Once again, adventure arises for Smith and Bea. Only this time, it's Bea who dives into trouble. Bea who faces the dark side of her soul. And, it is Bea who has to decide just how deep into the darkness she is willing to go.
The only question remaining is will Smith meet her there or will he pull her back out?
Bea was worried her new daughter who Smith brought home would be taken by her birth mother. She dreamed about it and worried when she was awake. Smith is away and she decides to visit the orphanage while he is gone. She doesn't go alone but she is really upset by her visit. Bea can't help herself she takes another baby home with her. She finds the children and from babies on up do not have enough of the things they need, especially food. She goes back with her friends and they take twins but the difference will be made with Vi and Jack supporting the orphanage. Their new editions to the families will be loved by all. I wanted to adopt one of them in reading this.
I absolutely love these books. Both the vi and Victor series as well as the Smith investigation series is so fun. The characters are well developed as they’ve been introduced and I’ve loved seeing how the storyline has progressed. This is one series you must read absolutely from the beginning to get the full experience of the story. I love that each story has a mystery to solve and everyone comes together to solve it. I cannot wait for the next book. I’m excited for Vi to have her baby.
Beatrice is haunted by worry about the mother of her new daughter. Was the adoption truly legal or had they unwittingly stolen a baby from a mother who really wanted her? Smith was not so bothered. He was perfectly clear that Calliope was theirs no matter her background, But Beatrice, caught in the throws of postpartum depression can’t let it go and with Smith out of town, she starts her own investigation, drawing all of their friends into it, too and inadvertently expanding their family.
Bored w the inane interactions between spoiled Vi and friends, this book was a refreshing change. Hoping more on the orphanage and more little lives changed including Agatha's friend, all the babies adopted, help for the mothers, and new lives for the older kids. If we can work so hard to find good homes for dogs and cats, why dont we do the same for children. I wish I had the money to do so...
These Smith Investigates are fun reading, but they are much shorter than the original series that it sprang from. Not sure if this is normal for a second series, but it is frustrating.
Otherwise, it is nice to have characters from an original series get their separate stories. I like that we get to see all of the characters with their own personalities and quirks.
I have to say that I think this is my Favorite Smith Investigates so far!! Had me smiling and cheering during so many parts. A really wonderful advocate for adoption and understanding of the birth mothers involved and their different stories and difficult choices.
I enjoyed this book and love how Bea and her ‘family’ work to help and care for others. However, there were a lot of misspelled words and confusing names in this book.
No matter what is going badly, God can set them right because God is love. That's what makes this novel a pleasure to read. For all who enjoy mysteries and solutions to them, this is a great way to spend your time.
I loved thus story. I love the young girl, agatha. I love the adoptions. Loved the ending. The very masculine Smith with three daughters! Poor girls..wait until they begin to date.
I particularly enjoyed this book as it followed Adoption of unwanted babes. Another interesting book in the World of Violet Carlyle-Wakefield and friends.
