Andrei Nedelcu is a licensed psychologist who has written several books delving into challenging mental health conditions. In this book, he attempts to write "The Ultimate" guide to treatment of complex PTSD.
Nedelcu begins by explaining what Complex PTSD is, what separates it from things like borderline personality disorder and PTSD. Along the way he tells stories that highlight different aspects of what complex PTSD is and what sorts of symptoms might manifest in the life of someone who is dealing with it. He stresses the fact that while we think of PTSD as being a military problem, there are many people who struggle with it who have never been in combat zones.
Throughout the book, Nedelcu discusses how to deal with triggers, different breathing and relaxation techniques to use when a flashback occurs, and how to create safe spaces in which to retreat when PTSD symptoms increase.
Overall, there is a strong message of hope. Just because things are bad doesn't mean that they will always be bad and there are effective techniques that can be used that will settle the mind and help the individual who is struggling move in the direction of healing.
