Jennifer Ellison always knew this day would come: the day she heads off to college. Away from her family. Away from her small coastal town. Away from the sea she loves and the lighthouse visible from her bedroom window.
She should be excited, but she isn’t. Leaving home seems scary and unpredictable. But ready or not, she’s going. She knows she would be foolish to stay.
Life on a college campus proves to be a whole new world, but Jennifer finds the changes to be mostly pleasant. Her roommate and a special guy she meets on her first day give her a lot to smile about, but more surprises await her. Things she wasn’t looking for until she finds them at...The Lighthouse.
Easy read. Good characters. I would've liked to have seen more about how Jennifer and Jodi's faith grew, but it was still a great book. Seems a little unrealistic that one's life can be so great, but it's the exact thing I dream about. I know a good life is out there!
The Lighthouse by Melanie Wilber Cute short story about a girl heading off to college, she's nervous and fears what the future will hold. She has help from a man as she's taking her things up to her room to only find out she's rooming with his sister. They form a bond and they lead her to finding Jesus and the difference he can make in her life. She then reaches out to her best friend telling her of the experiences she's had with Jesus and it can work for her also. Love the locations as we've been to several in the Oregon area and can't wait to go back to explore more. Real touching story with a great ending. Would like to read more from this author.
Jennifer was worried about college until she met her roommate's brother. He led her to Jesus and changed her forever. Having lost her father when she was young, Jennifer was not taken to church and did not understand the love from Jesus. Jennifer passed this knowledge on to her best friend and changed her life too. God loves you and want what is best for you also.
This is a great story of the discovery of faith of a freshman in college. She goes through some changes and learns how faith can change her life. I do wish that she had gone through the accepting of Christ and the sinner's prayer to become a Christian and there was more talk of how coming to know God was more than just a fuzzy feeling and there was a commitment that you had to make. Due to the nature of the book, I thought that this was something that would be key to the book.
