In the distant future, humanity has expanded into the stars and formed the Human Alliance. Over the centuries, they have fought numerous times with the alien Krokator Star Empire and for fifty years have been in state of perpetual cold war with their rival power. When a bomb goes off in the heart of the Alliance's capital and the krokator Emperor is assassinated during the holy week by an ultraviolent faction called the Forbidden Army, their decades-long détente will be challenged.
The task of finding the perpetrators falls to Major John Gresham, an Alliance military intelligence officer tasked with finishing a colleague's investigation, and krokator Akgu Zurra, an unquestioningly loyal soldier dispatched by the Emperor's sister to hunt down the Forbidden Army's foreign supporters. When their paths cross, Gresham and Zurra come to realize that they face enemies beyond rogue terrorists, and that the Forbidden Army has friends from as high as the Alliance’s elite to gangsters in the alien slums. As the bodies pile up and the clock ticks towards the Forbidden Army’s endgame, their mission becomes more than just a mission – it becomes personal.
Humans and krokator have always hated each other, but the unlikeliest of partners will have to work together in "The Forbidden Army", the first novel in "The League of Planets Adventure" from Henrik Rohdin.

Book The Forbidden Army Book Thus Spoke the Dragon Book Servants of the Empire (Coming Summer 2014)
This book was a random pickup based on having Kindle unlimited. I was expecting a fairly run of the mill sci fi story. Thankfully it turned out to be the first book of a very promising series. Really enjoyed it
I enjoyed reading this book the plot was slow in places but the characters were well crafted and the story line was good with flash back stories added to provide context and history to the story.
The story line of this book is slightly above average but the writing is clunky; the editing and proof reading are terrible and it just isn't worth spending time to ignore the errors.
The characters are well defined, plotlines thoroughly carried through. Names and alien vocabulary was a bit annoying. (Typically this does not bother me, so it could be due to my reading environment at the time.) Book length was nice, giving room to develop the many twists involved. I doubt that it will have great longevity strictly due to the nature of the genre.
To me this book is a mix of Jack Ryan (from the Tom Clancy books) meets Star Trek. So an action/adventure book set in a future of intergalactic espionage! It took me a while to get into it - but once I did I discovered I liked the characters and wanted to see how it ended. A tip - there is a glossary of terms at the end of the book - it would've been helpful to have those at the beginning.
A grand sci fi tale and adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat til the final page. Well written by an amazingly talented author. Go and purchase it now.
Recent read: The Forbidden Army by Henrik Rohdin. I really enjoyed the anticipation of seeing Akgu Zurra the krakator soldier come together with John Gresham as a team. I've only read a few detective-style sci-fi books and this one was worth it. Congrats Henrik Rohdin
