How tragic it is when a caged spirit finally finds its freedom and — entranced in its ecstasy — is invited by that freedom into a cloaked dance with danger.

In Book One of this three-part epic, Kate Simmons — young and alluring, and finally out of her cage of grief — attracts more than attention. Intoxicated by her newfound independence, a blithe Kate is on her way to finding out that around the corners of life, some life-changing eye-openers await. As the story continues in Book Two and she begins to churn a dangerously turbulent trail, it is Kate who now has to snap to, to react, to outrun, or become yet another tortured victim who vanishes down the path of wrong choice.

Having already roiled the risky waters of jealousy, Kate moves in with Neil while Roger — an enamored oddity — visits his son in Germany. Upon his return and finding Kate gone, Roger’s predator mind becomes unhitched, and then unleashed, on the hunt of a lifetime. But whose life?

Step by creeping step, even as Kate’s future closes in on her, she attends — obliviously — to her new life, working through the challenges of fresh relationships, losing family members both to death and to deceit, questioning the depth of love.
Every path offers a choice. Every choice offers a consequence. And every consequence summons its due. As emotions swirl across fateful days and nights, some in Kate’s life will reach out to touch happiness in warm embraces, others to sever ties in bloody traces.

The stains of passion are frequently mistaken. The question here is who will be taken?

When I began my journey of becoming an author, I had no idea all the blessings that would be bestowed upon me. First, I have had the pleasure of meeting so many readers at signings and they have overwhelmed my heart with how much they love my books. Their words of affirmation have given me pure joy and they are the reason I write. To stare my stories with them is to give them a glimpse into my heart. I've also been tremendously blessed with bloggers who have tirelessly shared my stories, made teasers for me, promoted me, and just downright made me feel so welcome in the Facebook community.

I didn't share this initially, but the Killer Next Door series is about my own life experience living next door to a convicted serial killer. The story has the facts of my interactions with him mixed in with fiction that I created to give it drama. The main character Kate is actually based on me. Of course, much of the story has my run away imagination mixed in as well. And sadly, the romance part is all made up!! I didn't have a boyfriend at the time I lived next door to a killer. I did however know one of his victims and he was very interested in "getting to know me better." I know...yikes!

I wrote Beholden to You as a spin-off of the series. It's my favorite book as I love Natalie and Mac's love affair. It also has some thrill to it as I enjoy adding in twists and turns to make the pages fly.

I am about to release my fifth book, Forgotten by You, another spin-off, but can be read as a stand alone. Mitch and Charlie's story will have you rooting for a happy ending and I keep the twists coming.

Reading has been a passion of mine my entire life. I love it so that I dedicated my life to educating children. As a teacher, I have had the profound pleasure of teaching children to read and explore their imaginations through a good book. Nothing is better than watching a child read and find joy from the story. My first graders are a gift that keep on giving every day. Being a teacher is hard work, but the rewards far outweigh the sacrifices.

I have several that I want to turn into books. Writing has become a passion that I dearly love.
In my free time, I enjoy reading (of course), writing, movies, working out, and relaxing with my my handsome husband in Southern California. We enjoy the relaxed lifestyle that California provides. We have two beautiful dogs and no children.

DNF @ 60%

Yeah I didn't think so.

I tried to like this but I just couldn't get into it. I skimmed the first book so I should have known right there I was not going to get into this but I had high hopes that maybe I was wrong or maybe in a mood at the time, but nope.

Honestly, I think my mind is too dark to enjoy fluffy creepy.

I have to admit I am a little bit sad as this is my first DNF book EVER

I just need to move on and I don't want to say anything bad. From the high ratings of other reviews I guess this was just a me thing.

Anxiety (ahhhhhhhhhh!!) is the secret word of the day. You know the feeling you get when you know something bad will happen but are unsure of when and it's driving you bonkers. In this 2nd chapter of the Killer Next Door Series it is more of another character than just a theme.

Roger has just returned home from visiting his ex and his son in Germany. He is a bit giddy from the excitement of them coming back to the states and starting a relationship with Kate; I mean who can resist a declaration of love from a creepy psycho, he finds her gone without a trace and boy is he pissed. As ex-military he uses all of his training and resources to find Kate and once again will not let anyone or anything get in his way until he posses her.

Neil and Kate are safely tucked away in Neil's condo continuing on their fast paced relationship, or are they? While they are preparing for the Holiday's they find out that Roger is back in town and need to decide what they will do next. Kate wants to continue her normal life but finally realizes that is not possible if she wants to stay safe. On top of all this Kate loses her father whom she just reconnected with, finds out what really happened between her parents, and discovers something about Neil that shakes the very foundation on which they stand.

By just the title alone you know something is going to happen, but WHEN?! Having that feeling of nerves and anxiety about Roger while being along for the ride of a new relationship is exhausting but extremely exciting but with suspense added to the mix. Ms. Sexton exceeded my expectation with her flow and story line of this second book and has left me with only one question, what next?

OMG I thought Fallen For You left me wanting more. Boy was I wrong. This book leaves you not only wanting, but needing to know what happens! Throughout the whole book I was biting my nails anticipating something big to happen. I absolutely positively loved it.

Kate has recently moved in with her boyfriend Neil, after learning that her landlord Roger, was stalking her and he was the lead suspect in two, possible three murders. She had to quit work and she can't go visit her best friend Charley. She is struggling with having to rearrange her life. Then she finds out that her dad died. So now she has to learn how to cope with her father’s death and having a psychopath stalker.

Neil is madly in love with Kate. He wants to protect her at all costs, but she doesn't want to intrude on him and bring all this drama into his life. He has to convince her that his love for her is real. Challenging himself to prove to her that he will always be there for her.

This book was Ah-Fucking-Mazing! It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. I cannot wait for the last book. I need to know what happens to all these characters. This is a MUST READ!! Don't wait.

I didn’t have a hard time getting into the story this time. It literally picks up right where Fallen For You leaves off. Kate is now living with Neil. Roger has just gotten back from Germany after visiting his son. Roger has quickly realized that Kate and Charlie have moved out and he’s pissed. He has no idea where she is but he’s pretty sure he can find her.

Kate however, doesn’t want to be found yet also doesn’t want to help herself not be found. I didn’t understand this part at all. We know Roger is a murderer. We know he’s after Kate. But Kate doesn’t want to quit her job at Nordstrom’s nor does she leave school. WTH?? In fact even though Neil keeps telling her she needs to quit, it's not until Charlie agrees that she finally does. I'm sorry but if some deranged lunatic killer is after me, I'M GONE!! I would change my name if I had to. I want to live more then I want to work at the mall!

I stayed irritated throughout this entire book. Again, the writing was choppy and didn’t really flow smoothly. Dialogue didn’t flow and came across more like statements. I still had a hard time connecting to the characters. Actually I take that back. There was one character that I found myself understanding, Roger’s ex-wife, Paulina. Roger convinces her to bring his son back to America and live with him. She of course has no idea what he’s been up to. She soon figures it out and has to pretend to not know in front of Roger. That was some good stuff.

Overall, I felt like the author tried too hard with this book. It just felt like ‘filler’ when in reality this entire story could probably have been told in one book maybe two. In the beginning of Taken by You, Kate suffers the loss of her father. She flies back to his funeral only to find out that her bad relationship with him wasn’t entirely his fault. Okay, so there’s going to be some turmoil and angst. I can get behind that. Kate and her brother head home to confront her mother. One conversation is all we get. They storm in, make accusations, mom is pretty nasty back, and they storm out. That’s it. Kate is all sad and weepy but that's it. No real answers. No reconciliation.

On the plane to her father’s funeral, Kate meets a woman who’s also on her way to a funeral. They start talking and find they have the death of fiancé/boyfriend in common.

Tragedy also strikes Kate’s friend, Natalie. Yes another death. Kate refers about 20 people in this book to her grief counselor. I'll tell you what, that many is making a mint off of Kate!

Natalie who had already lost her parents previously, is introduced to Mac (Neil's friend from the first book). Incidentally, Mac has also lost his parents.

Not to mention we still have our murderer Roger on the loose and yes he does kill in this book too.

All I could think about when reading this book was that it was full of death and sex. What a combo.

I actually found myself looking forward to the part with either Roger or Paulina. I found Kate and Neil to be too sticky sweet. Not enough substance for me. I didn’t like their interactions together or with others for some reason. But Roger and his obsession with Kate is pretty interesting. He doesn't really know her he just wants to have sex with her. For some reason thought he's convinced she'll make a great mother for his son. But he's crazy and a killer so who's going to argue with that logic. :-)

Yes there is a major cliffhanger. Yes I’ll be reading Given to You, I have to see how this all plays out. Does Roger get Kate? Will he kill her? Can Neil save her? Will Kate and Neil get their happily ever after? Maybe Kate will agree to be Rogers sex toy and mother to his kid. I gotta find out!

** spoiler alert **
First scenes is Roger walking into a bar to find someone to beat the crap out of and instead he meets this hot exotic looking chick, pretty chicks name is Rose and of course Roger being all psycho thinks that it's an omen and he needs to date her.
Roger keeps wondering around Kate's old empty apartment looking for clues...does he not realize that she knows he is psycho!?!? Roger is now stalking Kate because he can't get enough of her..wow! So roger has gone to all new lows...if he could get any lower, he found her at her job but she was hiding but now she has to quit her job.

Kate is even more lost inside herself now, she gets a huge blow to her emotions not only last book with coming out with we secrets but now she has lost another loved. This girl has some emotions of steel! Kate's confronted with the fact that her father left when she is called and told that he has died and she needs to go home for his funeral. Kate's friends also convince kate to quit her job because of psycho boy but of course she didn't and Roger came to her work while she was working but didn't see her so she quit her job that night so now Neil has hired some Navy Seals to be with her when ever he isn't. I can understand why Kate feels lost and trapped. She can't have a life. Crazy!
We finally get a little bit more of Kate's brother and they are close only 2 years apart. He is a rock for her but not as much as Neil. I know that Kate tries not to be reliant on Neil but it seems like she is more than she gives herself credit for. Oh and to top it all off; (like Kate needs more drama!) Neil's dead wife is Kate's doppleganger! Kate found out in class that they found Marks body and instantly she freaks out blaming herself and is instantly worried about Neil. But I can honestly see why she is worried.

Pauline runs into Darcy which is the wife of Rogers best friend.. And is warned by Darcy that there is something wrong with Roger and that is when Paulina realizes that Roger is not all there but she can't get away and now Rogers body count is like 4-5 peeps...he is a lunatic!

Only downfall so far is too many mental dialogues again and too many people to follow...but I do love how connected each character & pair is with each other.

All in all: Carlie you did it again!! This one was better than the first and of course now I have to wait till August to find out what happens next!! Great job!! This is the perfect mixture of erotica meets suspense...if your looking to mix it up read this series!!

Taken by You is the second book of a three-part series. These books must be read in order.

This was a bit better than the first one in that there weren't so many sex scenes (hey, I'm not a prude but too much of that will ruin a good book) and really focused on the story of Kate being stalked by Roger and what she was doing to avoid him.

Roger is a ten on the "creep scale". He's gorgeous and talks a good talk but he's a psychotic killer. He goes to extremes to find Kate and gets rid of the people who stand in his way. Nobody matters except his son, Jacob and although he doesn't kill him, he does something bad to him.

In all honesty, I don't see what his big attraction to Kate is. Yeah, she's a pretty woman but she's not the sharpest tool in the shed. But I guess when you're a stalker, it doesn't matter. I find her to be irritatingly whiny and overbearing.

And what's with different characters having the same name? Two women named Rose and two women named Jessica in the same story. Sorry but I thought that was too much and even though it was easy to keep them separate, it was too much of a coincidence, especially with Rose. It's an uncommon name and really, what are the chances of something like that happening? It was unrealistic and distracting.

I was irritated again when Kate's father died and she and her brother, Eric, decided to confront their mother on what had happened that had caused their divorce. I didn't see how that played into the story and what difference it made. But at that point, the story was dragging anyway. I thought that whole scene was blown out of proportion and unnecessary.

What was the point of Natalie hooking up with Mac? Natalie was a coworker and friend of Kate's who seemed more than content to run the whole show and make decisions for Neil. "Neil and I will take you home". Really? Kate is meeting Neil's family for the first time and she's going to leave them and take him with her and go mollycoddle Natalie. But I can see a story between Natalie and Mac and maybe the author was alluding to that.

It seemed that Kate was on a crusade to get more patients for Dr. Cox. Everybody she came in contact with had some sort of issue where they needed to go see Dr. Cox. "Let me give you his number". Take out a billboard instead. That's how irritating she was with that. But again, at the point, the story was dragging.

The real story is about Roger and that's what kept me reading. The cliffhanger at the end of this book was great and makes me want to read the last book. It seems there are a lot of tedious details going on with Kate's life, which may have been the intent, while Roger is plotting, planning and killing.

There were a few grammatical errors. Bare and bear do not have the same meaning and the wrong one was used on several occasions. I found a couple of others that were easily ignored.

This is a pretty good series overall.

“I’ll find you soon, my love....... Very soon.”

Roger returns from his trip to Germany to find Kate gone and her apartment completely empty. Confused, hurt and angry, Roger is on a mission to find Kate. Stopping by a bar to think, he meets another women by the name of Rose and he is happy for she is someone to bide his time until he is able to locate Kate.

Kate is happily living with Neil. Feeling better about being away from Roger, she tries to continue on with her life. When she gets some unexpected news in regards to her father, finds out that Neil has been keeping a secret and is forced to quit her job, Kate feels as if her life is out of control. She is sad, hurt, confused and scared.

“You, my beauty are the calm in my storm. You bring peace to my everyday life and I so desperately need that. You and I complete each other. We don’t have to compete to have our needs met.”

When Roger reappears in Kate’s life with his family in tow, and the news that Kate’s school mate Mark’s body was found, Kate is freaked out again. Neil hires a security team to protect her. Again, Kate continues to move on with her life with Neil.

“Baby, it’s going to be okay. I’ll call Paul and get some men assigned to me if that will make you feel better. I’m not going to let anything hurt us. I love you so much and will do whatever it takes for you to feel safe again.”

Neil being the awesome boyfriend plans a fantastic day for Kate. Regardless of the security measure, Roger is on a mission. Using all means necessary to get what he wants, he will remove whomever gets in his way to have her. When she least excepts it, Roger strikes and Kate finds herself completely helpless.

Book #2 in this series definitely didn’t disappoint. I loved getting to know more about Neil and his past and exactly what is was about Kate that completely enamored him.

Kate, her life is literally in shambles. She learns of Neil’s late wife. She learns the truth about her father and some truth that changes the dynamics of her relationship with her mother. It also bring her and her brother closer together. She is forced to grow up a lot. Roger is on her tail and relentless. Kate only knows safety and love when she is in Neil’s arms, other than that she feels so alone and scared.

We also got to know more about Natalie and her difficult past as well as Mac. I LOVED the sparks between them. They have a ton in common and my heart just melted with Mac and how he helped Natalie.

Again, this story has it all suspense, romance and angst.
Carlie Sexton has created a charming serial killer that keeps you on edge with the decisions he makes, most of them leave your jaw dropped open.

Be prepared for a major cliffhanger! I cannot wait to see what happens next.

A freaking fantastic job!!

With Taken by You, Carlie Sexton continues to impress me with her debut series. The suspenseful “murderer next door” element to the story gives Carlie Sexton’s books an edge and bring a refreshing change from the standard contemporary romance books I have read lately.

I had a bit of trouble getting into book 1, Fallen For You, but by the end of the book, I was hooked on the story. Taken By You picks up where Fallen left off and I was quickly drawn back into the storyline. Kate is dealing with all the changes in her life with her new boyfriend Neil, new living arrangements, a stalker, and having to change her entire life. Kate is a little slow to fully grasp the danger she is in, but she is not overly stubborn and accepts help without too much fuss. (Which I love, characters who refuse help in the face of danger just irritate me.) Kate’s relationship with Neil has ups and downs, but I like that they don’t pull the on-and-off again routine. Kate and Neil still have a lot of things to work out and they need to get to know each other better, but I like them as a couple and they have good chemistry together.

Fallen for You was a well-developed story. There are quite a few plot twists and Carlie Sexton delves deeper into the secondary characters. Carlie Sexton’s writing continues to improve, the story was more focused than the first book with less extraneous details. At times, the dialogue seems very straightforward, not like how people talk in actual conversation. The dialogue style doesn’t always flow, which makes the story a little choppy in places.

I have to be honest, the title is a big hint about what will happen in this book. However, despite having an idea about what would happen didn’t take away from the suspenseful way this story unfolded. Taken by You has a cliffhanger ending, and once again I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I am very happy with how this story is unfolding and eager for the conclusion in book 3.

For you readers who like your romance mixed with suspense and sensuality, I recommend giving this series a try. I highly recommend reading the books in order. Book 1 introduces the characters and provides for the foundations of the entire story.

4.5 STARS!!!
Taken by You is the 2nd installment in the Killer Next Door Series. You must read Fallen For You before beginning this book. The story picks up right where Fallen for You ended with Roger returning from his stay in Germany . Delusions of his relationship with Kate sustaining Roger while he was away he is devastated to return home and find that Kate has left, vanished with no means to contact her.
As chance would have it while trying to drown his sorrow, Roger meets a woman name Rose. His plan is to use her as a substitute until he can reconnect with Kate but he later finds she may be more useful than first suspected.
Life has been great for Neil and Kate since Rogers been away. They have grown quite comfortable in the relationship. But when tragedy strikes Kate’s family and she is forced to travel alone she learns a secret that Neil has been keeping from her. Will their love for one another be strong enough to endure this deceit?
The depth of Neil’s feelings for Kate are limitless as shown throughout the story. When he confesses that fear was his motivating factor for not disclosing the truth you feel for him. I was pulling for Kate to forgive him so they could get back their hot steamy love affair.
Kate was lulled into a false sense of security while Roger was away. But a close encounter puts her on high alert and sends her running into the arms of Neil for protection. Although Kate needs Neil she feels guilty for bringing Roger into his life and creating such chaos.
When Kate takes a job working for Neil’s law firm she is met with animosity from Neil’s secretary Laura. I didn’t like her from the start. I could tell she had her own agenda as far as Neil was concerned and she wasn’t going to play nice with Kate.
While Roger is picking up his ex and his son at the airport he catches a glimpse of Kate and all bets are off. Roger is even more determined to get rid of Neil and take Kate for himself. Roger’s level of deceit and complex planning had me fearing for Kate and Neil’s safety throughout the book . Every page had me turning with angst. Carlie lulled me into a comfortable place and then knocked me over. Leaving me lying on the floor screaming...NO!!!!!!!

Pick up Given to You (The Killer Next Door #3) to see how the story concludes. Who will get their happy ever after?

Even if I thought the second book was a little ( „little“ is the Key word, here ) better than the first, I still couldn´t over look the choppy writing and the even MORE unrealistic characters.
The idea the author had for her book was, in my opinion, really good.....but is there really a need to make the good guy creepily perfect and the bad guy creepily spooky? It was way to much. I´m not so fond of spoiling stories ( even if I do spoil... occasionally...by accident, of course.LOL) so I won´t start telling you all the nitty-gritty. The description basically says enough of the story as it is. The rest I can easily explain..:-)

Kate will continue to never be my fictional BFF. Although I did hope for a character improvement ( still waiting....maybe in the next book. HOPEFULLY)

Neil was so damn perfect. So SO perfect I was nearly blinded while reading. He was more than guestionable. A guy who does no wrong just pisses me off so bad. All I wanted to do was jump into the book and write with a permanent marker all over his face, or....cut holes in his pants and iron Mickey Mouse patches over the holes, or......shave a penis in his beard....ANYTHING to make him a little less perfect. A man ( fiction or real ) NEEDS to have some quirks. Something that shakes the image up a bit. Neil was a 100% unrealistic character. Period.

Roger was indeed my favorite character in this book. Seriously...he was the only productive one, always making things interesting. A bat-shit crazy guy. If it weren´t for him I would have fainted from Neil´s perfection.

I´m not going to start on the romance issue again. I haven´t changed my opinion regarding the cheesiness. ( hoping for an improvement in that department in the next book )
And as for the emotions......well, I read about them.....but they did nothing for me.

I´m still going to go ahead and give this book 3 stars, but only because I like the cover and the description was, again, good. The story was okay, but the rest angered me ( especially the love birds )

I am now positive that I won´t re-read this series. I will read the next book, though just because I´d like some closure. If I stop now I will never know what happens next.

My Take on this Journey:

Taken By You, by Carlie Sexton is the phenomenal sequel to Fallen For You. The sequel takes off from the cliffhanger that was dropped at the end of book one.

Roger returns from his trip to Germany to find that Kate and Charlie are gone, along with all of their belongings, when he creeps into their apartment to voyeur into her bedroom while Kate sleeps.

Roger is a serial killer and a psychopath, who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Roger has an entitlement issue. He thinks that he was deprived as a child, and needs attention along with anything he wants at any cost.

The girls made their move as soon as Roger left, and went into hiding. Charlie moved in with her boyfriend, Mitch and Kate moved in with her boyfriend, Neil. Kate is forced to quit her job at Nordstrom and work for Neil. She stays in College, but has a body guard that Neil has hired to protect here from Roger.

Roger has found a new girlfriend, Rose #2, and still has Pauline, (Jacobs mother) to contend with. He has brought his son, Jacob, and Pauline into his apartment to stay until they find a place of their own.

There are accidental run in's, and a lot of twists and turns in this novel. I do not want to give away any of the angst filled scenarios, but this novel will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. YES...another CliffHanger!!!!! AGH... I'm dying. I have to get my hands on Given To You, the third book in The Killer Next Door series. This is a must read people!

Do not miss out out Ms. Sexton's series. I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed. Put this on your TBR now! A lot of secrets are revealed in this segment, sorrowful moments come to pass, and surprise engagements announced!

Ms. Sexton has flawless writing abilities, and will put you in step with each and every character and their respective situation as it is unveiled.

I give Taken By You, 5 Riviting, Pain Staking, Lust Filled, Romance Ensconced, Blood Soaked, Tight Rope Falling... Stars!!!

In Book 1 we are introduced to this irresistibly gorgeous apartment manager - Roger. For someone so well put together you would never think that he is this homicidal maniac. He’s had his eyes set on Kate from day one. In book 2 he is even more psychopathic than I would have even thought. He literally will do anything just to have her. Anything.

Kate tries to ignores the danger but with her friends’ persuasion she agrees that her safety is at risk. With all the stress happening in her life, Neil stays with her side every step of the way. With the amount of time spent together Kate learns that Neil has some pressing secrets as well. Even as they unfold, their relationship is proven to be strong enough to handle it.

In this story we get to see Neil’s sweet and romantic ways. Even with the impeding doom hovering around them he makes it a point to show Kate his passion, love and devotion. Neil supports her, shelters and protects her. Roger realizes how serious their relationship has become and it angers him even more. Because of this he goes through even greater lengths to possess Kate.

I thought that Fallen For You was great. (Read my review HERE) In my opinion, Taken By You is even better. FFY just scrapes the surface of this tale of obsession and possession while TBY delves even deeper. Just like book 1, I could not put this one down. It is just kept me on the edge of my seat. Yes it does have a major cliffhanger but I think this one is justifiable especially knowing that the finale drops within the next couple of weeks.

I truly am impressed with this debut author. For such a complex story, I thought it was delivered effortlessly. To me it is mind boggling that this is her first series. In my opinion, Carlie Sexton is one author to watch out for.

Hot Damn!!!!! Carlie Sexton did it again, my heart still hasn't slowed down. We start a month after the ending of Fallen for You. Roger has just returned from Germany and is looking forward to seeing Kate again. Thankfully Kate and Charlie are no longer at the apartment complex. This sends Roger into full on panic mode and is more determined then ever to have Kate.

Kate and Neil are still in the newlywed faze of their relationship but it has been on warped speed thank to Roger's crazy behavior. In this sequel there are many twist and turns along with new and old characters. Neil is such a sweet, caring, loving and supportive man. He loves Kate more than his next breath unfortunately like all relationships theirs is tested. When Kate begins questioning her relationship with Neil I have to say I was extremely torn because you can tell how much Neil loves her but at the same time what has caused her doubts is also pretty freaking serious.

I love how we get to know everyone in this book, we are given a little bit of everyone's thoughts and feelings. You have this absolute whack job Roger who is looney tunes certifiable, this young, bright beautiful young girl and this ridiculously handsome rich lawyer. You are left constantly guessing what is going to happen next. What crazy thing is Roger going to do, who is going to be harmed next, is Neil and Kate's relationship going to stand through all of this.

I can tell you I will be waiting somewhat patiently for the final book in this series. I cannot stress to you how terrific this series is. This is an absolute must read and I can promise it is at the top of my to be read again list. If you are looking for romance, suspense, a little bit of darkness this is the book for you. So what are you waiting for go grab your copy!!!

Taken By You is the second book in the Killer Next Door series. Kate and her friend move into the apartment across the hall from Rodger. Rodger is the apartment manager and becomes infatuated with Kate. Kate meets Neil and they quickly start a serious relationship. When Neil becomes concerned with Kate’s safety he has her move in with him while Rodger is away. But moving out of the apartment is not going to stop Rodger.
There were parts of this book I enjoyed but just as many I found difficult to follow and read. Neil was my favorite character in the book. His love for Kate was evident. Rodger seems to be the main character, the villain. He is the most developed character. When I read a book in the Romance genre I want to spend most of my time reading about the couple and their quest for their Happily Ever After. To read scene after scene with the villain and know more about his inner dialog and actions than the romantic couple seems unusual to me. The constant focus on Rodger took too much focus off the main couple and that caused me to not be as invested in them and therefore honestly I could put the book down and could walk away.
Readers should know that this book has a cliff-hanger ending, there is no resolution at the end of this book and if the reader wants to know if Kate and Neil do have a life together they will have to read book 3.
I would rate this book as average, and if it were my choosing I would put it in the genre of thriller with some romantic scenes. I was given this book by the author for my honest review.

I read both of these books in a day. They were that captivating. Pretty much from the first page I wanted to keep going. Most of you know how much I hate starting a new book and getting into a new world but this one was really good. You start off with Kate and Charlie moving into an apartment together and you find out that Kate is trying to get her life back in order. She had a tough time after her first love dies in a car crash and three years later she is starting to live again.

Roger is her landlord and seems to have an unhealthy interest in Kate. He is constantly monitoring her comings and goings and if she is late or not home he contacts her. She doesn't think much of it at first but as she goes along more and more stuff begins to freak her out. Mark is a guy from her class that wants to be "study partners" but Kate doesn't trust him since he comes off as a womanizer. You get to see a little bit of him and you get the feeling that he would change for Kate. Neil is the super hot lawyer that wants to get his way all the time. At first, really did not like him. I thought he was very overbearing and annoying.

At the end of the day you will fall head over heels for Neil. He really loves Kate and will do anything for her. They obviously have problems but he makes sure that he finds ways to make them go away. Seriously, at the end you can't help but sigh over Neil. He is freaking GREAT, almost Phillip-esque. The very last chapter makes you sit there and go NOOOOOOO!!!!! I can't wait for the next book. I am going to go with Darra on this and give these book 4.1 stars.

A JUST BOOKED review.

SUSPENSEFUL is the second novel of her trilogy in The Killer Next Door series from debut author, Carlie Sexton. Taken By You depicts
how are hearts can be broken and mended as we experience love, tragedy, and friendship in our life.

Taken By You begins immediately were her first novel, Fallen For You, ended. Roger, Kate’s former landlord, has arrived back from
Germany to start a new relationship with Kate. Although, Kate has no interest in her former sociopath landlord, Roger, he will stop at
nothing to claim her as his. While Roger was in Germany, Kate moves in with Neil so he could better protect her but Neil has other
plans. Neil has fallen in love with Kate, wants to explore a relationship with her, and is willing to do anything to protect his new love and show her how much he loves her.

Carlie Sexton has done a BEAUTIFUL job writing a romance that captivates you immediately capturing your interest to turn each page to
discover what will happen next in Kate’s life. Even though you may uncover more questions than answers and leaving you doubting if
Neil and Kate’s love will endure the obstacles in their relationship, so do not be disappointed when you discover the book ends with
huge cliffhanger. Do not fret though, Carlie will not have us to waiting too long to find out what happens with Kate, Neil, and Roger,
because she is currently writing the third novel in the series, Given To You.

Taken By You is Carlie Sexton’s second novel in the series and I give Taken By You, 4 AMAZING STARS!

With everything that happened in the first book, Fallen For You, this book was highly anticipated by me. I don’t want to give away too much when it comes to my reviews because I really believe that these books are some that you have to read to be able to fully grasp the story.
Kate and Neil are trying to start over, together. After moving in together after everything with Roger had happened, they are in the process of learning more about each other to see if they could even work out. With the threat of the fact that Roger is still out there, and has skills that nobody can seem to understand, Kate is still afraid.
It was really great in this book because we were able to learn more about Roger. Well not necessarily learn more about him, but we were able to get into his head more and understand what he was thinking about. What he was willing to do to be with Kate. His character I think is the best one in this book because he was so well written; it caused chills while reading it.
One thing that I enjoyed about this book was being able to see the relationship between Kate and Neil as it grows. It was really interesting to see how things progress with the two of them, and I was left wondering at times if the only reason they were together is because of everything going on with Roger. If he hadn’t been the way he was would they still be together?
This book ends on such a note that you want to read the next one to find out what has happened.

This story picks right back up from where it left off in the first book.

I thought this book was ok. Again as in the first book. I looked past the third person writing and focused on the story.

Well… There was a lot going on in this book. It just seemed to chaotic in some place and slow in others. And in some places a little bit unbelievable.

Roger wasn’t really that much in this book… It was mostly focused on Kate hiding out and more about her friend. The parts we do get from Roger… He’s just getting crazier and crazier! He’s taking bigger risk that I think will be his undoing.

There was a lot of death in this book. Kate’s father passes away. And at the same time… She finds out something very upsetting about Neil’s dead wife. Kate’s really upset and ask’s him to give her a couple of days to think about The direction of the relationship.
He didn’t….
I would have been so upset if I had told my boyfriend to give me some time and he showed up at my doorstep anyway.

Neil seems to be to good to be true. He says all the right things.. He does all the right things…
I don’t know… It’s just hard. I’m not really feeling him.

Roger I think has truly lost his mind now and is completely delusional. His need for Kate is full on. The end of the book was a little hard for me..I found it to be a little bit unbelievable.

This book leaves off in a major cliffhanger. Not a big thing now… Since this whole series is complete…
So… I’ll start book 3 in this series.

Life isn’t going to ever be normal for Kate. After suffering through the worse event in her life Kate is trying to come to terms with the life she now has to live. As long as Roger is on the loose Kate will not be free. Now on the alert and hiding, Kate must deal with everything else in life as well as Rogers hunt for her.

Kate and Neil are finally together and are happy as ever but doubts threaten their relationship and Kate must come to terms with Neil’s love and devotion for her. While she questions everything he does, Neil works to show her that she is the love of his life and he would do anything to protect her.

But Roger will do anything to have Kate and as he tries to find her he also has to put up with a new girlfriend and his son’s mother. Two women that are in the way of him getting back Kate. Two women that he would not second guess in killing. Because killing is second nature to Roger.

Taken by You is Kate’s story separate from Rogers hunt. It is filled with Neil and Kate’s passion, Kate’s doubts and stubbornness, and Rogers psychotic behavior.

But I must mention that sadly, Taken by You suffered from the second book syndrome. Although the writing was better there was a lack of action and too much mundane events.

I however will read the final book because we are left with a major cliffhanger! I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with these three and hopefully see Kate get her HEA.

HAPPY READING!

what happens when you are finally on your own, living with your best friend, working, going to school, meet the man of your dreams... only problem is now you have a creepy neighbor that has forced you to move out of your apartment, way from your best friend.

this book picks up where the last book ends. Roger is back from Germany, with son and EX right behind him. Kate is the only thing that Roger can think about getting back to. He is counting the minutes to get back to her, only problem is when he is finally back and goes into Kate and Charlie's Apartment they are gone, with NO way of find them. OH he knows where she works, and goes to school. he has No doubt that he will find her again.

Neil and Kate are working through living together, her having a stalker/killer after her, and trying to enjoy their new life together. after hiring someone to protect Kate at all times and the days and weeks go by and nothing has happen its set them up for hope that Roger has moved on, has been arrested for something else, has given or found someone else to keep him away from Kate, but when Neil plans something special for Kate, things don't go the way they should is it maybe to late.

I can't wait for the 3rd book to come out.. I get so many feelings for these books. Carlie does an excellent job of keeping on the edge of my seat, falling in love with Neil, and Hoping that Kate has finally found her HEA!

Oh my goodness!! I LOVE this series! Carlie Sexton gave us the whole package with The Killer Next Door series! There is angst, romance, hot sex, passion, love, laughs, tears, and HOT sex... wait did I mention that already??? ;) This will by far be my shortest review ever... because YOU MUST READ THIS SERIES!!! This is a 3 part series and I cannot wait for the 3rd installment!

Kate is an adorable heroine. She is sexy, smart, ambitious, strong willed, classy, and incredibly easy to love. Neil... oh Neil... what an I say? He is the PERFECT MAN!! He is sexy as hell, successful, charming, HOT, intelligent, knows what he wants and how to get it, and so thoughtful I found myself constantly oohing and aahing over him. All of the characters are very endearing and relatable. I loved the relationships in this series. Kate and Neil both have been through hell and they have amazing support systems... which in my opinion is what makes these books! I absolutely loved Charlie and Mitch, and am crossing my fingers for Natalie and Mac.

Then we have Roger... CREEP ALERT!!! I was freaked out by him in book 1 the first time he opened his mouth. He is a major sleaze that had my hair standing on its ends! Roger made the perfect villain in this series, because he was handsome, educated, and charming... no one expected him to be a sociopath!

I give this series a solid 4 stars on the knock my socks off scale! They are definitely a must read and I will be holding my breath for book 3!!

Wow! Just wow! Carlie Sexton has done it once again with her follow up novel to Fallen For You… this series may actually cause me to stop breathing. I keep holding my breath waiting for the next ball to drop. It is absolutely crazy! And 100% amazing!

Taken By You picks up about a month after Fallen For You ends. Kate and Charlie have abandoned their perfect little freak zone of an apartment. But Kate is forced to quit her job and avoid her best friend. All out of fear. She doesn’t want to be Roger’s next victim.

But when Kate starts questioning her perfect whirlwind of a relationship things get even more angsty and complicated. But always there lurking is creepy Roger. This guy totally freaks me out!

I fell in love with the characters all over again. Kate and Neil are fabulous and I cannot wait to find out how this story ends!

GAH! This book! This Series! I am always a little apprehensive after reading such an amazing first book in a series, but this second book did not disappoint! Carlie Sexton is an amazing writer who has captured her characters perfectly and I did not want to put this book down. From the beginning I was glued to the pages and am anxiously awaiting the next book by Carlie! This book was amazing!

If you had a book hangover from the cliffhanger after Part 1… then you will be dying after reading Part 2!!! Taken For You had me just sitting staring at my Kindle when I finished! (OMG, what just happened) I was so thankful that unlike so many others I had Part 3 waiting for me because I HAD to know how it all ended!!! Carlie Sexton knocked it out of the park with this book… I was addicted from the first page!!!

Part 2 in The Killer Next Door series picks up right where you left off in Fallen For You (Part 1). Kate has decided to move in with Neil and luckily Roger is currently out of the country (but not for long). Kate is still struggling with her emotions and now her father has passed away. Neil is SO supportive to Kate. It is so sweet how he is with her! But when Kate finds out he hasn't been completely honest with her about his past, she must decide if it is something she can get past and be able to move forward with their relationship. But you can never get too comfortable. When Roger returns with his son and ex with him everyone assumes he is over Kate, but she is still the one he is obsessed with! How far will his infatuation go?

You must read this series! Part 2 has a serious cliff hanger but I am sure it will all be worth it in the end! Loved this book!

Taken by You is book #2 in the Killer Next Door series by Carlie Sexton.

Taken by You picks up where Fallen For You finishes.

I didn’t think that Carlie could have delivered a better book than she did with the first but she did.

It pulls you in on a deeper level and leaves you requiring a manicure at by the time you’ve finished it. If you thought Fallen For You was full of suspense then you haven’t seen anything yet. I love the way that Carlie has written book #2 without falling in to the trap of explaining book #1 and making it repetitive. I’ve already read book #1 I don’t want to read it as part of book #2 too, ya know. Carlie has kept me engaged on a deeper level than she did with book #1 and this is a classic example of how well the storyline is progressing through the series.

This book continues with the multiple POV’s which goes deeper in to their mind set’s this time and again shows great development of the voices heard.

The series is moving at a really good pace and I can’t wait to read book #3 and see how it concludes because this series is far from predictable!

This is the continuation of the suspense that happened in Fallen for You.

Kate has another chance at finding love. She’s also trying to stay under the radar from creepy, stalker guy, Roger Wilkins. Roger is totally obsessed with finding Kate again after finding out, on his return home from Germany, that she’s moved out of the apartment she rented across the hall from him.

Kate and Neil’s relationship is moving forward in this book. Neil is doing everything he can to protect Kate. He’s had her move in with him. And he’s also gotten a bodyguard to be with her whenever she is out. But will this be enough?? There are so many things revealed in this book & so many twists & turns that I felt like I was in one of those fun houses at the carnival that you have a hard time finding your way out of.

I wanted to toss my Kindle when I got to the end……Roger is getting more anxious and has convinced himself that Kate is meant to be with him. Like I’ve said before…..this guy is creepy & really needs to be locked up. I’m left hanging here…..ugh!! This story continues with Given to You that comes out in August 2013.

Where do I even begin, I thought that Fallen For you (The Killer Next Door) by Carlie Sexton left me hanging and wanting more, I was completely fooled. Sexton has done it again. But with Taken By You (The Killer Next Door Part 2), it is even worse. I am hanging on by a thread to know what happens next in this erotic thriller

In Taken By You, Sexton picks up where we leave off from Fallen For You. Kate and Neil have moved in with each other and Roger is gone out of the country, but of course not forgotten. Kate is still on an emotional roller coaster, but she now has to face the death of her father.

Neil is being supportive to Kate, but has also withheld a little bit of information about his past that Kate should have been made aware of. But will this be a deal breaker in this relationship or can it stay strong as she leaves to travel to Minnesota to bury her father.

With Roger returning and bring back with him his ex and son, you would think that he is no longer infatuated with Kate, but Kate is still the target of his obsession.

I am not going to get further with this book, just know that it is a great read and worth taking the time to sit down and read it, it has an amazing cliff hanger at the end.

So we continue our journey with Kate and Neil. What I love about this second installment is that we get to see much more into their relationship. How they handle problems together and also the continued protectiveness of Neil and Kate's ability to lean on him not only for support but safety as well. Creepo (Roger) is still psychotic and freaky as hell. Uh he just gives me the chills!! I also enjoy that we get to know more details regarding Kate and Neil's friendships. The steam is just as present in this installment as the first and the angst of course is just as intense. The emotions this read elicited range from grief to giddiness, to fear and many in between. Is there a helluva cliffhanger, yes BUT your craving for more will soon be fulfilled. Carlie, you blow me away and I'm so very thankful that the 3rd installment will be out later this month: "Given to You". Now give this a try!!
