Lindsey: Love and Intrigue

Rate this book
Fifteen-year-old Lindsey Morgan Brooks is still considered the new kid in the small town of Emit, Michigan. Both of her parents are lawyers, but her father has built his reputation prosecuting some of the worst criminals in New York and Chicago. Now, as a high school junior, she is trying to choose her own path. Lindsey feels the demands and pressure from school, gymnastics, and her parents as she battles insecurities to build friendships while steering clear of the many land mines in high school-such as the group of popular girls she has dubbed the "Fab Five" Busy with activities and consumed with thoughts of her secret crush, Chris, she takes little notice of what's happening around her. She gets a flat tire, gets caught with the lights-out and starts receiving strange text messages-things she assumes are just high school pranks gone too far. Her father wants her to be able to handle herself, so she should be able to handle this. But while she steals a glimpse at Chris, who is watching her? "LINDSEY is a lovely YA tale of young love and deep intrigue. Lindsey Brooks faces a peril all the more invisible because of the seemingly normal veneer of popular girls and teen crushes she deals with at high school every day" Scott Turow, Best Selling Author and Authors Guild President

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.*

I really, really loved the book. The ups and downs created in Lindsey's life were described so well that I could literally imagine each and every detail of the book. I like that the book describes all the problems Lindsey faces just because her dad is a lawyer and all the problems in her life that make her miserable. It also shows how Lindsey deals with all of them. The insight on her life and her love is also very well described. I like the relationship between her and Chris is also very enchanting. The way Chris takes care of Lindsey when she is mad or she is down is another evidence of his love for her. The exciting tit-bits like the text messages, the enthralling chase and also the last line if the book make it every bit as thrilling as well as lovely. This book really shows how a man should take care of his girl and never let her down. Amazing book!!

Awesome!! Loved it!!

I received this book from the author free of charge in exchange for an honest review. I would like to thank Kimberly Kolb for the opportunity to read and review her book.

Wow, this book was amazingly written and drew me in right from the beginning. It was so full of suspense, drama, and romance. I could not put it down. I found myself thinking about it and wanting to go back to it when I was busy and couldn’t read it.

Lindsey is a quiet, sweet, well liked high school student who has a very busy life, between classes, homework, gymnastics and the school play. Add to that the attention of her long time crush and she has a lot going on in her life. Just as things start to look up for her she starts getting strange and creepy texts from different phone numbers that she can’t reply to. Then the disturbing incidents start and all of this is somehow related to a new case her dad, a well known prosecutor, is working on. She doesn’t want to worry or upset him and cause him to tighten her security any more than normal or step cause him to step down from the case, so she doesn’t say anything until things escalate and it’s almost too late.

I loved the characters and watching the relationship build between Lindsey and Chris was so sweet. I loved this book and highly recommend it!! The ending left me wanting so much more of Lindsey’s story.

This was a nice story, but half of it the book could be deleted. Too much inner dialogue. It needs a good editor just to go through the book and delete some of the repeated info. Also, I do not need to know the heroine's each and every thought. The heroine, Lindsey, was insecure, but I on one hand could understand some of it. She was 15 years old and really had very little attention given to her at school. However, towards the end of the book, I thought her insecurity got a little ridiculous and could not understand why the hero, Chris, wanted anything to do with her. And what happened to the other guy??? Did he go back to his ex? With all the inner dialogue, his status got lost. There is the "ex" and other high school stuff drama going on. There is also a mystery where someone is stacking Lindsey. Lindsey's father's attitude was a bit strange for a man who is supposed to care for his daughter.

I did not either life or dislike the main characters. Lindsey could be annoying. I really did not understand Chris at times. All the characters in the book came from money.

I am not sure if there will be a sequel. The book ended with a lot unanswered questions.

One word of advise to the author...cut half the inner dialogue!!!

Lindsey is a quiet, high school student who does gymnastics and also involved in the school plays. Chris is a guy that she has had a crush on for a long time, and then he starts noticing her. Everything seems to be going so great. Then she starts getting some very strange and creepy texts from different phone numbers that she can’t reply to. When these disturbing incidents start happening, she didn’t realize it might be related to a new case that her dad is working on. Lindsey dad is a well-known prosecutor. Lindsey doesn't want to worry or upset her dad because he would tighten the security around her. So she doesn't tell her dad anything until…. You are going to have to get the book to find out what or how it all plays out!

I like the way that Kimberly Kolb, lets you get to know the characters, where you get to see the relationship built between Lindsey and Chris. This is a book that I would highly recommend that you need to add it to a must read list. It is a book that I can’t put book down until the very last page.

I received a free copy from this author in exchange for an honest review. I would like to thank the author to give me chance to read and review this book. I liked this book. I liked the characters. It was a really good mystery and romance novel. Chris and Lindsey were adorable together. I really liked the twist of mystery in it. In the starting it was all about how Lindsey was stuck between two guys who wanted her and then the mystery begins as she starts receiving threats. I enjoyed this book and recommend this book to people who love a good mystery as well as romance.

Couldn't put it down! Kimberly Kolb's first novel immediately brought me back to high school (Carnation Day - ugh). I love the unsure girl growing up and doing it with grace. The suspense builds as you read on which keeps me wanting to read the next chapter instead of what I "should" be doing. I'm in my 50s & thoroughly enjoyed this fast page-turning book. I wanted to check it out before passing it along to my daughter. I'm sure she'll love it as well.

Great YA with inspirational message and no vampires or werewolves, etc. Very suspenseful and both adult and teens in my house liked this book.

I read this book feeling understanding and empathy with Lindsey although she did make me feel frustrated at times with her inability to allow herself to believe in herself and realise her own worth. She was a strange mixture with her complete dedication and competence in her schoolwork and gymnastics and her uncertainty in her social life.

She obviously loved her parents but felt she couldn’t confide in them when she started to get the strange texts. I would have liked to know a bit more about her father’s case and why she was been targeted

I liked the thrill and tension of the chase through the woods but can only assume this book is Part 1 of a story as the story ended quite abruptly and inconclusively.

All in all I enjoyed this book and would have liked to give it 3.5 if given that option.

I really liked the character development with the people in this story. However, I also found that the dialogue was so wordy. It seemed like more was being said than necessary.

I found Lindsey's character to be hot and cold. On the one hand she had her priorities in order, in terms of her gymnast career and life as a high school student. On the other end of the spectrum, she seemed extra hungry for male attention! Her crush Chris, her admirer Jon, and many of her other high school acquaintances. Her unnecessary jealousy towards Elizabeth was annoying beyond belief!

I don't want to knock this book, so I'll just say that I liked that this book was neither too simple or too complicated. It was just right in terms of plot and had enough characters to make the book interesting enough to like some characters and be annoyed by others.
