Halloween has arrived and so has everyone’s favorite ghost: Rachel. Invited to a Halloween party, Mel and her friends hope to enjoy a night of fun. The party soon turns sour when a man turns up dead during a murder mystery game.
While Detective Shorts is busy questioning everyone who attended the party, Mel and her friends start their own investigation. Apparently neither the author nor the editor believe in commas nor do they believe in consistent tenses. The storytelling also lacks depth although the premise was promising. There are spelling errors, typos, factual errors, and characters who consistently behave stupidly but are somehow successful at solving mysteries.
I wanted a cute, light story and it did fit meet those requirements but it was poorly written.

It's party time!
Halloween has come around and Mel, Greg, and Jackie have been invited to a Halloween party. Oh yeah, and Rachel tags along too (yup, she's back)! Everybody is having a great time when suddenly, one of the guests is killed right then and there, in front of everyone! Detective Shorts and some other officers in blue show up and start interrogating the guests, trying to figure out what the heck happened at the party. Mel herself stays out of it and lets the police do their job... HA! Did you actually fall for that? Because she totally did not do that, lol. Detective Shorts has pretty much resigned himself to getting Mel's help whether he likes it or not, so Mel goes off to investigate the murder her own way, with the help of her friends, of course. Drunk ghosts, evil twins (maybe?), and lost money... oh my!
Yes, I did day drunk ghost... it was the funniest thing EVER! It's one of the things I love about this series: even though the books can be rather thrilling and suspenseful (which I love!), it can make me laugh like nobody's business!
I LOVE the characters! Rachel is hilarious, Greg is super sweet, and Mel is just really likable! The mystery itself was actually kind of good, if not a little predictable. But I do love that it was fast-paced and action-packed, taking place all in one night! It was so much fun! This series is fun! I've been binge reading this series and I am completely addicted! Cannot wait to get more!
