Sticking It

Rate this book
Dear Author,
I know I’m not supposed to be on the equipment after hours, but when my frat brothers dared me to strip down to my skivvies and start scissoring, who was I to say no? We snuck in and now, here I am. We all do dumb shit when it’s just the guys, after all, right? And I mean, clearly they’ve seen me before when I was competing on the college team, but I guess it’s an understatement to say that they’ve never seen me perform in such― ahem― brief attire.

Most of the guys looked uncomfortable, but I noticed one of them looking at me like he had something else in mind. He’s new and kinda one of the more quiet ones among us, so I don’t know much about him. I’ve only just started to realize that I might… well, kinda sorta totally… like guys and not girls. Is it possible he could maybe be… like me?

Librarian note: K. Vale is a pseudonym/pen name for Goodreads author Kimber Vale for her M/M genre books.

Kimber Vale is an avid reader, writer and gardener. She worked as an RN once upon a time, but is currently a stay-at-home mom to three busy hobbits. She is fortunate to have an understanding husband who never refuses to help with her “writing research.” He answers questions like, “What do you think eyeballs taste like?” and, “Does the term ‘Cock-Rockets’ sound more like a joke or an explosively good time?” with equal consideration and without batting an eye.

Kimber enjoys crafting in a number of genres, including both gay (under K. Vale) and straight erotic romance, horror, bizarro, and sci/fi. Dark themes frequently creep their way into her stories, but she loves a good romance and is sure to give her MCs their much-deserved happily-ever-after once she is done abusing them.

Well, it seems that I completely underestimated this one.

It was sweet, cute, and loads of 'sexy gymnast falls for computer nerd' fun.

I'd honestly expected it to be porn, or at least much more porn'ish, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Don't get me wrong, though. The steamy bits will fog up your glasses.

So this one gets 4 *its-raining-blowjobs-and-some-feels* stars.

I was wondering how an author was going to incorporate this picture prompt into the story and have it make sense.
But she did, it really worked and I liked it.
Dane decided long ago to live 'in your face' was the best way to actually keep people out of his face, Adam is the opposite.
He had a bad experience at his last school and he is not making the same mistake twice.
So how are these two very different guys with two very different ways of dealing with things going to make it work?
Well, with Dane being very persistent for one and hopefully with Adam deciding its worth the risk.
This has a very HFN ending, and anybody who knows me, knows what I'm gonna say....come on..say it with me...I wanted more, just a little.
I want to see Adam taking that final step and see him hold his head up and have Dane at his side. And I want to see him cheering for Dane at the Olympics...cause I'm greedy that way.

Too much sex for such a short book. I skipped nearly the entire third (of four) chapter because it was all sex, and the opening chapter even had a bit of it. These guys' connection was all in the looks department. I also didn't buy the way that Dane changed Adam's mind about giving them a try considering Adam was afraid of being outed. And I'm not saying that Olympic hopefuls don't have cheat days and chow down on burgers and fries on occasion, but this guy had nothing resembling a training schedule. 😂

This is a very enjoyable and very sexy take on the jock/geek trope, between a gymnast with a bang in' bod and an Elvis hairstyle ( love the picture prompt! ) and a cute computer nerd. One more out than the other but the attraction is mutual and instant and they succumb to some pretty hot action, in particular a drive through burger meal which leads to an extremely sexy interlude when they park up! A little bit of angst at the end leads to a cute reunion and a positive HFN ending. Entertaining and very likeable. Thank you Kimber.

I entirely enjoyed this super hot but over way too fast read. I'd love to read a lot more about these hotties.

Fun short story. I liked Dane's crazy attempts to win Adam over. I felt the end was a bit abrupt though. I would have liked more closure between them.

I loved this novel. Sticking It by Kimber Vale stars Adam and Dane. Now, Dane is a very talented gymnastic student who meets Adam after a friend tricks him and makes him do a small routine in his underwear. This little incident brings them together as one.

I liked Dane. He was hot and very sexy. He genuinely seemed to be a great guy. Adam was awesome too. He was the nerdy and hot guy that everyone loves. I felt a little sorry for Adam since he went through hell in his previous school because his sexual orientation. Now, he feels guarded and won't let Dane in. I'm glad they managed to work something out and live happily ever after.

The one thing that I didn't like about this novel was the fact that it was just too short. Other than that, the plot was solid and the characters were amazing. I recommend this novel to anyone looking for a short YA little read with lots of sex, love and more sex.

Four stars!
This is a fun little read with super cute characters. Adam is an adorable tech geek while Dane is training for the 2016 Olympics for gymnastics. The event Dane is the best at is the pommel horse. They both are crushing hard but are afraid to come out. The two are so good together and you see them right on the cusp of maybe, possibly, deciding they’re worth it to each other. Then we fast forward to the 2016 Olympics and that part is funny but has you on the edge of your seat to see how Dane does. I won’t spoil whether Dane takes home a medal or not, you just gotta read it to find out. Definitely worth the time because I enjoyed it from start to finish.

A hot gymnast and a nerd. What's not to love? I was looking forward to this as part of the "Love Has No Boundaries" event and I wasn't disappointed. I really enjoyed it and scarfed it down in one sitting. The scene in the McDonalds parking lot was hot, and I loved Dane's bold attitude in wanting to have a relationship with Adam. A fun, sexy, fast read.

The picture was hot and the story was charming, yet the picture truly fit. Dane was over the top fab! I liked he had no angst. I would like to know what happens next with them.

For me, this story was all about Dane. I loved his attitude and projected confidence, even when feeling a bit insecure or having doubts.

Gymnasts just turn me on so Dane had my full attention from the get-go. I fell right into Dane and Adam's flirting game easily. The story worked well despite its shortness.

4.5 STARS

When Dane gets photographed by his frat brothers while doing a gymnastic routine in his underwear, he’s worried that the seemingly harmless joke could affect his Olympic hopes. Flashing his tighty whities while doing a handstand on the horse may seem like nothing, but he can’t risk making a bad impression on any coaches or selectors with Rio only a year away.

Adam is the new guy at the frat house, who Dane has been crazily crushing on ever since he first saw him at a party. When Adam helps Dane make the photo disappear, Dane is even more drawn to the other man. But Adam has experienced what it can mean to be “out and proud” and that’s not something he’s ready to try again. He might be attracted to Dane but attempting to carry on a secret relationship with a frat brother seems scary and impossible.

Firstly, I should note that this story was originally written for a Love Has No Boundaries event. It was only half the length of this expanded edition. So, as we frequently pull our hair and moan that we want those LHNB stories to be longer – here it is. The author delivered, I hope everyone who asked for it buys it. Because honestly, this book is brilliant.

Dane and Adam are perfect together, and not in a fake, make the story easier to write way. The way they interact, both verbally and physically, was absolutely engaging. They didn’t “click together”, they sparked and not just sexually but with well written young guy humor too. However, since I brought up the sexual aspect, wow did these two have crazy chemistry. It wasn’t all sex though, there was also a madly beautiful romantic gesture from Dane as he attempts to woo Adam. But again – wildly romantic yet perfectly gauged to scream college boys.

I wasn’t crazy about the plot jumping forward one year. I felt like the two guys just got together and then they’re a happy couple that has been together for a year. With Adam so worried about the reactions of people finding out that the previously “straight guys” are now gay, I would have liked to watch that play out. If only to see his fears put to rest. But I was so (so, so) excited that we got to see Dane at the Olympics. And not just a brief epilogue but several chapters. I can only assume that this is where the author expanded the story. So often books will mention an event like this, one you really, really want to experience with the character but you are left only imagining what happened next. Well I can assure you that this book doesn’t disappoint in that regard.

Normally I’m not a huge fan of novellas but I’m a sucker for college stories so I couldn’t resist giving this one a read. The fact that I rated a book of this length so highly was a surprise even to me. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with them but at the same time I think the author has to work harder to really impact the reader. This is my first K. Vale experience but I’m eager to check out some more of what she’s written. Definite bonus points for the awesome warning in the front of the book, for referencing bacon during sex and for teaching me about the horrors of dribblage.

Review is for the extended version of this story.

Cute novella - some humour, sexiness, nice MCs, no dramas, and an epilogue...complete with happy ending.

This is a re-released title originally written for MM Goodreads Love Has No Boundaries event. The author has added 7k to this story for publication. I never read the original so to be honest I cannot compare the two stories. But I can say Sticking It by K. Vale is a read that made me smile and couldn’t put the book down. I think K.Vale is turning out to be on my auto buy list because I am falling in love with her work so much.
Dane Christakas: he has confidence, a lot. But being an Olympic gymnast he really has to have some of that cockiness. When the frat brothers dare him to do some gymnastics in his tighty whities, he agrees. Then realizes this could really hurt him later on. But lucky for him the guy he really likes likes him too. Enter in Adam.
Adam: is the new kid. Dane really wants him. Shy geeky, computer genius. He offers to make Dane’s problem go away. With no strings attached. I liked Adam he is sweet, kind, and a little awkward too.
These two are a very unlikely pairing but together they are just perfect. There are lots of moments in this book that make me smile, cheer, and really hot steamy moments too. This is the perfect college romance type of book. I liked the friendship they have too. Makes the romance that much better. When you want a romance that will make you smile this is the one to pick up.

I'm super excited to have this up and scissoring! With my recent foray into the gator pits of self-publishing, I decided I should finally make Dane and Adam's book available for the Amazon diehards. And then I realized I should probably send Dane to the Olympics for the hot-athletes-competing-in-Spandex diehards.

Voilà! So far, my favorite research project to date, no doubt. ;-)

As the blurb states, I've added ~7,000 words of sweaty gymnastics of all sorts to my original GR Love Has No Boundaries story, re-edited it, and wrapped it up pretty. Enjoy!

This story was fun and flirty, with just enough angst to give this story depth.
