Actually, I read the 2001 edn. of this book. It's an anthology of classical literature and texts from India and China, with a good selection from Japan, and a few pieces from Korea and Vietnam. The earliest works are the AAryan Vedic hymns dating from around 2000 B.C.E. The most recent is 1981 writing on modern Indian.
