Marrying Cade

Rate this book
Capable financial advisor Melo Bellucci always knew when it came to organising her sister’s wedding she’d be in charge. After all, her sister Rosa is notoriously scatterbrained. But there’s a silver lining in the form of the Best Man, Melo’s childhood crush, Cade West.
When Cade returns to the Tuscan island, Isola dei Fiori, he’s prepared to mix business with pleasure, especially when he meets Melo again. The confident, sexy woman is a world away from the lanky tomboy he remembers, and attraction burns between them instantly.
But when he discovers that the perfect site for his hotel, idyllic Paradise Beach, belongs to Melo rather than her father, can their relationship survive, when there are two plans for Paradise?

I've been meaning to read a novel by Sally Clements for awhile, and I'm so glad I finally got the time! Clements has the ability to transport the reader, and every time I opened the book, I felt like I was on the lush Italian island where the novel is set. And when it comes to the hero, Cade... well, I really didn't want to close the book on him! With romance, beautiful scenery and a great plot, 'Marrying Cade' is one not to miss.

I'm still not used to reading books in a PDF or Kindle format (despite the fact that I received a Kindle for Christmas!) I really love the feel of a book in my hands; flipping back and forth between the pages when I want to reread something. So when I decided to make Marrying Cade by Sally Clements, my first book in review for World Literary Café, I was a bit skeptical if I would enjoy it. However, I found Sally’s story of two teenage friends becoming reacquainted as adults a fun and easy three hour escape from the household chores beckoning me away from my computer.

Hoping it would be more than just the same old romance themed short story, I was pleasantly surprised to find a bit of backbone to it. Cade has grown up to be a very successful hotelier, while Melo has gone on to become a strong, independent and successful financial advisor. They both returned to her island home for the wedding of Melo’s sister, Rosa, to Cade’s best friend, Adam.

Melo is the one person the family has counted on to take care of everything, including the entire planning and orchestration of Rosa’s wedding, but her father still won’t let her be a part of the family’s wine business. While this may seem a bit archaic, I found it to be plausible because as many of the older generation still feel that the woman’s place is in the home.

Cade has come a long way, literally and figuratively. He’s made his way back from losing everything to having almost everything. Now that he sees Melo, he realizes that he wants her. But he just doesn’t know how much he wants her.

I found that Melo’s sister Rosa, was a spoiled, selfish brat, and to be honest, the story wouldn’t have held together as nicely as it did without her being this way. There were moments I really wanted to throttle her so badly that I had to contain myself. I love the way the two sisters play against each other and as twins, it’s nice to see the ying/yang of their relationship.

I was thrilled when Melo finally stood up for herself in front of the whole family to let them know she was not going to be a pushover anymore. I think you could call this the “You go girl!” moment of the entire story. From that point forward, I knew that she was going to do whatever it took to make sure she wasn’t going to lose anything her family had worked so hard to attain.

The question begs, "Do they get together?" Well, I won't tell because I don't want to ruin the story, but let's just say the road to get there is very interesting. At 176 pages, this was the perfect length to escape the everyday doldrums of life. Put this on your “To Be Read” list for an afternoon getaway.

This story was sweet and sexy. Just what I have learned Sally Clements provides in the books I have read from her so far.
Melo is the dependent sister and the person everyone depends on to fix things. She moves away to make her own life and not sit in the shadows because she is a woman. Her father never truly believed that a woman could do as well as a man, but at the same time, he comes to Melo to save him from his mistakes.
Cade is the man who made it for himself after having to go through so much as a child. He grows up and takes care of everyone who is dear to him and feels that it is his duty. But this also leaves him alone.
Melo and Cade meet up in their hometown for the wedding of Melo's sister and Cade's best friend. Neither of them are ready for the sparks that fly between the two.
Things seem to be ok until the secrets and manipulation from Melo's father causes everyone to rethink their feelings.

This story was fun and heartfelt at the same time. Melo has gone through a lot of things just to protect her family and make people happy. She even is willing to sacrifice her own happiness at one point. Luckily her happiness is the goal of Cade and things are made better by their relationship.

I honestly don't read romance novels much anymore, but Sally Clements' writing is always enjoyable. Her book are fun and easy to read. It's just like you come home from a long day at work and slip into something comfortable - a Sally Clements novel!

In Marrying Cade, you're off to a gorgeous island with cool breezes and sizzling heat between Melo and Cade. Melo is a strong, nurturing female character, with whom most women can relate today. Cade is that sexy, carefree bachelor women long to tame. The connection between the two will draw you in and keep you reading. (Flipping the pages also helps cool you off from the steamy romance developing between the two!) All the characters are unique and individual, so its a pleasure to get to know all of them.

This romance is an entertaining read. Give it a try!

A palate cleanser in word form! This is an excellent, refreshing book just perfect for the dog days of summer. A well-written, entertaining novel to make you say “aah” when you reach the end.

The plot isn’t a new one. Boy meets girl, girl falls in love with him, but she is too young. They meet up again at a wedding, and sparks fly. It’s the details that keep this novel from being trite. The exotic Italian setting lent itself beautifully to wedding festivities and romantic moments. The family winemaking tradition also allowed for interesting plot twists and turns.

Our heroine is a lovely mix of modern femininity mixed with the “good” Italian daughter. Having a slightly misogynistic father who also happens to be very ill adds to her sense of duty as well as her desire to stand up for herself.

The hero, true to form, wishes to remain a bachelor, but has feelings for our heroine. His history with the family entwines him in the business controversy and his friendship with the groom causes the involvement in the wedding. His interest in Melo causes the story to become more interesting.

Be assured of some romantic tension, exotic locales, and a happily every after for all parties involved.

Grab your sunhat, lounge chair and an icy beverage – then kick back and enjoy this lovely romance!

Sweet and satisfying, Marrying Cade is an enjoyable romance between childhood friends. Often, romance novels pair two characters who bump into each other and immediately fall in love. Not true for Cade and Melo. They grew up together and know each other intimately.

Brought back together by Melo’s sister’s wedding, Cade is drawn to “the siren Melo had become.” He doesn’t realize she’s been carrying a torch for him for years. The heat between them escalates only to be sidelined by wedding activities and business deals. Unfortunately, Melo is dealing with an ailing father who has made poor business decisions. Little does she know that Cade’s involved as well.

The story moves at an easy pace, gradually building Melo and Cade into a believable couple with rooting value. Melo is no damsel in distress, ultimately working out her family’s business issues without Cade having to swoop in to save her. He’s willing to, but she stands on her own. It made me appreciate the characters individually, which only added to their dynamic as a couple.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic heat mixed with a believable relationship. Cade manages to be both the White Knight and a man who respects a confident, strong woman like Melo. It’s sexy, and what’s a romance novel without a good amount of sexy?

Cade cannot believe his eyes, Melo’s all grown up and its lust at first sight.

Melo is a financial advisor and through no fault of her own her family is facing financial ruin. Unknown to Melo, it’s her pristine stretch of beach her father offers to sell to Cade West, owner of a chain of wilderness luxury hotels and a man Melo has loved since she was a tween. Disappointed at her perceived failure to keep her family in the black, Cade has resigned himself to throwing money at the problem but he hadn’t reckoned on Melo’s determination to find a way out without his help.

Nothing different in this second chances novella and its tame in comparison to what I’m used to reading but a quick light read nonetheless.

Typical romance story. Used to be best buddies; the girl always had a crush on the boy. The boy never noticed, now they are all grown up and WOW he notices her and more he wants her. Whirl wind romance with annoying family issues thrown in. Gawd her sister is completely annoying you kind of want to hate her and I think I still do.
It's a beach read nothing serious fun and light. The leading lady is a strong women but of course there are doubts when it comes to the man of her dreams.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to review it.

I'm a big fan of Sally's writing so was looking forward to reading this. It was tricky getting physically into the book as there seemed to be a formatting kink which hopefully has now been sorted but Kindle didn't update the version I had which I think is Amazon's issue rather than Sallys. I enjoyed the story and would have given it 5 stars but the ending feel very abrupt. We never got the shell presentation or ending that seemed to be foreshadowed which was a shame.

Fantastic read

This book was absolutely fantastic. It made me feel like I was a part of the island. When author wrote about Hidden Lake it was so well written I felt like I landed there on the plane. The story was excellent, exciting and very memorable. Love the characters as well. Well done..

This was a decent love story. It was a light read and had the stereotypical happy ending with a slight twist. I may be my stress fogged mind, but it was not the best nor worst book I have read. A beach, some sun, and a fruity drink with an umbrella would be the perfect accompaniment.

A good quick read. I do love that even though Melo's family is in distress and she is a damsel in distress, she rescues herself and her family.

Cute, fluffy romance. Not much depth to the characters - kept it short & sweet for the most part.

A romance that included the description of beautiful surroundings.
Sweet how a childhood crush never went away and the girl finally ends up with the person she has loved for so long.

This book was a silly romance with characters who don't know each other and fall in love. It was very mediocre.
