The New York Times bestselling author of Get Rich Click! “demystifies and simplifies all things tech…For any overwhelmed, overloaded, or intimidated consumers or marketers, this book is a helpful, entertaining, and motivating resource” ( Publishers Weekly ).
Technology changes so fast that it’s easy to be intimidated by it. Our personal choices and business decisions are increasingly driven by digital “word of mouse”—and it’s essential to our success and satisfaction to take control of the gadgets, apps, and trends that are shaping our world.
Covering diverse topics from how the Internet affects our health to how we can become bargain-hunting pros, Marc Ostrofsky’s book could come at no better time. In Word of Mouse , Ostrofsky reveals the ways that new technologies implant themselves in our daily lives and how we can easily take advantage of them to live, learn, buy, sell, work, play, communicate, and socialize better. This book gives readers the tools they need to dig out from under the information overload.
A brilliantly thought-out assimilation of trends, case studies, forecasts, and tips for getting “plugged in,” Word of Mouse puts you in the driver’s seat of the world’s most powerful disruptive force to date and shows you how to get the most out of the web.
"Word of Mouse: 101+ Trends in How We Buy, Sell, Live, Learn, Work, and Play" by Marc Ostrofsky is very useful to read as a learning tool to help keep up with the many applications and social media possibilities. It is also an enjoyable read because it is so well organized and presented. Some of the explanations and resources included that were new to me, yet I have been wanting to learn about, were all about "crowd sourcing" and "crowd funding", as well as mobile shopping apps. There are so many ways to use the internet and if you are slightly behind in understanding some of these for either business or personal use, then this book is written just for you!
I would like to disclose that I acquired this book as a "first reads" winner and do thank the author and publishers for their generosity.

You don’t have to work hard to persuade me that technology is a good thing. I love gadgets. I love creativity and innovation. I’ve waiting practically overnight in lines for new videogame consoles and whatnot. Marc Ostrofsky feels the same way.
There are some neat ideas here. It is certainly a pep-rally for technology, however at points it devolves into an infomercial for websites and apps.
I’m sure he embedded malware into my kindle to track just what I thought.
NOT recommend. Lots of 'stuff' about latest digital trends. The book was very confusing despite the fact that I am very familiar with this subject area... Not well organized, too crammed in, stream of conscientiousness flow... The title 'Word of Mouse'...sounds a bit retro for a cutting edge trend book ('Mouse' reminds me of 80s hairstyle). The book covers says '101+ Trends' - list of which doesn't exist...
Only made it fifty pages into this one. Lots of common knowledge / common sense makes for a boring read. Didn't keep my attention. The whole "Marc" my words thing just made me want to slap someone.
