"Without Lachelle to stop me and with the promise of $350,000 and an end to my troubles, I make a simple choice. It’s a choice women have been making for centuries without anyone fussing too much as long as they achieved what we’ve been told is the single most important achievement in a woman’s life. I do. I marry a complete stranger and all I know about him is his name. Augustine Lockwood."
Trinity, Lachelle's (from "Julius: Cancer King) best friend, signs up to be a mail order bride. What she doesn't expect is to end up in Alaska married to a 6'8" sexy giant with a much older man's name.
Augustine retreated to the woods of Alaska to escape a tragedy. Driven by loneliness and fueled by alcohol, he allows his friend to convince him to sign up for a mail order bride.
Augustine and Trinity both get far more than either of them bargained for with this marriage. I did quite a bit of cackling throughout the book. Augustine and Trinity definitely are on track to be my favorite Zodiac couple.
Jamila knows how to weave a good story that keeps you engaged and captivated. This book did not disappoint.
Setting: Current day in the woody foothills somewhere in Alaska.
Trope: Mail order bride. Forced proximity.
Main characters: 1. Trinity, heroine, dark skinned plus sized woman using the mail order bride program to pay off her college student loan. 2. Augustine Lockwood, hero, 40+-year old 6 foot 9 inch physically fit handsome retired multi billionaire businessman and widower.
This story is more rom com with emphasis on comedic. Augustine and Trinity constantly squabble, spare, contradict and challenge each other. It's winter in Alaska when Trinity arrives and upon her arrival, the wind dislodges her wig and Augustine's two huskies, Furry and Creed, rip the wig apart...hilarious. In this story like others in the series, the women like to be man handled and like what appears to be dubious consent. I enjoyed their banter.
I enjoyed this short story. Both Trinity and Augustine are two crazy peas in a pod. The story had it's relatable funny moments, like trying to be cute in front of a good looking guy only to embarrass yourself. My only complaint would be some small story mistakes. All in all I liked it.
Omg this book was the one and I enjoyed all of it. They way two people come together but they give you something to laugh about gives you everything. Two people one with wanting a second chance and one looking for love but to get her student loans paid in order to find a husband. Go out and get it because it is great.
I really enjoyed this story, and the characters were very entertaining and believable. The chemistry between Augustine and Trinity was smoking hot 🔥. Trinity and Augustine were a perfect pair, and their adventure was funny and worth reading about, I could not put it down. I highly recommend this book you will truly enjoy it.
I rate my books on how fast I read them. If I read fast, it's a book giant put down. If I can't put them down they get the 5 star rating. I the thought of black woman and white man offend you then don't read this type of book. If not read all you want. A good book .
I like the chemistry she created between the two main characters. There were both funny at the same time pretty deep in their feelings about how they felt about their own personal worth and how they might see their future with somebody else if just given a second chance.
This was so good! It's worth the wait! I can't wait for the next book in this series! Each book in this series is so awesome with a story of its own. They are standout stories and quick reads. Awesome job, Ms. Jasper!
This was another great book. Augustine and Trinity may have gotten together in a weird way, but they make a great couple. It was also nice to see Julius and Lachelle. I love the Zodiac series.
What a fun cute little read! Augustine was definitely rough around the edges and I was concerned for the fmc that she was going to have to deal with a drunk for the rest of her life. Happy everything worked out.
Augustine and Trinity story was unorthodox. It had all the things I love in a book. It had humor which had me laughing so hard. The tragedy and hot sexy love made up to be a great book. Looking forward to the next book.
Just wish it was longer and thicker, but it still delivered. Wink wink. The best way to enjoy this one is with the audible narrator. One of my favorites even though I'M a Capricorn. A Virgo wasted 8 years of my life 🙃 if only my Virgo was AUGUSTINE🫦
Pretty quick read. A short funny story about loneliness, hope and arranged marriages. Add an old nosey neighbor and a few wigs and you have a hilarious story.
I just love the realness of this story line and the blending of 2 cultures. Reminding us we really are one race. Called the HUMAN RACE where there is no creed or co!or
Augustine yes sir … he knew he wanted her regardless of what he said . He needed the love and company of someone who would love and be there for him . He got all that plus a sassy mouth queen to go along with. Cute story
Jamila’s books are always entertaining! This novella was sexy per usual for the author but also had some comedic moments. I laughed out loud at Trinity’s experience of leaving NY and moving to AK.
