As one of the 20th century's venerable elders of psychology and spirituality, Robert A. Johnson has over two million copies of his classics in print. A world-renowned analyst and storyteller who has brought fresh and powerful insights to three generations, Johnson stands with Carl Jung, Marion Woodman, and Joseph Campbell as one of the treasured cartographers of the human psyche. With his newly recorded audio, The Golden World, listeners have an unprecedented opportunity to experience the presence of this living legend as he unfolds essential lessons from his life's work--from the first mystical vision that shaped his personal journey to the most important tools and teachings for bringing meaning, beauty, and vividness to our own lives.
Robert A. Johnson is a noted lecturer and Jungian analyst in private practice in San Diego, California. He has studied at the Jung Institute in Switzerland and at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in India.
There's a strong feeling of longing and nostalgia in my heart when I listen to topics like consciousness, dreams, typology. I love listening to the humility, and zeal in the thoughts and opinions of the world's sages. Sometimes I wish they were my best friends. I have a for a couple years wanted to study Carl Jung and have been scared of being bored, but listening to this book has made me more interested in Jung's school of thought.
this book is made up of multiple tracks with the GOAT robert johnson narrating:
- Dreams correct your attitude - Gold is of the highest value in alchemy & Christianity - Everyone carries nostalgia for the golden world, and the child lives in the golden world - the golden world is probably the truest reality we know - sunrise is the golden world everyday of existence but it takes special circumstances to have the power to be aware of it - golden world is the preview of heaven
It’s certainly not a book as it’s only available in audio formats, but I will be returning to this ~book~ for nourishment often.
So many gems that only seem to reveal themselves the more you sit with them. I’ve never read(listened) to something that aligned so holistically with my own philosophy center. Going to be flying through this man’s discography.
If I can find this in print form I might try it again. Certainly in audio format the narator makes it quite intolerable. I gave up after an hour of listening to an American drawl which even with the player set to the maximum double speed didn't start to approach a normal speaking pace.
I didn’t realize when I bought this on Audible that it was a recorded interview rather than a book. That always feels kind of disappointing to me. But it ended up being fantastic! I just REALLY like the way Robert Johnson thinks.
