Against the odds, Sarah Augustina Dawson survived the wrath of Guillermo. But not without a price. Forced to leave her beloved Montana behind, she and Josh are on the run.
Within the warmth of the South, Sadie is determined to find peace and conquer her past, even if only in her mind. But Guillermo can't let go. He's still orchestrating, hunting, and devising ways to exact his own kind of justice. When the law swings in his favor, he's ready to end the feud that started the moment Josh walked into Sadie's life.
"Only Rebecca Belliston can start off a story with the main character's funeral and turn it into a happy ending. You will keep turning the pages of this book long into the night anxious to find out what happens next! LOVED. LOVED. LOVED. IT! Didn't want it to end!" -- I Love To Read and Review Books
Rebecca Belliston loves books and music. Even more, she loves to write both. As an author, she writes clean romances with heart-pounding suspense. She also composes religious and classical-style piano and vocal music. When she’s not writing, she loves to play tennis, make sarcastic comments, or cuddle up with a good book—usually not at the same time. She and her husband have five children and live in the beautiful state of Michigan, which she loves for eight months of the year (she’s a baby about cold weather). Visit her website for characters, maps, music, and other freebies.
I loved Augustina even more than Sadie (which was amazing too!). I enjoyed how the plot wasn't too predictable and cookie cutter. It kept me curious and excited the whole time...in fact I read it all in one day. Rebecca is such a talented author and I appreciate that she keeps her books clean. I can't wait for her next series!
This sequel to Sadie is intense and takes Sadie on a dark journey as she tries to decide whether to testify against her old boyfriend, Guillermo Vasquez, who almost succeeded in killing her and making it look like a suicide. Sadie is in witness protection pretending to be Josh's wife. Vasquez wants Josh dead, as he believes he stole Sadie away from him before she died (was murdered).
Belliston did a good job taking the reader on a very emotional journey of guilt, grief, fear, want, rage, and ultimately redemption. Both main characters (Sadie and Josh) grew a lot through the book as they struggle to trust each other and let go of the pain and fear the past has caused. A good plot needs a slimy villain, and Guillermo Vasquez is perfect in this role--from the swamp of evil itself. The guy was powerful, confident, and unwilling to go down. I loved hating him.
It was nice to see Sadie's growth as she learns that she has value in God's eyes and forgives herself for the past. She's a sweet character who's been dragged through a lot of muck in both books, but she becomes strong...and it has been a wonderful journey with her.
As I finish the last edit of my book, it's hard to believe I'm saying goodbye to these characters. I've spent the last five years hanging out with Josh and Sadie. As weird as it sounds, they've become my friends. I love them. I hope you love them, too.
This is the continuing story that started in "Sadie". Sadie has fallen in love with Josh and he loves her. A funeral is conducted so that Guillermo thinks she died in the cabin fire. Guillermo vows to find Josh and kill him. This was a good sequel. I liked this book.
I loved this book. It was clean, fun, romantic, and I think I would read it again someday. That's saying something. I loved the characters, and the story really flowed. It was a great book!
Recently I had the chance to reread the spectacular book Augustina by Rebecca Belliston. This book is the sequel to one of my favorite books, Sadie. I remember I always enjoyed this book, but as I reread it this time, there were a few different things that I recognized and appreciated more than the first time I had read it. First of all was how much the characters have developed from the first book. In the first book, the characters go through so many trials and have to climb so many mountains, literally and metaphorically. From the start of the second book, they are already completely different people than they were at the beginning or even the middle of the first book. Another thing I noticed in this reread was the large symbolism of Christ throughout the story. The book does talk quite a lot about Christ and the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints, but this was the first time I noticed that the roles and story of Christ and apostles were woven into the story. I always think it’s so interesting and fun to see what new things you will find when rereading a book. Overall I would rate this book a four out of five stars. I really enjoyed it and loved the story line. I loved how the second book connected so well with the first, and how it kept most of the same characters. The book does an excellent job of continuing the storyline and showing that problems usually don’t go away easily. The villain from the first book is also the villain in this, but this book focuses more on the protagonist overcoming their own fear of the villain, diminishing any power the villain has over her. She also makes an incredible discovery of herself and of God, which is something I really appreciated and could relate to. This is definitely a good book selection if you are looking for a read on self discovery, romance, thriller, this book has it all! I really enjoyed this book and I wish there were more in the series.
Another great book! This is the sequel to Sadie. Once again, Sadie is trying to escape from her former abusive boyfriend, who thinks she is dead, but is now after her love interest, Josh. This book takes you along her journey with trying to free herself from the chains that still hold her to her ex-boyfriend and her embracing new opening doors in her life. Such a good book!
I liked this one more than the first one! It was suspenseful and wholesome. You’ve got to love a book that shows good triumphing over evil. A perfect ending that wrapped up the series nicely. It’s not the best series in the world? But if you’re looking for a good LDS series, this is a great one.
This was a satisfying sequel. We got to continue to watch Sadie work out her emotions in the aftermath of what she had survived. We got to watch her relationship with Josh grow. We got to meet more of their families. We got to see Sadie's conversion. Everything left unanswered at the end of the first novel is concluded here.
Also, I must add that in this book and the first, I really like the way Belliston wrote the spiritual aspects of the novel. It never felt preachy, awkward, forced, or cheesy—just real. It was well done.
"'I don't know. It's not that I have anything against counseling, it's just that I'm not . . . I'm not really . . . '
'One of those women? Croff finished. 'Look, I read your file. I read the things that jerk did to you. But I'm guessing that none of us know the half of it. All these nightmares are a sign that he left some huge scars on the inside. Going to counseling doesn't make you weak. In fact, I've been to a few sessions myself.'
Sadie's eyes widened. 'Really?'
'Yeah. Childhood stuff that I won't bore you with. But counseling doesn't take away your strength and independence. Just the opposite. It makes you stronger because you refuse to let that jerk spend more time in your head. It means you recognize something is broken inside you, and you need some help putting it back together.'"
"'Do you hate me, or think I'm crazy? Weird, eccentric, overzealous? Harrison thinks I'm the strangest man on the planet.'
'I think you're different. A little old-fashioned maybe, but I like it.' She leaned against him. 'It love it, actually.'
'You do?'
She flashed another radiant smile. 'Yeah, it's cute.'
He stared at her, amazed at her adaptability. Dating. Marriage. Cohabitating. Not cohabitating. Mississippi. Tennessee. Not to mention she just saved his pride. 'I can live with cute. Manly is more preferable, but at this point I won't push my luck.'
She laughed. 'How about gentlemanly? Is that better?'
The relationship between Mormon boy Josh and Sadie, the supposedly dead ex girlfriend of a viscous crime boss, is not just an adventure that will keep you turning the pages, but it is also a journey to find peace from the nightmarish pains the past bring to the present. Belliston's story is one of crime and conversion in which the unlikely mix subdues the other to bring both justice and mercy. Great quick read!
Great sequel to Sadie. The story stayed intriguing and it was a joy for me to read a story where the characters prayed, went to church, read the scriptures and so forth. The "yeahs" were a little abundant, but for most people I don't think that would be an issue. I'm just one of those old-fashioned types; the newer lingo sometimes drives me crazy. :)
Guillermo has disappeared, but he is looking for Josh. And since Sadie is supposed to be dead, the FBI move her and Josh to Tennessee. Josh and Sadie have a hard time following rules; so they put themselves, their family and their friends in danger. But it does make for an exciting book. Plus, there's romance and a little gospel teaching in the book. I enjoyed it.
Another great book!! I loved that this book picked up perfectly where the first one left off. I really enjoyed watching the story unfold, but I especially loved the ending! Rebecca does a great job wrapping up any loose ends and having everything come together in the end. Great read!
I like the first book, Sadie, so when I saw this one I was interested. It has been a few years since I read the other which made the first part hard to follow.
