Conflict is the second book in the Control series. This description contains spoilers for those who have not read book one in the series, entitled Control.
Private Investigator, Paige Stone has always appreciated the independence of her life, however, her world was pitched upside down when she and her roommates were attacked and nearly killed. As a result of the attack by Chris, Paige now finds herself dependent upon Daemon Pierce for a place to live as she hides from Chris. Paige has never lived with a man before and demands that Daemon consider her a "roommate" only, even though it goes against her own desires.
Strong-willed and arrogant, Daemon Pierce has been working hard to protect Paige from Chris and from herself. Letting go of his life as a womanizer, Daemon tries to prove to Paige that she can trust him, even though he refuses to enlighten her as to his past. Daemon struggles to comply with Paige's ridiculous demand to be "roommates" and quickly finds that he has fallen in love with the girl who does nothing but push him away.
Chris is still on the loose and Paige becomes impatient at the amount of time it is taking the authorities to apprehend him. Paige takes it upon herself to hunt Chris down, while still refusing to ask for Daemon's assistance. When Paige discovers a message left by Chris, she devices a plan to locate him while keeping Daemon in the dark as to her plans. Paige's emotional journey once again places her in dangerous situations and when secrets are revealed and decisions are made, Paige has no choice but to look deep within herself to see if she can finally trust the man who will stop at nothing to save her.

“I’m going to fuck that sassy little mouth of yours, Paige. It’s something I’ve wanted to do since the first time you told me not to call you ‘Damsel.’ ~Daemon
THAT is one of my fave lines!LOL!! LOVES me some Daemon!!!
M.S. Willis definitely takes it up a few notches in Conflict, the second book in her control series. And I am not just referring to the steam. The suspense and Intensity definitely had my emotions going in every direction.
My girl Paige Stone is used to her independence free unrestricted life. But now she is stripped of her ability to live life and ride her bike free because a psycho serial rapist stalker (Chris) is after her. And though the police are looking for him so far he seems to have evaded them.
In the mean time Paige is staying with Daemon and for some reason she would prefer that he treat her as a roommate and nothing more. The phrase bitch please came to mind when she said that tid bit.LOL! This whole strictly roommates thing causes some seriously pent up sexual frustration to take residence in her body. Both she and Daemon battle out their lustful cravings for one another and let me tell you, that roommate only crap does NOT last long.
Once they finally give in…
Hot steamy sex won’t keep a girl happy forever. Being stuck in Daemon’s house is not good for a free bird like Paige. Nope, in fact she starts to get increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress the cops are making. That’s when the story itself picks up. Paige gets a disturbing message from Chris. That ALONE incites her to come up with an idea and she puts her investigative skills to use to find the psycho serial rapist (Chris) herself. Then she goes and enlists David to help her.. To my surprise he does.
In between all of the good sex and how to catch a killer scenes Paige gets a phone call and she goes to see Annie. For those who have not read this series yet and skipped my note without spoiling it (Annie is her roommate who is dealing with some horrific issues from an incident in book 1). The scene between these two women is ABSOLUTELY HEART WRENCHING.
I have to admit it’s not her smartest move but a girls got to do what a girls got to do. Paige and David move forward with the plan she concocted to catch the serial rapist. Things quickly heat up and I do not mean in a good way as Chris and Paige come face to face. And a secret that finally ties up the loose end from book one is FINALLY REVEALED.
My thoughts I enjoyed the flow of this story more than I did the first. It was good to see the vulnerable side of Paige.
‘I didn’t like those scars. They made me feel weak somehow, like I was vulnerable enough to be taken captive.’
For me personally she came off a little too strong in her ‘I am woman hear me roar’ attitude. I enjoyed how Daemon tamed her wild spirit by letting her know the threat to her life was real and that to be scared is normal. I very much enjoyed the dynamics between Daemon and Paige. Daemon being the only one who can tame the lioness that is Paige; very nice touch Willis. It’s almost as if she held off on commitment and love because she was waiting for Daemon.
I also love the roles both Alex and David played, they are awesome friends! I look forward to book 3! Special note: This does not end in a cliffhanger

Ok! I'm thinking right now and will come back with another bundle of thoughts on this one. :)
and a couple of hours later, I still have some minor objections about some story flows and moments BUT I'm again overlooking it.. LOL it was predictable from the very first book and we get the confirmation of it in this installment, although I don't quite follow the reason of our heroine to feel and acts the way she does ...and yet, I'm still overlooking it...again
I know, i'm a sucker for hot, determined and slightly alpha guy (well in this case) who's only mission for "his gal" is doing this:
"His voice was whisper soft as he said, “I want to control every part of you. Your heart…your breath…your pleasure and your pain. I want to not only invade, but take over every sense you have. You’ll see nothing but me, hear nothing but me, taste and feel…” His words trailed off momentarily as he lightly ran the tip of his nose down the side of my face to my jawline. “…nothing but me.” ..."
can you actually blame me?
so, I'm rating this with 5 stars mainly cause of the guy, the undeniable chemistry between Daemon and Paige, their banter and interaction (hot, hot, hot); and there's David (OMG, dear sweet, funny friend)
there are so many funny situations and humor in dialogs between them all... " “The first thing we should discuss is boundaries. Now that you two have progressed past your silly little platonic status, and now that I have Matt, are there any areas off limits for clothing optional encounters, or maybe areas that I should avoid all together?” Daemon’s mouth quirked into a sideways grin and the appearance of one of those dimples caused my heart rate to increase. “Well, you may want to avoid the kitchen island until I’ve had a chance to clean it. I believe I may have been a little sloppy eating my breakfast this morning.” He shoulders slightly shook from his amusement..."
and who wouldn't cave in and fall deep if someone offered you this kind of support and adoration:
" Daemon reached down, grabbed my hands and placed them flat against his rock hard chest. I could feel the strong, rhythmic beat of his heart. He held my hands in place as he said, “Scream at me, hit me, scratch me, kick me, fuck me…it doesn’t matter as long as I can help take some of that pain and frustration out of you. I don’t care what you do to me, Paige, just as long as you’re with me. Use me anyway you need, just never leave.” He leaned down to place a kiss on the top of my head. His forehead rested on mine when he continued. “Promise me, Paige, that you’ll never let me go. I don’t think I could survive it..."
and even though I won't mark this book as one of my favorites I shall remember Daemon...most definitely.
The book reads like a beginners writing class with way too much wordiness and a general lack of flow. The dialogue wasn't natural and the characters weren't believable...for example, how many 5 year old girls would say to their mothers, upon being summoned inside from playing, "ok, momma...I'll be in shortly."
It was as if the author was trying to sound literary or at the very least, up her word count! It was very distracting to get that amount of detail in EVERY scene and sentence. Left nothing to the imagination. For instance, it couldn't be that Paige got up to begin her day...this author would instead say,
"Paige pushed aside the covers, stood up and put a pair of shorts on followed by a t-shirt. She then made her way to the bathroom, where she proceeded to close the door, retrieve the toothpaste from the top drawer and brush her teeth. NEXT she peed and went to turn on the shower. She waited for the water to warm up. Once the water warmed up, Paige entered the stall and proceeded to take a shower...."
Every scene was like that!!! See what I mean by wordy and leaves nothing to the imagination?? I mean all three books in the series read like a play-by-play account of mundane daily activities. What's upsetting is that hidden behind the mundane wordiness is a pretty good story with characters you could grow to care for if given the chance!
Find an editor. Rewrite the series into one 400 page novel. Strip all the unnecessary descriptive junk and let the plot weave the story...and have a little faith in your readers ability to fill in the blanks! My goodness...we know what it looks like to brush your teeth and pee in the morning! No need to help us visualize it in detail!!
Paige got on my last nerve in this book. I could not get past her bullying of David to help her be completely stupid. So she uses her heretofore unproven P.I. skills to get a location to search for Chris. And in her infinite "wisdom" decides to search for the survivalist on her on because she grew up liking nature. Um, what? Didn't Chris overpower not just her, but 3 other people just weeks before?
Before that time Paige was headstrong, but she never seemed like an idiot. I could not get over that one decision.
Her voice was authoritative and assured as she spoke. “I mean, think about it, ladies. Yes, all of you underwent some form of physical or emotional abuse, the severity of which is different in each case. You can look to your neighbors on your right and left and I can guarantee you one of them went through something worse than you or they endured it longer than you. So, does that make them more of a victim and you, less of one?” Momma paused a beat to allow what she was saying to be processed by the group.
“The answer is ‘no’, ladies. Regardless of the severity of the trauma, the end result is that the trauma occurred, it affected you negatively, and as a result, you were victimized. But it does not stop with you. Think back to the things that happened to you; now think about the people who first found you, or helped you, or treated your injuries. Think about what it must have been like for a good person to see or hear about what happened, to feel powerless to stop the violent acts they knew were being committed by others on a daily basis. Think about having to see that every day. Those people are also victims. Think about how you feel when you watch the news and a child has been killed or some other horrible tragedy has befallen one person at the hands of another. It hurts us all, it impacts us all, and no matter the severity of the attack or role you play, we are all in this together despite our level of participation.”
She stopped in the center of the group as she said, “We are at a crossroads, ladies, and we have two choices. At this point in our lives, as a group of people affected in some way by the evil and heinous acts of another, we have to choose. Do we choose the path where we let this break us and define us? Will we lay down and die because of what happened to us?” She slowly turned, once again making sure to look at each person. “Or will we choose the path where we pick ourselves up, where we fight against it to get past it and where we come out stronger on the other side?”
The attention of the women was focused solely on Momma. Some seemed hesitant and unsure, while I swore I could see that special spark begin to build in the eyes of the others. “So, what will it be, ladies? Let’s make our choice. It’s time for all of us to stop sitting around wallowing in the events of our past. I will warn you that the road to recovery is not always the easy. We have to fight against those intent on harming us. But, because we are victims together, all of us, we can fight together. We can rebuild together. There is power in numbers.” Momma’s eyes continued to look around the room to meet and hold each and every pair of eyes there. “You have to get angry, ladies. You have to use what most consider a negative emotion as a driving force within you. Do not let the anger consume you, but do let it ignite the fire within you that pushes you forward along that difficult road. Because when you reach the end of that road and finally obtain the life you deserve, you have won that fight and you have triumphed in the face of your abuser.”
My Review
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE this series? In case I haven’t, WELL I DO……
I don’t normally include excerpts or quotes from the book into my review but this book cries for it. I could sit here for hours and try to come up with the correct words to say what the above excerpt says, but I would fail. Yes this book has mystery, intrigue and love, but I hope above all else each reader walks away with the words above planted in your heart and brain. I couldn’t have said the message any better.
Paige finds out the answers she has long to know but it comes at the expense of having to accept the role she played in the past. In order to protect her, her parents had to turn their back on the cause they held dear for years. The dream of having Buddy back has come true, but it comes with nightmares and realizations that our mind does block out events in which we don’t want to remember.
Daemon, ever the constant source of love and control refuses to leave Paige. She pushes and pushes and strikes out at him, but he stands firm in knowing that she is worth the fight. I love this quote by him…..
“Please, Damsel. Let me take on some of the burden you carry. Open up to me and let me in so that I can relieve you of your nightmares.”
How do you not fall in love with a man like that. I found through the second book it has a touch of Fifty Shades as far as woman pushes man, man stands firm to protect woman, but this book is MUCH deeper than Fifty Shades. It has surpassed Fifty on my list of books that must be read over and over. It deals with being a victim and knowing that it doesn’t make you weak, it makes you part of a group. It gives you the strength to stand with others who are victims as well and to march forward and become a strong unit of hope, determination and love. You are not what they did to you, you are what you make of yourself from that experience.
We still haven’t found out how they are going to get the man who attacked her and David and Anne, but we were able to see that her roommates are ok and they are going to recover. In Conflict you will see Paige go toe to toe with Chris, the attacker, and face her terrors and fears from her past. You will also get a chance to see the walls come down a little bit as she learns to accept that Buddy is back and she won’t have the fantasy return she had always dreamed of. He won’t come in riding on a white horse and save her from herself…………or will he in the end? I guess I had better get started on book 3 to see what happens in this story.
This books reads so smooth and so fast, I couldn’t put it down. Even when I had to go to sleep last night I couldn’t stop thinking about Paige and Daemon. The intensity is so high at times, I wanted to scream out loud and I found myself having to take deep breaths a few times to get the heart rate down. The sex is hot, but trust me this book is MUCH more than a hot sex read. It grabs your heart and attention and doesn’t let go. I have to say once again this is one of my top three series ever.
3.5 Stars Early on while reading CONTROL, I had already figured out who Buddy was, yet his identity remains “secret” until the very end of this book. Was Buddy’s true identity supposed to be a huge surprise? Was the revelation supposed to be a shocking twist/curveball? Willis/White is a pro at writing huge, jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring curve balls and twists, so I found this aspect of the storyline difficult to believe. I also became increasingly irritated by Paige’s ongoing need for independence in the extreme. I did however enjoy the storyline in regards to Chris who continues to be a sick psychopath. I might read the next book just to find out happens to him.
**If you haven't read Control, STOP! Conflict is NOT a stand alone book, you really need to read Control first to understand what is going on in this story. However, this isn't a bad thing, Control was a great book and you get to see how it all started from the beginning with Daemon and Paige (links to buy Control and my review of Control are at the bottom of this page, so please scroll down)**
Conflict!! Holy cow, I am impressed! Conflict is book two in the Control series and it blew me away. It is very rare for me to love the second book in a trilogy as much as the first or last book, since they are usually the bridge stories getting the reader ready for the big final book, but I LOVED this story. I am going to say it right here: it was better than Control, and it is currently (as of today) my favorite book I have read in the last month. I have to hand it to M.S. Willis Conflict surpassed my expectations, gave me everything I was hoping for and left me super excited to read what she will do next for the last book, Conquer, coming out later this year.
I don't want to say too much, but I fell in love with Daemon all over again in this book! The reader really gets to spend quality time with Paige and Daemon, getting to see how their relationship is growing, evolving and moving forward. After all these characters went through in book one, it is was nice to see David, Annie and Alex again and watch them push on after the tragic events of Control, trying to find their balance and their new "normal".
M.S. Willis does a great job with dialogue, pacing and giving the readers a real insight into her characters. There are moments I wanted to shake Paige and slap Daemon, but when you deal with such high drama and emotion it is bound to happen. This story has twists and turns, it gives you shocks and moments so hot you might need a fan and at the same time it gives the reader one hell of a ride. Conflict is hard to put down, it moves fast and keeps you constantly going through emotions (anger, fear, lust, laughter, sadness and love) and will leave you desperate for Conquer (not a cliffhanger hangover but a I NEED MORE NOW kind of thing).
I HIGHLY recommend reading Conflict, it was a brilliant follow up to Control. M.S. Willis continues to knock my socks off with her writing and she will be an automatic buy, no matter what the price of the book is, author from now on (for me at least). Now, hit that 1-click button and go see what Daemon and Paige are up to for yourself, I will be sitting here waiting for Conquer (coming September 2013).
Conflict is the continuation of Paige and Daemon’s story from Control. I have to say this now and be done with it (at least for this review) … Paige is an idiot. Don’t get me wrong because I really like her character. She’s a spitfire who refuses to let recent events pull her down. I loved that she channels her anger to move forward and that she continues to stand up for herself. BUT… the fact that a woman who is a private investigator is completely incapable of putting two and two together irritates me to no end. Her dreams harken back to her youth and she wonders – literally wonders – what her subconscious is trying to tell her. Even as she holds evidence of who Daemon is in the palm of her hand, she doesn’t … put it … together. I don’t think the universe could have given her a clearer sign as to who Daemon was and she still didn’t get it. It wasn’t until Daemon actually spoke the words out loud to her that she got it. Good grief! It’s frustrating because Paige is not a stupid woman – reckless, yes; stupid, no.
Yet despite this HUGE hole in Paige’s intelligence and judgment, I loved this book. Honestly it makes no sense to me how I can love Paige so much despite this oversight, yet I do. Nor does it make sense that I still continue to love the series to the point of addiction, but I do. Normally, my thinking that the main character is an idiot would translate into me not liking the book, yet Ms. Willis has managed to snare my attention and keeps me invested in Paige’s story so that I keep coming back for more. Granted, the fact that Daemon is sex-on-a-stick probably doesn’t hurt, but that alone is not enough to keep me invested in the characters. I must give credit where credit is due – the author. Ms. Willis has managed to craft a sequel that adds even more suspense, danger, romance, and freaking hot sex to an already exciting series. Conflict was a great addition to the Control series and I am looking forward to the next book, Conquer, to find out more about Daemon’s past, whether or not Paige continues making foolhardy decisions regarding her safety, just how mouthwateringly dominant Daemon is in the bedroom, and just how far Chris is going to take things before the cops catch him (and yes, by god, they better catch him). Needless to say this is going to be a long week before I get to embark on the final leg of the journey.
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Angela at Crystal's Many Reviewers!
One issue with series is that usually when the first book is FREAKIN AWESOME!!! You have to worry that the following books won’t be able to live up to the expectations that you have for it. That has happened to me several times throughout my reading history. I am really excited to say that that is NOT the problem with Conflict.
Although there weren’t as many “funny parts” as there were in Control, I think that M.S. did a great balance between the humor and the suspense. This book had a more serious tone to it than the first book. But seeing as what was happening in this one, I still enjoyed it immensely!!
And of course what could go wrong when you have David, who is being his normal joking self, and of course the CRAZY sexual tension between both Paige and Daemon? Let me say, there were parts of this book where I wanted to smack Paige upside the head! If I had a guy like Daemon wanting to be with me, I don’t think my clothes could fall off quick enough!
Let’s not forget the drama either. With Annie having gone through what she did, although you know that it is horrible, was written in a way that you could understand what she was going through. In my opinion, that part was very well done. Chris’s character, Gosh I don’t even want him in the same paragraph as Annie, was done to a point where I was kinda freaked out a little bit. Wondering what exactly goes through M.S.’s head, and making sure I don’t get on her bad side! You could feel the evil that was pouring off of him during the course of the story.
But even with that aside, I do think that the tension did end up helping more in the long run. Paige was able to learn more about herself and Daemon during the time she was torturing him, (along with me!). The ending of the book, completely caught me off guard. I couldn’t believe it when I read it and let me say, it was great! I really enjoyed the way that M.S. wrote this story.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
This is the second book in the Control series. I loved it!
Paige Stone is a strongly stubborn individual. I loved this character's determination to find Chris after the brutal attack. Unfortunately, she is a bit reckless at times, which nearly gave me a heart attack, never mind Daemon!
Daemon Pierce is sexy, handsome and downright ticked off with Paige! I originally thought he was a bit of a jerk. However, by the end of the first book, I was smitten! I love his protective streak, but he tends to be a bit overbearing at times.
The story continues from the end of the first book, and it is a real page turner - I struggled to put the book down! One thing I love about this story is how the characters come alive! David is still one of my favourites - he makes me laugh with his antics. However, Chris is on the other side of the scale - he made my skin crawl! Just thinking about him makes me shudder! The chemistry between Paige and Daemon is explosive, to say the least! The pages fairly spark and sizzle, even though sometimes all they are doing is sitting in the same room. It was nice to have had my suspicions confirmed about something towards the end of the book though! This confirmation made me want to read the next book, Conquer, as soon as possible!
M.S. Willis has written a fantastic New Adult romance that was disturbing in places and touching in others. I love her writing style, which is fast paced, and the story flowed beautifully. I am adding her to my Favourite Authors list!
Due to some scenes of violence and those of a sexual nature, I do not recommend this book (or series) to younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love hot and spicy romances. - Lynn Worton
Conflict is the second book in the Control Series and thank goodness it's not the last. For obvious reasons I am.in love with this series. I just read the first book Control and I was so glad I had Conflict waiting for me on my kindle. It was just yelling at me to read and I sure am happy I did. This book spoke to me. I did feel a definite connection to the story. I now am emotionally invested in everything that is Paige and Daemon.
If you haven't read the first book I highly suggest you stop reading and go get it. Also because I don't want you reading any spoilers and getting mad at me. So Chris has left his aftermath. Paige and her roommates are trying to move on after their attacks. It would be easier if psychopath Chris was behind bars. Daemon has vowed to keep Paige safe. It really is an experience for the both if them. Paige and Daemons feelings are undeniable and throw in danger and mystery you have the perfect recipe for some major explosive action.
Paige is a very strong and determined women. I truly enjoy watching Daemon break down her walls. He has to be the only person willing to do that for her and that is why they work so well together. They balance one another out and without realizing it their hearts are in it. Even though Paige has guarded her heart for a lost love. She can finally see a future with him and not one with her all alone. Which is so scary for the both of them.
This book along with book one Control are a must read. After reading them you will be excited to read more. I am for sure.
I love when authors don't waste too much time recapping what's happened in the previous book(s), and instead pick up right where the story left off. It's greatly appreciated, at least by me, and that's exactly what M.S. Willis did here!
There isn't much I can say without giving away key parts of the story, so to put it simply, Conflict is pretty awesome. The intensity & drama of Control flows right into this next book making it nearly impossible to put it down. There are plenty of twists & turns...and revelations to keep you on the edge of your seat! Not to mention lots more of Daemon & Paige and their super hot chemistry. The comedic relief was present more so this time around and it helped balance out the mood of the book keeping it from being downright depressing. (It's a serious subject matter after all). Each character is true to their description & definitely believable: Paige is a bad ass heroine, Daemon is the jaw dropping alpha male, Chris is the psychotic villain.
I really like the fact that this series has an underlying message about being lost (versus broken), and that there is always more than one victim in every situation. There's a positive message amongst all the chaos about survival & strength, that shouldn't be ignored. I think this was a perfect touch to the story, so kudos to Ms. Willis for tackling this subject and incorporating it so smoothly into the story.
This book picks up where Control (Book 1) left off. Paige isn't liking how long it is taking the cops to find Chris. So of course the PI in her has to take control of the situation and find him herself. Some of the questions from Control become clear at the end of this book as well.
There were parts with gut wrenching pain, scary parts, and plenty of love scenes. M. S. Willis has captivated me with this series. I am ready to read the next book please. She has a way of pulling you into the story and making you feel like you were there. There was a scene between Chris and Paige where I felt like I was there. It was awesome.
David hasn't lost his touch after the 'Incident' in book 1. He is still by far my favorite character. His antics did a lot to lighten the feel of the book. He is the funniest and most intriguing character in the book. But then of course there is Daemon who is a mystery most of this book. Not only that but he is pure hotness!
M. S. Willis has not let her readers down so far and I highly recommend this series to everybody. There are touchy subjects but while some of it is heavy and deep there are a lot of light and funny parts. Not to mention a couple kind of steamy scenes. She blends them all together well and leaves you wanting more. Can't wait to read Conquer!
We pick up where Control left off. Paige and her friends are recovering in the hospital from the horrific attack from the obsessed and crazy Chris. Paige has moved in with Daemon. Paige is trying to keep this as a roommate status and Daemon is determined to make Paige his. I love the banter between these 2 during certain scenes. Paige has a lot of self discovery in this book with things from the past. She also becomes a rock for David and Annie who went through this attack. She deals with the blame but comes out strong. Paige's stubbornness does get the best of her. She becomes reckless while she is determined to take Chris down by herself. Daemon has a major secret to unravel. The whole story was intense and amazing. I could not put this down. I loved how we got see more of David in this book. He was so loveable and I just wanted to hug him.
M.S Willis does an amazing job in this second book. I loved it. It left off at a great place for the next book. Conquer will be the 3rd book due out in September. I can't wait to read it. There are so many questions I need answered and it looks like we will get to see a little bit more from Daemon's POV.
Well, the second installment was not as good as the opening of this story. Sadly Paige does not learn from her mistake of controlling every situation and again fails to see how her decisions really put her friends in danger. However, that is finally spelled out to her in this book. I don't like Paige but it didn't stop me from disliking this story. Daemon's eyebrow worked harder than his mouth which became annoying "eyebrows shot up, eyebrow knitted," over and over again. I would have liked to have a bit more emotion and history and just plain conversation between Paige and Daemon. No one seemed to work or earn money or do anything all day everyday so conversation and dialogue was missed.
But, I still like this book and will read till the end of the series and will certainly continue reading M.S Willis books. This story could have been more intense and less descriptive. I blame editing here more than writing style. Would recommend this series.
I was very impressed with the debut book in this series. With it being so amazing I wondered if M.S. Willis would be able to keep it up. Guess what? This one is just as amazing. She continued to build the characters so that you fell in love with them each a little more. You can feel the emotion through out the whole book and it keeps you guessing as to what will happen. When you think you have it all figured out.....BOOM you're wrong. Didn't see that coming! There are so many directions this series can take and I can't wait to see where it goes because honestly I don't even want to try to guess. Once again she has impressed me with her writing talent and I know without a doubt that the next book in the series will be just as great if not better. This is a series and author you want to keep an eye on.
Conflict is the second book in the Control series, picking up where Control (book 1) leaves off. Paige continues to be obstinate in her relentless pursuit of her attacker, Chris. Daemon wants to keep Paige safe, but, she feels like a prisoner, which makes her strike out more by defying him. In this book we find out more about Daemon and his past, as well as the depth of his feelings for Paige. Will she be able to trust anyone, especially him? Will Chris finally be caught and brought to justice? Will the sex continue to be hot with Daemon trying to dominate Paige in the bedroom? You have to read the book to find out. I enjoyed this book. It was intense and I had to stop myself from skimming ahead to see what was going to happen next. I hope that Book 3 comes out soon because I can't wait to see what happens next! 4 out of 5! {babusbookshelf.blogspot.com}
I truly enjoyed this book and I have suggested this one, as well as Control, to all of my friends as a need to read. Once again, I felt the emotional roller coaster that I had experienced in Book 1, Control. This book grabbed ahold of me from page 1 and did not let go. Now that it is finished, I really want to read book 3 to see how it all turns out. With the long list of characters I felt so much that they had gone through and I wanted to cry, rejoice, punch, laugh, and seek justice with them all. As an avid reader, this series is one that I will continue to read over and over again. I felt as if I was a part of their group of friends and I didn't want to let them go. I am anticipating the third book in the series. September cannot get here quick enough!
What an absolutely amazing series! Let me just say, series are probably one of my favorite things! Especially ones that are a story continuation and not just new characters. Also, I love a great series that doesn't leave you with some major cliffhanger but rather closes a scene and starts you back up again.
With M.S. Willis' Control Series, she does just that! The story is flawless, the characters are entertaining and realistic, and the emotion and depth of the novels is apparent. With each book, you grow to love Paige and Daemon more and more!
Another Awesome book.. And once again I relate so closely to Paige and the way she handles things. The men in the book may not like it but she is a strong willed and stubborn female, which I love! Part of me felt like we didn't make a whole lot of progress in the lives of the characters. We still didn't get resolution from the way the first book ended, but we did get a learn a lot about Paige's life and she learns a major secret that has been under her nose through the first book and most of the second that spins her for a HUGE loop.
Over all, another fantastic read from this author. 5 Pens, 5 Smoking Hot need new panties puffs of steam!
Great and enjoyable continuation of the first book, and good development of the heroine. The romance is developed and intensity heightened. Daemon remains swoon worthy and holds on tight to his alpha persona and masculinity, while intensifying the romance sweetness. The series probably should of ended here, but then it would rush the ending. At least by the end of the series, you get a perfectly developed ending without being disappointed, although it gets dragged out unnecessarily. Thus this second book becomes the climax of the series, whereas book one was the lead and anticipation, and book three becomes the deflation to the conclusion.
The book is just freakin' amazing. I love this series so much! I was sucked into all of the twists and turns and OH MY GOD! I loved David so much in this book. He had me crackin' up. I'm glad we dive deeper into Paige and Daemon's relationship in this book and questions that had me on edge in the last book are slowly being answered. Of course though Ms. Willis leaves us begging for more at the end which I cannot wait for Conquer to make its appearance on my kindle because I am excited to see Daemon present his pov! Excellent 5 stars!
This is the second book in the Control series. Paige is now having to live with Daemon, at least until Chris is captured. She struggles with keeping her independence while Daemon insists on not letting her out of his sight. Daemon is also constantly trying to get Paige to want to be more than a "roommate." As they continue to live together, Daemon and Paige also share more of their past with one another.
There is one more book in this series. I'm anxious to see how it ends and I think I liked this second book better than the first!!
I'm still enjoyed the story. But I have to admit, I've decided I don't care for Paige. She annoys me bad. She's over the top with her carelessness... I can't me more in love with Daemon tho. I decided to keep going with the third book because I feel kind of committed to the series. I'm ready for Chris to be caught, and can't wait to see what happens with Paige and Daenom not that the secret is out.
Amazing follow-up to Control. I was given this book as an ARC and all I can say was, "Wow!" Daemon is a definite hottie. Paige has met her match with him. Their need for each other is very powerful...you can't help but route for them! If you like a steamy romance, then this is definitely for you! I highly recommend it and can't wait for the next book. Brava, M.S!
Ok, there is one big reveal in this book which we all knew was coming. Paige and her friends recover from their attack in the first book. The stalker is still out there. Come on! I thought the author was pushing it when she let this story drag on to 2 books. But to go on to a 3rd? Sorry, I 'm not buyin'.
These two books are NOT getting the recognition they deserve! For those who don't like cliffhangers, you don't have to worry about that with either book!
Conflict picks up a few weeks from where Control ended.I absolutely loved it and cannot wait for Conquer!
I liked this book much better than book 1 even though that was still enjoyable. More intense in angst and suspense. I am eager to get Daemon's full story! Glad I won't have to wait too long for book 3. 5 solid stars
