Scribbles the cat and Ink the mouse are buddies and fellow artists. In this adventure, the arrival of a box of cheese brings a yummy snack for Ink and an artistic opportunity for Scribbles--he loves the box! What can he make from it? Everything!

This is my new favorite Cat and Mouse duo. This time they are introducing readers to chapters. This is a fun and short way to get kids to read longer books. It relies heavy on graphics, and almost, but not quite straddles the graphic novel line. Think Elephant and Piggy, with more slapstick. Love these guys and can not wait to see what they get up to next.
HOW DO YOU READ BOOKS ON THIS AND THEY ARE SO SHORT LIKE WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
This book gets all the stars from me. It was the perfect opportunity for my bilingual grandson to practice his reading. This is written in the same style as Elephant & Piggy. Scribbles is a cat and his speech bubbles are in red. Ink the mouse has blue speech bubbles. We had so much fun the first time, we read it two times in a row. We may have enjoyed the book more than the cat and mouse did their box inside. Love the play on how cats obsess over boxes, too. A big success at our house. 🐈🐁
We're so proud of you for reading this wonderful book! You learned something really important - that your imagination can turn anything into something amazing, just like Scribbles did with that box. Even simple things around you can become special when you use your creativity! You also saw how friends can solve problems together. Keep reading and dreaming big, sweetie. We love watching you grow!

Kind of a picture book and kind of a comic book. This is a great example of playing with art concepts so that Scribbles and Ink can change their environment simply by using their imaginations and a pen. They compete over a box and explore all of the wonderful things kids can use a box for.
Beginning chapter book These two friends use their imaginations to create many things out of a box. They also have a spat and realize how to be better friends.
The illustrations are fun and detailed, but I think the jokes will be over the heads of the intended audience. Some weird jumpy text moments, too that I don't think kids will get.
Long's entertainment value never disappoints. I've read some of his previous works and they are always packed with great illustrations and solid story-telling. This book's strengths lies in its likeable characters and great use of imagination. Unfortunately, near the end, I sort of zoned out as I felt the story flow loses its charm-like quality. I struggled to keep engaged, but I'm sure it wouldn't lose its appeal with children.
This is one of my little sister's favorite. It gave us ideas of what to do with any boxes that we have. We also created her dolls a castle out of boxes, which fun until she created a swimming pool.
This is one of those "can we read it again, mum" books. Always a plus for me. Super plus because it's on the EPIC app with a "read-to-me" feature which is a bit like Audible but with the pictures.
