Mistletoe, Baby

Rate this book

It all started with one passionate night…

Don't preach to Alexis Montgomery about settling down. She's got her act together—a fabulous new job, great friends and plenty of dating prospects. She's happily taking New York City by storm, so why would she ruin things by committing to just one man?

If anyone could influence Alexis, it might be Graham Stone. He's gorgeous and brilliant, enough to make any red-blooded woman question her single status. Unfortunately, he's also her boss. When these two seductive forces collide, neither thinks past the sparks they are generating. But their rendezvous has an unexpected consequence during the holiday season—one that could make them never want to walk away…from each other.

Dang, I couldn't put this book down. It must have had much to do with New York City. I loved this story of Alexis and Graham Stone. Being abandoned by a mother is absurd. Finding peace and forgiveness is righteous. Falling in love rocks.

Had a bit of a slow start for me which made it slightly difficult to get into the story once things got moving but I’m a Donna Hill fan and have a few more throwback titles of hers I’m excited to get to.

I just couldn't get into it. Too much telling and not enough showing. Plus I HATE stories from a female POV read by a male narrator. There are so very few men who can convincingly do multiple female voices without sounding... well, like a man pretending to be a woman. It just pulls me from the story.

I've read quite a few of Donna Hill's books and have enjoyed them all. This couple had quite a few issues to come to terms with before they could admit that they were in love. I felt for Graham when he finally told Alexis about his childhood and how his mother sent him to an aunt who never showed him any affection. His mother getting seriously ill, dying and leaving him a letter telling him why she sent him away made him realize that she did love him but felt he would be better off without her.
Alexis issues were more self-doubt and the fact that he was her boss.

How is it possible for two highly educated and successful individuals not to know where babies come from? Both Graham and Alexis engaged in unprotected and not once was contraception ever mentioned. Just in case you weren't aware, unprotected sex usually leads to an unplanned pregnancy. That was the only flaw I had with this story.

Shout out to all my West Indian people. I looooved the Caribbean flavor in this book!

MISTLETOE BABY

DONNA HILL WRITES GREAT STORIES ABOUT LOVE AND ROMANCE; ALEXIS AND GRAHAM'S STORY IS NO DIFFERENT. SOMETIMES LOVE COMES AT UNEXPECTED TIMES, BUT CAN BRING WITH IT GREAT JOY.

This book was different. It was not very interesting to me. I listened to it on audible, and the narrators voice was not appealing.
The story line was decent. I don't know. This book just wasn't my style. I don't even really understand the significance of the title..

Loved it

I loved this story this is my second time reading it. I really enjoyed getting reacquainted with the characters. I hope we get updates on them in other stories.

Not terrible *shrugs

Just not my preference.

I thought the story had really "good bones" and I enjoy Donna Hills' ability to tell a story.

I enjoyed to addition of the sound effects and I was tickled trying to figure out what Graham looked like. Was he a dark, redheaded island man or was he a more fair-skinned man with mixed features where they count.

I didn't like the lack of development when it came to Alexis' relationship with her mother, as well as other details from her hometown, such as more details with Naomi (her best friend).

I was thrown off a bit by the narrative inability to segue into a plot line about Alexis having low iron and the consequential affects on her life rather than it being tossed in flippant when it got to the point where obviously something was going on.

I also tossed my head back when he kept "shooting up the club." Alexis NEVER gave it a second thought.

And what do I know? All of these spicy book characters could be that naive for all I know. It was stupid and irresponsible, in my opinion, especially knowing this was sort of a forbidden relationship where all parties involved understood that there was no guarantee of commitment.

I was also in my feelings because the title was pretty must useless. The only relevant holiday storyline, in my opinion was the July 4th weekend to Sag Harbor.

This was a quick read, albeit a bit unrealistic towards the end, but a cheesy romance novel is expected to be a bit unrealistic if you want a happy ending. Reading Graham's confession of his love for Alexis made me emotional. This book is also a good reminder for any woman in a relationship to be up front and communicate with your partner about what you want in a relationship. Alexis was ready to throw it all away based on rumors and unspoken conversations.

meh, It wasn't bad, exactly just kind of boring. Even as a short book it was still a bit draggy somehow. I borrowed it from the library's ebook section when i was looking for some quick entertainment and I didn't even remember that I'd read it before until most of the way through I started to realize it was vaguely familiar. So not very memorable. But not terrible, either.

This really dragged. The narration was meh…I absolutely HATED the random sound effects. 😒 the continual unprotected sex but surprise when pregnancy occurs thing is an annoying presence in most AA romance books.

FYI: This book has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas. Definitely reminded me to not judge a book by it's cover lol. Otherwise, it was fine.

Once again Donna has outdone herself.
Alexis Montgomery is striving for excellence and will not stop until she reaches the top.
She has had her share of men and has no plan of settling down anytime soon.
Then she meets this guy Graham Stone.
He is drop dead gorgeous, very intelligent and also has a British accent.
Who is Graham Stone and why does he has such an effect on her body and mind?
Will they be able to ignore the sparks before it turns into a full blown flame?
Read this great book and find out.

Within the first few pages I was already wanting to find the beginning the Alexis saga and start there. Paranoid, but cool and calm. She keeps a level head in awkward situations. Alexis is strong and independent. She knew who she was and that made a difference in the way she reacted in situation.

Blake has his issues and they ran deeper than Alexis could have guessed. But through it all she stayed by his side until she could no longer do so. Some things are just not worth confronting.

In Mistletoe, Baby by Donna Hill, Alexis Montgomery and Graham Stone shared more than a connection of love. They were both passionate about providing educational opportunities to children of need. A great romance enriched with love, regret, forgiveness and acceptance. A wonderful book to add to your collection.

Life has come full circle. We have Alexis Montgomery raised by a single mother, Who taught her she could be and have any thing nothing was impossible. Pitted against Graham Stone whose mother gave him away when he was 3 years old. The journey the two take to love and family is very toching.

Good story!

There's nothing to dislike about this book. To know that even Graham, a strong attractive man can have weaknesses is daunting. Even though he had a hard childhood he rose above it.

I appreciated the lack of drama for most of this book. The leads behave pretty maturely until near the end. The way it all wraps up so nicely is very romantic and left me with a good feeling. Other personal things in their lives play out beautifully also. Strong start, sweet finish.

A must read book. Alexis Montgomery and Graham Stone are hot for each other the moment they lay eyes on each other and the heat continues to the very end. You gotta love a man with a British accent.
