Well, that was just stupid. I liked the first part of Colony Z, but the actions and machinations of Owen & Co. are quickly passing from tolerable to stupid. And lots of other things just don't seem to add up for me. There was practically zero zombie action in the first part, so I was looking forward to seeing a real, live zombie in this second part. And when the zombies appear, who do we get? George and Lennie from Of Mice and Men. Really? And Owen has more guilt killing Lennie the Zombie than he does killing Eva's father "the Alpha" and his companion from the first book. WTF? And where the hell do these people start referring to others as Alpha and living in a tribe? And how the hell do the zombies start figuring out how to use explosives, when earlier in the book the author described them as decaying and brain dead and that they only focused on two things - killing and eating flesh. I'm sure igniting explosive devices is right up there with masticating.
Owen is a complete and utter moron. When faced with killing his 3-year-old daughter, who has recently been bit, he ponders how he will appear to his wife, his son, his tribe. Because, you know, keeping up appearances are the important things in life 3 to 4 years after the zombie apocalypse. You know, the one he started, because he's only just now about 20 years old. Owen is an "old soul" apparently. And it must rub off on Michael, the angsty teenager from the first book, who here is a wizened 3-year-old twin to the now dead zombie daughter. Like Pericles from ancient Athens, Michael gives a funeral oration for his twin sister. Because, you know, he's much smarter than the average 3 year old. Granted, it's in simple sentences, but damn, they're good ones. With expressions of guilt and remorse and other complex adult emotions.
I've made it halfway through the series. I will continue through this tripe until it kills me. Or makes me stronger.

Cookie cutter, zombie-horror by numbers tripe. Oh, no, look at all these feelings I'm telling you about instead of showing you. What's that? A telegraphed plot twist? Gad zukes!
Seriously though, I appreciate that this author is trying, they really are, but this is really bad zombie material.

The book is fluffed with the last two stories from the first book. Exact copies
The first story is original and was quite good but the last two stories we used as fluff because they are exact copies from the first book.

Not Sure That This Wasn't Just Another Book I
I wish that book 2 was not just a reiteration of book I. The story line is good. The typist was terrible and I think the proofreader was non-existent. I read pretty fast (total of 3 hours for books 1 and 2), but words in the wrong place and words misspelled that are not in dialogue cause me to mentally stumble and lose my place. I really enjoyed the plot from books 1 and 2, but I am not too sure that I will go onto book 3.

I continue to follow Owen and his tribe of people. I really like this story but don't like Owen very much. I get how he got so hard but I like his kids better and feel sorry for his wife. His son escaped the island and came back so he now knows there are other people out there.

Excellent zombie action! This book picks up where the first one left off, but does a lot less talking, and gives a lot more action. Love it. Can't wait for Vol 3!

I like how the story is unfolding. Owen's character is very interesting to me. Good, easy read and can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Not as good as the first one but still intrigued to keep going. The twists at the end of each story is really good.
