Continue Nadia Wolf’s adventure in this second book!
Nadia Wolf has had enough, and she’s fighting back. With a crime lord hot on her tail, it's kill or be killed. Nadia is running out of options, something that Caleb Usher shrewdly knows. And, he isn't above using Nadia's circumstance to bait her with another steamy wager.
While trying to save her own neck, play nice with an annoying new roommate, and deal with the obnoxious new assistant of Lost City Casino, Nadia must unravel a web of secrets that has gun-toting killers attempting to abduct her. People are not who they seem.
The first book in the series (the big blind) was wonderful and I could not wait to start reading this one since the first one ends with such a great cliff hanger. The second book is shorter than the first one but has more laugh out loud moments I think or at least I did. Nadia is back from Panama with Caleb, two stalkers, and one crazy fan boy. I love the fan boy and of course lets discuss Muffin who is married to Frankie (yes that guy) and is always mistaken for a female wrestler. Not only is all these loveable characters are thrown in the mixer but lets not forget David, Greyson, and of course Remy. After this twisted ending I think I will go crazy waiting on the 3rd book of the series. Please Nicolette Pierce type fast :) hehe
My love for short and quick books will grow forever.
High Stakes was a bit more humorous than the first one. At least for me. There's just something about Nadia that constantly brings danger. The only thing that I would change is the whole romance thing. I'm not even sure what kind of shape it is now.. but I guess I will root a bit more for Caleb and Greyson.
Other than that, this book had a couple of twist and turns that were pretty interesting. Not sure how I feel about the ending though. So I will have to see what the next book will bring in this series.
High Stakes was a fabulous follow up to the first Nadia Wolf novel The Big Blind. Who doesn't love a slightly wacky, normal looking, hysterical heroine who seems to attract gorgeous men and diabolical bad guys like bees to honey?! Nadia is such a relatable character, and her BFF/manager/boss Frankie, her girlfriend Mia and the new giant amazon wrestler-looking woman Muffin all had me cracking up. Nadia's choice of men has expanded dramatically, and now Greyson & Caleb have some serious competition from bumbling idiot Sergio & a late-arriving mystery man. Oh what I wouldn't give to be put in such an enviable position!!
The twist at the end literally had me gasping out loud and putting reminders in my calendar to look for the next book in the series, Cashing Out, when it's released later this year. I can't wait to read the next installment in this terrific series by Ms. Pierce!
This series has been a hoot to read. I love a book that I just find myself snickering or laughing out loud even after I have put it down. Running scenarios through my head as what I think is coming next, to only have that AH HA moment of being right, or feeling of HOW DID I MISS THAT?! I hate writing reviews because I never know if I am giving something away or not and I don't want to ruin it for anyone else. So sorry they are a little cryptic from time to time. I cannot wait for the next one in the series! EEEEKKKK.....
I enjoyed this second book in the Nadia Wolf series. It carried over the great characters from the first book and continued to put them in crazy situations. When Frankie dressed in the chicken outfit, it felt WAY too much like a Stephanie Plum story. I don't want it to go that direction, but stay unique with the Vegas/poker theme. Sergio was a good addition, and I hope he pops up in the future. Always a snag at the very end to draw you into the next book. Great!
I cannot put these books down - they're so entertaining! I don't know how the main character is still alive but she's awesome & I wish I could be her friend, but not too close since she's always in danger lol. Anyway what an ending & I can't wait to read what happens next. In case you couldn't tell I highly recommend this book to everyone so just get it already, but you may want to start off with the first in the series or you may be a bit lost ;-)
Got the first book free on amazon and flew through it. I bought the second one and read it in a day. I love a good romance but when you throw in some great action, I'm hooked. I'm still routing for Caleb but I have to say, the twist at the end of this book almost has me not caring who she ends up with as long as the fun continues. Can't wait for book 3!
Could not help but read the second one in this series as the last one had such a cliff-hanger of an ending! Although Nadia makes some pretty stupid choices that made me want to smack her across the back of her head but I just couldn't help but really like her and the other characters. Some of the dialogue and the passages within the pages of the story had me laughing. A fun, easy read.
This second book in the series is just as good as the first. I am still laughing about events that occurred in the book and I finished reading it hours ago. They just keep getting better. I can't wait for Ms. Pierce to write the next one.
Such a fun read! The characters are great (even though Muffin was super frustrating!) and the ending?! Had to read the next book straight away. Great series!
This is a really strange book You have Grayson in the book for short periods of time but He's fake Cancel not the type of man Will allow is assistant to takeover so there's something going on in the mean time Nadia is trying to save all of her friends and then figure out who is her friends
I love your books they keep me up when I cannot sleep I love it .Nadia is a nice young girl just trying to get buy .When she seems to be getting what she needs not what she wants ,something changes .Cannot wait to see how it works out with Ian ?

High Stakes picks up where The Big Blind left off, and we continue Nadia’s fun but crazy story in Panama City. Just like the first book, I love the action and adventure. This book makes me literally laugh out loud. My biggest complaint is that even up until 50% through the book there are places where the author is recapping things you should know from the first book. Though, right after that half-way point, I felt that the story really grabbed my attention, and kept me impatiently waiting for book 3 (of four). I would rate this 3.5 if I could do half-stars, but rounding up.
