Filipa Ribeiro da Silva (1974) é Professora Assistente de História na Universidade de Macau (China). É também membro do Global Collaboratory on the History of Labour Relations no International Institute of Social History da Real Academia de Artes e Ciências da Holanda e Honorary Fellow do Wilberforce Institute for the study of Slavery and Emancipation da Universidade de Hull (Reino Unido). Filipa obteve o seu Doutoramento na Universidade de Leiden em 2009, após lecionar História da Expansão Portuguesa na Universidade Nova de Lisboa, onde fez a Licenciatura e o Mestrado, em 1996 e 2002. O seu último livro intitula-se Dutch and Portuguese in Western Africa: Empires, Merchants and the Atlantic System, 1580-1674. No âmbito do projecto Counting Colonial Populations estuda a demografia de Moçambique (1834-1875).
