2017 to me was the year I was going to go through and try and clear some of my Ebooks that I have had on the Kindle for quite a while. This particular one is Book #1.5 in a series I started back in 2013; it is also part of the 12 NA's of Christmas which was another series of novellas I got in 2013. For those who remember the series, Emma was in an accident and woke up with amnesia. The only person she remembers is her PT Mason who has helped her after the accident. Emma and Mason have started a relationship and Mason this Christmas is hoping to propose. However, will Emma accept Mason's proposal especially since she still doesn't have all her memories back? In Wide Spaces, we read as we discover how Mason got into working as a PT as his mother also due to a car accident has a sort of amnesia that fades in and out. Will Mason be able to save Emma one more time as he discovers he has a stalker and she wants Emma dead once and for all so that she can have Mason to herself? Find out in Book #1.5, a Christmas Romantic Suspense with Amnesiac themes - Wide Spaces by Shelly Crane.

Okay guys...this is Mason and Emma we are talking about here. Of course I am going to read it and of course I am going to love it. And love it I did. So very much! Crane once again shows us that she is a queen at writing romance. She charms us right into a pile of mush with her writing and swoon worthy characters.

Mason is more sexier in WIDE SPACES, if that is even possible. He is absolutely one of the most romantic guys I have ever read about. He knows what to say to make us ladies weak in the knees while simultaneously sticking his foot in the mouth. Poor guy. And thanks to said foot in the mouth he about loses Emma once and for all.

***
With all the things that have happened, all the firsts that Emma lost with her memory, I wanted this first to be so memorable she’d never be able to forget. I wanted that night so ingrained in her that it could never be removed.
***

Emma is the same girl we all knew and loved in WIDE AWAKE and I think I loved her a bit more in this one. Even in the short time since we last saw her, she seems more mature. And rightfully so. The girl is about to marry Mason and live happily ever after. Or will they? Finding out that your soon to be husband feels guilty for loving you? Yeah that kind of puts a damper on the whole love thing.

***
Her dad glanced over at me and back to her, knowing there was something epic going on, but as much as I liked her dad, he’d never understand. Emma and I had saved each other in more ways than one. The way I loved this girl was epic and it changed the air around us with its sparks. Shakespeare could write a sonnet just for her and it still wouldn’t capture all the things I wanted to say.
***

So thankful to once again be able to read and review another book by Crane. Absolutely worth the read. Got a bit a time? It is a quickie that will have you laughing with its funny chapter starters and some scenes will leave you downright heartbroken. Incredible job on this one Crane. I loved it so.

I received a PDF copy of Wide Space to do a review for my blog to share with everyone. Just like with Wide Awake I needed another box of Kleenex to make it through the novella.

Mason and Emma are at her father’s retirement party and this is when he has decides it is time to finally ask Rhett for his blessing to marry his daughter Emma. He wasn’t sure how the talk would go but he want to do this the right way. As Mason walked up to Rhett he could see that it was going to be a serious; their eyes met and they went to his office to talk. Mason wasn’t sure if he would say yes at because after look at the right while talking for a while he finally said yes. They set the date for the wedding for New Years. They had a fair amount of snow in Colorado that had started around Halloween which was different with them not bringing up in the mountains. Mason had gotten rid of his old car and got a new truck because he didn’t want to be stuck broken down someplace. His tattoo business was doing good he was able to open a different location and with them being in the middle of the college are business was good. He hired on someone to help at the shop and the guy paid rent for his space.

One night Emma had stayed at Mason’s house; he had woke up and was doing his normal physical therapy with his mamma when Emma came in can she called her “Mariah” again like always because mamma was coherent she was about to tell them who she was. Mariah was a college friend and she had the same color hair as Emma. They were able to have some really great time with mamma and Emma got her some hot tea as always. While they were sitting mamma looked at Mason and asked about the accident. He took a deep breath and told her everything about the accident then his mamma told him that she had got into the car to pick him up because she knew he would be out with his friend doing stuff and she didn’t want her son walking home. She didn’t want him to hold the blame for this accident. Some other stuff was said that caught Emma off guard and she got up when to the kitchen.

Emma decided that she would head to her house and pack up some of her stuff that she was going over. She told Mason to just stay with him mamma and she would be OK. She left the house and was driving home and seen a car sitting in the driveway but did think anything of it. Her phone rang with a call from Mrs. Betty and she was calling to tell her that her therapist Adeline was fired and something was really off about the reason for the firing. She had pictures her and Mason and pictures of Mason and Emma. Not sure what to think of this she told Mrs. Betty thank you for the call and was wondering to herself if Adeline was going to be trouble for them because she was jealous of Emma being with Mason. Emma’s phone buzzed with a calendar remainder and she had to leave for a little while. So she text Mason and told him to meet her at the house in two hours and they could talk.

This is where I am ending my review so much excitement happens that I don’t want to give anything away.

Okay... if you love Mason & Emma, you MUST read this one. It's such a fabulous novella. I didn't realize how much I missed Mason & Emma's life together. They're absolutely adorable and I can't wait for more.

This novella had everything in it that you'd expect in a full-length novel - excitement, high-emotions, scary life-threatening events(gasp!), and plenty of the sweet Mason & Emma moments we've come to love!

Although this features the "after I-do" moment, it's clean. We're left to imagine things, cough cough, all on our own. It's so sweet and made me smile because even though you don't get to read scene by scene, you feel their love for one another from page to page. You obviously know they had a great time Ha. ;)

Overall, GREAT novella continuing the story of one of my all-time favorite couples. Definitely a must-read if you enjoyed Mason & Emma's story.

Great prep for the next in the series - Milo's story! I can't wait to learn more about him and what he's been going through!

ANNNNDDDDDD in case you didn't realize it yet... the Significance #4 preview is at the back of Wide Spaces!!! Holy! I can't freaking wait! Accckkk Can we fast-forward time a bit?!? Just up to the release date - Please! <3

So many feelssss. Gahhh. This book left me as a pile of goo. I love, love, love Mason. And Emma. They're one of my fave book couples. They are too adorable. I read this whole book with a smile on my face. Giggles erupted every few minutes. And dreamy sighs occurred even more often than the giggles. Mason is just too much. He's amazing. Everything he says makes me swoon. The way he loves Emma and shows him he loves her make me wanna die. I want one of him. In real life. I'm so happy with how far Emma has come and I think she's so cute. I was nervous to read this because I knew bad things had to happen to them but oh god it was so intense and perfect. And WE GET TO SEE THEIR WEDDING. How amazeballs is that? I love pretty much everything Shelly writes and this was no exception. I literally didn't know what to do with myself when I was finished. I was useless. It was another beautiful story. I can't wait for Milo's book. Oh and THE NEXT SIGNIFICANCE BOOK. I knew what was going to happen when I was reading that preview for it! I can't wait!

Wide Spaces by Shelly Crane is a novella that takes place after Wide Awake. I mention in my past reviews that I love Shelly Crane's books and this one is no exception.

This novella Is narrated by both Emma and Mason's POV. Mason's POV is awesome. There's is also some really sweet Mason and Emma moments that made me love them more then I originally did. Mason still blames himself for what happened to his mother, and he is able to move on when she tells him that she trusted him and that it wasn't his fault.

Emma gets stranded in a blizzard, and Mason, being the awesome man he is, saves her just in nick of time. And it ended with Emma's and Mason's wedding and honeymoon.

And the part that really made me happy was that Mason's brother Milo came to their wedding! For some reason it made very happy. In Wide Awake we didn't know a lot about Milo except that he hates Mason and blames him for what happened to their mom, so to see him at the wedding kind of showed that he still loved his brother.

All in all, this novella was awesome, but let's be real, anything Shelly Crane writes is awesome.

This is a very sweet follow up to Wide Awake. I love Mason and Emma together so it was delicious reading more of them. The story is very lovey-dovey. These two are so into each other and they say the sweetest things. I kept thinking I was reading the last chapter, but then would come another few pages of goodness. There is a little excitement in the middle, which I think the story really needed. Without that, I would have found the romantic scenes all too much. If you like Wide Awake, you'll really enjoy Wide Spaces.

This novella was breathtaking. Shelly Crane does it again! I completely adore her books, and this wasn't an exception. I recommend this series with a huge smile on my face.

At first I was worried this was going to be a little too Christmas-y for me so I debated waiting to read until closer to the holiday. However the temptation to know more of Mason & Emma's story won out and I'm glad it did. Shelly Crane is an amazing author who delivers yet another beautiful story with hope, understanding and the ability to see true love in one another.

Book Order:

1.Wide Awake
2.Wide Spaces novella
3.Wide Open (Milo’s story)

Mason says, “For the first time, I felt like my life wasn't a testament to my guilt and It was a testament to how love finds you in the strangest places, and hope clings to us in the nooks and crannies we never think to look. The gap between the man I used to be and the man I was now was a wide space that was filled with all the ways Emma had saved and changed me. ~Shelly Crane, Wide Spaces

Wide Spaces is a part of the 12 Novella’s of Christmas. Wide Spaces is a novella that follows up with Emma and Mason from the book Wide Awake. I suggest reading Wide Awake(the first book in the series) before reading Wide Spaces. I am glad that I saw this Christmas novella because I wanted to read Wide Awake and this gave me the push to finally read it.

The novella takes place about a year after Wide Awake and it is Emma and Mason’s first Christmas together. Mason is working at the tattoo shop fulltime and the business is doing well. At the beginning of the story, Emma’s father Rhett is having a retirement party and Mason plans to ask him for his daughters hand in marriage. Mason gets nervous because Emma’s parents have not been to keen on their relationship. They loved Mason when he was Emma’s physical therapist but when Mason started dating Emma, they were no longer singing his praises. I am glad that this book provided some insight into where Emma’s parents were coming from and why they were not happy with Emma and Mason’s relationship. When I read Wide Awake, I was not happy with the way Emma’s mother started treating him when they became a couple.

Rhett to Mason, “Emma is a big girl and I trust her judgment on things. It's just… she wakes up, she doesn't remember us at all or want a whole lot to do with us, and then she takes one look at you and for whatever reason, she is completely latched onto you. We just wanted her back and then she… just wanted you."

He stood, sighing. "I know. Mason, we know you. It just took us off guard is all. You helped us when we were so lost for what to do after Emma's accident. You stayed with us for months and helped us and Emma. You could have passed us off or just not cared because no one thought she was going to make it. But you always believed." He held out his hand. "You're already a son to us, Mason. Now it's official." ~ Shelly Crane, Wide Spaces

I am happy that Rhett and Mason were able to clear the air and get back to the way things were before he and Emma got together. It was nice that they reconciled.

Of course Emma says, Yes. They plan to have a New Years wedding. Mason gets a little Christmas miracle when his mother because coherent for a little while. It only lasts for a short time. Mason’s talk with his mother gives him closure. Finally he gets the absolution that he so desperately needs. I wish that Mason’s mother could have got her memory back for good. Sadly, Mason’s younger brother Milo is still on a destructive path in this book. There is hope and Mason never stops hoping that they can reconcile.

It is not completely smooth sailing for Emma and Mason. There are a few times when Mason speaks before he thinks and Emma worries that Mason feels guilty for loving her. There are a couple misunderstandings between them in the story. Plus, they have to deal with a dangerous snow storm.

It was really nice to get to see more of Mason and Emma in this novella. It was a long novella so it was almost like a full length novel. I loved the incorporation of the useless facts in this book. It was a nice nod to Wide Awake where Mason bought Emma the Useless Facts books. Mason shows even more what a wonderful guy he is and what a great husband he will be to Emma. Emma adjusts really well to her new life and I really like the new Emma. In some ways it turns out to be a blessing that Emma never recovered her memories. I liked that they took things slow with their relationship. The epilogue was satisfying. It ends with Emma and Mason in a happy place.

Emma says of her new life, “This wasn't the life the old me would have picked or even wanted. But I wanted it. I chose it. It chose me. I would forever be grateful for the way life doesn't turn out like we planned.” ~ Shelly Crane, Wide Spaces

I was hoping that Milo would get a story and he does. The third and final book in the series is Milo’s story Wide Open.

4-1/2 Stars

Wide Spaces is the continuation of Mason and Emma's relationship after Wide Awake. Is it weird that I liked this novella even more than the first book? This time around I instantly felt Mason and Emma's connection and loved getting reacquainted with their story. Yes, they are a little gushy, lovey-dovey at times. But if you are familiar with Shelly Crane's writing, you expect this. It was sweet to see their interactions not just with each other, but with other family members, and I think that made the story even more special. Along with the sweetness and tenderness, there is also a bit of suspense and drama thrown in. I actually appreciated the drama and that it made things more real, more intense, and made the characters even more honest and open with each other. Then we get the sweetness at the end of this novella - and I really liked how Crane handled this. It was beautiful, tender, genuine, and I loved it!

Altogether, this is a special treat and a great read for Wide Awake and Shelly Crane fans. I suggest reading these books in order as Wide Spaces would be very spoilery if you haven't read Wide Awake yet. There is also a guest appearance which makes me very excited about Wide Open.

Bonus! At the end we get a special sneak peek at the next Significance book. If you are a fan of that series, you will be thrilled with these preview chapters. So excited!

I did not read Wide Awake before reading this novella and I think I probably should have to fully appreciate it and it may have affected my rating.

Although the story takes place over Christmas this book did not give me the warm cozies as much as I would have liked. It was a fairly cute story but I found there was a lot of talking and not a lot of doing. The love and devotion between Emma and Mason was oozing off the pages but I found it didn't reach me as much as it should have. Again, this is most likely due to the fact that I didn't read the first book. I will be making sure that I read it as it sounds like a great read and it may change my opinion of this novella.

I think my main issue with this story was the maturity. The characters come across as a lot younger and it was hard to visualise them as old enough for marriage. Mason saying "gah" on a few occassions would be the perfect example of that. It just isn't something that an adult male would say in my opinion.

I liked it but I didn't love it. I'm hopeful that I will eat my words after reading Wide Awake!.

After reading wide awake I had absolutely the obligation to read wide spaces.
To know what happen to Emma and Mason, a lot of emotions in this book, a lot of romance, love, guilt. The way Mason had felt about his mother and we discover a lot about him actually in this book, what he was going through in his life and what he expected.
About his relationship with his brother Milo that we also will see from Milo eyes in the third book that I m waiting to read impatiently, about the guilt that he felt for Emma but its actually turns out deep love.
I have to say that I was very afraid when Emma had her second accident that she will wake up and not know Mason and be the old Emma but eventually all went well and that’s good.
To see also that her family had accepted her choices and respect her wishes is also away to say that everyone can choose who they wanna be and what they will choose for their own lives without interference.
In the end I will repeat myself by saying that Shelly Crane had surpassed herself by delivering an art piece of wide spaces.

(Warning: Spoilers!)

I absolutely loved seeing Emma and Mason again!
Mason is still a gentleman, a romantic, a knight in shining armor, and so much more. He asks Rhett for Emma's hand in marriage even though their relationship isn't great. He proposes to Emma with the most touching words possible. He goes out in a freaking snow storm to look for Emma even after an argument that they had. He drives all around to look for her and when he finally finds her he takes her to the hospital thereby saving her. Mason even blames himself for his accident and stays by Emma's side even though he isn't sure how she feels after their argument and newfound information.
Emma has always impressed me. She doesn't look at things from one perspective and does not let anything bring her down. She doesn't hold grudges and sees her love for Mason as her greatest strength. She doesn't let the past overcome the love that she has for Mason.

I have loved Mason and Emma from the beginning and this book was just the icing on the cake! A must read!

I don't think there has ever been a love like the love between Emma and Mason. I was excited when I got my hands on this book I am a Wide Awake fan indeed.

After everything that Emma and Mason have been through life is still not done throwing curves!
I love the way they are with each other. Shelly Crane paints a picture of unconditional love at it's very best. Pulls you in and brings you happily along in every moment. I was enamored and read this book in one sitting. I started in on Wide Open immediately after because I could read Shelly Crane's novels all day every day and be completely happy.

I was so happy and got so sad and scared reading this book. I loved the story and loved the outcome. I think this book may be a new holiday tradition for me to read.

I can't give it ten stars so it gets five instead! I just love Emma and Mason and I love that Shelly Crane paints such an honest and raw picture of love that will stand the test of time.

First of all let me just say that I love Shelly Crane's writing so very much and that is why she is one of my favorite authors! She is able to develop this love connection with her main characters that just make you automatically feel like you know them and cheer for them as a couple. I am so happy that Shelly gave her fans one more full book of Emma and Mason's life since the last book left you wanting so much more information on this happy couple and their future. There is a little bit of drama that happens between these two in this book but in the end they get their perfect happily ever after! Also, please read Wide Awake before this book or you will miss out on a lot of things and probably be completely lost. This is a must read book for anyone who loved Wide Awake and if you are just a fan of Shelly Crane's writing!

A-MA-ZING!!! Didn't want it to end!!! Loved to have more on Mason and Emma. What a beautiful addition to this great series. Mason is the amazing and it makes me so happy to see that Emma still continues to see his amazingness...hahahaha...is that a word?? If not...it should be. Emma is still the beautiful girl we all came to love in Wide Awake, even though she is tested again...thank goodness they stick together and even when the "worst" happens....it is beautiful!!! The moments with his mother are priceless!!

I look forward to Milo's book. We got to see a short glimpse of him in this book too and it gave me hope for the future. And of course I can't wait to see more Mason and Emma....I want to see those beautiful babies!!

Thank you Ms. Crane for a beautiful book!! ;)

I totally understand that these characters' story was not finished. If there was something that really made this book more of a 3/5 book more than anything else, it would be that the writing itself had more of a less mature feeling to it. Not that it was immature, but the tone as well as the word choice led me to believe that it would suit teens from 13-16 easily, while the content might not be on that same level.

It didn't really grab me from the beginning and force me to hold on until the end.

Granted, the first book in the series really was awesome, and if I had gone form reading the first one to this one I probably would have been more attached to it.

Overall, it is a continuation of the last novel, so the characters are the same.

Can i just say that i loved this?Well, after all this was about Emma and Mason, which by the way i love, and their story is beautiful.Between what happened to Emma and Mason thinking he was responsible for a lot of things,it seems that only one thing mattered:the fact that they loved each other.
Ha!The wedding?Simple and lovely-something i liked.

I almost had an heart attack when Emma's accident happened.Heck,i thought that maybe something horrible will happen again-but luckily Mason saved the day and everything was fine.

When it comes to real love nothing else matters. The love between Emma and Mason was stronger than a snow storm.

This novella picks up where Wide Awake left off. Mason and Emma are planning a New Year's wedding. Mason is as sweet as ever. A revelation during one of his mother's lucid moments gave him some closure about the accident and allowed him to let go of some of his guilt. But accidents just won't stop affecting this couple.
In the previous book I was wondering why Adeline's storyline didn't take off and my questions about that were answered in Wide Spaces.
The couples "I Wills" they spoke during their honeymoon were sweet. It was just an all around sweet book. I'm looking forward to Milo's book though, I'm sure it will be full of angst.
