Young Lies

Rate this book
When I was nineteen, I fell in love. For the next three years, it felt as though I was living a fairytale with my Prince Charming. We got married. We had a son. We were happier than anyone had any right to be. And then it all fell apart.

A chance encounter in a small town diner began three years of what felt like a fairytale romance. Only fairytale romances don’t end with heartbreak. Five years after walking away from the only man she’d ever love, Samantha Everett is dropped right back into the life she left to keep her son safe.

After losing his family, Matthew Young tried to move on, but was never able to replicate what he had with Samantha. Now a new threat looms and he is forced to break his promise to let them live in peace, and they are brought back together. But after being apart for so long, they quickly begin to realize just how much they’ve changed. Is it too late for their love or is fate bringing them back together?

Writing has always been my "thing". It's a necessity for me and no matter my mood, it has the power to take me away from reality. Whether it be fantasy, horror, mystery, or a love story, I'm into all of it and only now am I starting to get into my stride and I'm eager to see just how much further this little hobby of mine will take me.

I absolutely loved this book.
It is the story of a Sam and Matthew who married young but were forced to part and haven't been in touch for five years.
I was completely engrossed in the story. Some of it is told as flashbacks and that doesn't always work for me as I sometimes find that the flashback interrupts the flow of the story. Not in this book, the flashbacks reveal the story a little at a time and actually help to maintain my interest.
So often, the 'thing' that prevents the two protagonists getting together is essentially the same, story after story and when you read a lot of books, that gets really old. The 'thing' that came between them in this book was original, unlike anything I've read anywhere else, and it made for an intriguing read and kept me reading late into the night.
As for the characters - Matthew is a proper romantic hero - handsome, devoted, successful, clever, funny, sexy...and of course stinking rich. What's not to like? For me, he represented everything you want in a romantic lead.
It's part of a series, but it has its own story, so I didn't feel short changed. Well worth a read, I loved it.

This would have been a 4 star book, but for me it fell short because of a few very aggravating facts. First, Sam's reason for leaving Matthew was stupid as hell. She leaves a man with enough security to protect the president, only to run back to her hometown with zero protection. Second, although she says he was the love of her life, she still runs straight from the arms of her INJURED, loving husband to the world's biggest pussy, Tom. Third, when she sees Matthew again, she is bitter towards him, although she is the one who left and kept him from his son for 5 years. Fourth, when she thinks Matthew is dead, the first thing that crosses her mind is returning to the Pussy, Tom. Lastly, I didn't feel any real chemistry between them to begin with.
The redeeming part of this book for me was the plot line and the writing kept me reading.

2 1/2 stars and here's why...so while I did like the plot and the characters I could NOT TAKE how ridiculous the reason why Sam left Matt in the first place. On top of that his couple was completely in love with each other but did everything possible not to be together. It literally drove me crazy. I loved Claire's character I want her to be my BFF lol

Also was pretty upset that they didn't tie up all the loose ends at the end of the book. You don't know who the rat is in Matt's team. I know they want you to read book 2 but what ever happened to a book having a definitive ending and having book 2 take the characters through another adventure?! I want to know what happens next with Sam and Matt but I'm not sure if I will read book 2 yet.

Sugar, this just a wonderful read. I can honestly say I enjoyed every single moment. Such a wonderful plot and the chemistry between these two - whew! Is it getting hot in here or what???? You could feel it the minute he arrived on her doorstep in Omaha. I can't wait for the second installment. You are a talented writer and don't you let any closed-minded, unimaginative fools get the best of you! Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

Loved this book and loved the characters. Although Matt and Sam are great together they are somewhat blind and dumb when it comes to their relationship and how the other feels toward one another.

Overall its a great read and I can't wait to read the next two books.

Amazing. This story will capture your attention as well as your heart from the first chapter. I feel in love with the characters instantly and can't wait to see what the author has in store for them in the next installment. This is a must read.

I liked that the plot was different and it kept me guessing. However, it was a long book and I was irritated when it ended with a cliffhanger.

Just a quick review on the series as a whole.

This book is full of betrayal, jealousy and secrets.

I liked the storyline but I don't think it's original and has been done many times before. The series is VERY long (I'm talking 800-1000 pages -per ebook) and I think it could have easily been condensed into 400-500 pages per book. The pace is extremely slow and there is so much repetition and they explain things different ways on so many occasions(it feels like every other page they are repeating something that has already been said).

I didn't feel a strong connection to the characters and at times they felt a tad whiney and felt sorry for themselves far too much. The key moments where it was getting interesting fell short because they happened so quick and I think could have been explained better. Some of the plot I think was just added for the shock factor but could have been executed better with more reasoning. For example, the best friend's betrayal, the sisters shock twist and the fathers secret affair.

That being said, I'm a sucker for a pregnant heroine and a hero who interacts with his children. I don't know why I just swoon for that sh*t. And for me that was its redeeming quality.

I really loved the romance in this book. Samantha and Matthew's story is like a fairy-tale to me. The type of romance you dream about as a young girl (at least I did). I really enjoyed reading about their relationship. In addition, there was a lot of suspense and mystery in this book that I enjoyed as well. Parts of the storyline were a tad bit far-fetched, but I was able to just roll with it. My only gripe is that the mystery wasn't resolved and I have to read the next book, and probably the third, before finding out if my suspicions are correct as to who was behind everything. It got to the point where I felt like the author was dragging it out too much, just to make it a series. I'm not sure that was necessary. But enjoyable overall. 3.5 stars.

Lets start with the good..good story ..kept me reading and interested..however..this book was very "long winded"..almost to the point where I just about gave up on it a couple of times..and editing issues don't normally bother me..but the ones this one had kind of did..felt like it was going to go on forever..and there's a whole other book..not sure if I'm excited about it or not..all in all..A good book..I guess!!

This was almost a 4 star for me. I really loved the story concept and the characters. The beginning was really, really good but towards the middle it started to lose momentum and started to drag a little. The flashbacks from past to present day threw off the flow of the story for me and there were parts that were repetitive. Overall, I enjoyed the story and I'll definitely read more by this author.

(3.5*) :) Would have been a solid 4 stars maybe even a 5 but the story dragged at times. Knowing that this was a series at the start I thought that it was also long-winded. I would have like a little more romance since the two main characters were supposedly madly in love. I will continue on with the series because it is a good mystery-romance and I need to find out what happens with Matthew and Samantha.

Young Lies grabbed me from the start and I never wanted to let go. I'm a sucker for a great love story and Young Lies delivered. I felt the heartache that makes your heart sink and root for the characters to overcome and WR Kimble delivered twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting more and more. I look forward to the next book

I liked the story to a point. I had a hard time with the way Sam left Matt. Really when your husband gets hurt you just cut and run with your baby and don't look back? Five years later he comes back into your lives and turns things upside down. The story has merit and I liked the who done it parts but it left off without any closure at all. I just had a hard time with The characters.

What a lovely story about second chance love. This was a very well written book which manages a great balance between past and present to help to establish the depth of characters. I really enjoyed this book and will be looking forward to the next one by this author.

Great book! Was pulling for Matt and Sam to find their way back to each other and they finally did. I kinda have a feeling I know who is behind things but I hope I'm wrong. Very happy Claire is the middle man or they would never know how each other felt.

I got quite addicted to this and couldn't put it down, which I always like about a book :-) It has an exciting storyline that I always needed to know more about. Some ends were not tied making me think I probably need to read the sequels now. :-) definitely liked this book
