“My name is Rylee, and I am a Tracker.”

When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I’m the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot.

Underestimating demons is a bad idea, and it’s a mistake that may cost me not only my own life, but the life of a missing child.

If I can swallow my pride, and allow Agent O’Shea to help me find a way to deal with the demon, we might be able to save the child.

With this salvage, it’s a race against time, a test of trust, and a temptation that I'm doing my damnedest to ignore.

If only swallowing my pride was that easy.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I was born into a family of Star Wars nuts. I have a lot of siblings (somewhere I lost count but I think there was more than could be numbered on one hand) and being one of the young padawans I was subjected to Star Wars marathons, on a regular basis. If you've read any of my books you'll see there is often a reference to said movies as a small homage to my upbringing. May the force be with you and all that jazz.

I started writing when I realized I didn't want to grow up not believing in magic, or not believing in creatures everyone else said didn't exist. That being said, I have never seen a fairy, unicorn or dragon. I had a neighbour who swore they fed the leprechauns in their garden, but I never caught the little buggers no matter how long I lay in wait. (And consequently had to help the neighbours plant new flowers to replace those I killed waiting for the leprechauns to show their faces.)

Along the way, I found my husband who is the rock that keeps me from floating away into my dreams, and we have a little boy who is the centre of our world. Living on a farm keeps us busy (as if the writing wasn't enough) and I have more than my share of stories about wrestling with cows, helping birth calves and ending up in the creek during the process, falling in the mud (we'll call it mud but we all know that on a farm, mud is rarely mud) and chasing escaped livestock in the hopes the four legged convicts don't make it to the highway.

I've taken up archery, and the goal is to move into horseback archery in time (you know, when I can hit the target on a consistent basis) and when no one is looking, I love to bake (this doesn't happen often as it's hard to keep the sweet treats in stock with two boys in the house.)

As to what's coming next for me? More stories (since those never stop inside my head, I might as well share them with all of you!) and more adventures. Pretty much, when the fancy strikes, I'll jump on it. Leap before you look I'm sure that motto was created for me.

Or was that . . . think big and dream bigger, ready, set, pull the trigger . . . yeah. That one is a good one too. But only if you have a gun. And are hunting elephants. Which is not cool because of so many reasons. Let's stick with the first one with an addendum.

Leap before you look and let your dreams carry you on their wings. And that, my friends, is me in a nutshell.

AMAZING!!!!

I am gripped, addicted and hooked to these books, I am now a massive fan of Shannon Meyer's writing. I love her 40 Proof series and it did inspire me to start this series, a long standing series on my tbr pile! I'm so pleased I did!

The world, the characters and the storyline are so captivating, I even think of the books when I'm busy in my real life!!!

I can't wait to pick up book 3!

IMMUNE was, well, a bit of a mess. After a respectable series debut, Shannon Mayer trades in her Urban Fantasy hat for a Paranormal Romance one which resulted in a pretty drastic u-turn that I didn’t particularly care for. Rylee/O’Shea’s relationship skipped every step in-between “hi, how are ya” and “I love you”, and you don’t get much more instant than that. But, then Liam isn’t in book 3 AT ALL if the blurb is to be believed, not to mention that the author is also going in questionable directions with a few of her characters. I just don’t know.

Adamson’s snarky tough girl attitude has started to surface which was exactly what I was hoping for. It’s too bad that it didn’t carry over to her dialogue with O’Shea; whether I continue this series or not will most likely come down to if Mayer decides to focus primarily on Rylee’s angsty romance with the FBI Agent, or on her cutthroat Tracker side. I’m all for option 2 in case I haven’t made that clear yet. Adamson was also very reckless in this novel which put my ‘established heroine’ remark from my PRICELESS review into doubt.

I hate Milly, I really do. Every protagonist needs a BFF / sidekick / ally, so I don’t get why the author destroyed their friendship in the first installment, and then continued to kick it while it was down in this one. It’s going to take A LOT for me to care about the witch. Why make that much work for yourself? Unless she’s disposable… I wasn’t ecstatic about what happened to O’Shea towards the end of this story either. It was yet another extreme approach to something that should have developed over multiple books, or not at all for that matter.

The best parts of this novel were the interactions between O’Shea & Alex; they are fighting for dominance within Rylee’s ‘pack’—one is human, and doesn’t have two clues about the on-going power struggle, and the other is a submissive werewolf who doesn’t have an Alpha bone in his body. It made for some entertaining mix-ups! The Kindle edition came with a cool character reference feature that was useful in identifying who’s who, and the plot itself was ok too with its triple threat. It’s unfortunate that it was overshadowed by main couple drama, and unstable secondaries.

IMMUNE was a far cry from book 1. It all comes down to RAISING INNOCENCE. ~3.5 Stars

Awesome book. Kick ass Rylee is back and trouble follows her wherever she goes. This one wasn't as good as the first in my mind. It seemed like the entire book was written to make one thing happen.
The few OMG moments were pretty much already figured out. I still really enjoyed hanging with posse though.

I think Rylee needs to rethink some of her relationships. She is so kindhearted, once she loves you, she loves you. I think she is learning the hard way though that love is not only a strength but also a weakness. It makes us blind and vulnerable. Maybe she is the only Tracker because Trackers are suppose to be alone. I hope not. Alex is still my favorite!

Enjoyable for the most part, and chock full of action all the way. Endings that are as disturbing as this one generally are there to propel us, hooked as we are into the story, to rush out and get the next book in the series--and the publishers slyly add a preview of that sequel. Well, of course, this is a review of the book at hand, but I have to say that that little preview caused me to read the Goodreads descriptions and sample the reviews for the next three books, and I can report that by book #5 some reviewers say the series finally comes together.

Once again, the author's world-building is wildly exuberant but sketchy. I loved the cow-sized harpies, and our main character Rylee Adamson has taken in a juvenile harpy named Eve, who only weighs half a ton but she can carry Rylee on her back when she flies into the stratosphere. Yes, do leave those niggling issues of credibility aside; they don't belong here. The main thing is that Rylee has one emergency after another and her relations with others (humans or not) are unsettled and problematical enough to keep a story going full pace.

Well, in addition to Eve the harpy (who flies from North Dakota to New Mexico--what wings she must have!), Rylee's household contains Alex the submissive werewolf, permanently stuck between human and wolf forms, magnificently loyal to Rylee and it seems to be mutual no matter the cost. Alex appears to other humans as a huge dog, thanks to a spell inserted in his collar; those spells come from Rylee's once-upon-a-time best friend Milly the witch (see "problematical relations" above).

As the blurb (and the Goodreads summary) tell us, Rylee herself is a Tracker, whose psychic ability is devoted to tracking and returning missing children, and she is a Rare Immune, meaning immune to magical menaces like vampire and werewolf bites. But it turns out that besides vampires, werewolves, cow-sized flying harpies, friendly ogres, scary witches, disgusting trolls, and powerful Native American shamans, this world is beset with demons and one of them has injected venom into Rylee.

Although she's immune to the venom itself, it was a kind of ice demon that did the deed, and Rylee is now in danger of dying from hypothermia (you have abandoned all concern about credibility, haven't you?) in three days or less. The only way to extract the venom and save Rylee's life requires five shamans (who tend not to cooperate) and a trusted human companion for an extremely painful ceremony. So Rylee has to put her search for a missing teenager on hold, rush from North Dakota to New Mexico, deal with emergencies there, recover, and rush back--it's just the story of her life.

Lots of action as I said, but be warned--it gets darker and darker, and only future installments will bring back some light.

Oh yes, romance. Sigh. That trusted human companion in the painful ceremony? Agent O'Shea, perhaps one of the least believable FBI agents in urban fantasy, who prompts Rylee to think, feel, and act like a thirteen-year-old. A Romantic Misunderstanding that's better called Romantic Stupidity mars the first half of the book. Then there's fireworks and then things slowly go wrong again. We get both points of view (Rylee in first person, O'Shea in third person) but it doesn't help; let's be generous and say 2.5 stars rounded up.

I am telling you right up front, I may be a little hard on this book. Simply because the fantasy before was The Hidden Legacy Series by Ilona Andrews, which I absolutely loved ... and that kinda pointed out what was missing in this book.

First of all, a thing that is always important to me: the romance. It was absolutely off. Already in the first book I didn‘t like it at all and while I am putting aside the issues I have with Liam, I can‘t totally forget them. And I am surprised how easy it was for Rylee to blend his asshole behavior from before put. We basically go from absolute hate to falling in love so hard, she obviously doesn‘t remember who’s she is anymore. Since normally badass Rylee is a wimp when it comes to romance. And furthermore I still didn‘t really like Liam - I just can‘t grasp his character and the plot twist regarding him,was like the romance hasty and not very well done IMO.
Then Rylee is hard to like too, since she pretends to be a badass and sometimes is, but it is more fake than real. She lashes out like a teenager sometimes.

This story had really interesting ideas and aspects, but it kinda felt all over the place, a lot was pressed in a little time. It wasn‘t working well for my reading flow.

Then two things I already disliked in the first book: this child/Wolf that behaves like a toddler and supposedly is the laugh of the story? I find him pretty unentertaining and ridiculous.
The second is her „BFF“ Milly. She wasn’t painted well in the first book, without loyalty and a bit loose and this continues on in this book, but it somehow gets worse, because our ball of smartness Rylee basically sees things that aren‘t remotely making sense, Liam having an affair with Milly.

I am definitely continuing this series, it is a light and easy read, although the theme is horrible (missing or dead children are always hurtful). But the paranormal and actions parts are able to entertain me. I am curious if the character eventually will grow on me.

Let's clear this up first: Rylee Adamson is a badass. She works out like an Olympian, keeps a werewolf as a pet, and is immune to poisons and spells that would smite you, me, or any other human.

"Immune: A Sexy Urban Fantasy Mystery" is the second Rylee Adamson novel, and an excellent follow-up to the series debut, "Priceless." In "Priceless," Rylee blinded a troll in one eye--hey, it was self-defense--and was hassled by hunky FBI Agent Liam O'Shea. Oh, yes. And she ended up with a 1000 pound Harpy named Eve, who could never return to her home.

"Immune" picks up shortly after "Priceless." Rylee's had time to heal her bruises and settle a bit until her next case comes in. This time, Jewel, an exotic dancer, has lost her teen-aged son, and she hires Rylee to track down the boy and bring him home.

No problem. Rylee packs up her gear--like an entire Renaissance fair's worth of swords and blades--sends her Harpy off to New Mexico to stay with an ogre friend, Dox, and starts off to meet her client. The only problem is, it's really cold. Supernaturally cold. In the middle of a freak snowstorm, Rylee finds herself rescued by her former nemesis, Agent O'Shea. He gets Rylee to a motel, warms her up, then together, they go to meet the mother.

Rylee discovers that on her last adventure, she was stung by a demon she was killing. His venom is what makes her so cold. She can't be killed by venoms, but she can die of frostbite or hypothermia. There's only one cure: to have four shamans perform a ritual involving a sweat lodge. No problem, except that the shamans Rylee knows are all in New Mexico.

And thus, Rylee, Alex the submissive werewolf, and Agent O'Shea are off to The Land of Enchantment, New Mexico. Simple, right? Call the shamans, do the ritual, then off to find Ricky the missing teen.

Naturally, the shamans are all missing. So, Rylee has to find them, then go through the ritual, THEN get back to North Dakota, THEN fight through God knows what to save the missing boy, and finally return the boy to his mother.

Just another workweek for Rylee Adamson.

In my review for "Priceless: A Sexy Urban Fantasy Mystery," I remember remarking that the "sexy" and "urban" parts seemed to be present only in the title. In "Immune," Rylee and her crew still never visit anywhere bigger than Bismark, ND, but oh dear Lord, there's a lot more "sexy" in book two. The sexual tension between Rylee and her FBI Agent? Released.

Multiple times.

(I understand that "Urban Fantasy" is a genre, too. It just seems funny that it applies to a book set in small cities or, more often, the middle of nowhere)

In Rylee Adamson, author Shannon Mayer has created a truly strong female character. Rylee works out to build her unusual strength. She's studied to learn what she can about using her gifts, and she has learned still more from the various friends she's made during her travels. She's not a coddled priss, who just conveniently turns into a ninja when things get tough. That's one thing I love about Rylee.

The other reason I love her is that Rylee is loyal to her friends. When she took on Alex, the only partially transformed werewolf, she took him on, good traits and bad. Since she ended up with the Harpy, she looks after her protectively. Dox the ogre has troubles? Rylee's on her way.

One appealing part of this series is the pacing. At no point do the books drag or dawdle. Rylee's job demands she work fast--the longer a child is missing, the less likely Rylee will find the child alive. So when she has to spend three days in New Mexico getting herself repaired, it drives her nuts.

Also, there aren't a lot of extraneous characters dragged in for no reason. Rylee works alone, and only consults with friends when she needs to. She's not going to cocktail parties full of unnecessary characters, which keeps the prose streamlined.

There isn't a lot of scenery in a Rylee Adamson story. She's a woman out to do a job, not to gaze at panoramas or watch sunsets. She's focused. Like her heroine, Shannon Mayer keeps her stories focused. That's what makes them so good.

"Immune" isn't very long--182 pages. It may not be huge, but like its heroine, it packs a hell of a punch.

OMG, the cliffhanger!

Ok, I'm starting to really really like this series, I'm surprised there aren't more people reading it. It's fun and it's such a great read! I'm beginning to really love the characters and the overall plot.
Only bad part is that I feel that it's too short, I wanted more! Although well, I loved that also, it doesn't let me get bored; I've always been a fan of fast-paced stories.
Ah, and I like that the romance part isn't the most important thing here, the author didn't focus on this but rather on the overall plot. And I like that their relationship evolves slow, normal, it's not that insta-love I got used to in pnr books.
I need the next one!

Not sure if I like this series or not. I think my favorite part of the whole story is Rylee's pet werewolf, Alex.

O'Shea comes back to Rylee, asking her to be his partner. Rylee is used to doing things her own way, though, and has her own work. But, Rylee has problems. Apparently, she has been infected with demon blood and it is making her bitter cold, so cold that it could kill her. The shamans can cure her, but there is one major flaw in the plan - all the shamans are missing. To top it off, there is a missing child that Rylee must find. Lucky for her, O'Shea is ready and willing to help.

First thing is to find the shamans. She does that and discovers that a more sinister plot is at work. The vampire, Faris, wants her and his minions are helping him along.

The more I think about it, the more silly it becomes. I started reading the third one, but I'm just not that interested, and I don't really like Rylee. I doubt I'll read more in this series.

This seems to be a generally competent urban fantasy series. There are a few tropes of which I am not a fan, but overall it's well executed if a bit... common.

This series is so freaking amazing!

Immune is the perfect follow up to Priceless. It was funny, sexy and action-packed. I actually laughed out loud so much my cat got up and left the bed.

Finally, a heroine who doesn’t annoy me. Rylee is the perfect combination of loyal, intelligent, compassionate and kick-ass. Many times, the heroines in urban fantasy novels tend to be so tough or snarky that they come off as unlikable. Rylee is a smart-ass for sure, but she isn’t insulting. Well, I guess the she gets a little sassy with the bad guys, but then it’s just hilarious. (The seven dwarves comment was the best!) The other cool thing about Rylee is she is not afraid of a little gore. Blood , guts, troll crap...nothing fazes her. Good thing too, because that girl can’t stay clean.

Priceless fans will be glad that we get a lot more of O’Shea’s character in this book. From the beginning of Priceless to the end of Immune, he goes through the most character growth and change. It makes me excited to see what Mayer has in store for him in the third book. I sort of wish his scenes would’ve been written in first person like Rylee’s. I felt a little bit distant from him even when we were in his head. It wasn’t a bad thing, just noticeable. I’m sure there is a reason for it. Readers will love the way the relationship between him and Rylee develops in throughout this book.

Alex the submissive werewolf also has an expanded role in this book. I don’t like dogs, but I want an Alex so bad!!!! He is sweet and unintentionally hilarious. I would love to know more about him. Perhaps if enough readers pressure the author, maybe she will give us a short story of Alex’s transition someday. (Hint, hint.)

As with Priceless, the only character I didn’t like was Milly. Thankfully, her role in Immune is pretty small. I have my fingers crossed that Eve, the thousand pound harpy, sits on her in book three.

Much of this review focuses on character because that is the most important thing to me in most books I read, but I wouldn’t be doing the book justice if I didn’t mention the non-stop action. I felt like I was on a roller coaster from the first chapter until the end of the book. Rylee finds herself battling vampires, demons, werewolves and trolls. To help her in her quest is her posse made up of O’Shea, Alex, and the orphaned harpy, Eve. Then there are those characters who are not totally #TeamRylee, but who aid her for their own reasons. The combination adds depth to the story.

Overall, I give Immune...

Reread January 2023
Graphic Audio was great.

Reread April 2016. My comment from the first go round still stand.

Read June 2015

I honestly don't know how I feel about this series. It held my attention, and the pacing was action-packed and fun...but, when I try to summarize the events of the book, it just seems too ridiculous. There are too many plot lines. Too many villains and supernatural beings all stuffed into one series.

I like that Rylee kicks ass. I like that she's aware of her emotions and not in denial about her feelings. I even like O'shea's steady presence and the chemistry between them.

There's just something missing that's keeping me from loving this series, and I can't put my finger on it. I'll give the next one a try.

Also of note, there are a few grammatical issues, but I'm not holding that against the book, I swear.

Not as good as the first one, but not a huge dip in quality. My main complaint was the use of tired tropes. "Big Misunderstanding" and "Huffy Not Talking". "I Don't Know What's Going On But I Won't Talk To The One Person I Know Who Knows Something About This Because Reasons" was also used. Those things make me very frustrated.

I still love the world building and I like the main character a lot. While I was reading this one I thought I'd set the series aside for a bit because it's always dangerous to read a series back-to-back. But I couldn't stop myself from moving on to number three, so here I am. I'm committed.

I still like the backdrop, the world. But there were some things in this that were disturbing. At first, they did a real stupid thing, and the consequeses of that particular event was so obvious it was really disturbing. You don't have to write a story like your readers are stupid. And there was a amount of slutshaming in it I didn't like. It's obvious the author wants us to dislike a certain character, but to do it with making the charcter doing slutty things just because she is described as moving between men earlier is just... not ok.

Not as good for me as the first book. The romance was more central in this one and was plagued by misunderstandings and miscommunication. The angst seemed almost YA-ish in this one. In addition, there was a lot going on. I think the story would have been better if it had been more focused. I haven't yet decided if I'll continue with this series.

An improvement, but I still think the main character is a bitch. I liked the twist with O'Shea, and am not sure why they're making Milly into a snarky character. I really liked the magic, but I couldn't pick on much that moved the story save for one or two scenes, and the change with O'Shea's character. Not sure what to expect from the next book.

I am totally hooked on this series. It's fun and fast paced. I love Rylee and I adore Alex. I think Liam is perfect for Rylee, I hope that all comes together. I really need to make more of an effort to read this instead of waiting for it to fall into a challenge. I hope the rest of the series is as fun as the first two books have been.

A lot of things have happened since. 2014 Was a very hard year for myself so all the reviews are showing up on the same date. I can't explain why they are, if the ratings are justice or accurate I can also not say when I truly read these. I'm just going to say 2014 on the same day added just to keep the year right if not the month...

I stayed up until almost 3 am finishing this one so to say that I was hooked is a massive understatement! While I enjoyed the first book in the series, PRICELESS, and thought that it was fantastic by the end, IMMUNE absolutely floored me! It was intense and I didn't want to stop until I'd finished! I absolutely LOVED it!!!

Missing something

I felt as if something was missing through the whole story.

We never did see "great jealousy" from Tyler yes some but nothing too crazy as you only saw Molly in the beginning and end.

Changes are coming however I hope O'Shea is still part of the story and Ryker's other half.

There is a Graphic Audio production of the whole Rylee Adamson Series, which includes 10 books of the series and five short stories. All this was included in my audible subscription. That's how I decided to listen to all the books and short stories. Otherwise it would have been pretty costly to listen to this production.

The first two short stories and book 1 and two were 3.5 and 4 stars. The rest of the series was a solid three stars rating.

At some point the story felt to drawn out but since I had passed the point of no return, where I just wanted to know who the stories ends I finished 15 Graphicaudio books. I think the story could have been shortened without loosing anything. From the beginning two things were predictable: One (and even more) person was Demon possessed and this person will die. And also there will be an Elemental involved, whom we meet again in book 9.

I liked Rylee and Mayer killed off some of the good guys. Two deaths were not really necessary and didn't feel right.

I would say this is a drawn out series, but okay, to listen for free in the graphic audio version. Stay away from the series if you tend to dnf series and hate it if the author kills beloved important side charcters.

Book 2 of the Rylee Adamson series. Rylee is an Immune -- unable to be turned into anything furry or blood sucking. Rylee is also a Tracker of children using her innate abilities.

A fast read and a great follow up to Book 1 - Priceless.

If you are looking for a paranormal fun, quick and endearing to read; then, the Rylee Adamson series just might be the one for you. Book 2, "Immune" begins immediately where the last book left off. Rylee receives a phone call from her ogre friend, Dox. He is in trouble and needs her assistance. Unfortunately, Rylee has a new salvage to attend to and although Dox is important to her; so is the life of a helpless child.

Additionally, Rylee has been a little depressed dealing with the idea that her best-friend and witch, Milly has been knockin' boots with the only man she has been interested in a long time, O'Shea. Is it true or is it all in her mind? When he comes calling trying to get her to commit to the FBI Arcane team, he ends up receiving the cold shoulder big time. To make matters worse, Milly has demanded that Rylee get rid of her best friend and werewolf, Alex as well as her new charge, the harpy, Eve. She knows what it is like to be a loner and she is loyal if nothing else. So, she takes them on the road with her while Milly stays home and takes care of the mentally fragile, Giselle.

While Rylee takes off leaving O'Shea standing in the dust, he is meets the clarvoyant, Giselle who informs him that he is closely linked to Rylee and in order for them to survive he must watch over her. He tracks her down and is bound and determined not to leave her side. Just before Rylee meets with her new client, she is attacked by a demon who does the impossible and penetrates her immunity with a cold venom that incapacitates her if not removed. O'Shea is not about to let that happen.

This was another action packed, edge of your seat, fun filled ride. I just love the diversity and crazy mix of characters. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites. For Christmas, I am asking for my very own, faithful, werewolf companion. What a hoot!

You go Rylee!!!!

I can't really like Rylee's supposedly best friend since from the first book to now, she is such a selfish b*tch!!!! It goes with the saying "with friends like that, who needs enemies?" Oh well.... I'm sure the author will find a way to turn this around... or not...

Again, I loved Rylee Adamson! It's full on action from start to finish... with a little element of surprise... hot romance.... humour.... and suspense.... and with just the right amount of angst. With heroine that is bad ass... smart... witty.... and full of heart... Then there's Liam or Agent O'Shea, couldn't ask for a better alpha male for Rylee. And I love Alex, he is kinda the light of the story or series.

The story? Rylee takes on another abducted child case or Rylee does what she does best, fight bad guys! There is also this powerful vampire (we've met from the first book) who seem obsessed in getting Rylee to work for him. A hint of upernatural politics that kinda remains a mystery still... And more drama on the side.... Awesome! I love more intrigue, more complications!

But, I just gotta say .... I really enjoyed all the actions and suspense and mystery and romance.... but I need a little more umph... I want it to be a little more explosive.... Same goes with Rylee and O'Shea's chemistry... and I'm not saying they aren't. ;)

Easy to get into.... quite enjoying read... held me captivated from start to finish! Can't wait to read what's next!!!!

I really enjoyed this second book in this series. Rylee Adamson is an Immune: someone who is immune to all types of magic. However she is not immune to regular, mundane human diseases like hyperthermia and if she is not careful something inside of her will freeze her to death. To get rid of it, she needs help, help from the person she least expected help from, Agent Liam O'Shea. Together with her friends Alex and werewolf-human hybrid and Eve, a harpy, they race against time finding the people Rylee needs.

She also has a salvage to complete, a job in which she finds missing children as she is also a Tracker and her psychic abilities means she can locate them quite easily. Unfortunately for her, the creature with the missing child also holds a great grudge against Rylee and she soon realises that she cannot save the boy and defeat the kidnapper without first being healed.

There were lots of twists and turns in this one that I wasn't completely expecting, especially the thread with Liam. I do wonder how that storyline will pan out. I loved Rylee and her growing relationship with Liam. I just hope that something more can/will happen now.

Milly was a very unlikeable character in this book and to be honest I don't really remember much about her from the first book. Maybe that is why she's changed characters a bit - needs to be more memorable! I do wonder where their friendship will go now after the events of this story.

Rylee is back with another case - another missing child. But there are more problems for her to solve this time. First there is O'Shea who she suspects to have an affair with her friend Milly. Her feelings for him run deeper and the betrayal cuts deep. So she focuses on the missing child case at hand. But there are other problems: The fight with the demon in the past has left her with a mark and more. It was a ice demon and his poison is running in her body and tries to get her. Even if she is immune to any supernatural poison, this one is slowly getting to her. Then her friend Dox is calling with another case and soon Rylee is fighting more battles than she can handle and one of them is likely killing her..

She did it again! The first book was great and I was wondering if the second was as good as the first. I was not disappointed; it even got better. The development between Rylee and Liam was great but I fear for the future. What will happen now? So many open links.. Milly's development was not really surprising but I really wonder who her mysterious boyfriend is who caused the love bites and if it matters for the story. Alex was great again and I really love him. I wonder if Eve will show up again.

Great story and please: more Liam!!! :-) I will now download book 3..

I enjoyed this series, especially seeing how it intertwined with the Elemental Series. However, I'm not so sure my teenagers would enjoy it. There is a fair amount of language and gore that even I skipped through. In addition to that there are some sex scenes to skip over, and a few crude/lewd moments that I could have done without. I understood the language was a way of distinction with the Trackers in that world, and if it hadn't been for how well done the story was I don't think I would have finished the series.
I did appreciate the moral to the series, that love for family and friends really can help us conquer the darkness in our lives. I also liked how the chain of events that was her life was realized at the end in a way that led her to where she was, and how necessary those events were to building who Riley was and developing why she was loved so much by her"family ".
