A Pixie's Tale

Rate this book
In an attempt to sway human voters - for a totally legitimate cause - Delphie the pixie targets a college neighborhood on Halloween. College students are notoriously liberal anyway, and the neighborhood is a human-only zone. She shouldn't run into any other supernaturals to interfere with her important mission.

But instead of drunken students, she mistakenly bespells a mysterious, sexy fellow supernatural who doesn't appreciate the fact her defective fairy dust turns him invisible. In retaliation, he curses her, too. She almost escapes, but he’s determined to enact the cure - a taste of her delicious blood, blood that may also give him a yen for her dainty body.

If only Delphie can resist her yen for his body, too, she might just survive the craziest night of her life.

This was a pretty good freebie. I wouldn't mind reading this again or reading more in this world. I liked the characters and the chase, as well as the story line. I was turning pages pretty fast too. There were emotions (mostly exasperation), chasing, ignorance (that wouldn't be fixed), tempers, some suspense, a little action, plenty of humor, and a good HEA. I wouldn't mind reading Stride's story. That'd be a good one. I liked the names too. Funny...! Definitely worth the money I spent...ha ha...but a really great steal, I mean deal. :) This was longer than a one-sitter but not as long as a novel so I'd say more of a comfy-sitter book (get comfy and read in one extended sitting) and fun to read. Enjoy!

My first impression was that this was a cute story with funny inner monologue by Delphie. By the time she and the hero are fighting off "bad guys", I decided she may be TSTL. It's hard to give a full review without spoilers, but I'll try. Delphie's nearly manic swings between TSTL and "almost a genius" (according to some tests) moments were utterly infuriating. Then there was the hero's secret mission which was wholly unbelievable. I was left wondering why certain characters didn't know about the secret mission, how he accomplished his goal, and what in this world is "quenching". Too many big questions at the end of a very short tale.

I'm not going to "rate" this book because I helped write & edit it, but I did want to make available the full list of author participants! It started out as a round robin and turned into a novella. The authors are: Angela Campbell, Cindy Spencer Pape, Jax Garren, Janni Nell, Jody Wallace, Nicole Luiken, PG Forte, Rebecca York, RL Naquin, & Veronica Scott

Definitely different. Collaboration by authors to write a short story/novella. Characters are a bit shallow but it's really not meant to be taken seriously.

This was a fun story. A little disjointed at times, but quirky enough to be enjoyable.
