With nearly a million book sales, USA Today bestselling author Hallee Bridgeman writes action-packed romantic suspense focusing on realistic characters who face real-world problems. Her work has been described as everything from refreshing to heart-stopping exciting and edgy.

An Army brat turned Floridian, Hallee and her husband finally settled in central Kentucky so they could enjoy the beautiful changing of the seasons. Hallee’s oldest daughter is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, her middle son struggles as a hexagonal “autism spectrum” peg in this round world, and her youngest son fills the house with wooshes and bangs as he fights imaginary bad guys while wearing a Spiderman costume and wielding a Ninja sword.

When she’s not penning novels, you will find her in the kitchen, which she considers the ‘heart of the home’. Her passion for cooking spurred her to launch a whole food, real food “Parody” cookbook series. In addition to nutritious, Biblically grounded recipes, readers will find that each cookbook also confronts some controversial aspect of secular pop culture.

Hallee has served as the Director of the Kentucky Christian Writers Conference, President of the Faith-Hope-Love chapter of the Romance Writers of America, is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), and the American Christian Writers (ACW), and Novelists, Inc. (NINC). An accomplished speaker, Hallee has taught and inspired writers around the globe, from Sydney, Australia, to Dallas, Texas, to Portland, Oregon, to Washington, D.C., and all places in between.

Hallee loves coffee, campy action movies, and regular date nights with her husband. Above all else, she loves God with all of her heart, soul, mind, and strength; has been redeemed by the blood of Christ; and relies on the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide her. She prays her work here on earth is a blessing to you and would love to hear from you. You can reach Hallee at hallee@halleebridgeman.com

This book has affected me on so many levels. I am so moved by it that I don't know where to begin this review. Me, who is usually never stuck for words! To say I'm stunned is an understatement. Friends, brothers and sisters, I never say I'm stunned by a book. Never. But I'm saying it now.

This is as taut a thriller as ever I've read. It's hard hitting and doesn't flinch from the bad stuff. Like any contemporary thriller, it's full of surprises. Explosions, bombs, bullets, missed connections, it's all there. What's not there is explicit sexual description and what is definitely not there is profanity. What a refreshing change! Hallee Bridgeman has gone and proved that you don't have to write dirty to get people's attention. That a book can thrum with sexual tension without a bed in sight. That actual evil and hatred can manifest itself on the printed page without a single swear word. And I truly believe, as a person who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that God raised him from the dead, that this can only be accomplished by the power and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Hallelluia!

I praise and thank God for the gift of Hallee Bridgeman to readers, for her awesome talent and generosity of spirit in sharing this wonderful story. The Spirit of God is definitely present here and the Word of God and it's vibrant power is continuously present.

The plot, James and Melody's story, how they meet at a juncture of their lives and fall in love, to be reunited again several years later, is compulsive and will please readers of romance. The intrigue regarding the enemies who surround them will please the readers of thrillers. How this couple walk in the Valley of the Shadow of Death, fearing no evil will please spirit filled Christian believers. It is so true - if you live in the Word of God and the Word in you, no weapon formed against you shall prosper and ever tongue which rises against you shall be condemned.

Heavenly Father, I pray this wonderful novel will be read far and wide and help increase the faith of believers everywhere and bring faith to people who don't know the Lord. In Jesus' Name, Amen!

This book was AMAZING. The absolute worst part of the book was when I flipped the last page over and realized that there wasn't any more to read. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I couldn't read it fast enough. Every single one of Hallee's books suck you into her world and take you on a wild ride. Waiting for the next book to come out will be complete torture, so I guess I'll just have to read this one several more times between now and then. I won't give too much away, but I will say that Melody and James are both very compelling characters, and Melody's struggle to learn how to trust God again after a traumatic event is a very real thing that happens to a lot of Christians. I love the way Hallee tackled this issue.

If you have had a rough childhood and even adult life has dealt you a number of hard blows that you did not understand, it is easy to see how one can have either no faith or loose your faith in God.

But I also do know that it takes time for the reasoning behind God's actions to become clear to us, in order to understand why He wanted us in a certain place at a certain time with a certain person. And when those reasons shine clear, it is the only light we need to find our way back home.

The newest read from brilliant Christian author Hallee Bridgeman, tells the story of Melody, she meets the man of her dreams and wedding bells ring. But on her blissful day she discovers her darling fiancée is having an affair, she takes off running for a two week 'alone honeymoon". Upon her return she meets James.

James has suffered and struggled with the loss of his wife, who was tragically murdered six months ago. Melody and James connect on a emotional level that is soothing to them both and decide to have dinner the next evening. But Melody never makes it to the dinner and four years go by before she and James come face to face again, and this time he is not letting her out of his sight, only this time he has to compete for her with a madman out on a mission to kill.

The character of Melody was a wonderfully strong and passionate young woman, she has fought her way to the top of her dreams, but yes she has also lost her faith along the way. I loved how the author let God use James to bring Melody back to her faith and closer to God than she was before. The author showed that people cross our paths for a reason, and bad things happen in order to make us stronger. She also showed that when we are down God lifts us up even if we desert Him, he is always there ready to pick us back up.

The character of James was such a emotionally touching one that I felt his pain and anguish in his fight to stay close to God and not let anger toward the killer get the better of him. I really loved how the author let him find God when he was at his lowest, showing that He is ready to accept us no matter what age or what our past is, we just need to let go and accept Him.

The backdrop settings of this read varied from thrilling and exciting to caring and sweet. Each setting perfectly matched with what the characters were facing at that particular moment of the read. From the heart wrenching moment of a thrilling car chase with blazing guns to the shocking moment of truth being revealed.

The read was filled with moments of understanding, openness, self discovery, faith, love and suspense The author kept me on the edge of my seat at all times, kept me guessing as to who the killer and his evil partners are up to the very end.

The dialogue was kept in tune with the read going from kind and caring when needed, but also to dangerous and filled with words of anger when the situation called for it. The author gave me as reader a sense of calm and I could actually touch the feelings of faith and love in this read.

This authors books are quite different from the romance reads that most of us read today, she focuses on taking a realistic story and adding in Christian elements that show faith in God is what will ultimately always reign supreme and God is the One you cannot live life without. But at the same time she incorporates suspense and action with a great story line, giving me as reader a truly touching read to remember for a lifetime.

The message I am taking away from this read is no matter how bad life seems, no matter what or who comes your way, always remember God is with you every step of the way and in the end His plans for you will become clear.

I highly recommend this read for any and all lovers of reading. You will find yourself deeply moved and seeking more from this brilliant author. She delivers on every page a strong and emotionally packed read with a deep insight into the world of life and love vs faith. Once again this author has surpassed my every expectation and touched my heart, I am eagerly awaiting the next magical read!

A Melody for James, Part 1 of the Song of Suspense series by Hallee Bridgeman
Melody Mason was all set to marry Richard but broke it off the day of the wedding. After her solo honeymoon, she meets James Montgomery a recent widow by chance in the airport. They hit it off and spend the day together. They have plans to meet again but a tragedy keeps them apart. For the past four years James has been on her heart and he has thought of her often, wondering what happen. By chance they meet again at the preparation of her sister Morgan’s wedding. They fall head over heels in love and soon wed. While trying to combine the busy lives of a famous singer and traveling computer genius they find their lives in jeopardy. Where will James’s strong steadfast faith and Melody’s newly re-found faith lead them? They seem to be one step ahead of a crazed maniac but for how long. Somehow the death of James’s late wife and Melody stalker have a common denominator but what is it and will the mystery be solved before it’s to late to live a life of true happiness that God destined for them. The author does an outstanding joy of working faith into this novel. And her tale of forgiveness in action is inspiring. They way the characters handle betrayal with the highest level of respect and dignity is admirable. I can not wait to read the next book in this series. The author Hallee Bridgman is an excellent writer and I highly recommend this book to all fans of Christian, romance and suspense fiction lovers. I want to thank the author Hallee Bridgeman and publisher Olivia Kimbrell Press for writing and bring good clean Christian books to readers like me.

Although this novel has the same sweet, sensitive and understanding male character, readers should not confuse this series of suspense novels with Hallee's Jewel Trilogy. I love an author who is able to cross genres, especially from sweet romance to intense intrigue and Hallee does an exceptional job! From the first page where we are given a glimpse into James' wife Angela and the exhilaration she brought to their marriage, I was thrust into adrenaline action. This continues right until the last page where a satisfying ending is achieved.
I was impressed at how Hallee brought in the forgiveness factor, and how the characters reacted to it. I wonder if that is why some of our own incidents end the way they do, because we have not availed ourselves of this opportunity? The thread of salvation, though not overt as in some novels, is there, but I do not think that that will in anyway turn those away that do not appreciate this in a novel. Conflict is evident, both internal and external forces as they join forces against evil. Many questions do arise in this novel, not necessarily for the author to answer, but ones the reader may ask themselves.

I received this book free from Fred at Book Club Network and the author, Hallee Bridgeman for the purpose of reviewing and promoting. The opinions stated are my own.

The hardest part of reading this book was when I had to put it down! These characters seem like real people. I love how Hallee Bridgeman allows her characters to be Christian and still be flawed and make mistakes. I especially liked how Melody struggled with her faith after an extremely traumatic experience but ultimately found her way back to God.

My thoughts about the book:
I have read other books by Hallee Bridgeman (you can read my reviews of them here) but this book is my favorite by far. She gives you real characters with real problems. I love how she integrates faith into the story without out "beating you over the head with it." She also keeps her books clean and classy. There are several twists and turns in this story that will keep you on your toes. Once you start reading this book you will not be able to put it down! A Melody for James is a must read for anyone looking for a delightful, easy read that we keep you on the edge of your seat.

This is a wonderful romantic suspense novel, Halle Bridgeman is an amazing Christian author and had outdone herself this time.

We start the book with recent widower James and Melody, who on her wedding day discovers her fiancée was cheating on her, meeting while returning from trips. They have an instant connection, then Melody is savagely attacked, James can't get in contact with her. They go separate ways. Now, fast forward 4 years where they meet again and viola the fun begins.

This is a story that is sweet and romantic, and dark and suspenseful. It shows how lives and people have intertwined through the years. I loved it so much that I have already read it 3 times. I also purchased copies for my friends that is how good this book is. It is well written and pulls you in from the first sentence, you will not want to put it down once you start it.

I have enjoyed all of Hallee's books but I think this is her best by far.

Having read and loved Hallee Bridgeman's Jewel Anthology, I was excited but slightly hesitant when I heard she was soon to publish a Christian Suspense novel. I was thrilled to discover that Hallee Bridgeman does not disappoint with her latest book, A Melody for James.

Melody and James meet under less than desirable circumstances but feel an instant connection. Tragedy strikes and a series of head-shaking circumstances keep them apart for the next 4 years. When they finally reconnect, they find themselves drawn into a deeper web of intrigue and terror than they ever could have imagined, renewing their faith along the way.

A Melody for James is Book 1 in Ms. Bridgeman's new Song of Suspense series. I expect this series to be a huge success and look forward to reading the rest of her future books.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the fully-developed characters in this book and the intricacies of their interactions, but what made this 5 star for me was the suspense. Suspense is my preferred genre, and this served up lots of chilling plot twists and unrelenting tension. The good guys are attacked repeatedly and must defend themselves from unknown threats for unknown reasons. The author creates this sense of menace and terror and of being a helpless pawn in a struggle against evil forces in the midst of sweet love stories. Great combination. Naturally, as a Christian fiction reader, the role of faith in God and His mercy, protection, and grace portrayed in this book were especially satisfying and uplifting. Loved the book and look forward to the next.

Do you love suspense stories and want to read a book with a love story and a wholesome message that keeps you interested?
Have you ever had a chance meeting that you knew God orchestrated? Then, later looked back and realize that experience changed the way your life was going? The characters in this book have that very experience. Did God bring them together to heal or will the circumstances of live prevent that?
A suspenseful book that will keep your turning the pages and in awe of how God works in peoples lives

I received a copy of this book as a book club leader. Oh how I want to use it for that. Since my group relies on the library I may not be able to, but want to consider it.
Melody and James have a chance meeting in an airport, exchanging only first names. They plan to meet for dinner, but things happen that keep them apart for four years. As the story progresses we find there are many things that connect them in ways they couldn't imagine. We encounter honorable people and also people who aren't what they seem. I highly recommend the book.

I was sucked into the suspense of this novel from page one, and ended up staying up until 4 am to finish it! I'll admit that at first I was irritated by the jumps in time, but Bridgeman came through and successfully bridged the gaps in time. This book is a perfect weave of suspense and romance and Christian message. I fell in love with both of the main characters. I'm glad a friend recommended this book to me, and I've already recommended it to others!

As one who has played piano since I was 4 years old, the title alone caught my eye. Behind the cover is an incredible story of intrigue, romance and lots of music. Melody is an incredible composer of music with lyrics - all written on whatever scrap piece of paper is handy. James is a brilliant mind in the field of computer software. Between labs exploding, people being shot, kidnapping and more, the reader is left breathless at times, wondering if the heroine and her hero will even survive! A very well written story. I know this reviewer can hardly wait to read the second book in the Song of Suspense series.

Melody for James
By Hallee Bridgeman

I have so enjoyed all the books that Hallee has written. I like it that they are Christian backed, Great clean books.
Melody of James is based to me on love and faith and trust. A girls dream is to find Mr. Right. Wedding all set then find out he is having affairs. That would make a girl be careful on finding another guy. There is a guy that comes into the story, James is a widow wife had been murdered. He has his eyes on Melody. This book will keep you on edge so be prepared to keep reading and not put it down. I have loved all of Hallee’s books.

This is a delightful novel. There is plenty of action with intense periods of suspense. There is a good mystery in the plot with a twist at the end. The romance is well done. It was fun to read how God orchestrated lives so that the couple could finally get together after four years apart. I liked the character development. The Christianity of the characters is an essential part of the story. This novel is just al all around good read. See my full review at http://bit.ly/1icI7IO.

Wow, such an awesome roller-coaster ride sort of book which I so enjoyed!!! The main thing I didn't like about it was that the POV was confusing... thoughts jumped from James to Melody and it took me a bit to realize the story was written in the third person omniscient POV, so the rating in my mind bounces around 4 stars for that reason. But it was so intriguing and it kept me reading till that last page!!! :D

A wonderful suspense novel full of twists and romance!

I had heard of Hallee Bridgeman's books but hadn't read any of them, so when I got the chance to read and review A Melody For James, a suspense book, I jumped at it. Suspense/Mystery is one of my absolute favorite genres and I do have, well, standards I suppose. A Melody For James met those standards and exceeded them! I never quite know what to expect when I read a new-to-me author, usually I enjoy the book, and this time was no exception.

The characters, good ones that is, are likable and believable. This isn't just an average who-done-it with shallow characters and non-stop action. The hero and heroine especially are very well developed, their thoughts and emotions are detailed. In many ways A Melody For James is also a study in character and how circumstances and faith shape it.
James doesn't have much place for faith in his highly intelligent and scientific world – until his wife dies – until he meets and then loses Melody.
Melody had a rough childhood with a demanding mother, she then lost both parents tragically, in spite of it she holds to her faith – until Richard betrays and nearly kills her – until stardom gets in the way.
Both characters learn and grow. They struggle through love, loss, fear, and finding their way back to God.

One of the things I really liked about this book was the struggle for forgiveness. James and Melody both have a difficult time forgiving the people that did this. So often in Christian Fiction forgiveness is stressed but then is tied up in a neat package at the end of the story; not so in A Melody For James, forgiveness is a journey. One of my favorite lines explains this quite nicely,
“Melody was not that strong, though she wanted to be. She would have to find a way to ask God to forgive her for all of her hateful thoughts about him. She would have to pray for the strength it would take to forgive him. It would take reading her Bible, praying, and asking James to help her.”

This was a great suspense story that will keep the reader saying “just one more chapter” until the book is done. There are a few twists thrown into the plot and just when you think the story is over, it isn't. I have to admit that I did partially figure some of them out before they happened but I think that comes from reading way too many Agatha Christie stories and always trying to pick out the guilty party or parties.

I would definitely recommend A Melody For James to suspense lovers. This may have been the first book I have read by Hallee Bridgeman but it most definitely will not be the last. I am hooked on this series for sure!

"A Melody for James" is the first in Hallee Bridgeman's new series Song of Suspense. It is also the first book that I have read by this author. I look forward to reading more in this series. "A Melody for James" was a great beginning for the series.

Melody Mason is an heiress. On the day of her wedding, she finds her fiancé sharing his apartment with another woman. She leaves him at the alter and goes to England in order to decide what to do next. Upon returning she finds herself intrigued by a mysterious stranger with whom she only exchanges first names. A tragic accident derails their plans to meet further.

James Montgomery is a widower who is still recovering from his wife's tragic and unexpected murder. The owner of a security company on the brink of a great discovery, James is surviving by putting one foot in front of the other. A chance meeting with an intriguing heiress, and he is hooked. However, unreturned calls make further meetings impossible.

Fast forward 4 years, Melody is coming off tour in order for her sister to marry the man of her dreams. Kurt and Morgan were made for each other. A knock at the door brings Melody face to face with her intriguing stranger. James is floored when the missing heiress opens the door to his knock. Not realizing how closely their lives have been these past four years nor how intertwined they really are with the evil forces that stalk them, Melody and James marry quickly. They are afraid that they may lose each other again. How right they may be when the stalker comes close and lives are put in danger.

I am not a fan of Melody. While Ms. Bridgeman seemed to flesh out all of the other characters, Melody remained nothing more than a selfish diva to me. I really was able to relate to all of the other characters in the book. Melody seemed to come across as not genuine. Her character would be the only part of the novel that I would change. I do wish we had been able to learn more about James's first wife Angela a little longer. Her character seems to come to life through the other characters even after her murder.

I would definitely recommend this book to fellow readers. I was excited to receive a copy of this book from bookfun.org in exchange for my honest opinion.

A Melody for James is a wonderful Christian suspense story of a chance-encounter, a new love, a broken heart, sweet romance, and repentant hearts along with dread, secrets, intrigue, unimaginable loss and bloodshed all wrapped up in an unshakable faith in God that guides and protects Melody and James and those they love.

I really enjoyed this book. It is packed with loss, love, danger, excitement, sinister plots, exhilarating success…the list goes on and on. It is the story of two people who have both experienced loss and pain in their lives. Melody experienced a huge betrayal and James lost his wife, Angela, to a murderer. Is it possible for there to be a happily ever after for Melody and James?

There is just so much to this story that it is hard to write a review that really does it justice. It was a very hard book to set down. I always found myself wanting to read just a little bit more. Then, I would find myself thinking of Melody and James and their situation even when I wasn’t reading the book…wondering what would be next for them! It is a testament to good writing when an author can make their readers so very invested in their characters.

I also enjoyed the detail with which the life of a superstar was described. I really was able to feel like I was there, watching Melody and her crew rehearse and perform. Very good attention to detail in all of the scenes led to a very believable book. I felt the same way about James. Getting a peek at his brilliant mind and watching him do his thing with technology.

As always, there was a strong element of faith in the story. Real people dealing with real struggles and learning how to turn to the Lord for help. I highly recommend this book to readers who love romantic suspense.

Captivating suspense!

I received a free copy of this book through The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

James Montgomery while still mourning the murder of his beloved wife has a chance meeting with beautiful Melody Mason. She is also dealing with her own grief at the time. As he saves her from a troubling situation they both feel an unexpected connection. Before they can see each other again disaster strikes and they lose contact with each other.

Years later incredible events finally reunite them once more. By this time Melody has become the hottest female country singer. Together at last, they realize that the bond they felt at their first meeting has not died. They know that God paired them for a purpose. But sinister forces are threatening to destroy their rediscovered happiness. They must work together, placing all their faith in God as they solve the deadly mystery that binds their lives inexplicably together.

I loved the great characters that Hallee developed for this story. They are easy to connect with. The plot is very intricately woven and kept my interest throughout the book. I was actually hooked by the story before I even finished reading the prologue. She also included a lot of details about what would go on behind the scenes at a concert that I found fascinating. A few of the twists that she included I was able to guess at but there were many more that caught me by surprise. I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

As a fan of Hallee's Jewel Trilogy, I was excited to have a chance to read another genre, to see how it would be. Awesome!

The story opens with Angela, wife of James, working in her lab on a breakthrough, which they arrive at and then Boom! Intruders, guns, computers disintegrating, and an explosion with many lives lost. For years this crime goes unsolved.

Meanwhile, Melody, on her wedding day walks in on her fiancee with another women, and leaves for her honeymoon alone.

There is a chance meeting, a spark, and plans for a meeting then evil happens and they both go their own ways, not even knowing the last name of each other. Fast forward four years, a wedding, a chance meeting and boom the sparks fly and as their friendship blossoms, the plot thickens.

James has an intimate relationship with Christ, whereas Melody wants nothing to do with Him or church. A sweet romance turns into another sheep coming home. They have issues, with each other, lifestyles, but true love and God conquers all.

As you finish one chapter, you can't help but keep turning to see what happens next, and to see whom was behind it all. I was floored. Pick up the book today and see if you get the villains right.

I was given this book by bookfun.org in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Fred and thank you Hallee. Awesome read. Definitely will be watching for your next one!!
