Now that plus-sized P.I. Savannah Reid has finally walked down the aisle, she's ready for a romantic island getaway with new husband Dirk Coulter. The trip is supposed to be a blissful week of rum drinks and sunshine—but finding a dead body on the beach can be a real killjoy. Welcome to the honeymoon from hell....

Savannah and Dirk were hoping for a little honeymoon excitement, but eye witnessing a cold blooded murder wasn't exactly what they had in mind. To their surprise, the recently deceased is none other than Amelia Northrop, the popular L.A. anchorwoman whose super sexy looks landed her a super wealthy husband. Savannah's no expert, but she's pretty sure Amelia won't be hosting tonight's evening news; she'll be the lead story.

When the local police make it clear that they don't want Savannah's help, she decides to do a little digging on her own—and what she discovers could blow the case wide open. It seems Amelia led a far more twisted life than her cheery on-screen persona suggested, and crossed more than a few powerful people along the way. The question is, who hated Amelia enough to shoot her dead in broad daylight? Savannah isn't sure, but she suspects Amelia found out the hard way that fate has a way of settling old scores—and karma can be a girl's worst enemy....

Fun, light hearted summer mystery. Great characters and a simple and easy plot. Savannah and Dirk are such a cute couple and I love a book with a main character that isn't some drop dead gorgeous woman that's a size two. Can't wait to read more of these!

Love that Savannah and Dirk finally got married! During their honeymoon a famous reporter gets killed right in front of them and their work instincts kick in. Their honeymoon turns into a fight for justice.... Savannah Reid's family from Georgia makes an appearance and it is hilarious. Love this series!

Light, easy quick read. Cozy mystery with good twists!

Once again, GA McKevett has penned another winner to add to her repertoire.

If you were thinking Savannah and Dirk deserved a quiet and peaceful honeymoon after the debacle of their impending nuptials, you wouldn't be alone. However, that wasn't meant to be. The newlyweds just seem to find murder and mayhem wherever they go! And the best part is - we get to go along for the ride!!!!!

The whole Moonlight Magnolia Gang (and of course that includes Granny Reid) work to solve the mystery, and it's wonderful to have them all back. Filled with the fantastic characters we have come to know and love, snappy dialogue, intriguing mystery and the sweet romance between Ms Savannah and her 'old curmudgeon' , "Killer Honeymoon" is a fantastic addition to an already amazing series.

“A Moonlight Magnolia Mix of Romance & Murder”

When we last left Private Investigator Savannah Reid and Detective Sgt. Dirk Coulter, (“Buried in Buttercream”) they finally said their “I do’s” after three failed attempts to reach the altar. With Savannah’s large family camped out at her house, Savannah and Dirk slip away to the romantic island of Santa Tesla, where they learn that friends, Ryan and John have given them a wedding gift of a stay in the Lighthouse Keeper’s cottage. While enjoying the view from the top of the lighthouse (At least Savannah was..) she catches a glimpse of a well-dressed woman running and trying to hide along the beach. Dirk and Savannah decide to check out what’s going on and follow the woman down the beach—only to hear her plead for her life followed by gun fire. She staggers into the water and collapses—with Savannah pulling her to shore and staying with her as she takes her last breaths while mumbling about “William”. The woman is identified as bulldog-fierce news reporter Amelia Northrop. The Santa Tesla Police are summoned and much to Dirk and Savannah’s dismay, do a terrible job at the crime scene, culminating with “Tough-as-nails” Chief Charlotte Le Cross reporting that Amelia had drowned, not shot! Even though Savannah and Dirk are away from their San Carmelita jurisdiction, they delay their honeymoon, don their sleuthing caps and enlist the aid of the “Moonlight Magnolia Detective Agency”—namely friends John, Ryan, and Tammy with Savannah’s Brother Waycross and wiry Granny. Amelia had made some vicious enemies through her investigative reporting—but who hated her enough to kill her? Ian Xenos, the counterfeit goods broker? Someone from the TV station? What about her wealthy developer husband, William? And why did Chief Le Cross lie? Ms. McKevett keeps is guessing with all of the twists and turns . You’ll get more than a chuckle about the “Marietta tussle” and you’ll need a tissue or two over the special wedding gifts that Dirk receives. This is a truly enjoyable cozy and I’m looking forward to Savannah and Dirk’s next escapades—and maybe Georgia-oriented bundle of joy named—let’s see,,,Blythe or Braselton? Hmmm?? Nancy Narma

This book picks up right where the previous book left off. In the previous book P.I. Savannah Reid marries best buddy/turned romantic interest Detective Dirk Coulter. The murder in this book takes place while they are starting their honeymoon. While looking out from their lighthouse cottage, Savannah's interest is caught by a woman darting about suspiciously. After running down to scope things out, her instincts are proven correct when she witnesses the woman shot to death on the beach. Even though they are on honeymoon, having witnessed the woman's death firsthand, they can't help getting involved in the investigation. On a more personal level, Savannah is reminded of her recent brush with death after being shot. Of course the fact that the local police force seem to be totally inept make stepping in too irresistible. One of the roadblocks in their investigation comes in the form of Chief Charlotte La Cross. For better or worse, she is the law on the island of Santa Tesla and her lack of cooperation & involvement with one of the main suspects make things difficult. I enjoyed this mystery and, as a longtime fan, enjoy the usual things about this series that make it a delight. This is a fun cozy, with great characters that you care about and enjoy watching the team effort in solving the crime. The disastrous first sting operation was a hoot. I love the new additions of Savannah's brother Waycross and her Granny Reid to the "Scooby gang". I'd love for them to be regulars in future books. I thought the romance was sweet and balanced with the myster

Killer Honeymoon by G. A. McKevett
Savannah Reid is finally married to Dirk Coulter and they are honeymooning on the island, Santa Tesla in a motel. The next day they get s surprise from John and Ryan and it's the rest of their honeymoon in the lighthouse keepers' cottage.
It's cozy and as they are looking out over the scene she notices a woman running, being chased and as they follow her she's shot at and dies in Savannah's arms in the water. The police on the scene are not on top of things as they walk all over the evidence.
The couple head back to the mainland for their weapons and the rest of the Magnolia Detective Agency-her relatives all agree to go to the island to help investigate the crime.
If anything could go wrong it does and then some. Funny at times and downright hilarious at other times while they are try not to step on one anothers' toes along with the police chief.
Love the story line and can't believe they finally got married! and love the details of the island. What a dream...but can they stay married.
They have many clues to follow up on to solve this one and a super surprise at the very end, touching!

It's been a couple of years since I last visited with Savannah and the gang. I've missed them. I've noticed that now that Van and Dirk are married, the book has more of a romantic tone than the other books. Of course, giving benefit of the doubt since book occurs during their honeymoon, I am hoping that the romance angle won't prevail in the next books especially since there is another romantic couple on the horizon.

I did, however, like the honeymoon location, the mystery and having the Moonlight Magnolia gang and some family along for the honeymoon. The culprit in the end was a bit convoluted but it actually made sense.

Because there was more romance than mystery, I am giving this book a bit lower rating than usual: 4 stars out of 5.

Always love to read about Savannah and Dirk. This story takes place as they are on their honeymoon and in the course of their romantic getaway, witness a murder. True to their character, they find they just can't leave the investigation to the local authorities, who they find lacking in oh so many ways. Naturally, the police chief warns that their help is not needed or wanted, which does nothing to deter Savannah and Dirk. Soon the entire Moonlight Detective Agency is on board, as well and John, Ryan, Savannah's brother Waycross, and even Granny Reid.

I really like this mystery series and seem to be reading backwards from #19 to #18. I like the interaction of the main characters and Savannah's family and the Moonlight Magnolia Detective Agency characters. I couldn't put the book down until I had to get some sleep. And in this one the honeymoon keeps getting interrupted by the murder that happened the first night of the honeymoon outside the lighthouse window. It has twists and turns and finally the police chief on the fictional picturesque island of Santa Tesla and the problems of finding the killer of the local news anchor are sorted out.

Savannah and Dirk FINALLY get to have their wedding💒 and honeymoon and of course you know what happens... they find a dead body. When the local police 👮 seem to be corrupt or just stupid the newlyweds start a investigation of their own. The honeymoon/investigation is not complete without the whole Magnolia 🌺 gang coming along including Granny👵. With a lot of twists, turns and some good old bodily injuries the gang finds justice for the victim. The best part of the book was the surprises waiting for Dirk👨 when he got home. (can someone pass the tissues😭?)

Done with this series. Dirk and Savannah are on their honeymoon and find the dead body of Amelia Northrop on the beach. She is a local TV anchor and the police don't seem too interested in finding out the identity of the killer. The rich widower has a few secrets of his own. Savannah's crew (Tammy, Ryan, John even Granny Reid) help solve the mystery. Sick of the series, Savannah's family and Dirk. Tammy needs her own series. Only read this one because it was already reserved at the library.

Plus size southern Savannah and her Husband Dirk are on their Honeymoon. To get away from Savannah's family, they go to a near by island. Some friends rent them a lighthouse and cottage for a honeymoon gift. As they are visiting the lighthouse, they witness a person shoting at a woman running across the beach.
The mystery was interesting, but I really didn't care for Savannah's husband. He is complaining about everything.

A quick read...humorous when Savannah confronts some of her family, particularly her sister. A honeymoon on an island soon goes bad when Savannah and Dirk discover a body, and a coverup that needs to be revealed. Is the local chief of police crooked? Was the woman murdered part of a bigger plot? Is the husband sorry his wife is deceased? Savannah and Dirk look for the answers as they begin their marriage.

This was my first book by McKevett and it was such an interesting crime story, mixed with a love story, mixed with a family story, mixed with a cool setting. All that mixing made an intriguing story. I would definitely read more by this author.

Um. I haven't really liked the last two books that I've read in this series. It makes me sad. I think it's all the mushy talk and the really awkward sexual situations. The mystery was still good. Maybe they just need to get out of the honeymoon phase? IDK.

The beginning of this one was pretty rough. Constant talk about Dirk being a "manly man" and he and Savannah sweet talking each other was all a bit hokey and didn't really jive with who they were and how they behaved in previous books. But once the mystery started to unfold it was much better.

Honeymoon befitting

Enjoyed from start to finish... By the end I was bawling like a baby. Given the hell Dirk and Savannah went through to get married I can say the honeymoon did not disappoint

Savannah and Dirk finally go on their honeymoon. It’s not all love and games as they aid in solving a murder of a news personality. I love the fact these books continue the characters lives and stories while they solve their latest mystery.

Picked this one up to read on vacation and it was a great choice. Liked the cast of characters and there was enough mystery to keep going but not super complicated.
