Inspired by the television series, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, this is the story of Daniel Tiger and his neighborhood. Go for a trolley ride with Daniel and his friends as you get to know the people and places in his town.
This is a fun board book that is shaped like a trolley and even has wheels that rotate for interactive entertainment. The story has Daniel traveling through town on a trolley with his friends visiting businesses and homes. Little ones will enjoy the brightly colored illustrations and active story. EL(K-3)—Advisable. Can't go wrong with Daniel Tiger, even if it is a typically gimmicky book (the book has wheels). The writing is still sophisticated and the tone is still what we know and love about this Neighbourhood.
My daughter is in a major Daniel Tiger phase right now (& yells out "ding ding" frequently), so this book made her very excited. The story is lacking (each of Daniel's friends get dropped off at their houses one by one), but the trolley shape and the moving cardboard wheels makes up for it. I think I'm rating it more on its innovative shape than its literary merit.
