Elias and Merrin are on the run.

After escaping the Biotech Hub, they thought they could breathe easy, or at least a little easier. But when bombs slam into the Social Welfare Hub only hours after their arrival, it becomes clear there's nowhere to hide - and no end to what Biotech will do to get them back.

Their last chance for safety and answers is the Clandestine Service Hub. CS has intel on the real, broader purpose behind Fisk’s experiments , and the newfound knowledge of the horrors hidden deep within Biotech’s walls sends Merrin back to recover a secret formula that could ruin the Supers’ world forever—and might just save the lives of the Biotech victims spiraling out of control.

Elias' sisters are counted among the victims of Fisk’s experiments, and if Elias can't find and help them, their powers will destroy them--sooner rather than later. Returning to the place it all began terrifies him, but with Fisk ready to make an example out of Merrin, and his sisters’ lives --and the lives of all Supers--hanging in the balance, he might not have a choice. If he can't find the courage to face his worst fears, Elias might lose more than his newfound powers.

He might lose everyone he loves.

Raised on comic books and classic novels, Leigh Ann developed an early love of science fiction and literature. As an adult, she rediscovered her love for not only reading, but also writing the types of fiction that enchanted her as a teen. Her debut novel, ONE, is about a girl with only half a superpower, the boy who makes her fly, and her struggle to make herself whole.

Leigh Ann, her husband, and four children live in Columbus, Ohio. When she’s not immersed in the world of fiction, you can find her obsessing over the latest superhero movie or using her kids as an excuse to go out for ice cream (again.)

A copy of this novel was provided by the author for review + purchased.

I remember reading a guest post or some other post from Kopans talking about how she had never felt more connected to a character as she was to Elias in Two. I remember thinking that it’s awesome when authors can really feel their characters, rather than just writing about them. When reading Two, I understand what she meant now.

Two felt like reading about a person called Elias, who was on the run from an evil company who wanted him and his girlfriend. Like he was real. And I guess that’s what Kopans meant when she said that she felt connected to him. I think she tapped into something really special here, and that made Two itself incredibly special. I loved the feeling I had as I was reading this book.

Switching from Merrin’s point of view in One to Elias’s in Two was great. I liked Merrin, but Elias was my favourite character in One, so I was really excited about reading from his perspective. And Two lived up to its expectations. I loved reading Elias’s thoughts. They were so different to Merrin’s. Elias isn’t obsessed with being a One, he isn’t obsessed with flying. He loves Merrin as she is, and he loves flying with Merrin. Reading about Elias’s feelings for Merrin took away all the misgivings I may have had regarding their quick moving love in One. He is so protective and caring of her, it’s incredibly sweet.

Elias and Merrin’s relationship isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. They fight. Quite a bit. And I really liked that. I am kind of sick of reading about these relationships that are practically perfect in every way; partners who think the other can do no wrong – you know what I am talking about, I’m sure. The imperfection of Elias and Merrin together made their relationship more believable, and more enjoyable to read about.

Two was by no means a fast moving novel. There was a lot of internal monologue from our boy Elias; from how much he loves Merrin, to how scared he is for his sisters, to his musings about what his future will be like. A large portion of the novel was Elias and Merrin finding a place in another Hub, and Merrin being obsessed with making herself a Super. I didn’t mind this slow pace. I actually really enjoyed it. I think most of you know by now that a lot of my favourite books are the ones that take the time to explain things and explore things in great detail. Two was exactly like this. Yes, there could have been more of an overarching storyline to the novel, but I was pleased with the one we were given.

I am still a fan of how unique this story is; I really like the whole premise of it. I am a little sad that the One Universe series has now come to a close. I think it would be interesting to learn about what Elias and Merrin do with their powers as they grow up. Do they stay with Clandestine Services? Do they become ‘superheroes’? Do they live happily ever after and live in the country like Elias always wanted? I would love to know.

The reveal about how the Supers came to be was pretty radical – radically awesome. I had always thought the explanation given in One was kind of not all that explanatory. But now I know the real history; it’s pretty darn cool.

Overall, I thought that Two was a great sequel to One, and a great ending to the One Universe series.

Complete review available at Meredith’s Musings.

GAH! I think that was my first word when I finished this book. Or maybe it was AHHHHH! This book was just book is just OMG amazing. The best part? We experience it all through Elias! ACK! I could seriously live in Elias’s head…all the time. Love you Elias!

So, I had the worst time trying to write this review. I don't want to give anything away because this book is so intense you need to experience every single moment. There are so many things I want to EEEEEEEEPPPPP about! But I'm going to do my best to tell you why I loved this book without giving away any secrets.

I’ve been waiting for this book since the moment I finished ONE. I HAD to know what happened to Elias and Merrin. Where did they go? Were they safe? What really happened to Fisk? Will Elias or Merrin ever be more than a one? So may unanswered questions. Well, let me tell you.....ALL of these questions are answered! TWO is amazing and everything I hoped it would be (and then some). When I finally finished it felt like I ate an entire tub of ice cream and chased it with a half pound bag of M&Ms. I was so worked up from all of the action and suspense it was like the biggest sugar rush ever. If you love superheroes, you will totally fall for TWO!

Elias and Merrin lovers get ready! You will experience a whole new side of this sweet love story. Seeing things from Elias's POV is a huge treat. There were times I wanted to strangle Merrin for causing my adorable Wonder-Boy so much stress and fear. But then I remembered that Merrin is strong, fierce, and incredibly determined. She loves Elias with all of her heart, but to stay safe would not be true to who she is. Elias fell in love with the “in the action” Merrin, not a girl who stays behind and hidden in the corner. Watching Elias struggle with Merrin’s decisions is heart wrenching. But these two are meant for each other. They have to work it out….they just have too!!

The journey these two take is wild, crazy, and full of surprises. They will learn quickly they aren't safe anywhere and that the secrets at the Biotech Hub run so much deeper than they ever imagined. The action in this story is heart-pounding and the suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat.

We see some of our favorites from the first book. Leni and Daniel are back in all their glory, Elias’s wonder-twin sisters (Nora and Lia) are still trying to get a grip on all of their power, and even Merrin’s parents and brothers stop in to help. The reunions are fantastic.

We get to meet some pretty amazing new characters as well. Hayley, Click, Gallagher, and Vera are all amazing Supers with awesome powers. I won’t tell you what they can do, but Hayley is full of snarky charm, and Vera is full of geeky-goodness. I hope we see more of Click in the future, and Gallagher is a save the day kind of guy. They all add to the excitement of the story and help our fabulous duo uncover the truth behind the intentions of the Biotech Hub (which are CRAZY). I even enjoyed (and want my own personal) Kara. Seriously, where's my Kara?

Without being too spoilery, here are some of my favorite tidbits: Powers, limbs, and virginity are lost. Powers and allies are gained. Secret missions and uncontrollable powers could be deadly for some. While secret missions and new powers could turn others into really super Supers.

I LOVED TWO! It's got it all: romance, action, suspense, mystery, secrets, and amazing super powers. What more could you want? I'm ready to throw on my cape and go supersonic!

After finishing ONE, the debut for LeighAnn Kopans and finding out that there was gonna be a sequel (there had to, with that ending!), I was extremely impatient to get to read it and when the author gave me the chance to get an ARC I jumped at it! I got the ARC in exchange for an honest review and my opinion is my own.

TWO is the sequel that takes up right where ONE left us, and even though I'm gonna try my best to avoid spoilers for the book, I don't think I can avoid spoilers for ONE.

Where ONE was told from Merrin's perspective, TWO is told from Elias' and that took a little while for to get used to. His perspective is so different from Merrin's and I was quite used to being in Merrin's head, but seeing how the story progresses it had to be told from Elias' perspective.

The Biotech Hub was severly once Merrin rescued Elias, his sisters and her own brothers with the help of her parents. Merrin and Elias are on the run, trying to find a safe place to hide and find some answers to all the questions the information they got at Biotech prompted. They know their best bets are the other Hubs cause Supers, not even Ones, aren't entirely welcome amongst the general population. Social Welfare Hub is their first pit stop but it's clear that they're not safe from Biotech there so they fly to their best option: the Clandestine Service Hub or CSH (or the Supers CIA equivalent).

Elias is more damaged and rattled from the experience in Biotech's lab and all the revelations they had to face there than he even wants to acknowledge and that is the major motivation of how he deals with their immediate present and future. He's so worried about everyone's safety, Merrin's and his sisters' most of all, and he seems to carry the world on his shoulders, always worrying about how to keep everyone safe while Merrin keeps on trying to find answers and solutions.

The relationship between Merrin and Elias does take a bit of a toll due to their different focus and Elias keeps on having some insecurities about what Merrin's feelings really are and what their different outlooks might mean for their relationship, which are very real concerns and a way to keep both their characters and the relationship itself growing and changing.

We get some old friends back, like Leni and Daniel, and they also make some new friends with different Supers that make Merrin want to learn and push more and that get Elias to worry even more.

There are plenty of twists and turns in the plot, with some quite unexpected surprises thrown for good measure. There's a fight against time and a daring rescue again, and despite his wish for staying safe, Elias has the key to save everyone if he decides that risks are worth taking.

A fantastic sequel that closes the series but that could leave some openings for spin off stories, that I do hope the author will take, cause I'd love to read more about the ONE & TWO universe!

Very well deserved 4 and a half stars!

This was exponentially better than ONE, and I liked ONE!

This book is from Elias' point of view rather than Merrin's. I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but it worked really well. Elias is the kid of guy we all dream about - thoughtful caring, and nice. You get to really see that personality when you're inside his head. His actions in ONE suddenly make more sense.

Elias and Merrin end up at the Clandestine Services Hub where they hook up with a kick-butt team of supers to take care of the out of control Bio Hub once and for all. And do they!

It turns out the Bio Hub has a world changing plan that puts them firmly in control of all the supers. Only the CSH stands in their way and the clock is ticking. Add to it that Merrin is captured and experimented on and Elias is the only person capable of finding her.

ONE was mostly about personal growth, but TWO is mostly action. I ended ONE with a lot of questions, questions I really didn't think could be answered in the next book. I was wrong. Everything fleshed out beautifully.

The return of the world’s sweetest superpowered couple. This sequel to ONE, Leigh Ann Kopans’ debut YA sci-fi romance, picks up exactly where the first book left off—and catapults our heroes straight into a strange new life with a host of fresh challenges. A great second installment with a perfectly calibrated ending.

RATING: 0/10

I genuinely tried to finish this damn book. I genuinely did. After the realisation hit me that "sis this book is a waste of paper", I powered through 80 more pages until I gave up.

Good lord, this was a BAD book.

Firstly before I begin my review, I would like to apologise to my hands, for holding this sorry excuse of a novel. Next, my apologies go to my brain, that had to process every cringeworthy sentence. Lastly, I offer sincere condolences to my eyes, you guys had to look at that shit for 2 days. I'm sorry.

Let me begin:

1. This book is all about superpowers. Evil corporations. Secret cures. Hidden laboratories. What did we get? A whiny ass boy with no backbone who's OBSESSED with his girlfriend. Get your damn act together and stop wasting everyone's time.

2. STOP THE PDA. We DO NOT need 3 pages of your stormy blue eyes or the soft curve of her waist or the smell of her damn shampoo. It was so irrelevant I felt bad for the tree that died for it.

3. The plot moved slower than a dead snail... wait... dead snails don't move.... WELL NEITHER DID THE PLOT. Sat through ~100 pages of bullshit kissing scenes and MULTIPLE declarations of love. This is a joke.

4. I'm guessing this is some dystopian wannabe novel. But NOTHING DRASTICALLY BAD HAPPENED. The dumbass main characters were welcomed to safe houses with warm beds and ice water. HELLO? Where is the betrayal? The risk? The fight?

5. I'm mentioning the PDA again. If the author could do it 6 times in 1 chapter, I'mma do it 2 times in 1 review. Sue me.

6. TOO MUCH TALKING. Some of the conversations were actually so stupidly irrelevant that it made me laugh.
"The food is good." "Yeah!", I said, taking another bite of mashed potato.
TELL ME. Unless that mashed potato is radioactive or has a tracking device, I DONT WANNA HEAR ABOUT IT. I wanna hear about your scientific developments. Not the damn meal u been eating.

7. Not enough bad people. Y'all busted up a whole ass laboratory and there's an IPB out for yalls asses but everyone's like hey sis ~ welcome to our safe house!!1!1!2 y'all want a chai latte? Okay see you guys later, manicure sesh at 6pm! What kinda bullshit ass book??? HAS??? ONE????? BAD??? GUY???? ONLY?????????,????,,? YALL BURNT DOWN A LAB, SOMEONE ARREST THESE BITCHES HELLO.

8. Whiny ass boyfriend cannot leave his girlfriend alone, confesses his unconditional and undying love for her in every single damn sentence like ya we get it u horny lol.

This gets 1 star but trust me, I wish I could have given it 0.

Two by LeighAnn Kopans is the second book (see what she did there!) in the One Universe series and continues the story of Merrin and Elias’ trying to figure out what the hell is going on in the Super powers world, but this time from Elias’ perspective :D. Two is indie published and does have some problems with typos that another round of editing would fix, but if you don’t mind those, Two is a very enjoyable sequel to One. There is more adorable teen romance and lots more super powers to be discovered!
Note: I received Two from the author through a blog tour in exchange for an honest review.

How I got my copy: Author

Strengths:
Two is fast-paced and action-packed. Right from the beginning, Merrin and Elias find out with no questions just how much trouble they are now in. Two opens with them flying across the country to find a safe place to stay and there is a fair amount of that throughout the book (as well as other forms of travel with superpowers >.> :D)
Because Elias and Merrin travel much more in Two, we get to see a lot more of the world that the Supers inhabit. We find out that Elias and Merrin were pretty sheltered growing up in the middle of Nebraska (no, really??) and that the country has a rather complicated relationship with super powers. Remember how there are other hubs besides the biotech hub? We get to see some of them :D.
Because Merrin and Elias figured out that they liked each other in One, Two has the benefit of a nice established romance. There are cute moments and there are the typical difficult moments found in all real relationships (yey for difficulties being reflected in teen relationships!). Certain other adorable couples that finally got together in One also make an appearance ;-).
In Two, our dynamic duo also get to meet lots of new people with super powers so we get to find out about all of those awesome powers. This made my inner superhero dork extremely happy ;-). Also there are X-Men jokes and references, woot!
Two does a good job of bringing in a few new secondary characters for us to get to know and brings back some old faces. One had a lot of focus on Merrin and Elias as they got to know each other, so it was fun to get to know some of these secondary characters a bit better.
Two has a solid plot of its own, successfully escaping second book syndrome! It is clear from the beginning that Elias and Merrin have some problems that they need to figure out and then they spend the book doing just that. I was quite happy with the conclusion of Two and am curious if there is going to be a Three >.>.

Weaknesses:
There were times when I had no idea where a reaction came from with Elias or Merrin. It just felt at times that they’re personalities got inconsistent in order to further the plot. It also took me a while to adjust to Elias’ being the narrator and I actually forgot a few times at the beginning of Two, which indicates to me that Elias wasn’t different enough from Merrin at first in his narration.
Two has a fair number of typos in its final copy. I’m okay with a slip-up here and there, but I expect indies to have the same quality of editing as traditionally published books and Two just didn’t quite make it. I really think that with another round of copyediting, Two could be awesome, but the typos were jarring enough that I had to go back to figure out what the sentence was supposed to say.
I’m a stickler about rules for magic systems, especially in sci-fi. The rules for powers never really get tacked down and by now, I feel they should be fairly consistent. Between transference and the crazy experiments, the powers were confusing enough. However, the premise of One talks about Supers having only two powers that generally combine in a convenient way and Two introduced a fair number of regular Supers that seemed to not fit this rule. I spent half of Two trying to figure out if I was just being dense and missing how things fit together, but that’s not really a good sign either (if you figured it out, please tell me!).
I’m a grad student studying biology and computer science (curious how those fit together, feel free to ask ;-) ) and I eventually accepted that I needed to just take off my scientist hat while reading Two. Generally, I’m okay with letting sci-fi books have some slack, there is fiction in the genre title after all. However, Two made my genetics and computer scientist brains hurt badly until I finally gave up trying to figure out how the things described could possibly happen in the future.

Summary:
Two is a solid sequel with a fun, action-packed plot and an adorable and realistic teen romance. If you enjoyed One, you should definitely pick up Two. If you’re a reader who can’t take typos in their books, then Two probably isn’t the superhero book for you at this time. I’m still very much in love with the idea of Super powers being made up of several separate powers and some people only having one of the necessary powers, so I’m excited to see where Kopans goes with the One Universe series next.

I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing Leigh Ann's One earlier this year for the blog tour hosted by InkSlingerPR. And I absolutely adored it! Leigh Ann did an amazing job of creating unique, likeable characters and after I finished, I wasn't ready to let them go! When I found out she was writing a companion novel that would be from Elias's POV, I think I freaked out. No, really.

Elias is the beautiful, kind, caring boy who took a chance on befriending the new girl at school and refused to give up on her, even after she pushed him away. Watching him break down those barriers she had constructed and get her to open up to him was one of my favorite aspects of the novel. Oh, yeah the superpowers? Also VERY cool! :D Sometimes having superpowers in books can be cheesy, but not here!

Two picks up right where One left off. After rescuing Elias from the corrupt President Fisk at Biotech Hub and uncovering the truth about what his true purpose was, Elias and Merrin are now on the run. They are in possession of formulas taken from the Hub and now need help deciphering their true nature. Their first instinct is to head to one of the other Hubs and hope they can provide sanctuary for them. After a close call at the Social Welfare Hub, the two make their way to the Clandestine Service Hub located close to the CIA in D.C. They are hoping President Masters can help them and not manipulate them. Having to question every person's motives is frustrating for Elias and Merrin. Too many people have failed them in the past and Elias does not want to take any chances. His sisters are in danger, Merrin is as stubborn as ever and more often than not, doesn't stop to listen to reason.

I loved Elias's voice in this novel. He is practical, but he is also a worrier. He is anxious to find out information about his sisters and is wary of his surroundings. I like that Elias is cautious and careful- it matches his personality perfectly. He has never minded being a One, someone with only one superpower, versus a Super, someone who has two. Elias craves stability and wants to live a normal life- he could do without his power and would be fine. Merrin, on the other hand, has never felt whole without being a Super. Her dream is to fly solo, and she is determined to find out what those formulas can do that she took from Biotech. I'll be honest- Merrin drove me a little crazy in this book. Her determination borders on recklessness and Elias isn't afraid to call her out on it. We really see the couple's relationship tested in this novel. Elias wants Merrin to think through her actions and decide if she's doing what's best all around. Merrin has always been a fierce, determined character and we really see that in this book. She is hurt that Elias doesn't seem to understand her- she knows he loves her, but she can't just settle for being Normal. That was never Merrin's way.

Even though there is tension between Merrin and Elias, there are SO many sweet moments in this book! You can really tell how much these two love each other and the lengths they would go to for one another. Even when Merrin is acting hot-headed and Elias seems too passive- the two complement each other so incredibly well. Leigh Ann could have taken their relationship in such a different direction, but I'm glad these two stayed unified, despite their differences.

For Leni and Daniel fans- never fear! They are back and better than ever! I loved seeing their friendship with Merrin and Elias and how they will stick together no matter what. We also get a few new characters- Hayley, Vera, and Gallagher being my favorites. Hayley is another Super they met while at the Social Welfare Hub, who joins them at the Clandestine Hub. She has the power to manipulate the elements and watching her create a storm is awesome! Vera and Gallagher both work at the CSH and end up playing a big role in helping Elias and Merrin.

This book is filled with action, romance, mystery, and I couldn't stop reading! Biotech Hub may have been destroyed but the threat is far from over- in fact, the fate of all Supers and Ones hangs in the balance and its up to Elias, Merrin, and crew to put a stop to the evil forces at work. Yeah, easier said than done. To find out what happens- you just need to read the book!

*Received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

3.5 stars.

The One Universe series is definitely one that got my attention. Two picks up where One left off but this time the story is told from Elias’ perspective. I enjoyed the continuation of the series and thought Kopans did a great job of wrapping up this series. There is definitely a lot of action and we get to learn a lot more about what Fisk’s plans were. On top of all of that, Merrin and Elias are trying to balance the differences in how they feel about their superpowers with their love for each other.

Elias and Merrin are officially on the run. They have escaped the Biotech Hub with the help of his sisters and ultimately end up at the Clandestine Services Hub. While at CS, they are able to not only explore more about who they are together but also who they are separated. Throughout the course of this book, it is clear that Merrin really wants to fly and be something more and Elias just wants to be normal. Getting Elias’ perspective made me a bit annoyed with Merrin – mostly because I could see how much it hurt him to see her struggle and at times make him feel like he wasn’t enough for her.

"She always wants to be more extraordinary, and I’m always content for us to be ourselves."

That line just said it all for me. Elias is still swoony and all he really needs to be happy is to be with Merrin but he knows what is important to her and what will make her happy. Because flying is everything to her, he does whatever he can to help her realize that goal.

As the story progresses, we find out more about what was really going on at the Biotech Hub and what truly happened to Elias’ sisters. Due to all of the testing he put them through, they are having some horrible side effects and creating a lot of issues as they are tearing around the world. Inadvertently they are creating an opening for Fisk to move forward with the plans he has been keeping under wraps.

Turns out Fisk has been plotting against all the other supers and he isn’t above using Merrin to test them out. When she decides to go on a mission with one of the new characters, Gallagher, and gets caught, he has the perfect chance to do it. I won’t give anything away here but what he does to Merrin has a major impact on her and what she sees as her future.
If you enjoyed book one of this series you will definitely want to check book two out to find out what happens to these characters and the hubs. If you haven’t started this series yet, go get it and start it…you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you to the author for providing a copy for review.

Two is the second book in the One Universe series. This review will contain spoilers about the first book.

I did not like Elias as a narrator. That’s really what put me off from really enjoying this book as much as I did the first one. He is not as strong of a character as Merrin. He had a weak personality and a weak voice.

After the two have escaped the Biotech Hub (by pretty much blowing half of it up). They fly to the safest Hub they can think of, The Social Welfare Hub (hippies and do-gooders). That lasts about a day, so they run (fly) away again to the Clandestine Service Hub (CSH), which is like the CIA.

Once at the CSH, they reunite with Leni and Daniel, their friends that escaped Biotech with them. They are going to be trained to use their powers to the best of the limited ability and work for the Hub.
Slowly they uncover secrets about Biotech and its experiments. One involves Elias’s twin sisters, whom Biotech experimented on a lot. They now how so much power that it’s destroying them and they are causing destruction everywhere they go.

The second secret is that Biotech has created a cure for all Supers. And they plan on dispersing it across America, unannounced. Merrin of course wants to save the day AND figure out a way to make herself a full Super. Elias just cares about saving his sisters and keeping Merrin from harm.

Elias constantly makes Merrin feel bad about her lifelong desire to become a full Super and her need to science! at every moment she gets. He wavers between worrying and being a hormonal teenage boy. Which is all well and good and I guess normal if a boy was in the same situation; however Merrin constantly has to explain her reasoning to Elias. While he has never cared much about his One, Merrin’s lifelong dream has been to figure out a way to become a Super and she’s not willing to give up that dream for a boy, even if it means risking her life. Elias is happy with not being able to fly unless Merrin is helping him, and doesn’t want to change.

Somehow (and I don’t quite understand the science but it is part of what makes Merrin and Elias so special to Biotech) Elias’s sisters transfer indestructibility to Elias which he can transfer to Merrin. He also picks up another Super that is never quite explained. Elias turns into a Professor X type character, where he can hear/see Supers around the world and also hears their voices. I liked some of the similarities between this series and X-Men but I felt this was a little too close. He even had a special room to go into.

Overall it was not that bad of a book, I just prefer the first book.

Two is … well, book two in the One Universe and it picks up shortly after book one leaves us.

Elias and Merrin are on the run, they’re looking for someplace safe where they can regroup and hopefully get some answers. They find themselves at the Social Welfare Hub but not for long. Fisk is determined to get the formulas… and Merrin back.

A bomb sends them on the run again and has them at the Clandestine Services Hub where President Masters is more than happy to help them.
But everything isn’t as it seems and when Merrin uncovers some of Fisk’s bigger plans, she finds herself heading back to Biotech to recover something that could change the lives of Super’s everywhere.
Add to all that the stress that Elias is feeling over his sisters. He’s determined to find and help them before their powers destroy what’s left of them

I was really excited to read this and Kopans certainly didn’t disappoint. The journey these characters go on is intense and action packed and what a roller-coaster ride. If you loved Elias and Merrin in book 1, you’re going to be so happy with the path their story is on. Plus, Elias’s point of view is full of win and getting the opportunity to get a deeper feel for the emotions he has and the feelings he has for Merrin was perfection. The struggle he has with simply wanting to live a normal life had me wanting to clasp him to my chest and hide him away forever. But normal is just not on the agenda for these kids.

I’ll be honest, there were times I wanted to shake Merrin, she was so focused on the desire to enhance her one, (which I get) that she often times put everyone else on the backburner. I wanted her to be more concerned about the twins and more concerned about her relationship with Elias.

In addition to our main characters we get Leni and Daniel of course, but we are introduced to some amazing new secondary characters which I’m incredibly excited to get to know more about. From Hayley to Click to Gallagher and Vera as well as President Masters… they all jumped off the page for me and just add to the wonderful plot. Kopans also feeds my geeky side with all her characters and I love it.

I can’t really get into many of the details of the story without potentially spoiling things… but I will tell you this. Kopans weaves tons of action with elements of mystery, and suspense, as well as first love and romance into this amazing series. If you haven’t started it yet, go now and get these books. You’ll thank me later!

Merrin and Elias are on the run and they’re being hunted. They’re looking for a safe place that will give them the opportunity to figure out what’s going on in their lives…what the Biotech Hub was trying to do to them and others and what they should do next. As you can imagine, this story is filled with twists and turns and unexpected situations. But, at the same time, it focuses on relationships and the importance of family and friends, making it a well-rounded book.

This is one of those books that’s tough to review without giving away anything. So much happens in this story that I’d love to tell you more than I’m about to…but, I think you should read this series for yourselves, so I’m going to do my best not to spoil it for you.

The first book, One, was in Merrin’s point of view so I was surprised to have this part of the story be told in Elias’ voice. However, it is a great change – one that provided a different point of view and a new understanding of the situation. Plus, we get to know more about Elias which is a good thing. Seeing this world from his point of view explains some of his actions in the first book…we’re able to understand his emotions and intentions and it helps us realize that everything that’s happened has affected him very deeply. Elias is a good person through and through and all he wants is to protect his family and Merrin…and to live a simple quiet life. I’m not sure I understood that fully in the first book but it’s crystal clear here.

Merrin, on the other hand, is more focused on finding the solutions to their problems and, of course, super powers. This causes our boy Elias some stress and adds some angst in their relationship making it feel more realistic, even in this fantasy story. Some of the secondary characters from the first book find themselves hooked up with Elias and Merrin again and help our heroes try to solve these mysteries and battle the bad guys. Also, a few new characters with amazing super powers are added. My favorite is probably Hayley who is snarky and sassy and smart.

This is the type of story that keeps you on your toes, provides you with characters that you grow to care about and gives you bad guys who are truly bad. It’ll keep you reading and, with so may great secondary characters to like, you’ll enjoy exploring this great and creative world!

Gah, this book!

When I read ONE I really liked Merrin, I wanted her to succeed and was somewhat irritated by Elias's lack of drive and cautious behaviour. In TWO we get the story from Elias's perspective. At first, I struggled with it. I was still a little annoyed by him from ONE and all I really wanted was to hang out in Merrin's head but then something happened. I started to like Elias, and not just like him but agree with him. Merrin started to annoy me, especially how blind she was to the possible consequences of her actions, which seemed entirely selfish and self-serving. The character I'd grown so attached to in book one was my least favourite in book two.

TWO takes a little while to get going but once it did, I couldn't put it down. The new characters introduced are fantastic - especially Hayley - and I really, really enjoyed the shifting dynamics between the old and new friends.

In ONE, Merrin is the narrator and we got a lot of detail about how the science worked. In TWO, Elias narrates and he couldn't care less most of the time how things work. While this was true to character, I was left with some pretty big questions about the how of some major plot points and would've loved a little more of the science coming through, like Merrin sitting Elias down to tell him what's cutting so the readers aren't left in the dark.

The last 20% of the book had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put it. Seriously, I stayed in bed til after 1PM today to finish it. However, the ending left me a little annoyed.

Overall, a great book and dare I say even better than ONE. I recommend this for fans of super hero stories, comics and science fiction with a bit of a paranormal twist.

I absolutely loved One when I read it, and really wanted to make a start on Two, but review books took over and I never got the chance. Christmas week I decided to take a few days off 'review books' and read my own waiting to be read books. There was no doubt whatsoever that I was going to read Two, I HAD to know what happens to Merrin and Elias.

Two is told from Elias's point of view, and within the first chapter I wanted to pick him up and snuggle him, wanting to make it all better for him, my heart broke at seeing how he felt about what had happened in One, worrying about his sisters, worrying about Merrin and scared that he would lose her. While Merrin loves to fly, Elias just wants a normal life, using his power if he has to, and only to help. But knowing how much Merrin loves to fly cause a lot of conflicting emotions and thoughts to cross his mind, wanting Merrin happy and being able to keep her isn't nessesary the same life Elias had mapped out for himself.

I thought reading One that it couldn't get better than that, but after reading Two I am proved wrong. I absolutely loved Two, even more than One. While I do still love the characters, I will admit to adding Hayley into the small group characters I love.

Two took me on one bad ass adventure and I really did not want it to end. From the moment I started reading I was on the edge of my seat, worried that Elias and Merrin would get caught, then as they go from bad to worse, then slightly better I began to relax, and just as soon as I thought everything was ok Leigh Ann threw a spanner into the works, and once again I was on the edge of my seat, worried over what would happen to the gang, worried over new people I had just met, and wondering how the hell they were going to get out of things is one alive.

I demolished Two in a few hours, I even ignored watching Harry Potter, I could not stop reading. I know Two is the last book in this series so far, but if another book was released for this world I would not hesitate in picking up.

Last year, I read and reviewed One, the first installment in the One Universe series. Though I'm not all that familiar with the superhero genre, I thought One was well-constructed and imaginative. I didn't enjoy Two quite as much, finding a few of the flaws I often see in second books (in my reading notes, I compared the plot to that of Insurgent, which might be a huge plus to some readers!) but I remain a fan of this author and this series!

As Two begins, Merrin and Elias are on the run. Well, technically, they're in the air. (In the first book, they discover that while they don't have superpowers, together they can combine their powers to fly.) The first part of the book, in which Merrin and Elias visit different "hubs," definitely dragged for me, and did bring to mind Tris and Four's tours around the factions. In both books, this wandering around felt like world building filler, rather than the natural integration of world building into the story. As in Insurgent, there was also relationship squabbling in Two. Elias wants to help his sisters, while Merrin is a little absorbed in exploring her new powers. I loved the POV switch, which gave the story a whole different feel.

When Elias and Merrin finally settle into the Biotech Hub, things get considerably more interesting. There are some great secondary characters -- Hayley, Vera, Gallagher, and President Masters were excellent additions to the cast. The action also really ramped up at the end and had me flipping the pages.

If you love superhero stories with lots of action and romance, don't hesitate to give One and Two a try!

Maybe it was life throwing me a curve ball but I struggled with this one. It just didn’t hold my attention like the first book. But the constant pining for “normal” that Elias did just got annoying, quick. Then I realized that Merrin’s pining for being Super was all throughout the first book. Maybe it was because it was the first book and it was all about Merrin trying to be Super that I overlooked it. Something about Elias’ constant desire to normal when the “story” seems more important just irritated me. It kind of reminded me of Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix where Harry was just a whiny brat the whole way through. I wanted to chuck that book too. :) But I powered through both and am glad for it…for knowing the story.

Another thing that I didn’t enjoy was his constant want to touch. I like hints, not in-your-face. romance. But that’s just me. I’m not normally a “romance novel” reader. I wanted to read the story, not the love affair. :) But, I imagine that’s what classifies it as Young Adult, right?

Anyway, the overall story was amazing. Once I got past the first half of the book and I could skim the parts that disinterested me, which were getting fewer and fewer in between, I really got into it and enjoyed the rest of the story. I love the sci-tech of it all. And when you cut out all the “I want to be normal”, the “But I want to be more”, and the touchy-feelies going on, the story flew by. I craved to know what happened and so I continued until the end. All in all, I did enjoy it, despite the slow start.

I recently raved over the first book in this series, One. Fortunately I didn't discover it until just a few weeks before the release of the second book in this series, Two, as I wouldn't have been very patient if I had to wait. Two was a rarity in the world of sequels as it did not let me down, and it did not fall victim to the dreaded "sophomore slump".

The story begins right where One left us hanging. Using their powers together, Merrin and Elias fly at supersonic speed to another Hub where they hope to find safety. Merrin spends the majority of the book still hell bent on finding a way to make her "one" a super, irritating Elias in the process as he's ready to do whatever it takes to keep them safe, even if that means losing their powers completely. I loved the addition of the new characters in the mix, Hayley being my favorite.

It was refreshing to hear the story in Elias's voice. He definitely has other intentions than Merrin, and it was fun to hear some of the thoughts that went through his head when they first met. It was also refreshing that Elias and Merrin weren't separated for nearly the entire book like sequels often do.

To avoid spoilers, I feel like I can't say much more without giving too much away. Anyone who enjoyed the first book in this series will be equally pleased with Two. Leigh Ann is able to keep you on your toes throughout, wondering if Merrin and Elias will be caught, and worrying that they may be trusting the wrong people.

As much I enjoyed the first book, I couldn’t wait to continue this series. The first book ends at an exciting scene and I wanted to find out what Elias and Merrin would do next. However, I just couldn’t click with this book as I did with the first one. I don’t know if my reason for not connecting and having a difficulty staying focus is the different POV or maybe because of the slow pace. I do know what it was but I really did struggle getting through this book.

Be careful what you wish you for, is the theme of this book. Throughout the book we followed the journey of Merrin and Elias as they are on the run. Merrin dreams of becoming more than a One. Her goal is be able to fly on her own. Although she loves Elias, she doesn’t believe she is enough as a One. And having to depend on him in order to fly is something she doesn’t want forever. I like the concept of her wanting more but at a point, I felt annoyed at her.

I love Elias, he is a sweetheart. He's very calm and loving. He gave Merrin space she needed. He let her explore and experiment on her own. But the fact that he didn’t stand up for his love, irritated me. Come on; tell the girl how you really feel. Tell her is okay to be the way she is.

None the less, this was a good story. I love the concept of it and the powers of the new characters. I love how Elias becomes the hero he never thought to be. I love how Merrin learns her lesson. It was indeed a good story of superheroes and the lesson of team work.

X-men. This book is totally inspired from the movie xmen with all the mutations. Good and evil and stuff like that.

I really hated merrins obsession over getting her one converted into two. That was all she can think after and she would have left Elias if he weren't trying his best to allow her. And that is what makes this book more realistic than the other ones where the character are like I will do anything for you but truth to be told u won't be staying in each others arm for all day long and we need to work or do something and without it u will never be able to live happily. And the author bring it forth in this book truly.

Those who wants to read a cheesy romance in this will never like this bcs it is based on the true relationships of this world and not a fantasy love which always feels lovely to dream about but never possible.

This book is about a guy Elias trying his best to keep his love safe from herself and her obsession. Who wants a normal life and I truly get him.

I liked Elias and his hardship and struggle was worth everything. His only objective is to live happily and doesn't care about powers and that's what makes him my favorite character of this series.

I must say the author has done a good characterisation and I truly enjoyed this.

Just like the last book it has a slow start and a terrific ending.

I would suggest this book to those who likes relationships with realistic mode other than cheesy romance or misunderstandings.

Again, God I love the cover! too cool for a self-published novel. Thank you so much for Leigh Ann Kopans for sending me a copy of your awesome book!

Two was all about survival, saving people, and happy ending. starts of where One ended. Merrin and Elias was running away from the Biotech hub. They flew from hub to hub in order to find sanctuary. Reading this will give you action, suspense, and sweet sweet sweet romance!

Two was narrated by Elias instead of Merrin. Who knows everything would be so different with other person's POV. It was really interesting to see everything with Elias' eyes, while Elias is a mixture of hotness and sweetness in One (the first book) he sounded thin and fragile-looking (physically) here. Now we know how he saw himself. And Merrin... she's so different! For the first several pages she sounded so selfish. Elias still loves her of course, and I do too, but here in Two she was even more irritating then when she was in One.

The plot and writing style was excellent! lots of love for Two! recommended.

Elias and Merrin's story continues from where ONE left off. Elias and Merrin are on the run from Biotech looking for a shelter and information about Fisk's future plans. Also on the run are Elias' sisters Lia and Norah who have suffered from Fisk's experiments on Supers and now have powers that are out of control. But when it quickly becomes clear there is nowhere to hide and Elias and Merrin may have to go on the offensive. Taking refuge at Clandestined Service Hub, Merrin learns that Fisk is set on curing Supers not helping ONEs. While Merrin looks for answers on how to stop the cure, Elias searches for his sisters. If they can't stop the cure Supers will lose everything, and if Elias fails to find his sisters, they might destroy the world or themselves.

I identified better with Merrin's character in ONE, but I still really enjoyed Elias' point of view. Elias is sweet and wants what's best for everyone. If he has one fault (if you can even call it that) it's that he cares too much and puts other before himself. Readers will find a lot of nods to X-Men in TWO and they serve to enhance the story and the plot. There weren't too many surprises in this book but it was great fun to spend more time in Elias and Merrin's world.

I really loved the story of One, and I could not wait to get into Two, and see what happened to Merrin and Elias.

In this novel, having the wool pulled from over their eyes Merrin and Elias have to figure out how to get away from the BioTech hub, and how to save Elias' sisters, who are spiraling out of control. They also have a desire to continue to build their Ones and in Merrin's case, find a way to fly on her own.

I really enjoyed the additional world building that we got to see - specifically the other Hubs and how their focuses were different from BioTech's. In addition, I liked the addition of other characters/abilities, and how they added to the story.

I am very supportive of self-published authors, and I have read several that were as good as mainstream published books. However, for this particular novel, there were a few quirks that I think would have been resolved had it gone the mainstream route. The story was jam-packed with action and also with emotion building, but I felt that there were some awkward transitions between the two. The pacing felt a bit off throughout the novel, and there were several small editing issues that I saw.

Overall it was an enjoyable story, and I still love the concept.

So this was the sequel to the first book I reviewed, One. Leigh Ann Kopans does not disappoint you with this entire book! I did get into a slump in the middle of reading this and didn’t finish it till I went to work.

[SPOILERS]

Once Merrin and Elias get out after the escaped, they just go around to the different Hubs and hope someone can help them. There wasn’t much action during this… they kind of just get away then go to another Hub. Then they are found and the Hub they’re at blows up and they fly at supersonic speed to the most secure Hub. This is where they try to discover how they can help everyone and Merrin is still trying to become a Super through the tubes she stole.

Once the action started, I really got into the book and didn’t want to be disturbed while I was reading it. The ending was really cute and I was happy for Merrin and Elias. I’m pretty sure there isn’t going to be another book… it ended with a happy closing but anything could happen probably. I would recommend this series!

Two begins right where One ends, and Merrin and Elias are in a heap of trouble! This time the story is told in Elias’s perspective, as he and Merrin flee the Biotech Hub.
The Clandestine Service Hub is the last place for safety, but Elias’s sisters remain Biotech’s prisoners, their superpowers spiralling out of control thanks to the experiments they were subjected to. Worse, Merrin is willing to put her life in danger for a chance to find a “cure” for her One-ness.

This was just as gripping and emotionally engaging as the first book! I love the lead characters, and we also get to meet some other new faces, too. Elias’s and Merrin’s relationship goes through some struggles as she still pursues her dream to fly, while Elias is more concerned with a normal life with his sisters. I honestly couldn’t predict how things would turn out, and there’s the perfect mix of action and romance. It’s refreshing to have a two-part series rather than another dystopian trilogy, and in Two’s case, it absolutely works. I recommend this series to anyone looking for a unique take on superpowers!

I enjoyed reading One, I thought it was a fun and original story. But I didn't like Two that much. I was difficult for me to remain focused, the story just couldn't capture me. It took me a long time to finish this book.

I didn't like the fact Two is narrated form Elias' point of view. It actually made me dislike him a little, just because he's so soft and boring. Oh and I thought it was a bit weird that a lot of Supers had more than two powers. And Elias getting all this new abilities? I know this is a book about the supernational, but it felt too much for me. Gary Stue anyone? ;)

I also still don't believe the romance between Elias and Merrin. It's so unrealistic and so over the top I-will-love-you-forever. I just din't feel it.

I see lots and lots of great reviews about this book and I'm glad so many people enjoyed it! I did really loved the cover and the idea behind these series, but that's about it. It's simply not my cup of tea ;)

Plot: 4 1/2 stars
Characters: 5stars
Style: 5 stars
Pace: 5 stars

I devoured it, and proceeded to sigh happily. It's so rare that a second book in a series manages to not just be a lead into the third, but this one manages it. I was a bit nervous going in if I'd like seeing everything from Elias's POV, rather than Merrin's, but it worked really well. His voice was distinctly his throughout. There were a few plot elements that were more obvious than I'd have really liked, and a few typos (about 4 total), but I'll freely admit I'm not the standard reader, so I can't hold it against it. Overall, fantastic!

There have been few books I love as much as I love ONE by Leigh Ann Kopans. Merrin Grey touched my heart in a way that very few YA heroines have since I read Meg Murry in A WRINKLE IN TIME. Inadvertently, I think I put off reading TWO for fear it might not live up to the thrill of ONE. It did.
Taking off where ONE ended, TWO is told through Elias' eyes and his view of Merrin and their life together only solidified my love for her. With a realistic blend of teen angst and charming romance amid the action of a science fiction action, TWO is a perfect book for anyone looking for a heart pounding escape.
