When Jade Green met successful trial lawyer, Charles Trotter, she found herself relaxing in the warmth of his smiles and his off-beat humor. Best of all, even though he was a blue-eyed hunk, she thought of him only as a great guy to hang with—no drama, no intimacy, no possibility of shattered dreams. And wonder of wonders, he seemed to feel exactly the same way! When Charles Totter met Jade Green, he thought she was a walking wet dream. As he got to know her better, he found he also enjoyed her company and her quirky sense of humor. Now if he could only find a way to get her into his bed!
With nearly 200 short stories, several novels and novellas in print, hot and spicy, Candy Caine keeps her husband, Robert, on his toes in their Long Island, NY home. Supportive with her writing career, he’s always willing to help her make certain the scenes in her stories are authentic. After all, technique is so important for good writing. When asked why she began to write, Candy says: “I’ve always loved books and my biggest thrill is to bring the joy of reading to others. That’s what writing is all about.” Candy is the alter ego of Candace Gold. While Candace usually writes the less erotic books, Candy is the one who writes the erotica and does her best to curl poor Candace’s hair.
Have you ever started reading a book and within the first few pages, realize that there is no way the book will end in a Happily-Ever-After? Yet this book had so much depth of characters, I could not put it down! (I actually found myself tearing up at times) The author really knocked this one out of the park. This book is not for the faint of heart, it deals with marriage, infidelity, love/hate, misunderstandings, divorce, deceit, racism and flawed individuals. I really liked that the author was able to very neatly portray the couples'(Jade and Charles) issues and resolutions over a span of years(since this is a novella). All of the flaws of individuals and triumphs were present. Great job handling racism both ways and the family dynamic with all of its imperfections. This book really delved deep into decision making and living with the consequences of these decisions. If you don't want truth and all the range and depth of emotion that makes you want to scream at the characters at times, then this is not the story for you. This book deals with real life issues and circumstances. What an excellent read! 5 stars!!
I was very disappointed by the characters in this book. The bad choices they made and they expected people to be okay with them. I have realised that the Author has a problem with black activist she continually puts them in a bad and unforgiving light which I think is unfair and untrue.
In the end it was combination of horrible lead characters and just the overall theme. i give it a disappointed 1 star.
This was a short read. There was a lot packed in to this novella. It was an okay read. A nice semi-realistic HEA. Some parts just seemed a little to easy and smooth while trying to be more of a reality then a fiction story.
