Jonathon Steel is everything Serena wants in a man. He is sexy, successful, and mysterious. Sure, the dollars and fancy cars and holidays to exotic places are attractive, but his dark side, that which showed itself in the best-selling horror novels he wrote and which was forged by a lifetime of anger and pain, is the one thing that intrigues and attracts her more than anything else. Never in her wildest dreams did she think his dark side would prove to be so dark.
Rebecca Steinbeck is a pen name used by Australian author Darrin Mason. Darrin has worked much of his adult life as a freelance cartoonist (he is an Australian Cartoon Award winner) whose work has appeared in a number of Australian newspapers and magazines (People magazine and The Truth newspaper to name but two) and as a producer at 4BC radio in Brisbane, Australia. He is one hell of a funny guy with a dark sense of humor who now writes stories that make as much light as possible of the things he finds there. Above all else though, he is a fan of Batman. (The 1960s TV version, the late 1980s/early 1990s Michael Keaton version, and the Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale trilogy are the only ones that matter. You can forget the rest). As the Metallica song goes, nothing else matters.
Jonathon is a very successful writer of horror stories (which I'd love to read btw), which are so good, they border on disturbing at times. He was very mysterious but very loving and loyal to his mother who still lives in the small town he grew up in. While reading this, I got confused somewhat by his thinking. I'd have to go back and reread to see if it was his thoughts, or actuality. He meets a woman named Serena and she falls for him instantly. I wondered if they'd met before by how close/intimate they were, but knew that they had not met. The way he dealt with his feelings regarding his father was interesting. When you think one emotion wins out, you realized it's not the case. Jonathon is an enigma and would both scare and intrigue me. Really good read. I recommend to check it out.
This story of a found love touched me like no other. It is dark around the edges and beautifully soft on the inside. The main characters are real and thought-provoking and I simply cannot wait until September 1 for 69 INCHES AND RISING. 5 stars for a great read.
This is an erotic ghost story in which a famous writer must battle his demons, literally. He falls in love with a girl named Serena, and his soul is freed from the captivity in which it has dwelled.
A well written book of intense emotion. Johnathan in a successful writer of Horror. He has come back to his small town home to visit his mother and the Graveyard where his late abusive father is buried. Johnathan is trying to reconcile his feelings about his father who did not live to see Jonathan's success. His alcoholic father was killed in an automobile accident when he crashed head on into an oncoming car killing a young girl. When visiting his mother over tea a beautiful neighbor, who has read all of his books, is introduced to him by his mother. This is not a story that is full of romance but of pain and healing. I did not see it as chic lit or feel good. I was surprised by the turn the story took at the ending and was impressed with the extreme scenes that brought the book to it's conclusion. I would recommend it to my male and female reader friends.
Best-selling horror author Jonathon Steel is wealthy, successful, yet hiding behind a haunting past. Serena, a girl living across the street from his mother, has a crush on him. When their attraction leads to hot-and-heavy coupling, the reader gets a peak inside Jonathon’s dark side—where all his stories are created—and I found myself almost as afraid for Serena as I was aroused by the sex. I found it intriguing how at times I couldn’t tell what was happening from the imaginings inside his head. Fabulous read—can’t wait for the next one.
69 inches of steel by Mr. Mason. Is an erotic novel that many young adults will enjoy reading. I personally never read these types of books but I decided to give it a shot.
