressed in the south of France, drove an ambulance in Australia, saw lots of beautiful sights but could never settle down. Everywhere I went I felt like a square peg—until one day I started writing again and then everything just fell into place. I felt like Cinderella must have when the glass slipper fit!
Today, I have the best job in the world, writing passionate romances for Harlequin. I like writing stories which are sexy and fast-paced, yet packed full of emotion—stories that readers will identify with, laugh and cry along with.
My interests are many and varied—chocolate and music, fresh flowers and bubble baths, films, cooking and trying to keep my home from looking burglarized! Simple pleasures—you can’t beat them!
I live in Winchester, one of the most stunning cities in the world, but don’t take my word for it—come see for yourself! I regularly visit London and Paris. Oh, and I love hearing from my readers all over the world…so I think it’s over to you!
Very annoying heroine. I don't like my heroines to be too feisty or independent! She was also mean to the poor hero who changed his whole lifestyle for her. Most importantly she didn't grovel at the end and I wanted her to grovel so badly. She didn't deserve the hero!
Hero was a big softie not an alpha hero at all. I like my heroes dark and a bit cruel but this hero was unmanned and totally pussy whipped by our bitchy heroine. What happened to my favorite author? HP is my favorite line but lately it fails spectacularly!
Didn’t like the premise - Sara being dragged away to be forcibly married and Suleiman going along with such an awful act. Since forced marriages do happen, I really don’t think making that a key part of the story and having the hero believe this is an okay thing to do - was in any way ‘romantic’. I found Sara difficult to like at times, especially once they were back in London. Why Suleiman wanted her, was a mystery! But It takes a good writer to creat characters who are so real!
Defiant in The Desert This is a short story for me but in reality I had a difficult time following. Things took forever to happen and I wanted more from this couple, they barely spent time together and we can clearly see both needed to talk more about their past and share some secrets. I understood the reasons from Sara to run away, because it’s completely unfair to a single girl just to marry a guy because her father made a couple of mistakes, but my worst problem was the fact her family never appeared to talk and he brother has a normal life and never stopped to visit her.
I liked Suleiman better, because he chose to follow a different life and he still has friends and a normal everyday routine. Yes, bad things happen but he chose to move on and try to be happy. He also chose not to betray his ruler and that was a great deal for me. They are actually great together, but they need some shrink help fast, plus talk more.
The Shiekh’s Undoing For some reason I love sheikh books, these are my favorite different romances. They are almost not contemporary because the reality and the life is completely opposition from the occidental, so it’s like a fantasy for me and I loved watching Tariq discover his secretary is actually more than he hoped for. I liked this couple and we can clearly see that Tariq wanted more for his life, but circumstances and golddiggers make things difficult for him and the only person he really trust is Isobel. They studied together and that for me made things more special.
Tariq needed someone to see him completely and Isobel was perfect because she knew him before all the fame and money. He was just a kid when they met and she had a crush on him for ages. Their conversations and moments together showed how deep their love could go real fast.
I can't put my finger on why, but I had a hard time connecting emotionally to the female leads in these stories. The books were evenly paced and well plotted with beautifully detailed settings. The premises were strong, the male leads compelling, I just wasn't as emotionally attached to the females as I would have liked. Personal issue I'm sure, as I have read other things from Sharon Kendrick happily. Perhaps I wasjust reading on an off day. If you enjoy romance set in the desert, handsome Sheikhs, and happily ever afters - these fit the bill. *I received my copy from NetGalley.com in exchange for an honest review.

Could not finish Defiant in the Desert. Felt disconnected from the story. The romance fell flat. This was complete fantasy sheikh romance so I was disappointed the heroine wasn't a virgin since everything about this story was fantasy. Throwing in the heroine prior only sexual experience was awful...annoying plot device to avoid heroine being a virgin...that's lazy...just make the heroine be a virgin already. Reality has nothing to do with sheikh romances anyway.
Book 1: 4 stars. Enjoyable story. I liked that the engagement to the Sultan did not drag on through the whole book. I liked the characters and the plot was decent. I did not enjoy this story as much as I did book 3 (haven't read #2) which I read first.
Book 2: 4 stars. I liked this story as well. I had trouble buying the knowing each other for 5 years and then finally having some interest in each other.
"Kendrick's desert romance-with-consequences paints a visual of tents, camels and caravans while highlighting an archaic yet still-observed cultural tradition. Her dangerous hero and stubborn heroine exemplify tenacity in the face of adversity and their love scenes are as hot as the burning sun." RT Book Reviews, rated 4 stars
Two short stories with focus on the loves stories of Sheikhs. My review going to be short here as I find the stories are a little underdeveloped and rush. Not many connections developed between the characters. Off the two stories, I like Defiant In The Dessert more as its theme is about forbidden love.
Both boiks were good, however The Sheikh's undoing was my favorite ofvthe two. Izzy was such a no nonsense character and wasn't about to be pushed around by anyone, especially a sheikh.
