This was such an inspiring second chance romance! Winter is a snow leapord that found sanctuary at Windsong in Alaska. She ran away from her fated mate, Sean. He arrives in Alaska to take her home, but she has other plans. I love how Winter made Sean really make up for his mistakes he made in the past. They work together to help take down the Shadow League. Sean also gets to know this new Winter, and he falls more in love with her.

Winter and Sean’s story is a great read. After a two year search Sean finally finds his missing mate at Windsong, being Colby’s beta no less. As you follow all the twists and turns in their story regarding their relationship, plus the Shadow Leagues involvement this read just gets better and better. Can’t wait for Derek’s book to find out how it all ends up.

WINTER WASN’T COMING; IT HAD ALREADY ARRIVED

The story is part of the new Mystic River Shifters. It will have a great cast of characters, including humans and shifters. While you could read this out of order, to fully understand the characters and interactions, it is best if they are read in written order, because it is an ongoing saga. Each story picks up from where the last one left off (especially within the epilogue.) This story will be between Sean Campbell, Alpha of Curaidh Castle in The Highlands, Scotland, and Winter MacKinnon.

Winter will become a pawn used to save her father’s life and become the mate of Sean Campbell—but, not just his mate, he knows she is his fated mate. While he takes vows, she refuses and that doesn’t bother him—she is his—until she isn’t.

“Only Winter had fooled them all and when he’d gone to claim her as his mate—she was gone.”

The story of Sean and Winter is a game of hide and seek that will take him two long years and thousands of dollars to locate her. When he does, it will be in Mystic River. But, Winter isn’t just a female snow leopard shifter in hiding—oh no, she is trained and defies the rules and is beta to none other than the gangster, Colby at Windsong.

“The truth was, she was in fact, Colby’s unofficial beta and served him in a capacity and that capacity alone. She was also his spymaster, who was responsible for gathering and disseminating intelligence as was needed.”

“There was a fight coming. The Shadow League was growing restless and those in Mystic River and Otter Cove meant to make a fight of it.”

“The family you had by blood might have betrayed you, but the family you made my choice will not.”

I loved the story and how Sean and Winter do find each other and rather than arrogance, there is respect for one another. Winter isn’t one to be trifled with, she is smart, tough, and can hold her own. But she also knows she is Sean’s fated mate. He has respect for the woman she is and acknowledges her intelligence and abilities. So, the time apart was good and now, they will work as a team.

“Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt. In case the Shadow League missed it, the thunder has begun to roll.”

It is fun seeing strong female characters and men who respect them and give credit where it is due. The men may be dominant, but the females are feisty, and together, they make a powerful team.

“Only the good die young. God isn’t ready for you, and the devil is afraid you’ll take over. I have to say I’m not sure I don’t think the devil is right. Seriously, though, are you all right?”

The story doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but does set up the next story in the series. I loved the chemistry between Sean and Winter. I will say that they were one of my favorite couples.

“Our kind uses the term ‘fated mate’ pretty liberally and often not correctly. But you are my fated mate, my destiny, my forever, and I will never let you go.”

I read ALOT. I tend to latch onto an author/series that I like, & read as many books as I can get my hands on, as long as the stories hold my interest & draw me on.

Delta James is an author that knows how to capture & hold your interest, leaving you impatient for the next installment, if the series is not complete.

That’s been the case with both the Mystic River & Otter Cove series, even more so as there is overlap between them. (And I have a suspicion that major events will soon bring major overlap).

In the 5th story in the Mystic River series, Runaway Mate, we get to know Sean Campbell & Winter MacKinnon. They are fated mates, but Delta’s leading ladies are ALWAYS too independent & feisty to just quietly agree. 🤣. So, we get another lively tale. There was a mating ceremony, but the claiming wasn’t completed. Winter escaped & Sean has been searching for her for two long years. Considering that most of Delta’s shifters are ex-special forces, you’d think that, by now, they’ve had enough exposure to the modern world to know that their fated mates just don’t make it easy on them! (And really, as they come out the other side of the chase, they really wouldn’t want them to. LOL. ). You might want to smack Sean a time or two… I did. 😆

It takes both Sean & Winter some time to truly accept & appreciate each other. Their steamy compatibility advances the cause, & keeps things hot!! It’s interesting that Sean appears to make the most personal growth; their solutions to the challenges of their relationship almost make him an enlightened male! I enjoyed his journey!

Delta also advances the storyline that is part of both Mystic River & Otter Cove. We have more answers… that bring more questions. The sense of urgency is deepening. There are familiar faces that are part of the story. How will things resolve? I, for one, can’t wait to see.

Can you runaway when you are fated?

This was an enjoyable book to read. It is another one that is going to lead up to, what I am sure is going to be an epic battle with the Shadow League.

I do have to say that I really disliked the main male character Sean in the first part of the book. He was arrogant, boorish and set in his antiquated ways. Winter, a strong Snow Leopard, refused to be bartered off to Sean to pay for her useless father's mistake. After being married against her will but before the claiming can happen, she escapes. Winter builds a new life in Mystic River, Alaska with the help of Colby Reynolds. Here she is valued and has built a happy life for herself. Two year later, Sean is still looking for her. He finds her and leaves Scotland to fly to Alaska to bring her home. Remember I said he was arrogant and boorish? His colors show when he attempts to throw his weight around in an attempt to take Winter back - weight that has no power in Mystic River. He fails. He will need to change his behavior totally if he wants to claim Winter as his forever mate. All this is happening as Winter and Colby try to find out the plans of the Shadow Warriors in order to prepare for battle. Once Colby comes around after being knocked down a peg or two he becomes a likeable guy. And together with Winter and Colby he is prepared to fight.

If fated mates, shifter, passion, intrigue and suspense are your thing, then you will enjoy this book (if you have read the others in this series and the Otter Cove series). This is very good, albeit a short read that is one more piece of the puzzle for the Alaska Shifters of Mystic River and Otter Cove.

Riveting addition to series, characters and plot continue to grow in intensity, drama and complacency

Seam Campbell is the alpha of the Scottish highland clan and he has been searching for his mate for the two years since she escaped after being forced into a mating by her father to save his life after he had been included in the death of the previous Alpha of the clan.

She had been helped by the Shadow Sisters before the mating had been carried out and she had gone to The Alpha of Windsong in Alaska and had become hid Beta, as well as his Spymaster and she was exceptionally good at her job, keeping her clan safe and forming strong bonds with the other shifters that resided in Mystic River and Otter Cove.

Now that Sean and his Beta have finally found Winter and has seen the way she has become such an integral part of the pack at Windsong even though she is not a Lynx. Also, he finally seeing firsthand that the Shadow League is not a figment it is real and its threat is extremely dangerous to all of the Shifters worldwide and the clans agree to fight together.

It will be interesting to see how the decisions made at the end of this story were implemented by the various shifter Alphas and if it had the desired effect against the Shadow league, and what changes the Betas make in their new positions in both Riversong and Curaidh Castle in the beautiful highlands.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

This was a small town second chance shifter romance.

This is the fifth book of the Mystic River Shifters series and could be the best which is saying a lot because I have loved every book in the series. The domineering arrogant male lead and the strong willed fiercely independent female lead make for a dynamic combination. Highly recommend!

Winter MacKinnon is a snow leopard shifter whose father gives her in marriage to a rival alpha to pay back a blood debt. She refuses to speak the vows and later escapes his room with the help of a Shadow Sister. She makes her way to Kodiak, Alaska and the lynx clowder at Windsong. Colby Reynolds the alpha has her acting as his spymaster and beta.

Sean Campbell is the alpha of the Curaidh snow leopard clan in the Scottish Highlands. He knew as soon as he met Winter she was his fated mate. He has spent the last two years trying to track down his mate. He gets word of her location so he and his beta Hamish go to Kodiak Island to bring her back.

They get into a physical altercation and he is later arrested for stealing a car. As part of his release he has to stay at Windsong to get to know Winter. Their tumultuous relationship gets steamy and they find themselves catching feelings. Meanwhile they have to deal with a threat from the Secret League. Sean has pledged his clan to help with the coming war. They have tentative plans for their future and get their HEA.

I absolutely loved this fated mates book it maybe a short story but it's Jam packed with action.
At the start of the book we see Sean in Scotland and I really disliked his character he was arrogant, stuck in an old way view towards female mates and didn't believe that women could fight and be a strong support in any wars or battles along side their mate/alpha.
But when he finds Winter after two years he's shocked at how strong she is and is beta to a pack alpha in Alaska whete she is loved and respected by everyone there.
She does have feelings for Sean but she won't let him behave like a caveman and throw her over is shoulder and run back to Scotland. Winter wants Sean to see the real her who is as strong as any male and will make a strong mate he can rely on in every way. The info Winter's collecting is showing that the Shadow league are preparing for a war and its not far off.
This book has everything. Fated Mates a very feisty Female lead, suspense, lots of passion love and some one looking for a second chance.
It has twists and turns ups and downs and you won't put it done until you've finished.
Even though you can read as a standalone book it is also a part of the mystic river and otter cove series and has its own part to play.
I loved this book and will be look at all the books in the series so I can read them in order.
I recommend this book to all and it won't disappoint.
I got this book as an ARC and I am leaving an honest voluntary review.

Runaway Bride, book five in Delta James’ series Mystic River Shifters, went by so quickly for me that it was over before I had a chance to fully absorb all the implications of Sean’s and Winter’s relationship. The overarching story of the Shadow League was more in evidence than the progression of their relationship. Perhaps that is because Sean’s acknowledgment of Winter’s abilities is so integral to the battles against the Shadow League. Even Kyra, Colby’s sister, and Scott Hardaway (brother to Graham MacLean, Laird of the MacLean Clan, and one the alliance is going to try to bring to their side in the upcoming fight) are mentioned in more than passing. Are the upcoming books going to be devoted to bringing together all these disparate elements until the Shadow League is complete defeated? That, of course, is impossible, because there are always going to be people who want to obtain and retain power over others, but they can be defanged for long periods of time. All parties appear to agree that there will be no one great big battle, nor a war fought on conventional terms. All speculation aside, the book has the seamless writing of Ms. James and was, as always, extremely enjoyable. I would like to mention one jarring note: all the heavily italicized paragraphs.

Part of the Mystic River Shifters series each can be read as a standalone with a sexy shifter who loses his mate and takes him a few years to locate her. Winter is one of the strongest snow leopard I have read about, she is a sweetheart, but a pawn used by her father to save his life she is forced to take a mate and she went through with the marriage but made plans of her own she refused to be stay in something that she didn’t choose for herself. Sean sexy as all cougar couldn’t believe his luck in marrying his fated mate forced yes but she was his fated so he knew it would work so after their vows are said and preparations are made he comes back to their room to find her gone totally disappeared. This is where the adventure of hide and seek begins, so to speak because the chase is on, she is his fated mate and he intends to find her no matter how long it takes. Years later and thousands of dollars later he finds his girl in Mystic River but she isn’t the women that was forced to be his mate she is an intelligent, tough, women that he has to work to win her heart despite being her fated mate but will he be man enough to win her heart the right way, will she allow him to win her heart, will he work with her instead of against her, will he accept that she is Colby’s beta, are they headed to a fight are something so much more, and is there happiness for the two of them?

I love this series for its unique characters. What I like about Ms. James is how she portrays her female lead characters as feisty, strong, accomplished, and intelligent. The males are. Alphas, protective, deadly, persistent, and drool-worthy. Winter was a woman of fire and ice. A dichotomy of conflicting emotions. Sean was the typical Alpha, and it was his way or the highway.

Winter flees into the darkness of the night after being used as a sacrificial lamb for her father's sins. She finds a home in Mystic River, Alaska, as Colby Reynolds Beta until Sean finds her after two long years. This is where the game of cat and mouse plays out. Despite her best efforts, Sean tracts her down, intending to return to his home in Scotland, but she puts up a great fight. She was a mighty opponent.

I initially did not like Sean. He was arrogant and determined to claim Winter, despite her feelings. I admired how he changed his approach and started to listen and acknowledge Winter’s opinions. After all, they were fighting the same enemy.

The usual danger was from the Mission League, a mole within the group, and sizzling sex scenes. The book lacked punishment scenes, in my opinion, and the ending left m feeling up in the air as I thought it was abrupt. Overall a great read.

Winter and Sean are fated mates, but Sean is more caveman than leopard shifter toward Winter. The shadow sisters rescues Winter and she disappears from radar from Sean. Winter become a spymaster and beta for Cobly's organization that is preparing for the war against the shadow league ( an evil organization). When Sean discovers Winter is in Alaska, he goes there to get his mate. He discovers just how intelligent, strong, and capable his mate truly is. It opens his eyes to the way all female shifters are treated and he gains a new respect of his mate. Sean will respect her need to be in the up coming battle and he'll do that beside his fated mate.
This book has spies, gangsters, shifters of all sorts, protective alphas, intelligent sassy women, wonderful characters, steamy, element of danger, adventure, plenty of action, and a happily-ever- mating couple. This book gives off a James Bond kind of feel to it with an evil organization trying to take over the world and the good guys fighting to keeps the world safe, except with shifters and no one main character as a 007. I truly enjoyed this book and the series.

Great story about a pair of Scotish snowy leopard shifters who have a disagreement over their mating. Sean thinks it is a good idea to use leverage to force his mate to marry him. Winter doesn't see it the same way and manages to get away before Sean can claim her. It takes him two years to find her in, of all places, Alaska. But the woman who left him is not the woman he finds. Winter is now the beta and spymaster of a lynx clan on Kodiak Island. Colby Reynolds saw her potential and she is now a well-trained fighter and beloved by the clan. There is no way Sean will be able to easily extract her from Windsong's defenses. On top of that, he had managed to get himself arrested for car theft. Now, he is at Winter and Colby's mercy and he can see that his mate is a well-loved and well-respected member of the clan. Maybe it is time to change his tactics. He is now convinced that the Shadow League is a threat not only to the shifters on Kodiak Island, but even to his own clan in Scotland. Time to make nice.

I loved this story. Winter is a badass and Sean is a misguided male who is able to see his own ignorance...eventually. Things are heating up in the upcoming war between good and evil. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Tamed by his fierce and fearless kitty

Sean was so confident in his alpha role he never imagined his mate wouldn't want him. But alas, Winter preferred to be wooed vice traded to save her traitorous father's life. Strong-willed as any DJ heroine, she left him behind without a glance. When he finally tracks her down, he'll have his work cut out for him. Taming a mate is hard, but she'll whip him into shape in short order. She's proven she's good for more than being a pampered mate, and she won't let anyone diminish her because she's a female again.

I devoured this one, the smoking hot passion shared between the MCs making it practically impossible to put down. Winter never backed down from Sean, even when he was his most alpha self. She might not be a Wayward Mate, but her spirit is as fiery as those of the ladies who made me a DJ fan for life. She took a few swats to her behind, but she definitely gave as good as she got when they tussled. I like how DJ continues to weave in past and future characters from this and other series as she peels back the onion that is the Shadow League. I can't wait to see who all are behind that dark organization. A favorite in my digital bookcase.

The saga of the Shadow League's approaching defeat continues. This particular episode with Sean and Winter left me with questions.

I did like that the layers surrounding Colby wer being pulled back even further. I felt from the very beginning of the series there was more to Colby than was apparent on the surface.

As intense as Winter seemed at the beginning, (understandably so), I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about her. Sean was as obnoxious as Winter was intense. I ended up liking both of them. I had a real appreciation for Winter's cunning, strength, and intelligence. I loved Sean's turnaround in both thought and behavior. I also liked that with Winter in the picture, Colby wasn't alone.

Will Hamish and Trudy have a story? When will Myra and Scott turn up? Is there something special about Sean? Who is the mole? Who is Colby's fated mate? How long will Sean and Winter be at Windsong? I have so many little pieces to the big picture. I am looking forward to Derek's story. Another 4.5 star read.

When Sean, the arrogant alpha of the Curaidh clan of snow leopards, ordered his new bride locked away in his bedroom to await his pleasure while he joined the raucous wedding celebration, his strong-minded and resourceful mate promptly escaped his Scottish castle. It was the best thing that could have happened to their relationship.

In the two long years it took Sean to finally locate Winter, she had developed her innate strengths and abilities and become a force to be reckoned with as beta of a Mystic River, Alaska, shifter group and an accomplished spymaster. Rather than casually humble and dominate his mate, Sean would now have to woo and win her. He would also have to recognize and respect her skills. Fortunately, Sean chooses to partner with Winter, aligning his clan with hers in a dangerous battle against a sinister cabal. Together they thwart a deadly attack and Sean devises a plan that will allow his fierce mate to continue to use her skills while keeping her at his side.

Great standalone in the Mystic River Shifter series!.

Sean is the alpha of his clowder. He was given Winter from her father to pay off his debt. Sean was definitely in the mindset that a woman is a possession and nothing else. Winter is one who is not fond of being a possession. She is strong, feisty, and very sassy. The night of the wedding, Winter is able to escape and makes her way to Mystic Rive / Otter Creek and Colby. Colby takes her in and makes her his 2nd in command.

Sean does everything in his power to find Winter. When he does find her, he see that she is a different woman than when he first met her. He figured because she was his fated mate, she would just willingly come back to Scotland with him. Oh how wrong he was. There is a spark between them, but they are both stubborn! With the Shadow League still after them, will Winter and Sean be able to work together to help figure out who the mole is? And what happens afterwards?

Great story, great characters and I am anxious to read a story on Colby, the man who isn’t as bad as he wants everyone to think he is! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is another Mystic River Shifters series winner! 'Runaway Mate' is the fifth book in the series, and it was a fascinating read. Winter MacKinnon is a pawn between her father's misdeeds and Sean Campbell, Alpha of Curaidh Castle in Scotland. Her father "gave" her to Sean to avoid a serious punishment and she was forced to wed Sean. Right after the wedding, Winter makes her escape and ends up in Mystic River, Alaska and became the beta for Colby, who was introduced in a previous book and is an integral part of this story.

Sean's mindset was that of a dominant male alpha who believed that he could just take his mate home after she left two years prior. He had a lot to learn! Winter is smart, strong, and independent. I really enjoyed reading their story as their relationship deepened, primarily because of Sean's growing awareness that he needed to respect her strengths.

I recommend reading the books in order, since there are aspects from previous books that are integrated into this one, particularly the Shadow League. They are all very well written.

Winter is betrothed to Sean in a typical mafia style story, but she escapes and somehow manages to elude him for 2 years before he tracks her down to Mystic River and goes looking for her with the very intention of dragging her back kicking and screaming. He knows they are fated mates but she is vehemently in denial.

Fortunately for all of them, Colby helps Sean see the error of his ways and they truly fall in love as the plot unfolds and they are forced to spend time together. They fall pretty fast and then quickly find themselves in a routine working with Colby on uncovering more about the Shadow League. There is more drama as Winter finds herself in trouble, but the gang manage to get her out of it just in time.

I liked Winter and Sean, they had fantastic chemistry.

Colby has been making guest appearances in so many books that it's interesting to finally learn more about him now and I feel that the whole Shadow League story is slowly coming together, although there is still more to come!

Sean Campbell is the Alpha of the snow leopards at Curaidh Castle in the Highlands of Scotland. Winter MacKinnon is given to Sean by her father for a life debt and they are wed, and he believes her to be his fated mate and she is having none of it. The Shadow Sisters spirit her away and he hasn’t stopped searching for her for years. His beta and cousin is Hamish. Finally, they find her in Mystic River, Alaska and they go there to get her. However, she has changed a lot since he met her. She is very important to Colby Reynolds and his clowder (group of lynx shifters) at Windsong. I found her to be amazing and totally an inspiration. Sean and Winter’s interactions are funny, steamy, romantic and a bunch of other stuff. Colby is very protective of her, and it just makes me like him more. The book is absolutely awesome and dang can she fight! Woooo. I was impressed and there is so much more to her than at the beginning of the book. I adore her and Sean has a lot to make up for and the good thing is that he has changed too. Hamish is hilarious and I love him. I can’t wait to read the next book.

A Fast Paced Sizzling Read!

Sean Campbell, found his mate, blackmailed her father, married her and in his arrogance lost her before he could claim her.

Winter a Snow Leopard Shifter the same as Sean, didn’t want to marry or mate him, she was her own person and being forced to marry him went against everything she knew, so with help she escaped and made a new life for herself in Mystic River.

Sean had finally caught up with his runaway mate two years after losing her but he had some lessons to learn if he wanted to win and take her home! Winter had learned a lot in the last two years and submitting to someone she had been forced to marry wasn’t one of them!

You’ll just love this sizzling, passionate, steamy storyline. Full on action from the moment they meet again with wonderful characters and as the plot thickens, alliances need to be made for the battle that’s coming.

Another highly recommended read from Delta! The series just keeps getting better and better.

Winter MacKinnon is living at Windsong, on Kodiak Island, Alaska. She is Colby Reynolds' Beta. He leads the Lynx clowder in Mystic River, and is the local criminal element. She is the fated mate of Sean Campbell of Curaidh Castle, in the Scottish Highlands, and ran away when he claimed her against her will. Now a war with the Shadow League is imminent, and all of them are in the cross hairs. Colby is the only one who has seen it brewing, and it will be like no other war before.

This is the fifth book in the Mystic River Shifters series, and it really should be read with the rest in order. Winter is beyond your typical feisty and sassy heroine. She can literally best most men. Sean is a powerful Alpha, but modern, too, and willing to lead with Winter by his side. They are amazing main characters. As the series progresses, I'm looking forward to where Colby will be taken, and how the war with the Shadow League will play out. After all, these characters are going to have to save the world.

Another fabulous book in this series this one had a bit of a different spin. Sean an arrogant alpha in Scotland thought he could just take his fated mate in debt pymt and she's be grateful and accepting. Little did he realize that wasn't gonna happen. With help from shadow sisters winter escapes and spends the next couple of yrs becoming a bad ass fighting warrior machine. He finally tracks her down and gets involved in a whole new side of his mate and a secret war he didn't know existed. Get ready for a deep dive into intrigue, suspense, danger, excitement, drama with a side of lust, compromise, understanding, personal growth and so much more.

Great richly developed characters a real world feel to mystic River Alaska and an enthralling plot that will grab u to the last page. I love the interplay with other characters from other books in each story as well so that it truly feels like a real place in our world we are ready about.

Winter and Sean are fated mates but he tried to force her compliance and she rebelled. The saga Delta James has going about shifters fighting the Shadow League continues to thrill. The intrigue, danger, mystery, and fear the Shadow League is trying to instill is meeting forces like Winter and Sean. I love how Delta is building their world as she builds these relationships. Family, friends, and colleagues working together for a better future is such a great story.

Sean’s focus has been finding Winter after she escaped. While she has trained and become a force to be reckoned with and an integral part of Colby’s clowder. I love how she is so independent, strong, and self aware. Sean shows he’s capable of growth and acceptance of her abilities. Delta does such a great job evoking emotions and illustrating the steamy side of their relationship. Loved it!

I loved this story. I enjoyed how well Delta could grab me and put me into the life of the character. I was so happy that she had Winter grow so strong and independent, but still had her Abe to fallow her path into the world with her fated mate Sean. I also really enjoyed seeing how she felt about seeing Sean again, because she loathed him at the start. Yes they are fated mates, but Winter was so angry at Sean for the way he treated her. Like she was a brainless bimbo who would do nothing and be his. She made Sean show her that he was a good person, and he was only letting his alpha side take over that’s why he didn’t consider her feelings. Actually the few years Winter went away was good for both of them. They each learned to see what really matters in life.

I really am grateful that I got to read about Sean and Winter and hope to read more about them and what they did to the Shadow League in the future.

Sean Campbell was the Alpha of the Campbell Clan, ruling Caraedh Castle in Scotland with an iron fist since his father killed and he had to fight those who would usurp his rule...so when Winter's father was confronted for his actions against Sean, he offered his daughter to save his own hide...but Winter was not inclined to marry the head of the clan despite his being her fated mate. She refused to take vows with Sean, after being dragged to the alter...Sean figured he would tame her on their wedding night...but Winter was able to escape with the assistance of the Shadow Sisters...and now two years later, she is a formidable woman who is beta and spymaster for the lynx shifters of Colby Reynolds in Mystic River Alaska, the second in command at Windsong, the stronghold of Colby's chowder, not a role any other female has held...and Sean found her...but will he be able to drag her back to Scotland???? Very intriguing book. I liked the world building . Edge of your seat action throughout, mystery and of course steam to the romance (eventually) I loved that this wasn't an alpha getting what he wants when he wants type of story.

I loved Winter. She is definitely her own person. Escaping an impossible situation she learns how to fight and becomes a valuable member of another clan. I loved her rank and her ability to "rescue" herself . I also love the way her and Sean seem to learn more about each other and the how they were both wrong about the other person.

Sean is very determined to return his fated mate to Scotland. No matter the cost.

The chemistry between the two becomes more as they learn to work together. and Sean realizes that she is not who he thought she was. Both of them think out side of the box when it comes to the war that will be coming.

Action throughout. A great HEA.

Oh my, what a fabulous book! If you are up to date with the series, you will relish the developments regarding the Shadow Legue. If not, there is enough contained that you won't feel too lost. Roles become more clearly defined, and those Winter had poisoned against Sean during her 2 year hiatus actually find out what type of Alpha he truly is. (I'm not giving away hints...read the book.) Winter, for all her intellect and savey, is full of herself. Not her fault really, Colby had a hand in her inflated ego. Now, I like Winter for the most part (but my heart belongs to Sean). She just tends to make impulsive decisions without having all the information when it concerns personal matters.

Will these two find a way to their HEA - a fated union they can both get behind? Grab your copy of the latest Mystic River Shifters book and find out! I initially read an ARC for this voluntary review, but it's now in my personal library (to re-read and enjoy over and over again).

Happy Reading 📚
