I wasn't enthused about reading this one in the series. I wasn't into the business the heroine was in, with the lingerie store and the big fuss it created in town.

The snippet at the beginning from a scene in the book didn't endear me to her: 'She was a woman who knew men, who knew how to make them desire her and ensure that they didn't regret it.'

The writing was a little old-fashioned:
'She could barely think, so distracted and aroused and trembling was she.'
There were sentences like 'for she was.'
'"I can't keep covering so many tables, nor picking up extra shifts."' This is a high schooler talking.

We have to hear about his HS gf, how they'd sneak out and ride and 'did other things, too.' How they had a pregnancy scare senior work and were more vigilant after that. I really hate stuff like that in books. Idk why heroines ask about his past. Who actually wants to know that? And who wants to discuss exes anyway?

I was just glad the heroine wasn't a virgin,& had been with her fair share of men. Thank you for that. It was a refreshing change and I like to see a more even scale regarding sexual pasts.

After one very basic comment about fame and how people will forget about Josh soon enough, he looks her up online. Her big skeletons in the closet are a few drunken, party photos and her shopping. And a topless one suntanning that you can't even really see. Because Josh tries to zoom in and it gets grainy. This was all a little bit creepy to me.

I thought it was interesting how cops book up hotels where they work the fairs and farmers sleep on cots and hay bales by their animals' stalls, because I've been to my state fair several times. It's funny to think of the farmers sleeping by their animals.

It turns out Josh has a racy photo from his past too. A naked fountain incident. Where his friends dared each other to run naked from the hot tub to hotel fountain& the girls they were with took photos. It was only five years ago, not even when he was in college or HS. I thought he's a grown man, I didn't know his age for a long time, but it turns out he's only in his mid-twenties.
It wasn't until page 197 that we're told their ages. She's 30,& he's 27. Just a personal thing, but I don't like it when the heroine is older than the hero.

Whitney wouldn't have made it to the papers. Who cares about one rich kid? Unless she's a celebrity or daughter of someone really important. Just cause her family founded this company or something does not make her that important. People used to want Whitney's signature, and paparazzi followed her.
Then Josh ends up in the paper too, as if he's even remotely important enough. It was all very unrealistic.

It was annoying and repetitive how Josh and his family would make comments about him working too much, or how he had so many demands on his leather hobby. Yet no one would actually suggest anything, or do anything about it.
It annoyed me how Whitney didn't seem concerned that Josh was working too much, when he only wanted it to be a hobby.

I thought it would be used as conflict when she found out Josh looked her up online and saw he photos but she wasn't even mad.

"And don't worry, I've had a condom in my wallet like a teenager since the day we met."

They set up a Facebook fan page for him. Eye roll.
The book took an odd turn when she becomes some kind of detective investigating the woman behind the fan page and articles of him, as if it's that big a deal. And how she wouldn't just tell him. Especially now, looking back, when he wasn't even mad about it, she could have told him.

She tells Josh's grandma she just turned 30, then later tells readers she was about to turn 30.

Idr the love scenes being as steamy as they were in here.

Whitney finds out the widows are behind his fan club, egging his fans on and risking mail fraud and she actually finds it funny. I was irritated at the already annoying, scheming, matchmaking old ladies.
One was using her own grandson to gain money for their preservation fund,& didn't even feel remorseful that it's illegal.
I thought of overworked Josh, stretched thin with ranch work and his leather making that was only supposed to be a hobby,& how he's now hounded by strangers and reporters in his own hometown and even at his house. And his grandma was to blame. I would stop talking to my family if they did that to me. And the old biddies actually justified their actions.

It felt like déjà vu reading the part of her brother cheating and her family needing her back. I wondered if I had read this before.

Josh finally finds out his grandma and company are behind the Facebook page,& he too finds it funny. Though I'm failing to see anything even remotely funny about it.
His grandma is unrepentant, isn't remorseful, or embarrassed. Because using her grandson was for a good cause.

Chasz(why is it spelled like that? That's not a nickname of Charles) saying he'd start a rumor or Josh's gf filming them having sex was freaking awful.

It was so obvious Emily's sister Steph would take over the bakery, so Emily could go on her honeymoon.

The heroines of this book and the first one are too similar. Both are out of towners, and both from San Francisco. Both setting up a business in town. Seriously, do all the women in this series own a shop on main street?

Whitney ended up crazy, thinking Josh was trying to pull away,& even after he tells her he loves her she says "you love me? And this is how you tell me, as if it's unimportant, just a side topic?"
"You love me, but I'm not worth fighting for." When she never wanted a relationship in the first place!
He proposes even though they've only been dating a matter of weeks,& Brooke and Adam just got engaged and they'd been dating a long time. In the epilogue Brooke even teases her that he copied her on becoming engaged.
He said he wanted kids even though they'd never discussed it.
She didn't want kids, but of course has to change her mind when she sees Josh with those kids.
Sometimes it would be nice for a heroine and hero not to want kids.
She's pregnant, before they even got married. Even though she didn't say she wanted kids. He says she better make him a husband first. Which is a flip on the usual making an honest woman first, so that was kinda cute.
A book doesn't have to end in a proposal, especially when they've barely been dating. Because it doesn't feel believable or that it will last. It would have been better if they agreed to live in the town and date.

I was disappointed in what was used for the drama. There was no real separation of the MC's.
It was better in the beginning, and then the side characters started getting annoying. The widows aren't funny or charming to me at all.
The heroine annoyed me a little too at the end.
I love a good separation,& this didn't have that.
It was also too unrealistic that she and Josh became famous. The whole thing was ridiculous.

I expected a lot more from this book. Her business was the focal point when she moved into town, but in here there wasn't much on the business. He makes some drawings for her, but I don't even know if he made them yet. I honestly expected this to go into more kinky territory, with her wearing the things Josh made. For someone who has a lingerie business and who lived up to the ideals of that, they didn't even do anything with his leather.

Very good story of opposites attracting. Whitney is a city girl who has overcome the objections of some of the townspeople to open her shop Leather and Lace. She is focused on getting the new store up and running, and trying not to be distracted by cowboy artist Josh. Josh has spent most of his life in Valentine Valley. He has his work on the family ranch and his leatherwork business to keep him busy.

Whitney comes from a wealthy family that is not very close. After being told by her father that there is no place for her in the family business because she is a woman, she starts her own business of high end lingerie. When she decides to open a store in Valentine Valley she meets with some opposition (see True Love at Silver Creek Ranch) but overcomes most of it with the help of some local ladies. Eight months later she's back in town to move ahead with her plans. One of those includes getting Josh Thalberg to make some things for her shop. A steamy kiss she had shared with him has been on her mind ever since, but she doesn't want to mess up their business relationship.

Josh's family has been in the valley for generations. Working the family ranch is a big part of who he is, as is the leatherwork he makes and sells. The kiss that he shared with Whitney has been on his mind a lot. Now that she's back in town, that heat is only growing.

Thanks to their business together, Whitney and Josh spend a lot of time together. Whitney starts out wanting to keep it strictly business, but Josh wants to get more personal. He's very busy with the ranch and his business, but he still finds time to relax and have fun. He is determined to show Whitney that she can do the same thing. I loved seeing him draw her into so many activities, from riding to spending time with his family. I really enjoyed the way that he understood her and used that understanding to make her life better. His feelings for her grew stronger, but he wasn't sure that she would be happy with such a different life than what she'd been used to.

Whitney discovers that she really likes the pace of life in Valentine Valley. Her growing relationship with Josh is a large part if that. She's used to her relationships being much more casual and the one with Josh is far different. While she's ready to step things up a notch, she discovers that Josh is moving much more slowly. She's both frustrated and intrigued. I loved watching her get so much more involved than she's accustomed to. She was especially drawn to Josh's relationship with his family, which is so different than her own family dynamics. It was great to see how welcoming they were to her, especially as she and Josh grew closer. I also loved seeing her become part of the Valentine Valley community. It was heartwarming to see her develop friendships with the other women, something she'd never really had before. The community feeling plays a big part in the decisions she makes later.

While helping Josh negotiate a contract for some of his leather goods, she talked him into having some publicity pictures taken (he agreed only if she would go on a date with him). The pictures turned out to be really hot and went viral, creating a bit of a frenzy around him. I loved seeing him try to cope with the fame. The teasing he got from his friends and family was good natured and he took it all really well. The fun really started when it all hit social media, and the surprise came when it was finally revealed who was behind it.

There are some complications that arise when Whitney's family comes to visit. I really enjoyed seeing her confidence in herself that comes out during that visit. They bring an offer that Whitney would have loved a few years ago but only creates conflict within her now. I loved the family dinner that the Thalbergs invited the Winslows to. The following events create some battles that Josh and Whitney have to face, both separately and together, before they can reach their happy ever after.

I jumped in to the Valentine Valley series with book three, The Cowboy of Valentine Valley, without having read any of the previous books so I’ll admit I did have some confusion. The hero and heroine, Josh and Whitney, were introduced earlier and the series and their HEA was built to conclude in this novel so not having the back ground I would have if I started at book one did hurt my enjoyment, I think. Outside of that, I loved the story of local boy Josh and Hollywood hottie Whitney both making their own way in the world doing what they love, but their passions collide through their chosen professions. But that passion spills over in to their lives and they have to decide, can their dreams for the future include a future together? Really sweet story with some great secondary characters (who I assumed you originally met in books 1 and 2). I’m intrigued by the series and the novels from Emma Cane so I’m excited to try something else from her.

This is such a wonderful series. Each book makes me love the people of this town more and more. Josh is such a sexy man, you just want to take him home with you. He's also a good person who loves his family and friends. He's the perfect man for Whitney. She needs family in the worse way. You'll love the humor and love in this book. Can't wait for the next one.

This was the 3 in the series of Valentine Valley, there was some prior history before the two main characters Whitney and Josh in an earlier book. I wish I had started with book 1.

Overall, good read. Loved Josh the cowboy 🤠, he also was made leather items as a hobby and was selling them. Whitney whom he had before was opening another store in Valentine Valley and had asked him to make some items for her store Leather and Lace. Whitney grew up in a very wealthy family and always wanted to work in her fathers company but he would not let his female daughter join the firm. When trouble hits the business he looks toward Whitney for help. But can she leave her own business behind? This business venture with Josh how will this turn out?

A charming story of a city gal and a cowboy reuniting after a previous romantic encounter for business purposes. Although this book is part of a series and some of Whitney and Josh's past may reside in previous books, readers are still able to enjoy this as a solo novel. The interactions with each other and others - family, business-oriented, or otherwise - felt natural and realistic, and not too cliche. The conclusion to the story did seem a bit rushed and a bit cheesy in comparison to the rest. Overall, an enjoyable read and provoked my interest enough to check out the other books in the series.

The power to pick a book mid-series strikes again but looking at the library, they don't have the first two books so it looks like I start with #3. But anyway...
I really enjoyed this book. There were a lot of super adorable moments and it was nice not to have the usual equations that come with romance novels.

I love this story it is part of a series. The characters in this one are a laid back cowboy/rancher/artist with leather and a lingerie store owner. The characters are believable and have their own strong beliefs about family, friends, and careers.

I really this book. Whitney wants to open the her new store in Valentine Valley but some people don't like her lingerie.

Josh is going to made her necklaces and collars in leather. She becomes his agent for his leather goods. He makes leather shoulder bags and is getting notice for his leather works but also for his looks as he posed for photos.

I like their relationship. They take it slow and overcome their pasts. They find their love in spite of her family.
She wants Josh and only him. They have the love that was made just for them.
Good book

THE COWBOY OF VALENTINE VALLEY (Valentine Valley #3) by Emma Cane

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 28, 2014

Welcome to Valentine Valley, where the cowboys have many talents and love is waiting around every corner . . .

Ever since a heated late-night kiss—that absolutely should not have happened—cowboy Josh Thalberg makes former Hollywood bad girl Whitney Winslow's pulse beat faster. But when she decides to use his gorgeous leatherwork in her new upscale lingerie shop, Leather & Lace, she's determined to keep their relationship strictly professional . . . even if she wants so much more.

Josh has never met a challenge he isn't up for. Which is probably why he allowed Whitney to persuade him to take the sexy publicity photo that went viral—and now has every woman in America knocking down his door . . . every woman except the one he can't get out of his head.

But how to convince a reformed bad girl that some rules are worth breaking?

REVIEW: THE COWBOY OF VALENTINE VALLEY is the third full length storyline (fifth story) in Emma Cane’s Valentine Valley western romance series. This is cowboy/leather designer Josh Thalberg and lingerie business owner Whitney Winslow’s story. Whitney has returned to Valentine Valley eight months after approaching the town people about her desire to open up her third ‘Leather and Lace’ lingerie boutique and eight months following the kiss that has turned her dreams upside down. Although this is the third full length story it can be read without too much difficulty. Many of the previous storyline characters play an integral role in THE COWBOY OF VALENTINE VALLEY.

The focus of THE COWBOY OF VALENTINE VALLEY is Josh and Whitney’s building relationship and the drama surrounding small town mentality with the hopes of keeping the riff-raff at bay. When Whitney approached Josh about a designer line of leather collars for her shop, she had no idea the media fall-out that would occur when a few pictures of Josh showing his leather goods went viral on the social media networks. Add some enterprising ‘grandmas’ and the tabloid paparazzi and, Josh and Whitney will find themselves front and center in a small town scandal. Hoping to track down the people responsible, Whitney is surprised when the source of the problem is someone very close.

The relationship between Whitney and Josh is a second chance at love between two people who are perfect for one another but from different lifestyles and financial backgrounds. The romance is sensual and slow to build as our couple take the time to discover one another.

Emma Cane pulls the reader into a romantic tale set in a picturesque world where friends meet and fall deeply in love. It is a story (and series) where romance fuels the senses and love deepens the plot. The characters are colorful and approachable-they are people with hopes and dreams; heartbreak and sorrow; loves and dislikes. The world building continues as the Valentine Valley regulars draw in the reader for a peek at the past and the future storylines that have yet to be told.

The Cowboy of Valentine Valley is the third installment of the Valentine Valley series. Now this is a new author for me, and I am really starting to like her writing. I tend to be picky about contemporaries, but throw a sexy cowboy in the mix, and I am hooked. Although after reading this one, made me wish I had read the second book. I wasn't too lost but as I was reading this story, I felt like it would be a advantage to read this series in order. However despite all that, I found this story to be quite a stirring read. It definitely has quite a bit of displayed emotion that sets the reader on edge. It was interesting seeing this couple together. They both have come from totally opposite sides of the tracks. Whitney, is from a high class family, with plenty of wealth. But she is far from being a snob. She ends up creating her own business and is now setting up the third location in Valentine Valley. Josh is quite a busy bee, having his days filled with business on the ranch and working with leather and other talents. Josh and Whitney keep ending up together, and we see the beginning of a slow courtship.

The first half of the book does start out slow, so it does take a little while to get fully immersed into the story. But I felt once the plot picked up paced a bit, that's when it starts to really get interesting. Of course I don't wish to spoil the story for those that haven't read it, but I really love the turn of events when Whitney's family comes to visit, and boy do tensions rise. complications interfere with the pleasant and comfortable relationship that Whitney and Josh have going on. Now there are some battles they both have to face if they wish for a HEA for each other and themselves. The characters in the story are easy to love and very warm and inviting to the reader. They don't 100% capture the heart, but I found myself being captivated by the beautiful bond that Whitney and Josh have.

In this story, we see that no matter the background, that two people can make a relationship work, even if its a bit bumpy and rocky. There is such a free spirited feeling to this story that is woven in such a way, it will steal your heart!

*This book was given to me for a fair and honest review*

Whitney and Josh heat up the pages of The Cowboy of Valentine Valley!

After sharing a steamy kiss months before, Josh and Whitney come face to face yet again in Valentine Valley. Whitney is trying desperately to keep things all business with she and Josh, but he has other ideas…..

Wow! What a steamy couple! The chemistry between Josh and Whitney threatened to burn up the pages as I read! I loved their back and forth, will they or won’t they sexual tension. Josh was a dream – a cowboy with a heart of gold and abs that can cut glass. He was as sweet and sexy as they come. Whitney’s scared indecision bothered me somewhat but it did not make me like her character any less. She was a sassy, strong business woman. I love strong women in my books!!!

The one downside I found was that the storyline dragged on a little bit for me. Maybe I wanted Whitney to get over herself and just be with him so badly that I felt that it took forever.

I really enjoyed The Cowboy Of Valentine Valley. The author does a great job of incorporating characters from past and future books. I love the Widows! Talk about comic relief!

This is a series but each book can be read as a stand alone as each character is reintroduced in every story. There are no cliffhangers (I know this is important to some). This series would be a great springtime or summer beach read for any romance fan!

This has been such a fun series to read! In this latest book, Josh Thalberg meets Whitney Winslow when she decides to feature some of his leather work in her new store. Whitney has had problems in Valentine because her shop is an upscale lingerie store and that rubbed some of the older residents the wrong way. Whitney has worked her way from "Wild Whitney", a party girl, to a respected businesswoman. When she meets Josh and decides to help him negotiate a new sale with another store, she starts in motion something she couldn't expect. When Josh suddenly becomes the sexy cowboy face of his leather company, he and Whitney find their relationship under the spotlight.

I liked that way that Josh and Whitney brought out the best in each other and were able to handle revelations about past issues with maturity. Whitney was ready to kick it up a notch before Josh but he handled it in a way that was respectful and didn't make her feel bad. The magic of Valentine helped Whitney learn to relax and see how a loving family and having real friends could change her life for the better. Josh even took the whole sex symbol thing in stride until it interfered with their relationship in a serious way. A sexy, compassionate guy and a fun loving but responsible woman makes for a great romance read.

As in all series, part of the fun was seeing the characters from previous books and how their lives have continued. There is a sneak peek of the next book - A Promise at Bluebell Hill- at the end which will make you want to read it now but it's not published until March.

I began Cane's series a little backwards-I read #4 first and then The Cowboy of Valentine Valley (#3) second. Once again, I did not feel as though I was missing anything. Emma Crane is able to tell the story in such a way that the reader becomes immediately familiar with the Valentine Valley natives and all of their family members and connections.

In this story, Josh Thalberg ( the cowboy--SWOON...) and his family have been well established in Valentine Valley for generations. His grandmother and the other "widows" as they are known in this series, are a hoot. The Thalbergs own a large ranch & work closely to maintain their family legacy. This is in contrast to the way Whitney Winslow grew up. Whitney has led a priviledged and at times wild lifestyle. They say opposites attract and in this instance it is true.

Josh & Whitney have an instant attraction, however, it takes a lot for them to develop their relationship into something deeper. There are obstacles and struggles along the way. They each have something to prove to the other, their families and to themselves.

I enjoyed this one and I think other readers will too. I am not sure how one can resist a cowboy anyway!

As always, another zinger from Emma Cane! OH my Gosh, the part in the pasture where Josh and Whitney move the herds? HOT!!! I loved Josh, just as sexy as his brother Nate, and I thought it ironic that he was all concerned over Nate spreading himself thin in the first book when the tables turned in The Cowboy of VV and HE was overwhelming himself. I loved the church festival and Ferris ride. The widows antics crack me up. Whitney was different from the other girls this far, very clear in her seductive intentions and confident about herself. I really enjoy the friendship dynamic between the girls, Brooke Monica Emily and Whitney. I was disappointed that Heather wasn't involved in this book but I guess she is organizing her move from San Francisco. The men of VV have REALLY set the bar high for me!!! And it's not over the top, just true honest "this is love and I know it and I'm going to keep it and honor it" stuff. Isn't that how it should be? So romantic! I also like how more B&B's, stores, and restaurants are being introduced, it adds to the image in my head of the town I've come to love. I'm so excited for the next book about Monica, flower shop owner!

I'm beginning to like this series more and more. It's still not my usual book and while I understand the appeal of the cowboy aspect for heterosexual women, it's completely lost on my queer self. What I do appreciate is the emotions that Emma Cane pulls from the hero and the heroine. And those Grandmas are a hoot. I love that they are so involved in the community and that they are valued members of that community even if they are busybodies.

I really liked Josh. He was fun, patient, and easygoing even when Whitney was determined to play. He figures out what he wants fairly quickly but has to convince Whitney to join in the fun. There courtship includes lots of ridiculous but really fun drama. I loved that this book was really about Josh and Whitney and doesn't try to include all the previous romances.

This story ended really fast. I did not feel like Whitney resolved her issues in a satisfying manner. One minute she's full of conflict (self created as far as I'm concerned), the next she's figured it all like it just suddenly made sense. Maybe I'm too critical but I was definitely sideswiped by her revelation.

Thanks to Tasty Book Tours and Emma Cane for the opportunity to read these two great stories. I truly enjoyed these two stories and can't wait to read the other books in the series.
The Cowboy of Valentine Valley:
Whitney came to Valentine to open a new store, she faced opposition, but Josh's support and agreement to make pieces for her store creates a business relationship. Whitney makes a pass at Josh eight months earlier, she leaves town and wonders if she hurt the new business agreement. When Whitney returns to Valentine to begin the construction and opening of her business, her and Josh begin their relationship and it progresses from there.

The relationship that Josh and Whitney build was one that made me laugh and made me cry. Whitney gets Josh to recognize that he can't do everything for everyone all the time. Josh gets Whitney to see the joy of small town life.

I love the three Widows and can see that they bring a lot of mischief to Valentine.

I wanted a long time for the next installment in the Valentine Valley series, and reading this book was like a visit with old friends.

For much of the first two books, I sort of viewed Josh as sort of the goofy, often irresponsible younger brother, but he definitely comes into his own. So far Adam is still my favorite Valentine hero, but Josh is right up there. The heat between him and Whitney is palpable from the first pages, and I love how Cane portrays Whitney as a capable, smart businesswoman in her own right. The swiftness of the ending threw me for a little bit of a loop (I won't go into any details because I definitely don't want to spoil things) but it was in character for Josh and totally satisfying.

Sweet small-town romance. Heroine is the owner of a lingerie store she's trying to expand into a third location. Hero is a rancher and leather artist in the town where she wants to expand. She's already put the moves on him-- kissed him anyway, but he backed off because she was a little too tipsy. Now she wants to be strictly professional. But he and the other folks in town have other ideas. She helps him negotiate with a store owner to sell handbags, the store owner wants to take pictures of the sexy cowboy to help sell the bags, and he winds up with a Facebook fan club and a few paparazzi following him. This causes a large part of the conflict, since the heroine was a bit of a wild child in her past. It's a nice, lighthearted story. I liked it.

This was a great story about how opposites attract, and maybe they're not so different after all. I usually like to start at the beginning with a series, but I'm glad I jumped right into this one. The characters are all very likeable and the plot status interesting throughout. I'm glad that not every secret or issue was a fight between the main characters. They behaved like reasonable adults, for the most part, just like people in meal life do, for the most part. I looked the setting of Valentine Valley, and I think I might have to order the whole series for my library. I know my patrons will love it!

This book was very touching with the vision, patients and focus of each other's feelings that gradually grew into forever true love. I also liked your detailed description of the interior and exterior of each house, restaurants, bars, ranch, cattle dogs, the horses, the fountains with it's steam. Oh well... I could easily picture every thing in your stories. The vision of the beautiful mountains from a distance. I truly enjoyed this book.
Valentine Valley is a wonderful series.
Thank you very much Emma. I will definitely read the rest of this series.
Sincerely yours,

Loved this one! Josh Thalberg is laid back, confident, talented and sexy as hell. When Whitney Winslow returns to Valentine Valley to get her new Leather and Lace location up and running Josh knows this may be his one chance to turn that amazing kiss they shared into something more. This is a great small town romance series and this book is a great one in the series. I definitely recommend it.

I'm just a sucker for stories that end good. This one certainly does and I love it. Lovely easy reading. So relaxing and believable. Cannot wait for her next book. To all of you that like entertaining books, just grab it, read it and enjoy it. Or should I say - download it and enjoy it. Have good time doing it just like I did.y
