This book is a fiction novel about an adopted brother and sister that fall in love with one another after the death of there mother. The two main character's names are Power and Beauty, Power being the boy and Beauty being the girl. While reading this text I recognized several crafts being used throughout the text. In this text in particular there was a lot of imagery and imaging to engage and bring the reader's into the characters world. I believe the author successfully used imagery and imaging throughout the text I was able to visually see what was being described with in the text for example, in one point he describes the pool in the backyard to be awkwardly shaped like that state of Georgia. I was easily able to visualize what it is that the author was trying to get me to see. This is not a text that I would choose to use for younger students but I could use various examples from with in the text that may be age appropriate for students to use as examples of imagery and imaging or for me to give as an example.
This book is about a girl and a boy who are adoptive siblings after Beauty's mom loses her when she was younger. After their mom dies in a fire at her job one night,Charles 'Slim' Simmons friend of her mother who was a local business man and a street hustler, comes to take them in to live with him and they live a good luxury life while they stay with him and he gives them anything they could possibly want in life that their mom couldn't give to them. But then Power started to change how he acted towards Beauty all because the popularity he had gained went to his head. so one day Beauty decided to leave and go to New York for fashion school. This was a good book and I would want more people to read this book because it tells a story kind of like a love story, And I'd rate it a 5 because that's how good the book is.
I listened to the audiobook, and I was sad when it ended. The narration was great, and there were enough twists and turns and the characters were developed enough to make the book interesting. As others point out, it reminded me of the Sister Souljah books. This book is a part of a 2 book series, and the end of the book was a bit disappointing because it basically stopped in the middle of the story. I'm looking forward to listening to the second book, Trouble and Triumph.
