This book was so left field I couldn't believe I actually liked it even though it was ALL over the place. At times I didn't know who was talking or why everyone was yelling but the story over all was good. Scratch that I thought it was really good. The author just needs to review, edit and make sure you can tell what's going on and who's saying what.

We love when we are introduced to a good Street-Lit book! Especially when the book can take you places - and you be like dammnnnn did that just happen. Oh Yeah - Anjela Day did all that and more in Hard. Before we even get into the review, we have to give you our favorite quote by the three brothers running the show in Hard.

Dinero (The Boss) - "I'll shoot my way into heaven because I was born in the trap, raised in hell, and like a phoenix I'll bust out that Bitch and set the sky on fire." BOOM!!!

Sacario (The King) - "Born killer, playboy, and self-made hustler. Royalty is all I could be. Hell, I was prince charming. I could charm the devil out of hell." BAM!!!

Ali (The Brains) - "I have nothing to prove to this world so I don't need a flashy title. I'm neither the king nor a boss. But you fuck with my family and I'll be the last thing you ever see. Call me what you like but know if you call, I'm there." POW!!!

Now that you have met the brothers lets get into the book...after watching your father murder your mother and then turn the gun on himself...the brothers find their way out of foster homes to running the streets of Detroit. They have the drugs and clubs on lock in Detroit, but we all know just when everything is going right someone is looking to knock you off.

Let us tell you Dinero is the meanest of the brothers. He just gives it to you straight and raw! And on Sacario's wedding day to the Gold Digger, Janet, only Dinero can threaten a bride and make you fist pump him! Please believe this is like no wedding you have ever been to before. But Sacario can't seem to shake drama with his women. He finds himself right back in a dysfunctional relationship with Lanya.

'Drowning the sound of Janet spend his money with thoughts of Lanya. He had really connected with her. Funny, he didn't believe in love at first sight but this girl had made him think it might be possible.'

Lawd knows this chick, Lanya, has been through the ringer already. Staying up to fight off her horny Step-father, then escaping to her abusive boyfriend's house. Lanya can't buy a break even if it were free. We can't even lie we were sick and tired of her running and crying and....damn we just wanted her to get it together! But on the flip side she was strong in some ways and that made her everything that Sacario was looking for and more.

Since there are so many characters are sooooo much drama...at times we found ourselves flipping back pages to read it again. If you not paying attention you will think you lost...but don't worry the drama will pull you back in. That was one of the things we loved most about the book! The drama - the action - the not knowing what to expect was great coming from this book.

We can't wait for Hard 2....Oh wait we already finished it. LOL! Review coming soo for Hard 2!

"Hard" was the first book that I've read by Anjela Day and I did like the direction the story was going and the characters that were presented in the story but at times I became confused with what was taking place. I couldn't determine what the climax or plot was in the book, even though I read it every quickly. I couldn't understand why Lanya was up and down with how she felt about Sacario, it seemed as though she was great with their situation and then she would turn cold. She refused to let her guard down and allow him to love her. She was very silly, immature and had a lot of growing up to do. I loved the Alton brothers and their different personalities. I was very upset at the end because I really wanted to keep reading and BOOM! It was over! I hope there is going to be a part 2 to "Hard"

“Hard” by Anjela Day…whew, she did that! This book tells the story of the Alton brothers.I won’t say anymore because I definitely don’t want to give anything away!

Anjela Day had my attention from page one.I loved the characters(even though Lanya got on my last nerves! lol). This book had it all. There was action, drama, moments I laughed, times I wanted to cry and even moments where I wanted to throw my kindle. I look forward to reading part two when it releases as well as future work from this author. 5 stars!

Found me a new fantasy couple that I like. Man, Lanya' better gone and settle down with Sacario. It's hard to pen a good man down, and she already got him wide open. She ought to be tired of Daylin slapping her to the floor everytime she looks up. This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster ride! Great job Anjela Day. 5 Stars for a 5 Star Author!!!

I was confused most of this book. It seemed to bounce around and the grammatical errors may have been to blame for the confusion. And Lanya became Nya in a flash and i was like who is that? IT WAS A STRUGGLE TO FINISH.

So much potential but the lack of editing and structure killed it.

I tried to get into this book but Lanya annoyed me to no end. I understood how the author tried to build up her background to explain her repetitively going back to her abusive ex and all of the other foolery she was putting Sacario through, but I just wasn't buying it. I mean, this broad literally spit on a man for trying to help her and I'm supposed to believe a killer wouldn't have snapped her birdbrained neck for it? Ugh. I just didn't like her and that made it extremely difficult to continue reading the book while rooting for her, which I suppose is what I'm supposed to do. Nope. Sorry. I can't do a whole series with this dunderheaded broad at the helm.

I reaallllyy wanted to give this book 5 stars because I absolutely loved the story...however, there was no structure to be found. Dialogue was all over the place, there would time jumps with no forewarning, POV would jump from one person to the next, literally within the same paragraph. Needless to say, I was confused a lot throughout the book. Despite those issues though, I actually think this author is really talented, this just needs much better editing because it was insane how all over the place this book was.
