Brian Wood's history of published work includes over fifty volumes of genre-spanning original material.
From the 1500-page future war epic DMZ, the ecological disaster series The Massive, the American crime drama Briggs Land, and the groundbreaking lo-fi dystopia Channel Zero he has a 20-year track record of marrying thoughtful world-building and political commentary with compelling and diverse characters.
His YA novels - Demo, Local, The New York Four, and Mara - have made YALSA and New York Public Library best-of lists. His historical fiction - the viking series Northlanders, the American Revolution-centered Rebels, and the norse-samurai mashup Sword Daughter - are benchmarks in the comic book industry.
He's written some of the biggest franchises in pop culture, including Star Wars, Terminator, RoboCop, Conan The Barbarian, Robotech, and Planet Of The Apes. He’s written number-one-selling series for Marvel Comics. And he’s created and written multiple canonical stories for the Aliens universe, including the Zula Hendricks character.
As a student, I found Brian Wood's Adobe Illustrator Classroom in a Book to be an invaluable resource for understanding the fundamentals of Adobe Illustrator. The book offers a very informative rudimentary rundown of basic Illustrator techniques, making it an excellent primer for those new to the software.
Each chapter is structured to enhance the learning experience, guiding the reader through a series of progressive lessons. Instructions are clear, detailed, and easy to follow. The inclusion of practical exercises and projects is particularly helpful, allowing readers to apply the concepts they learn directly. It is important to note that this book is geared more towards beginners, so those who may be looking for advanced techniques and an in-depth exploration of Illustrator's more complex features will likely find the content to be somewhat lacking. While the book does a fantastic job at laying a foundation, it doesn't venture far into the advanced territory.
Overall, Adobe Illustrator Classroom in a Book is a fantastic starting point for anyone embarking on their journey with Illustrator, though more experienced users might want to supplement this book with additional resources for advanced learning.
Took me about 2 months to go through all the courses. I like this format a lot more than video as I can easily find the part to refer back to instead of having to waste time skipping through a video. Would definitely recommend for beginners.
I worked with the 2024 release. I read this to chapter 10/16 but will go back to it once I get some practical practice. This book is excellent - step by step and project based. It is very easy to follow. I would definitely recommend this.
Most Beautiful book that me as Computer Technician became a Graphic designer after reading this book for a year. Sir Brian has given all his knowledge everything in details for us beginners to learn How to use the Adobe Illustrator software.
