A Poignant Poetry Book About Love and Life- Life is a collection of moments, both big and small, that shape who we are and who we become. These moments come in all forms, from joy to pain, love to loss, and everything in between. They are the threads that make up the tapestry of our lives, weaving together to create a unique and complex story. Just like any good story, it has highs, lows, and unexpected plot twists. But through it all, we must learn to find meaning and beauty in every moment.
For it is in these moments that we discover who we truly are, and with his latest work, "Mumbo Jumbo... I Love You," Poet and Author Kewayne Wadley presents a mesmerizing collection of poetry that celebrates the profound beauty of life, love, and self.
I enjoyed this as a "before bed" read. While yes, it is a sweet and short read, it does get you pretty deep into feelings of mush. You feel for Wadley, and yourself. You feel warm and fuzzy. You feel connected in that we've all been there.
"Whether it can be labeled as love, or if it comes out as “Mumbo Jumbo.” One of the best feelings in the world is being there."
First off, I'm not really a poetry guy. I won this, and to broaden myself, I jumped in to read. I'm so glad I did! I absolutely love this short poetry book and the many ways love is expressed. Will definitely return to this many times.
Book Review – Mumbo Jumbo… I Love You by Kewayne Wadley
Kewayne Wadley’s Mumbo Jumbo… I Love You is a heartfelt and lyrical exploration of love, life, and the many emotions that shape the human experience. Through a diverse collection of poems, Wadley captures moments of passion, longing, joy, loss, and wonder, weaving them together into a tapestry that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.
What stands out most is the range—playful verses like Lost the Remote Again! balance beautifully with the haunting vulnerability of Can’t Sleep or the tender freedom of Barefoot in the Wind. Each poem is crafted with vivid imagery and lyrical flow, making the emotions leap off the page. Wadley doesn’t just write about love as romance; he explores it in its messiness, its contradictions, and its power to transform.
This collection is as likely to bring a tear as it is to leave you smiling with nostalgia. It feels like sitting with an old friend who understands the weight of heartbreak and the sweetness of simple joys.
