Carlo had a feeling something was wrong the instant he stepped onto platform JULIUS, a platform of numerous young cliques, theaters, skate parks, and quite an extraordinary view of the sunset. He and his friends drink beer, smoke new age hazard- free tobacco cigars, and talk about the history of mankind's great migration from an overpopulated Earth to planet Quantum-59. The history is frightening and the fact that history seems to be repeating itself doesn't make it any less unsettling.
"Imagine an entire civilization falling from the sky," Carlo says to his four friends.
The world lives on platforms that hover thousands of feet in the air. There is no land on Quantum-59, and the ocean beneath is something that even Carlo's worst nightmares couldn't touch.
Things will start to fall apart in a big way, and the only question is, who will make it out alive?
I love science fiction - and this is the best kind - really intense, action packed and creative. Their world is not unlike ours, they have families and friends and their teenagers sneak booze into the movies. However, their world is comprised of levels that are suspended high above the ocean (right from the start, we are told that there is something dangerous in the water, but what is it...?) and they have to use their gliders to get from one level to another - and something has gone seriously wrong! Highly recommended for sci-fi action lovers.
