A LOVE WITHOUT REASON OR RHYME — Of all her many suitors among the ton, Lady Susan Brooke found herself strangely drawn to a man unlike any of the others.... Dashing widower Alan Houghton hardly seemed aware of this impulsive beauty, but he was willing to hire her when her headstrong actions caused his governess to quit her post. — It was more than an act of graciousness when Susan stepped in to care for Alan's children -- for she was undeniably attracted to this kind and steady man who seemed so reluctant to love. But was her heart ready for a true and tender romance?

I don't understand why Lady Susan would pursue an uninterested widower with three children. Especially since the eldest daughter hates her with passion. Just too ugh.
