Faced with the uncertainty of what lies ahead, Natalie Johnson continues to worry the worst has yet to come.
With the return of her mother and an enemy now at bay, she finds that resentment runs deep through the soul of one who wishes you harm.
But once she receives some unforeseen news about Jeremy, Natalie is forced to come to terms with her own feelings. And she will soon discover deception comes at a price—no matter how good the intention—and that buried secrets always find a way to come back and haunt you.
Lisa Campbell's Wicked trilogy is the only body of work written under this name. She continues to write novels using a pseudonym.
Ms. Campbell graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor Arts degree in English. She works part-time as an educator in the inner city schools. On the days when she is not working to inspire young minds, she likes to spend her spare time reading, plotting stories in her head, and trying out new recipes. She lives in the Midwest with her husband and young son.
I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway.
This is the second book in the series and a lot of the story revolves around the previous story, or at least knowledge of what occurred before, although the book does provide enough information about what happened to get by.
The story follows Natalie after the attack and discovering more about her mother, who has returned from the psychiatric hospital, and the struggle of her failing parents relationship. The strange occurrences, put down to hoodoo magic, get worse.
A simple quick, but enjoyable store.
I believe that due to the fact I hadn't read the first book meant I didn't fully get the enjoyment or depth of the story.
I won this book through a good reads giveaway. it was a easy and light read but I found that the story line didn't keep my interest. I see that this is a second book in a series; I did not read the first book.
