Synopsis Nevaeh Daniels isn't like your typical twenty-four year old. She doesn't have life all figured out and frankly, she just doesn't give a damn.
She parties too hard, cusses too much and has no true direction in life.
Her parents gave up on her long before and focus solely on her identical twin sister, perfection at it's finest, Heaven Daniels. Well at least they did... until she commits suicide and puts the reputation of her family and herself at stake. Her parents refuse to go back to a life of squalor, so they devise a plan. A plan to give Nevaeh a life she never thought she'd have; fortune, fame and the love of fellow Hollywood hottie, Tate Monahugh. But he isn't the only one interested in getting inside her head and discovering her true being.
Are the lifestyles of the rich and famous all they are really cracked up to be or will Nevaeh succumb to her old life of solitude and forget-it-all attitude?
Author K. Pinson is twenty-six years old and lives in Michigan with her husband and little princess. She has addictions to makeup, dressing up her daughter, and shopping online. She has a fond appreciation for the written word, starting at a very early age and leading into adulthood. Her favorite genres include romance, psychological thrillers, and any novel that gives her all the feels. K. Pinson refuses to give the stereotypical happily ever after in her novels and hopes her readers will have a full-immersion experience into her book world.
Wow, this story was really good! It's a storyline I haven't read before which was refreshing. You have identical twins, Nevaeh and Heaven, who are opposites with their personalities. Heaven is the favorite and Nevaeh is the black sheep of the family. She makes a break from that life only to have to step up and take over Heaven's life when she commits suicide. She leaves her life behind and steps into the life of Heaven who happened to be married.
Life for Heaven wasn't what it seemed to the outside view. Nevaeh quickly determines that something isn't quite right with Tate(the husband). She also manages to run into somebody important from her past. So things are quite stressful for Nevaeh.
And this where you will need the tissues. Things happen that will leave your jaw hanging on the floor. I won't ruin it for anyone, so just trust me when I say it will get you!
This was my first book by K. Pinson but look forward to reading more!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. (Also preordered lol)
I adored this book. Took me a minute to read it as I was terrified to finish it, typical of any KP book. She is just so... frustrating with her cliff hangers and heart ache. I powered through and finished it this evening. I was distraught. I may have cried. This book is like the epitome of 'The grass isn't always greener on the other side'. You want something so long that by the time you finally get it, you realize it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. The people who actually had it didn't want it either. Perfection is overrated. No one has time for all that. We are forged by the tragedies that befall us. They make us who we are. They give us character. They make us appreciate the little things in life. KP makes you understand this. I hope she gives us a small glimpse of Nev and Jamison in the future. Just a tid bit. Amazing job. Well done. Looking forward to more from you, even if not Nev.

“Between the Raindrops” Tempting Fate is the latest book from K. Pinson. I won’t say much about the story as the synopsis does give you what you need to know about the foundation of the story. But I will say Nevaeh, Jamison, Ryker and Tate story was an attention-grabbing story, and having not read the synopsis I went in blind, and I soon discovered after reading the prologue that this was going to be an interesting and not your typical NA read.
I liked Nevaeh; I love her attitude; she came across as not giving a damn, but there is vulnerability about her. I did at first question why she would agree to her parent’s selfish plan, but as the story developed I start to understand it. I loved her relationship with Jamison, the chemistry they shared, and they had some hot sexy moments. I liked that flashbacks to the past let me see how they first met, and why their friendship/relationship was so special. I liked Jamison he was sexy, funny, and protective of Nevaeh.
I was torn with my feelings over Ryker especially as I started to learn about his and Nevaeh past history together, my heart broke for them both. And as for Tate I had a feeling about him, so I wasn’t a fan.
I liked the concept the storyline. K. Pinson's writing drew me in, as it did have all the elements that I like. It was emotional; I was frustrated and anxious at times. I loved the humor, the sexiness, suspense, and mystery aspect of it, but that being said I did have a few issues here and there, but nothing too big. I loved trying to piece the story together; I was intrigued as to where this is heading, and how it was all going to play out for Nevaeh, Jamison, Ryker and Tate. Every time I thought I knew what was happening K. Pinson would throw in a little twist.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read that flowed well. The ending left me with a big grin on my face, and with that feeling of everything happens for a reason. I loved the personal journey that Nevaeh went through, and loved the way it ended for Nevaeh. I loved that with K. Pinson you never know what you going to get, her stories like this one are not predictable, and therefore, I would recommend that you one click Between The Raindrops today.
“It's like he sees something more deep down inside of me. He makes me want to unearth it”
“I had a black eye. He had bruised balls. And we had the beginning of a love story”
“He was the fire, and I was gasoline; we ignited and destroyed everything in our wake, including ourselves, leaving nothing whole by the time our flames, burned out”
“You never fall out of love completely if it's real”
“As the cold water gathers around me, washing away the past and clearing a path for the future, I feel in love completely with a man who had always appreciated the real me.”
This book is about identical twins who are complete opposites. Heaven is the perfect daughter while Nevaeh is the rebellious one.
One day Nevaeh decides she's had enough of her parents disapproval and moves away. Building a life she's proud of until tragedy brings her back to a life she's always despised and on top of that she's expected to step into her sisters shoes who recently committed suicide.
This book took you on a rollercoaster of emotions. The ups and downs were insane. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
New author to me, and yep, I was impressed, I loved the writing, the story was intriguing and featured identical twin Nevaeh and the three men in her life. Just in case you're wondering there is no cheating, all three men play very different parts in her life. I could not have seen any of the twists and turns no matter how hard I thought about it, so unexpected. I was hooked. I was an emotional wreck at points, a lovely story full of passion and intrigue that had my emotions all over the place. I was provided with a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
***I received this book in exchange for an honest review***
I found this story to be an odd little story. When I first signed up to read this book it was labelled as a "New Adult Paranormal Romance" so naturally I was expecting it to involve ghosts or something else of the paranormal kind.
I was sadly disappointed. :(
This book has nothing to do with paranormal romance, instead it is a contemporary romance.
The storyline started off okay. The main character was at a low point in her life and she was living with a band so she wouldn't have to sleep on the streets. From this point onwards, it got weirder and weirder.
The main character, Neveah, confused me a little. And, at times it seemed like the author didn't know what she was doing with her. She was written as a strong, fend-for-yourself type character who didn't take crap from anyone. She expressed a dislike for her parents life and a dislike from her sisters life, in fact, I got the initial impression that she hated them all. But yet, when her mother calls one night telling her that she has to come home immediately to take over her sisters life, Neveah was like "sure Mum, yeah that sounds like a good idea", without any hesitation (because that's completely normal!).
And then what followed was even stranger. Neveah accepted having to live with Tate. She accepted the role of her sister. And, she accepted the part she had to play for her parents. But, the entire time she was doing this, she was complaining about having to do it...like wtf did you do it for then?!
The side characters didn't have a lot of depth. Her parents came off as quite shallow, Tate came off as quite shallow, and even Ryker (though the author did try to add a storyline between him and Neveah), was also lacking alot of depth. The author put intense emotions in some scenes, but didn't allow for the build up of the emotion in the first place. The emotion was just suddenly intense between two characters.
The storyline was also predicatable. I kind of guessed what happened and how her sister died from the moment I was fully introduced to all the characters. The book just screamed out who the culprit was who had killed her sister Heaven.
Overall, I give this book 3 out of 5 stars. I found it hard to read, and hard to finish. Alot of the book was focused on negativity and I didn't understand why the character hated her sister and her parents, yet was willing to drop everything at a drop of a hat to help them. She also, at the beginning, expressed some jealousy towards her sister, yet as soon as she had taken over her life, she didn't seem to hold any of that jealousy anymore. It was just weird. I felt as though there were plot holes and everything just seemed to easy. Too put in place. Every dot connected in a single line. The book was predicatable.
What stopped this book from getting a 1 or a 2 was the action scenes, however. The author did write some pretty good dramatic scenes I have to say! Even though they seemed to be over too quickly, those moments were worth the read.
I have mixed emotions on this book. I thought the plot was a good one, but I thought the sequence was jumbled and rushed. I would have liked more of a background in the beginning than the background being pulled out throughout the book. I don't always feel that way about a book, but I found some of the actions of our main character unbelievable...and not quite suitable for the character I thought she was. I didn't feel connected like I really wanted to be. With that being said...I did like the growth of Nevaeh the main character. Although I was not emotionally invested in the entire story, it truly was a gut wrenching tale of heartche and personal growth. Nevaeh finds herself in the pain of her life and realizes her worth without depending on the approval of others. It's a beautiful story about loss, acceptance, finding ones self, and above all of that...hope.
The story that Pinson has written is very unique one. She was able to pull you in from the very beginning and has fall in love and then rips your heart out. Nevaeh Daniels who was just trying to get by and figure out who she was and what she wanted to do in life. I learned a little lesson on not being so judgmental as well. I loved this book and highly recommend it and I can't wait to read more of Nevaeh's story.
I quite enjoyed the book. Initially I was so annoyed with the Nevaeh. I just couldn't get into her mindset. But as the story unfolded I did understand some of her motives.
I think the jumps between the flashback scenes and the present scenes could have a little more clarity. I felt that some portions of the book were so well written on the other hand some scenes felt rushed. Maybe its just me. I dunno.
I'll be honest, the story did not turn up anywhere near how I thought it would go. It was a pretty pleasant surprise.
Wow, what a ride! This book is not very long, but it's quite intense. The MC, Nevaeh Daniels, is a tough girl with a rough past. She plays the drums for a living, and that's the only sure thing of her life as she tries to keep her identity a mystery from her band mates. Nevaeh is such a broken heroine who hides behind masks because she's lost herself after a tragic event happened in her life and this explains why she decides to take on different identities. It explains why, as much as it's crazy, she accepts to pose as Heaven, her deceased twin. Nevaeh is strong yet she is still wondering what road to follow and who to trust. Her story is pretty messed up, but interesting. I could have never guessed what she would decide to do and the outcomes were always unexpected.
Nevaeh was a very interesting character. As much as I wanted to yell at her for posing at her sister and yell a big eff you in front of her uncaring parents, I understand where she came from. She thought she owed it to her sister and needed to do it for her parents as well, in the hopes they'd see her in a different light. And, among everything, she just wanted to be loved.
Right when the book starts, we see how Nevaeh came to meet Jamison, her band mate and occasional bedmate. They had just a great pull and attraction and I longed to see more of him but I knew that he would appear when the time was right. They both had feelings for each other but feared to hurt themselves, so they hid them away. But perhaps since life isn't planned out before us, their timing was right (yet). I would love to see a book about them as a couple and how things with the band would go. Please?
I also liked the other characters. Heaven, for what we heard/read about her through her diaries and Nevaeh's memories, seemed like an interesting one. Too bad fate decided such turn for her, a plot twist between the two twins would have been a great story to tell as well. But like with Nevaeh and Jamison, perhaps Heaven's life had to go like that. Ryker was an interesting guy as well. His story with Nevaeh was super melancholic and I liked that she was always set on moving on from him despite they had history. I absolutely loved how Nevaeh looked so frail but she was very resolute and knew what she wanted. For me, she was a strong heroine who never gave up and in the end, despite all the losses, she got what she never knew she would get.
I received a copy of this book to review and was a bit apprehensive to start with as it was contemporary romance and I usually like to read paranormal romance or urban fantasy so wasn't sure I'd like it. I was completely wrong though because although it wasn't paranormal or fantasy the twists and turns kept me reading. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was just the sort of ending I love in books. Nevaeh is a twin to Heaven (yeah it took me a chapter to realise the backward name!) Nevaeh is a disappointment to her parents whereas Heaven is the perfect famous actress that their parents adore as she keeps them in the limelight which helps her father's political career. Nevaeh left home as soon as she could and joined a band and has made a life for herself away from her disapproving parents. However, Nehaeh soon finds herself thrown into her sisters life after Heaven dies and her parents decide it's best if Nevaeh takes her place before anyone realises. Good job they were identical twins! So the story continues with Nevaeh trying to step into her dead sisters shoes with many twists and turns along the way as Heaven was married and had an acting career! It is a great story and although I'm not sure what genre you'd actually place it under I would definitely love to read more like it.
It was a great little book. I liked the premise, but I wish it was longer. I'd have liked to see Neveah be in more situations where she had to pretend she was her dead sister. I'd have liked there to be more scenes where Tate's true colors showed through and I really would have liked more Nev and Jameison, both at the beginning and the end of the book. All in all, it was a good read and I enjoyed it very much.
K Pinson is a sweetheart, who writes stories that are heartfelt with a side of sexy, and I adore her! Between the Raindrops is certainly no exception, and it sucked me in from page one, but be prepared, tissues are needed!
Nevaeh is a girl riddled with secrets, and a past that would haunt anyone. Her parents, needless to say, are the epitome of douche bags, and the reasoning behind her whole change of attitude and life in general. She’s not a perfect angel, not by far, but you can only take so much before it breaks you down, right?
I honestly don’t know where her strength to move on and keep fighting comes from, but she has the heart of a true survivor, something every woman would be proud of. The decisions and outcomes lie solely on her shoulders, and I was shocked and amazed that she didn’t crumble into a million pieces.
The side of sexy I was talking about…that’d be Ryker and Jamison…oh yes; there’s more than one ladies, with a twist of mentally unstable in Tate. They all play their part in Nevaeh’s story, and it wouldn’t be the same without any of them. Short read, but well worth the time, and another win for K Pinson.
I had never read anything by K. Pinson before and I was pleasantly surprised. I absolutely love her writing style. It was so easy to get lost in her story. Her characters were so easy to love and to hate. She had me frustrated with some of the characters thoughts and actions, that I wanted to reach in and shake them to knock some sense into them. I became close to them, as if they were in my front yard doing the whole story there and I was watching it unfold. I went from laughing to crying within pages.
A great story about not so close twins Heaven and Nevaeh Daniels. Heaven was always the apple of her parents eyes and Nevaeh, well, not so much. And she never really cared what they thought. They had sunk all of their interest in Heaven. Nevaeh had to deal with her twin's suicide, her obnoxious parents and she was so strong. I love stories with strong female leads.
This story will not disappoint anyone. I am anxiously looking forward to reading more by K. Pinson.
Wow! This was a short book packed with lots of excitement. Indentical twins Nevaeh and Heaven are complete opposites. Heaven is the perfect one, according to their parents. Nevaeh is the black sheep who gets treated poorly, so she leaves home as soon as she can. She joins a band that becomes her family. Several years go by, when her mom contacts her and lets her know that her sister committed suited and they want her to take over her life. She does what is asked of her and finds out that Heavens life wasn't as perfect as everyone thought. This book was full of angst and I loved every minute of it. For such a short book it had everything.
First off, K. Pinson is an amazing author! I love the way she writes and her ideas are amazingly brilliant! Now to the story! I love everything about this book. There is so much emotion just pouring out of this story. I can't imagine having to make the decisions Nevaeh had to make. Such a heartbreaking situation and I love how it touches on the fact that the grass is always greener on the other side. This story was one that I hadn't heard of yet and it's so refreshing to see an author put out a new idea and do it so well! I'm not much of a cryer when it comes to books but I'll be damned if this book didn't try! That's not even half of the emotion I felt reading this... I was getting whiplash (in a good way if that's even possible) from all the different emotions. Wish there was an option for more than 5 stars!!!
This book was amazing. I loved Nevaeh, I loved her from the beginning because her family was all about money and status, she wanted something real not something that put on a show. It broke my heart to read what she went through before Jamison. He saved her in so many ways. When it was time for her to follow through on her families crazy plan she didn't want to. She did though. I loved Ryker, he was a great guy with lots of love. I hated Tate! I knew something was off right away but didn't know what. When I found out the truth I was so scared for Nevaeh! The rest of the story was shocking, heartbreaking, and then it had a wonderful ending that I was hoping for. It's a wonderful and sweet book. You need to read it. It is about family and how sometimes they are not right for us. They can be evil and this story shares how a wonderful person got free from that.
This is my first encounter with a K. Pinson book. And I can tell you it certainly won't be the last! What an amazing writer she is. So many stories have similar plotlines but NOT this one. (I won't re-tell the story the synopsis will tell you all you need to know.) This storyline is quite unique. Nevaeh has a vulnerability that draws you to her, you are able to feel what she feels through the excellence of the writing. The decisions Nevaeh has to make are tough and she makes these based on helping others rather than herself, however along the way she realizes that she has to be strong and independent. Love and loss are what teaches her this. I loved how the author changed POV towards the end of the book, this added a new dimension that I wasn't expecting. I loved this book and am now going looking for more from this author! I happily award it 5 stars ~ Rosie
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this and I am happy to leave an honest review. I loved it! I have recently read so many books that have similar story plots to each other and some go as far as same or similar names as each other. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM!! I have cried, and I mean proper snotty sobbing, giggled, chewed my nails and got angry at characters whilst reading this. There are dark twists and tear inducing situations all beautifully woven into this amazing story. It made me rethink the "perfect" lives people project may be far from it. There is no annoying shorthanded, and I can happily recommend this to people. K Pinson has created a thought provoking pleasure to read.
After reading the blurb for this book I figured it was a bit of a tearjerker and I was a little hesitant to read it. I usually find books that make me cry unappealing. But since this was gifted to me I gave it a try. I ended up loving it. It was beautifully written and the characters were amazing. This book has a very unique storyline that grabbed my attention right in the beginning and kept me up most of the night. I couldn’t put it down. This story has a ton of unexpected twists as well as several heart wrenching moments. I look forward to reading more works by this author.
Between The Raindrops, my heart broke and then it healed.
Honestly, I have no words to express my feelings on this book. K. Pinson takes you for one wild ride in Between The Raindrops. She makes you fall in love and rips your heart out, she completely shreds it to pieces and then stitches it all back together. I'm not sure how she did IT, but she did IT with this book. I feel like the stories of these characters will live on in my head. The character development was awesome. I'll be anxiously awaiting the day this becomes a movie so I can see it all come to life on a big screen too. You rock KP!
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This story drew me in from the very start. I had a love/hate relationship with the whole book because it really drew out a lot of emotions. Once I felt like I knew where the story was going, it took a hard left and didn't see how there could ever be a happy ending. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat guessing how Neveah's story would play out. Great quick read and a definite must! Another great book by K. Pinson.
I first read Between the Raindrops back in June 2015. Here it is January 2017 being re-released and I haven't forgotten any of the story. Nev is such a strong main character, she deals with devastating tragedies but continues to live. There are twist and turns I definitely didn't figure out and I was shocked. I cried, I got angry, I felt happiness... Ugh so many emotions. I just wish we could've been given a little more insight into the couple at the end. I recommend this book it is a story that will stay with the reader.
I was given an ARC by the Author in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book. This story was unlike so many others out there. No alpha billionaire here. These characters are real and flawed! This story will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions from beginning to end. I enjoyed the way the author tells the story, no fluff, just right to the point! She will give you just what you need and its perfect every time. This book will not disappoint!
I weirdly loved this book. It's twisted and hot and I don't know. K. Pinson has a very unique style of writing. She's not fluffy and her books aren't as long as some, but they are never short of feeling and emotion. Sometimes I get the emotion before I even understand what's going on. I love a book when I don't know what's going to happen. Katelynn's warped little mind unapologetically delivers that every time. And also...Jamison. You need know nothing else. Go get Jamison!
Quick read about a girl who has to take over her identical twins life. She is the bad twin who was shunned by her parents, and now needs to step in to help them. A few twists and turns that include the men of Nevs present and past. Some hot parts to the book. There's also a part of the story that hits close to home for me. A few errors, but nothing that takes away from the story.
This is the first book I've read by K Pinson and WOW!!! Where do I begin? I was captivated very quickly! Good twin and bad twin....good twin dies and bad twin is brought in to take over good twin's life because of the parents! And it all goes to hell!! So many twist and turns! I have to say, I don't like sad books at all and this does have a small sad part, but thank goodness, it isn't a major part of this book! I would recommend this book!
I received this ARC for an honest review. I really liked this book. There were some grammatical errors and sometimes the story felt a little rushed in places imo. but I loved the characters and the emotions in the book! I finished it in 2 days cause I couldn't put it down and I didn't want it to end!
I really enjoyed reading this story. It is different than some of the other romance stories I've read. Neveah was put into a rather messed up situation. She had to make some difficult choices that I'm not sure many people would have been able to make. I loved that the story didn't end how I would have expected it to.
