Camelot Untold #3

Realm of Kings

Rate this book
I did not come to Camelot to choose, yet I now face the most impossible choice of all…I hold a secret no one else knows. A secret that will change the entire landscape of Logres. Merlin said it’s for my ears only—that if I tell King Arthur, it will disrupt the mythical prophecy. But screw the prophecy, right? I’m not sure how long my chatty ass can hold onto a secret of this magnitude anyway.I have to choose Camelot or my own world. To end the cycle trapping this land in a vicious time loop, I can never leave. If I do leave, I can never return. I have to be stronger and braver than my ancestors, who failed to stop it. I don’t want to live in Camelot without Arthur and my sinful Knights of the Round Table, but I can’t imagine living in my world having known them, either. My knights are obsessed with me. They see me as their Ever Queen, with untapped power . . . and the weird shit I’m starting to do might prove them right. They think I’m the key to stopping King Mordred’s reign and the terrible curse cast by Morgan le Fay. For all our sakes, I can’t let them down. It’s time for war.Author’s Realm of Kings is the final book in the “Camelot Untold” trilogy. This steamy fantasy romance retelling of Arthurian legends contains more trigger warnings than ever before. There are many twisted, shocking scenes, so please read the content warning at the beginning of the book! The good guys do bad things, and the bad guys do unspeakable things. For those who treat their trigger warnings like a checklist, you’re in luck!

KC Kingmaker lives in San Diego and has been writing and reading fantasy and romance for years.

"Briarwitch Academy" was KC’s first foray into paranormal romance, trying to bridge the genres to make something steamy, funny, mysterious, action-packed, and most of all, fun!

"Dragon Shifter Dominion" came after, trying to meld that same steaminess with traditional fantasy, to create a romantic fantasy explosion!

"Shadowblade Academy," KC’s third series, is technically a spin-off of Briarwitch Academy, though it can be read as a standalone series. It has just as much intrigue and mystery and steam as the others, but things get a bit darker.

"Camelot Untold," KC’s fourth series, is a deep, dark dive into the rich lore of Arthurian legends. It’s reverse harem fantasy romance.

"Robin Hood and Her Merciless Men" is KC’s fifth series, and another spicy, dark retelling of an iconic legend.

“We’re forgetting the elephant in the room.”
“No,” Arthur says, “Lancelot is right here.”

With this book, the Camelot Untold trilogy comes to an end. How am I feeling you ask? My brain is mush. I have transcended the mortal realm and entered Avalon. Goodbye.

I was honestly so anxious throughout the entirety of this book, because as we know, for the curse to end, the Pendragon line must too.

How was Guin going to stop this? Would she be able to? Or would I just finish the book and want to throw my phone at the wall over and over again?

WELL, IT ALMOST CAME TO THAT, but KC fixed it in the last second, literally. THANK YOU KC!!! I would not be able to live if you know who died. They're my pookie.

I could NOT have been happier than I was in that epilogue, EXCEPT, if we got more scenes between just the two of them. Everyone else got more page time, so it's only fair they get a novella!!! I need to be fed, okay.

But let me talk about something else for a second, which is the battle scenes. I've read all of KC's series and they all have battle scenes, but I feel like they just keep getting better and better and the epic battle at the end was one for the history books.

Like, it was all so smooth, I was going wowww. I'm kind of indifferent to battle scenes, but you know, maybe I like them if KC writes them.

Now back to the steam. There was no lute scene in this one, so my sanity remains intact (mostly). But rest assured, there are many creative new scenes for you to sink your teeth into instead.

You never really know what you're going to get in that department, but that's part of the fun. And these books are very fun. I've had such a good time reading all three of them and I wish we had even more of them to look forward to. And maybe we will, I'm manifesting.

I think I forgot to mention this before, but I like that we also have recaps at the start of the book. Even though these characters rarely leave my brain, it's still nice to get a refresher. Because, I, unlike dear Sir Lancelot, am no elephant.

PLEASE, I HAD TO INCORPORATE THAT IN SOMEWHERE I DIED LAUGHING.

But yes yes, I love when authors care about their readers like that.

I can't wait to see what other things KC comes up with next, I know they're going to be awesome.

P.S. It started raining when I finished this. Coincidence? I THINK NOT! The universe is letting us know it demands MORE!!!

*Thank you to the amazing author who provided me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review*

The Story/Plot: Guin and her knights return for the final installment of this series. She has reunited with her knights, and now they set out to reclaim Camelot. They face many obstacles in their quest, and as they say, "all is fair in love and war." This is a fight to restore not only Camelot but also the bonds with the other kingdoms. Their erotic escapades definitely continue in this book, and Kingmaker adds in some different spice into the mix.

Strengths: I absolutely fell in love with these characters from the first book through to this one, and I love the multiple POVs that it's told in. Each character are unique and have their own character flaws, which I feel adds to the depth of their development.

There is a little more world building in this, but most was captured in the first and second books. I would definitely say that the level of spice is not for the faint of heart, and this is largely more smut than the plot. However, I still found it to be a good balance. s world is created in such a way that, as the reader, I was fully immersed, and I could not put this book down! I definitely did not see the plot twist coming!

Weaknesses: There was a mild level of predictability, but there were still quite a few things I was not expecting.

The was fun but I lowered my rating purely on the length. It was absolutely too long but I enjoyed the story overall. This was a fun retelling.

I’m forever grateful to the amazing author for sharing an ARC of this book with me!!! I’m so glad I got to meet these characters and live in this twisted but hot mess version of Camelot with its Once and Future King!!!

“Because you’ll be too busy screaming our names, little girl.”

“I’m just wondering when the time will come all six of us can partake together.”

And with this great finale … the incredibly spicy and steamy and dark adventure of Guinevere and the Knights of the Round Table comes to an end. What a ride!!! (Literally)
This Book three in the Camelot Untold series was so much more unhinged and hot and messy and spicy and steamy than the previous two books, and I loved every second of it. With its bittersweet and frustrating and funny moments in the plot twists, and incredibly amazing choices when it comes to characters dynamic.
With some wonderfully handsome and dark and twisted knights, Lancelot, Kay, Gawain, Percival and Mordred… but Arthur is still the one and only in my heart!!!
Guinevere had the time of her life this time around despite the whole “we are at war”situation in between the whole thing.
(Demon Lancelot is free to do as he pleases)
We get delivered hot scenes every other chapter - which I loved - but also characters growth and plot development which is always appreciated.
I so adored the increasing insights into the knights personal and past lives - even more interesting due to what we know after reading book two - and you get to love them even more.
Merlin is as mysterious and complex and shadowy as he is in the legends … which is so good!!!!
It was one heck of a rollercoaster with heart palpitations and pain and fear and excitement all together!!!
And such a great happy ending, I’m already nostalgic of the whole thing !!!

“This is fucking Logres, in the time of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
I’ve long since agreed to take the good with the bad.”

“My knights are fucking madmen.”

SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Guin and her Knights have reunited. But all is not sunshine and rainbows. Now they must seek out allies in the upcoming war against Mordred and Morgan. And that's proving...problematic.

On top of that, Guin has the dire looming prophecy that Merlin shared with her to deal with. She's doing everything she can to avoid it.

REVIEW:

Phew. This was a long one. I liked it. Loved the world building, atmosphere, story and the characters. But it definitely felt a little too long to me.

Still, it was a fun read. Lots of adventure (which I LOVE). Lots of steamy good times (which I also LOVE).

I am glad that she finally told Arthur and the others about the things Merlin showed her. I'm not surprised he betrayed her. I honestly thought he was actually working with Morgan. But even though he wasn't, he was still sketchy.

The ending was unexpected with her being a phoenix of some sort? Interesting but I would have loved more of an explanation. And I don't even understand who the Lady of the Lake is.

I'm glad it ended happy. I'm glad Mordred joined the RH because I suspected that would happen for a while. Yay!

However, I didn't love her implying she might add MORE men to her harem. I mean, the way Guin formed her thoughts about this just felt like she's planning to collect men. And that's not my cuppa. I love that she has a connection with each of her guys. I don't want her adding men just because she's attracted to them. So that soured my mood towards her a bit.

But overall I really enjoyed this series. Like I said before, the entire atmosphere of this series is fantastic, and it's been a fun and sexy adventure!

This story continues with Guin, King Arthur and her knights— a battle has been fought, losses suffered, identities exposed, prophecies revealed and secrets promised. Now a woman becomes a queen, knights become kings, and they prepare to fight for their kingdom— for Camelot.
The odds are against them and the prophecy promises death, but Guin refuses to accept defeat after coming so far. She will not loose her new home to darkness and cannot live in a realm without ALL of her men— those who have ravaged her, protected her and loved her. So she decides to change their fate. But can she change that which is already set or is she destined to suffer the loss of the ones she loves…

It has dragons, shifters, demons, magic, wizards, prophecies, curses, politics, war, duels, secrets and love.
This dark medieval fantasy romance is extra steamy, debaucherous and raunchy— bringing the King Arthur and Knights of the Round Table tale to the most twisted dirtiest heights, while keeping things magical and exciting.

Guin embraces her power and her Knights let her take the lead as their Ever Queen, while remaining protective, dominating, possessive and obsessive in the most delicious ways.
Their why choose romance heats up even more, as another dark knight officially joins in— with extra kinky, monster lovin’, dominating, public, breathe play, group stuff— delivering on ALL the pleasurable depraved deliciousness.
It’s dirty dirty dirty but still has heart and love, just shared among many.

This series is smut forward, character driven and has a plot focused on the survival of a realm of sin, ruin and kings— where the men hold power, but the women hold even more, and choose when men can take it for some dirty fun.

This series is by far one of the most fun series I’ve read. I’m so amazed at how KC Kingmaker was able to write such an awesome plot while also making it smutty with beautiful character growth throughout each book.

I was so excited to get into the world of Camelot again and KC did an outstanding job wrapping up the story in this final book. I also enjoyed how she was able to remind the reader of things that had happened in previous books without being over the top and repetitive.

Throughout the series each character had to overcome obstacles of their family + their own issues. The Found Family trope was done absolutely phenomenally. KC truly has a way of making you fall in love with each of her characters for each of their differences (she also did a fantastic job of making you despise certain characters too 😂).

Overall, this will go down as one of my favorite smutty trilogies and I will recommend it to any smutty Romantasy lover I know. 🥰

Are you reading this series yet? If not, what are you waiting for?! You’re missing out on one of the most exhilarating experiences you can find in a book!!

Thank you KC for writing such a great book. I look forward to reading many more of your books in the future.

First off, you need to read these books in order to discover exactly what's going on. Wow! I could hardly put this final book in the series down and already miss the characters like they are family!

Book 3 does not disappoint and continues on with the knights and Guin doing their best to form a new army and save their home, Camelot. This is all while Guin is figuring out the prophesy and the many secrets she's keeping from her king and knights. Merlin has "shown" her much and her head is whirling. Will she do what the other Guins have done, leave Camelot and keep the cycle replaying, or stay and try to change history.

War is imminent as Mordred and his evil aunt have control over Camelot. Again, the fights are brutal, the love/sex scenes are erotic and very detailed, involving all the famous knights and our heroine. Not for the faint of heart at all and very over the top-almost too much so.

While the treks building a new army is tedious and long, the devotion, loyalty, adventures and love between these wild, brutal knights with their modern Guin and each other, is what makes this the great read it is. Book 3 does not disappoint. I already miss the King, Knights and their Ever Queen!

Go Women Power Amongst The Realm Of Kings!

Realm of Kings is the third book in the Camelot Untold trilogy and absolutely must be read in order so, start with Realm of Sin and move forward from there. The series is complete and you don’t have to wait so just enjoy the binge read!

Realm Of Kings is the conclusion of an epic fantasy romance with a twist on the tale of Camelot, King Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot and many of the other Knights of the Round Table. Do not expect sweet, shiny knights living in gleaming castles with gentleness and valor.

Prepare yourself for gritty, dark and dirty. With tenacious, brave and empathetic women, brazen, shameless and cheeky knights, foes that will tempt you and make you despise them all at the same time and villains who demand your attention. Don’t forget the legendary beasts, magical creatures and enchanted items of myth.

There are plenty of secrets, lies, betrayal, treachery and trickery as well as intense fealty, adoration, passion and spice (this is a reverse harem after all). There is a well thought out and creative plot with complex characters that grabbed my attention.

I will miss this world and highly recommend checking this trilogy out! These are my first books by KC Kingmaker and I will definitely be checking out some of her other work!

OMG!! What an outstanding conclusion to this amazing trilogy!! It was everything I could have hoped for, plus a whole hell of a lot more. There was intense action, edge of your seat suspense, nail biting anxiety inducing moments, emotional turmoil, and some very titillating and deliciously steamy moments. This was one hell of a journey that continually had my heart racing and my panties melting. And now it’s over - ugh!

The creative and imaginative imagery and world building was exceptional, the fighting scenes were violent and bloody, and the buildup to the final epic battle was intense and explosively written.

I cannot say enough of how incredible it all was and that Guinevere and her Knights will forever play a role in my future fantasies!!

Brilliantly written with such outstanding and incredible characters who we have all grown to love over the course of the trilogy, and with a storyline that was filled with plot twist after plot twist, which kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through.

Plus, the ending was absolutely perfect!!!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I LOVED THIS SERIES!! My favorite series of 2023!!! Thank you, KC Kingmaker, for allowing me to live inside this world all year. I am sad to see this series come to an end :( I would love another 5 books exploring the adventure of Arthur and his steamy knights ;)
One thing I want to address is your statement at the end. KC, i do hope your books become part of Arthuriania because I do believe they deserve a place their! These books are unique, combing fantasy and Arthurin lore, and they are written in a realistic way that the reader feels she IS Guinevere! Which is downright, fun!
I love these Knights and their world, and I hope fans who are as well versed in the Arthurian legends like I am see the beauty in what this author has created! Dragons, wolf demons, smut, excalibur - this series has it all! ⚔️💜⚔️

Also, on a side note;

Thanks for making Lancelot have two black swords! All throughout, I was picturing Lancelot from King Arthur 2004!! So so damn sexy!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

What a ride!

I'm a huge sucker for King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable retellings. Like the author, I also felt that set up practically demanded to be written as a reverse harem. I'm so glad KC Kingmaker went there.

I appreciated the author's note at the end, because she address my two biggest critiques for this series: the language and the near contact steamy scenes. As for the language, I did get pulled out on occasion by her use of modern terms, but I understand why she chose to do that and I agree that it did make for a smoother reading experience.

The steamy scenes were well written and each one was unique, but I did reach a point where I wanted to slim over them to get to the plot.

Aside from those two critiques, this really was a wonderful series. I enjoyed Guin's adventures with her knights and I would definitely recommend this series. I plan to check out more of this author's books.

Per the usual, KC Kingmaker does not disappoint— not in the plot and world building, or the spice that accompanies it. Even though this book, like the others, is high spice the plot and the depth of the characters does not get lost in the grey.

The overview at the beginning to jog my memory was so helpful as it’s been a hot minute since I had read the second novel and the fact that it wasn’t vague and actually has a lot of detail? Sold.

I absolutely fell in love with our FMC all over again, and loved the continuation of the plot that simply sucked me in at the end of the last novel. The ending of this series? Perfect. I don’t think I could have written it any differently and wouldn’t change a thing at all.

Also — triggers. This book has a handful. Read at your own risk after the trigger list in the book!

I don´t know how this series got so much worse down the line...
I was expecting a romance, when it didn´t happen in book 1, I hoped it was maybe just a slowburn and would bloom through the books, but nope. This didn´t feel like a romance, instead it feels more like watching your friend interact with her fuckbuddies who she doesn´t realize, are red flags who don´t really love her..... I mean he introduced her as "a friend"...come on now. Also how are all of you so damn horny all the time...can you not have ONE conversation with each other about each other!? The smut scenes were not it either, they were really "male gaze" coded and just not it.
The plot felt like it got really messy with some filler in between, which disrupted the flow of the pacing for me. Overall an unsatisfying ending to this trilogy.

"That Lady Guinevere is the luckiest b-- in the realm."

For reals though! Lancelot is still my main man!! But it was really fun getting more background on all the guys! It opens up why the way they are and made me love them so much more!!

Realm of Kings is the 3rd and final book in the Camelot Untold trilogy!! And I can say I'm happy with how K.C. wrapped it all up! This is a steamy RH romantasy retelling of King Arthur legends! And ohhh boy is it spicy!! Talk about creative playtime!!

The character growth is fantastic and it's an exciting adventure of morally grayness!! The battle scenes are epic - like watching LotR or something!! I was really impressed with her battle prowess! This book is thiiiiic but well worth the read!! I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!!!

It's pure filth- and I LOVE it

The trilogy was spicy, dirty, fast paced and a great story. There was epic peril, love, side stories, and magic. I was a little worried this would be one of those stories that was too much boring detail and not enough to keep me hooked. I'm really glad I gave this a go. I love that the books were over 300 pages and have several different points of view.

My only complaints: the last chapter and epilog felt rushed. I would of liked 4 to wrap everything up and then the epilog giving us a time jump to them having (or not having) Bank.

Also, I would of loved to see a little snippet of what happened to the crappy ex who she left on the river bank.

I never leave reviews - this is a must read and will be re-read

I can’t believe we never get an update on what happened on Earth after Guin disappeared, but I hope Clay is forever haunted because everyone thinks he murdered Guin. Going to England to support your ex at her grandmother’s funeral because you’re the only person in the world she could lean on, and then sleeping with the waitress in the next room even though it’s clear she still has feelings? Straight to hell.

Also I need justice for Guinevere #1 who was presumably Arthur’s wife who he loved very much as well as that King’s daughter. It seems like no one remembers her still? Even though from everyone else’s point of view she only vanished a few months ago.

Also, weird that father and son end up having group sex. It can’t be helped.

This is the 3rd installment of this series, and it does not disappoint. We continue to follow Guinevere, Arthur, Lancelot and the Knights of the Round Table as they race to stop Mordred and Morgan Le fay before they destroy everything. This story is filled with adventure, shocking twists, secrets revealed as well as lots and lots of spice. This book is a little longer than the previous two, but that just means it is jam packed with more of everything we have come to love from this series. I have loved this series since day one and I am going to miss it. This story brings it all home in the best possible way.

What a spectacular ending to the Camelot Untold trilogy. There was so much to digest and honestly it’s a bittersweet ending.

There was plenty of spice and boy was it spicy…. But for me the plot was kickass. Guinevere became stronger and I loved seeing her leadership come to head.

I love all the knights, and Sir Lancelot is utter perfection but King Arthur is MY MAN!!

Never in my life did I ever imagine Camelot stories and fables being a why choose but now that I’ve read this series, I can never ever go back.

This is the third and final book in the Camelot Untold series. Wow what a story. There is so much going on. I was glad for the recap of the people and characters at the beginning to remind me of it all. All the details draw you into their lives. It was very hard to put down. So many twists and turns, danger and of course, STEAM. Can’t believe it’s finished. Now she’ll just have to write a new series. Can’t wait!

Not gonna lie this was an amazing ending to the series!
Guin and her Knights are absolutely AMAZING! Plus there is off the charts steam!
There was so much that happened in this book that it seems like it’d be even bigger than it is, but wow! I’m so sad that this series is over but I’m so hopefully we’ll get to see some more of them!

This book is perfect for anyone who wants some steamy scenes in their pages!’

Gwen is the key, she just doesn’t know it. Sent back to the time of Camelot, Gwen must convince King Arthur and his knights of how to save their past to guarantee their future!

Merlin is mental, in a hysterical way. Mordred is totally misunderstood. And of course the villian is a bad ass bitch.

Gwen has the time of her life - filled with adventure, debauchery and sword fights! This series is magical, entertaining and down right dirty!

LOVE

I love love love love love this series as a whole. As individual books the love is even more. The sex scenes, the chemistry, the storyline, the shock value added in when needed was everything and more. If I could give a 10 star rating I so would. Amazing series there’s nothing I would change about it.

What a perfect wrap up to the series. I lost sleep, stole moments at work, took any free second to devour this book. I won’t say much so I don’t spoil anything but I will say that the final volume far exceeds those that preceded. I’m more than satisfied!
