The Grand Canyon has been hiding an explosive secret for over a hundred years. But is the closely-guarded cavern filled with Egyptian artifacts his true target... or is his real objective something far more incredible - something that can only be found in the forbidden archives under the Smithsonian itself? This novella a teaser to be read between The Pharos Objective and The Mongol Objective.

This is a small hors d'oeuvre advert for the series. A short 15-20 minute reading story with an interesting premise and easy flowing prose from the author but a story that rambles all over the place. Packs a lot in the few pages but could have captured much more by just a couple more pages and some deft editing. As I have discovered this book nearly a decade and half after it was first launched, my review is a lot of residual gas not impacting anything. The premise is interesting and I have developed an interest in pursuing the main story from the series, so something has connected with me.
This is the first story I have read of David Sakmyster's and I am really impressed. I enjoyed it. I will most definitely go out and grab the rest of his works! Well done, if it is a short story/novella. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
