I was fortunate enough to get a review copy of this and found it gave the teaching on what the Holy Spirit does in Christian life in a clear and practical way. Sadly, many Christians remain totally in the dark about what the Holy Spirit does and can do to make a Christian's life effective and powerful. It is an inspired work and I highly recommend it to believers. If your Church has a library, a copy of this is a must.

The author does excellent at describing who the Holy Spirit is and showing how much he can help you grow in your spiritual life. The subtitle, “Longing To Hear The Voice Of God,” states what every Christians desire should be.

I learned from reading this book, which is not something that happens every time you read a book! I liked how organized the chapters were. I enjoyed the personality of the author that you could definitely see with her personal stories.

There are not many books about the Holy Spirit out there that give such a practical look at who the Holy Spirit is. This book is so simple to read and understand. You will learn how he can help you, the ways he gets your attention and even how to respond to him.

I gave this book 5/5 stars. I thought it was informative as well as easy to read. I like this author and would recommend any of her other books as well.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Lead Me, Holy Spirit by Stormie Omartian takes readers through the steps to a closer relationship with the Holy Spirit. This jewel of a book uncovers all aspects of our lives that we can surrender to the Holy Spirit to obtain peace, joy, happiness, and more importantly, a closer walk with the Lord.

Book chapters cover how to receive, hear, worship, and discern the Holy Spirit. Other topics include how to be led to bear good fruit, see purpose, pray, follow, and be transformed by the Holy Spirit. Readers will find the chapter on allowing God’s Spirit to lead you to be separated intriguing. Separate from what? Omartian states those of us who live with the Holy Spirit in us should be different from those who do not possess it. We must separate ourselves from all things not of God so the world can see the beauty of God within us.

We are to separate from the world. As the author notes, this does not mean to isolate ourselves from the unsaved, but refuse to allow ourselves to be influenced by ungodly things or people. We are to touch the world with the love of God and not be influenced by its practices. Scripture says we are to influence them, not allow them to influence us (Jeremiah 15:19).

Omartian says once the Spirit of God lives inside of us, the first thing He will do is lead us away from sin. Sin separates us from God. However, the separation originates from us, not God. Instead of confessing and repenting of sin, we tend to distance ourselves from God. We must rid ourselves of sin. Scripture shows we all have it. “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8). If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior and continue to sin, it does not mean the Holy Spirit is not with you. It means you have not surrendered those areas of your life to the Spirit where you continue to fall short of God’s glory.

Lead Me Holy Spirit by Stormie Omartian Audiobook
Listening to the Lead Me Holy Spirit Audiobook, read by Renee Raudman, was such a refreshing, relaxing experience. The narrator used soothing tones, precise enunciation, at a slow pace throughout the book. At various points, she lowered her voice as if she was about to reveal a joyous secret, adding emphasis to the reading. She deftly displayed her acting talents in areas of the book open to such interpretations.

Book chapters, broken down into subsections, enabled the author to dissect the topic at hand. She closes each subsection with “Prayer Power,” a beautiful prayer read expertly by the narrator and “Word Power,” Scripture related to the chapter subject. Lead Me, Holy Spirit by Stormie Omartian provides a solid foundation for anyone interested in learning more about the Holy Spirit.

Every Christian needs to read and study this book. Lead Me, Holy Spirit changed my life. Dissatisfied with your Christian life and Christian walk? Not quite filled up with joy? Struggling to do what God asks you to do? Stormie Omartian and God take us on a journey where we discover and finally understand the Third Person of the Trinity — The Holy Spirit — Who empowers us and equips us to become the Christian men and women God intended — people who impact this world for Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. I read this book once and I'm reading again. Powerful!

This book is on an interesting topic and is written in a very readable style. Stormie quotes lots of bible references and personal experiences as she encourages us to draw closer to God through walking in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. There are a couple of sections where I'm not sure I entirely agree with her statements but it certainly has made me think about the issues. Overall this is a well researched and thought provoking book that has made me reconsider many aspects of my relationship with God and is well worth a read.

This book is very helpful and easy to read. It clearly and simply explains the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian. It explains how to recognize His voice speaking into your heart and suggests prayers to help the reader move forward in the journey of discovering a closer walk with God. Well written and well worth reading.

This book was a game changer in my spiritual walk with God. I'd been doing a bible study and everything coincided with what I was learning at the time. To see just how the Holy Spirit works in different areas in our lives and to experience this while reading the book was amazing.

There was great info in this book, however it felt a little like a cookbook telling me to do everything perfectly to see the Holy Spirit work. I don't disagree with what she is saying, I just think the balance of grace and love in that relationship was missing in this book.

I liked this a lot. This is the first book I have read by the author and I was impressed. She does a great job of providing a lot of great, biblical information on the Holy Spirit while at the same time keeping it relevant and very easily applicable to everyday life.

She reminds us that the Holy Spirit is there to guide us, grant us wisdom and discernment, and help us know God's will for our lives. However, we must walk daily with God in order to be more aware of His voice and His will for us, and not just wait until we are in a crisis to reach out to Him. Knowing we are doing His will will result in a peace and confidence which we cannot have any other way! To paraphrase the author: "Lifting God up in praise and worship will result in Him lifting us up in ways we never could have imagined."

Being a true Christian is so much more than just going to heaven when we die. It is having discernment, peace and joy on earth, being able to pray, and having the gift of the Spirit's guidance and wisdom while we are here.

This is a great resource for established and new believers alike. I definitely plan to read more of her books. Recommended for everyone!

I really enjoyed this book and will strive to put into practice things I gleaned from it. The Holy Spirit is an integral part of our Christian journey, and I appreciated the reminder I got from this book. I know the Spirit has worked in me for many years, has guided me and counseled me. I look forward to many more years serving the Lord.

This is a great book speaking of the Holy Spirit and how much we need Him. Stormie O'Martin is a great author. We used this book and study guide as a Bible study for our Women's Circle at church. Some things she speaks of throws up some flags to me as a Reformed Presbyterian but for the most part she is right on target.

Her study book has great questions but tends to be a little redundant in them - asking the same question 10 different ways. Each month our facilitator just took part of the questions to discuss.

Would recommend reading for a closer look at the Holy Spirit and His place in your life.

Excellent book of prayer! It stirred memories of God's blessings and guidance in my life. It also provided prayers for where I am now and for God's direction and correction for now and the future. It blessed me with every page I read.

What I've learned:

1. The Holy Spirit is not a figment of our imagination. He's a real person. But for the longest while it didn't always feel that way to me. I couldn't fully comprehend that.

2. Many of us have an anaemic (new word) idea of God. We see Him as less than He actually is. Because of that view, we limit ourselves in how we can approach Him.

3. There are things (dark things) that we struggle with, that God is waiting for us to come to Him about so that He can heal us. Nothing is wrong with you for struggling. Everybody has a or multiple problems. It doesn't diminish your love for Jesus. It doesn't reduce your salvation if you aren't suddenly perfect.

4. God feels. He knows. He's not a robot.

5. God is holy. So you are holy. The entire point of Jesus dying on the cross was to bring us closer to to our Father. The closer we are to Him, the holier we are.

6. God equips us for the purpose we have ben created for. Stop doubting that you can do certain things because of self proclaimed inadequacy. Nothing God has ever done can be described as halfway.

7. Pray with boldness. When you go to your earthly parents you probably hesitate to ask for things, but God has given us the right to come and boldly ask. He will give us exactly what we need. Nothing less. Why hesitate?

My expectation reading this book, was that I would get a better understanding of who Holy Spirit is. How He operates in my life and how I should approach Him. And I realised about 3/4 way through that I kinda always knew the answers to those questions, but I didn't know how to apply it to my life realistically. I struggle with building relationships and my relationship with God has not been any different. And I finished this book not with all the answers but with a changed perspective.

Let me premise this by saying there were a few blips here and there that I don't agree with, in terms of how she views God and healing and how I see God when it comes to being healed. However, this book was truly a great and impactful read that I recommend for anyone who wants more out of their lives and desires a deeper relationship with the Trinity.

"The world makes things complicated. Jesus simplifies everything for us if we CHOOSE to follow Him."

"In the maze of deception and confusing information that is out there in the world, you will need discernment from God in order to successfully navigate through it."

"In order to prepare for a blessing from God, you must shut the door on doubt. Don't limit what God can do in your situation just because you can't imagine it"

"The consequences when we do not allow the Holy Spirit to lead us to the right place at the right time are not worth the selfish pleasure of taking things into our own hands and disobeying God."

"Don't be afraid of what Holy Spirit might do in and through you. Be afraid of what your life will be like if God's will is not done."

These are just a few quotes I've marked along the way to try and paint the picture of the different topics she addresses in the book. I will be reading again for sure. (4.5 🌟)

Stormie O’Martian has given us An encyclopaedia of Holy Spirit.

This is like many books in one. It’s a treatise on Holy Spirit, it’s a devotional on Holy Spirit, it’s a book of prayers calling Holy Spirit into your life, it’s an invitation to welcome Holy Spirit into your life. It is an encyclopaedia of Holy Spirit.

Become more aware of the presence of Holy Spirit, experience the glory of his goodness, receive the gifts he brings, receive the power he imparts into your life, recognise him doing the work of Christ in you.

Jesus did not intend for you to be without Holy Spirit. If you have not met him yet, read this book.

A must read. I learned so much about the priceless and precious gift of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers. I am more committed to living in His strength, love, and wisdom. I truly feel this book has deepened my walk as a Christ follower.

I would recommend purchasing the companion study guide along with this book to truly get into the verses that support these chapters. I read this book over 3+ months as a weekend devotional. Each chapter section was about 2-3 pages of content with an accompanying prayer and 2 verses. The study guide guides you through additional Bible verses and provides 2-3 pages of scripture review prompts.

Straightforward and practical presentation of the important of inviting the Holy Spirit to be central to the life of the follower of Jesus in every area of life. Nice balance between the necessity of the believer inviting the Spirit's entry and the means by which the power of the Spirit works and moves in and through the believer. Some parts were a bit short for my taste, but overall the work is solid. Might be an opportunity for others to pick up certain sections and build on them for further reading.
