Devon stops to recollect his thoughts. Pat watches his face carefully. Rachel Krieg's body is at the coroner's now, and they soon would have her time of death.
Devon goes on, "She was dressed in a mauve silk robe. She told me to come in. I did. I headed for the playroom, as I always do, undressing as I walked."
"Was anyone else in the apartment?"
"Not that I know of."
"Are you sure?"
He pauses to contemplate this. "Yes, very."
"What happened next?"
His Adam's apple moves like a mouse down his long throat. He has a very graceful neck, she notices.
"She asked me to enter the playroom. And so I did. I was naked by then."
"Completely naked?"
"Yes, I believe so."
"Are you sure?"
"What difference does it make whether or not I'm completely naked?"
Pat regards his stormy green eyes. "Because the police found a bracelet on the floor of the corridor outside the playroom. It is made out of little shells. Is it yours?"
He flinches for a moment. His complexion goes deathly pale.
"Yes," he whispers.

Devon is a suspect in one of his client's (Rachel's) murder. Abbie (his gf) comes from money and is able to hire him a lawyer with money from her trust. We learn Rachel was pregnant with Devon's child and we find out Rachel proposed to have Devon's baby for the sum of $20,000, however he declined, unaware she was already pregnant. The story ends where Devon discovers he is named in her will. Still a lot of unanswered questions, looking forward to reading the third installment of this series!

Enjoyable read but feel it's cheeky to have divided into four different books when one or two twice the size would have done.
The characters develop throughout the story as you learn more about their past & how it affects them now/the events of the story.
Just being picky, there are a few disappointing spelling errors.

A Great Continuation!
I can't wait to continue on with these characters. Each one is developed very well and I feel as if I am getting to know them very well. Can't wait to see how they all develop.

Next in series
1st Devon is accused of murder,then he gets an inheritance from the woman he supposedly kills. Abby is trying to help him as well tell as herself- but has secrets of her own.. a lot of secrets..

Love, love, love, but hate that I now have get the next one to finish the story. I need to stop buying and finish all the books on my kindle now. Great characters though and can't wait to learn more about them

This book picks up where the first book left off. I loved this book. I love the characters. I would recommend this book.
