And she thought the bridesmaids dresses were her biggest problem…
Promise Harbor Wedding , Book 4
Allison Ralston would rather be anywhere other than this wedding. Even if the wedding is hers. Especially since the wedding is hers.
But Allie’s determined to restore her family’s happiness, and if tying the knot with longtime family friend, Josh Brewster, is the way to do it, then she'll walk down that aisle, toss that bouquet and drink that champagne. Oh, she'll definitely drink the champagne.
There’s only one thing that could get Gavin Montgomery back to Promise Harbor. And she’s about to say I do to another man. Now he’s back to claim what’s his—even if he has to do it in the middle of her wedding.
Allie is shocked—and okay, a little turned on—when Gavin literally sweeps her off her feet. Safe in his arms, she succumbs to fatigue, stress, and yes, the champagne, only to wake up in his bed. In Alaska.
Now that he’s put four thousand miles between Allie and all her responsibilities, Gavin’s determined to show her that they can make a life together. If he has his way, the next wedding Allie will be planning will be theirs.
Contains a guy so in love he’s willing to break up the wedding of the season, a bride who just needs to get to, well, anywhere else, and enough hot sex to take them from New England to Alaska and back again.
Erin Nicholas is the New York Times bestselling author of over sixty sexy contemporary romances. Her stories have been described as toe-curling, enchanting, steamy and fun.
She lives in the Midwest with her husband who only wants to read the sex scenes in her books, her kids who will never read the sex scenes in her books, and family and friends who say they’re shocked by the sex scenes in her books (yeah, right!).

I don’t really give a rat-fuck that there are some who think I ‘owe’ an explanation for my opinion. Nope, nada, and not sorry about it.
Sometimes I may add notes to explain what my opinions are based on, and sometimes I don’t. I do this for me, on my books, in my library and I don’t ‘owe’ any special snowflakes a thing. Fuck off if you don’t like it and stop reading my shit.
Particularly given the ‘modifications’ to reader’s personal content going on (and outright censorship), unless particularly motivated I will not comment in detail.
It would help if GR was forthcoming in the new ‘appropriate’ and would make a site-wide announcement delineating the new focus from a reader-centric site to one that is now for authors and selling.
I didn't look forward to this one. I didn't like what the other books in this series hinted about Allie's character and it was, of course, confirmed in her story. I found her really annoying and boring. Although I liked Gavin very much (well, who wouldn't, with a guy who loves animals and is sweet and caring and all that...), he couldn't carry the whole story all by himself, because supporting characters weren't that well-written. Don't get me wrong, they had potential to be great. Sadly, that potential wasn't just utilized. I was really annoyed by the end of the book, because there were too many unsaid things and "secrets" from their pasts (and I'm not just talking about main characters here).
Finally, it's the bride's story and she isn't what I expected. Am I disappointed? Yes, a little bit. I was going to like her. Seriously. But too bad it didn't happen. In fact, she is the least favourite. Other readers may love her but not me. And this is just me, biased on my part. I'm sorry but I'm not.
There is something about Allie that ticked me off. I don't like her. I tried to like her, ergo the reason I went further in this book to read more of her, to see if there is something to like about her but no, I couldn't find any. Hey wait. I think there is one. A part where she was with the dog and puppies. The imagination in my head, it was beautiful and adorable.
As for Gavin, he is like most of Alpha guys. I, of course, did not like him at first because he stole the bride but I came around anyway. I started to like him and the way he perked up whenever he talked about work was kind of fascinating since I am truly understand his field of work. I felt bad for him too because Allie gave a hard time.
Done with this book means I am done with this series. I am going to miss all the characters. Most definitely am going to miss Greta and Hank. They are amazing and they are my favourite couple. So...yeah, that's about it. I guess.
I liked this book, but the heroine annoyed me, so I couldn't give it an additional star. I loved Gavin, he was a wonderful guy, any girl's dream, so I couldn't understand why Allie treated him so shabbily. Her obsession with her family was so misplaced, like really, they couldn't survive without her? And it was this attitude that hurt Gavin all the time. I would have preferred a more realistic problem with the couple. Aside from this, I loved the setting in Alaska, and loved seeing the conclusion of all the couples in the previous books in the series, all together, sharing a social moment. I also loved the situations between Allie and Lydia, they were so funny. Loved the "duct tape" moment. Also loved all the yummy steamy scenes. But above all, liked the growing up that Allie and Gavin went through in order to be able to have their HEA.
Allie wasn't what I was expecting and Gavin was exactly what I was expecting. After getting to know Allie I understood better why she did what she did.
I tweeted about this story as I read and you can find all my comments under the hashtag #hitched
Hitched is the fourth and final story in the Promise Harbor Wedding series and my absolute favorite. We finally get to see who Gavin and Allie really are, and why he was not willing to let her marry Josh. Gavin and Allie may not have made many people happy due to what happened at the wedding, but I could not help cheering for them as they take some time to deal with all the emotions of trying to decide what they really want, and whether it includes them being together. We also get to follow up with everyone from the previous stories to see what they are up to.
Allie is about to marry the best guy in the world but the only problem is that she loves him as a friend, not as a husband. She’s only loved one man, but because she was taught that family always comes first she walked away from him a few years ago. She has taken care of her father and brothers on her own since the loss of her mother shortly after leaving that one man, but she is so tired of being responsible for everyone else. She’s been dating a longtime family friend for quite a while, and he knows that taking care of her family is very important to her. Josh has always known exactly how to help her take care of them when she could not do it on her own, and he’s always been there every time she’s needed him. When he proposed marriage to her she accepted knowing it was the best thing for everyone.
Gavin left Promise Harbor many years ago, and swore that nothing would ever make him go back. He’s making a great life for himself in Alaska, but when he hears that Allie is getting married he knows that she is the one reason that would make him return. He has never stopped loving her, and there is nothing he won’t do to stop the wedding. Can he convince Allie to leave with him before she says the words that will keep them apart forever?
Allie is so shocked to see Gavin that she cannot believe he is real until he literally sweeps her off of her feet and carries her away. Exhaustion, stress and intoxication finally overtake her, and when she wakes up it’s to find out she’s in his bed, in Alaska. Is there any chance that Gavin can reawaken her feelings for him, and make her realize that she wants to be right here with him for the rest of their lives?
This is an absolute wonderful ending to the Promise Harbor Series. Erin Nicholas did an amazing job answering the question "Where's Allie?". And Gavin was that answer. Oh, how I love an Erin Nicholas hero!
There are four books in this series that takes one event (a wedding) and shows it to readers from four different points of view.
This final installment of the Promise Harbor Series is about the run away bride, Allie and the love of her life, Gavin. We meet Allie and Gavin in the first book in the series, Jilted. We are left only knowing that Gavin has swept Allie away. In Hitched, Allie is happy to let Gavin distract her from the stresses for the moment, but Gavin wants to prove to Allie that he can be more than a happy distraction. He can be the man that she depends on for everything, all the time.
I love Erin Nicholas's voice. One of the things that I can always depend on when reading one of her stories is that voice. You are not simply reading the story, you feel like you are experiencing the story. Another thing I can always count on is her humor. Who doesn't love a book that can make you giggle and laugh out loud? And most of all I always fall in love with her heroes. Hitched was no different.
I highly recommend this book and the entire Promise Harbor Series.
Hitched is the 4th and final instalment of the Promise Harbor Wedding series.
After the groom (Jilted by Kelly Jamieson), the matron of honour (Bolted by Meg Benjamin) and the best man (Busted by Sydney Somers), we finally get to see the bride’s version of the events in Hitched is, and I have to tell you I started Hitched with some trepidation because of Allie, the runaway bride and the heroine of Hitched. Why you might ask. Well for two reasons: 1) she left at the altar her fiancé, a nice guy through and through and disappeared for weeks without word to anyone, and 2) because she was about to get married with her ex-best friend’s true love. But let’s see if Hitched managed to redeem Allie in my eyes by showing us her side of the story…
From the previous instalments I already suspected that Allie and Josh’s match was rather a marriage of convenience based on friendship and affection rather than passionate love, and here we were really shown how that was exactly the case. To Allie Josh acted more like a responsible, reliable big brother coming to the rescue, who was always there to lend his support and strength when the going got tough, and poor Allie didn’t have it easy by losing her mom to cancer and having to take care of her family despite her own grief. I could see and understand how she took Josh as her escape from all the tiring responsibilities weighing her down, how nice it was to share her load with someone sympathetic and kind. I get that he was her rock and I even get why they would decide to get married, but they had absolutely no chemistry at all. It was like they were siblings or cousins.
As for the unforgivable breach of the Girlfriend Code by hooking up and almost marrying her best friend’s love I have to say that Allie is acquitted: Josh was there as a shoulder to cry on and carry her burdens after her mom’s death, and before developing anything with him she asked Devon whether it bothered her if she got together with Josh. Since Allie was in a daze following her mom’s death she didn’t pick up on the subtle clues in Devon’s answer, when Devon said it was fine by her, she took that at face value. So in that aspect I absolve her as well.
But, somehow despite her justifying these offences, Allie was still a heroine I didn’t grow to like much. She had that odd mixture of martyr and egocentric whining/vulnerability that although telegraphed to my brain that I should feel sorry for her (or at least be sympathetic) since she didn’t have it easy, just didn’t resonate with my heart and she mostly frustrated/irritated me.
Gavin, the hero on the other hand was a dream come true. He was wonderfully intense, determined and dedicated in showing and convincing Allie that he has become the man she needed. He was warm-hearted, tender and his powerful love, devotion and need to be there for Allie moved me.
“Being with you, right now, is better than anything I’ve had for a really long time,” she told him honestly. Couldn’t that be enough? “I know.” His confidence was another thing that had always drawn her. That and his laid-back attitude. “But I don’t just want to be better. I want to be the best.” “You are—” “No,” he said, pushing himself up off the rug. “But I will be. The best thing in your life, the best thing to ever happen to you.”
“I’m trying to talk you into letting me show you that there’s more to me than roller-skating and eating dessert first.” He wasn’t looking at her but she could see the strain in his face. She’d always loved the roller-skating and dessert part of being with Gavin. But…this seemed important to him. Josh wasn’t a big dessert eater, period. “But I love dessert,” she said weakly. “You think of me for fun, but I don’t want to just be the extra stuff. I want to be…the main meal, what you need most. Hell, I want to be your vegetables.”
One of my favourite part of Hitched was reading about Allie and Gavin’s history and all the little traditions they had back then, Erin Nicholas’ typical chuckle-out-loud humour shone through those memories. It was clear they had lots of fun and that Gavin gave his best to try to cheer Allie up, even when he was younger and had no clue how to go about it:
“Do you remember the time you made up naughty versions of fairy tales for me?” Somehow she could tell he was smiling when he said, “Of course.” “I especially liked the Cinderella story where she and Prince Charming got it on in the broom closet before midnight.” She felt him turn toward her. “And, of course, how Hansel propositioned the witch to get him and Gretel out of trouble,” she said. Gavin lifted his hand to her head, stroking her hair. Allie kept her eyes shut, breathing deep of his scent, which was even more energizing than the fresh, natural air. “And who could forget what the frog really needed from the princess to turn human?” “What if I tell you that I’ve come up with a few stories of my own?” she asked. “It won’t matter.” “You don’t think I can distract you with a story about Snow White and the seven dwarfs?” “You’re going to turn a beloved childhood story into a gang bang?” She smiled. “Well, I hardly think any dwarfs would be grumpy or sleepy if that was going on. You have a dirty mind.” “Yes, I do. More so when you’re around.” “One of your most endearing traits, in my opinion.” His eyes narrowed slightly. “I know.”
The chemistry between Allie and Gavin was undeniable. And what pulled at my heartstrings was the deeper, emotional connection they shared, or at least that Gavin wanted to share with Allie:
“What are you doing?” she finally asked, turning to him. “You don’t want to go to Promise Harbor.” “No, I don’t,” he said honestly. “Then why are you here?” The first words that came to mind made the most sense. “Because I need to hold your hand, and I can’t do that unless I’m in Promise Harbor with you.”
"Gavin turned his attention fully on Allie. “You will call me,” he said firmly. “I might suck at this at first, but you will call me and give me a chance. And I’ll get better at it.” Something warm spread through her chest, and she felt the vise that had been squeezing her heart loosen. She smiled. “A chance at what?” she teased lightly. She actually really appreciated his honesty about not knowing what he was doing exactly. The bumbling attempt outside his comfort zone meant more than all the perfect words and actions from everyone else in the past two years. “The chance to be there,” he said with a little grimace."
Verdict: Hitched was a nice conclusion to the series and I was glad to see Allie’s side of the story. Although she managed to redeem herself when it came to the charges brought against her in the previous novels since I now understand her reasons and her side of the story better, yet she just isn’t a heroine I much liked. On the one hand she acted like a self-sacrificing martyr while on the other hand only seeing the world centred around her (it may sound contradictory but she managed to realize them both). She just read like a weak heroine and I couldn’t grow to like her character. However, Gavin, the hero was swoon-worthy. I loved his determination and intensity. His deep love and devotion for Allie is what made Hitched such a great love story. I found that at the end things were tied off way too conveniently with a bow making everyone happy and in love, and thus leaving me with a pinch of disappointment at the easy way out.
Plot: 8/10 Characters: 7/10 - loved Gavin but Allie irritated me too much Writing: 8/10 Ending: 7/10 - it was tied off way too conveniently with a bow making everyone happy and in love Cover: 8/10
The last in the Promise Harbor Wedding quartet, this is Allie and Gavin's story. Gavin stomps in just before Allie exchanges vows with her fiance Josh, and whisks her off to his place in Alaska.
Allie's been the caregiver so much of her life. And after her mother died, she's stepped it up even more, making sure her brothers and father are well organized and cared for. But Gavin sees that no one's taking care of her, and he intends to be the one who does.
The two of them had dated on and off, sharing a string of great times, both in and out of the bedroom. But Allie sees Gavin as the fun-time guy. He's the best at giving her memorable "Calgon, take me away" moments, but he isn't a part of her day to day routine.
Hitched gives us the chance to see what happens when these two worlds collide. How the ones who love us most sometimes don't see us best, while sometimes they allow us to be who we need to be even when it isn't best for them.
Ms Nicholas writes such real people--Allie and Gavin and their families and friends made me laugh and tugged on my heartstrings and made me sigh.
Hitched is a terrific story on its own, but this entire quartet is fabulous and well worth reading.
Bravo, Ms Nicholas, Ms Somers, Ms Benjamin, and Ms Jamieson!!
I looked forward to the Promise Harbor series for months and months, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the books, and I’ve enjoyed reading each one and despite the common thread through the books, they are each very different. As I read the last book in the series, Hitched, I really respected the uniqueness of each book. I was lucky enough to interview the four authors of this series and realized what an undertaking this series was. The fact that they pulled off this highly entertaining and fun series is amazing, but the best part of all they did it with smiles on their faces, kept the sense of humor intact, and they wrote four pretty awesome books. I feel for Erin because she’s the caboose so to speak in this series; her book has to tie up the loose ends and tie all four books together neatly, on top of that her heroine is a woman who left a perfectly nice (and hot) guy at the altar and her hero is the one that showed up to break the wedding up in the first place. I read a few reviews of Kelly Jamieson’s Jilted, the first one in the series, and there were people saying they didn’t even want to read Hitched because they were angry with Allie for leaving Josh at the altar. To them I ask, did you REALLY read Jilted? Because believe me Josh is much better off because Allie left him at the altar. So while yes, maybe she should have realized it before the “big” day, it really was the right thing to do and in Hitched we see just why it was the best move for everyone involved.
Gavin Montgomery set tongues to wagging once again when he stormed the church and took off with his ex-girlfriend and the current bride to be of another man, Allie Ralston. When he left Promise Harbor he never intended to return but he couldn’t let Allie marry another man not when he knew she still was in love with him. I have to admit, the whole breaking up the wedding and hauling the bride out thing is one of those moments you always hope to witness at some point in your life. I mean, come on…it’s romantic, crazy, and very hot to think someone will go to that length for someone they love. In this one move Gavin won me over and the more we discover about who he was and the man he’s become makes him a world class hero in my book. I love that he refused to let his past dictate his future. I admire that even though it broke his heart, he was a wee bit selfish and decided to live out his dream and his dedication to his wildlife work, his patients, and their owners is to be commended. I can see how important it is that he be taken seriously and that he’s dedicated and determined to make a good life for himself, so I’ll admit Allie’s somewhat cavalier attitude towards him disturbed me. Allie has some serious issues that kept me from completely liking her. At times she seemed immature and somewhat spoiled, however I can’t help but wonder if she simply didn’t have anyone in her life to slap her upside the head and tell her she was too full of herself and needed to step back and reassess. Like I said before, I have no issues with her dating her ex-best friend’s old boyfriend or even leaving him at the altar because obviously they weren’t right for one another. They were thrown into a relationship based on friendship, grief, and convenience and neither she nor Josh had the sense to step back and make sure they truly wanted one another for life. What concerned me most was that she refused to see Gavin for the man he is today and what he has to offer. I do understand where she is coming from and why she is the way she is and I can sympathize with her somewhat and she did redeem herself towards the end of the book so while she isn’t my favorite heroine, she didn’t ruin the book for me. In fact between Gavin, the Alaskan based characters especially Lydia, and the return of all the characters from the first three books I was pretty much in heaven.
I really loved seeing the characters from all four books interact with one another. Sometimes very easily, other times a little stiff but there was a sense of rightness to it all. You could tell that this is a group of people who will be there for each other no matter what, no matter how many miles separate them, and through good and bad. So much good came out of these scenes but I think one of the most important things is the rekindling of Allie’s relationship with her friend Devon. Their reunion was quite entertaining and I don’t think there are many women out there who don’t understand how important it is to have that one friend with whom you can share everything.
There is so much that is good about this book; the intimate scenes between Gavin and Allie were exciting and often spontaneous not to mention scorching hot. It did not escape my notice that both Gavin and Allie were somewhat guilty of not really knowing the other person despite the previous time they spent together. It was sometimes comical and often heartbreaking as they realized how they really failed at being “there” for each other, which gave me hope they won’t repeat those past mistakes. The insight of Lydia into Allie’s psyche, Gavin’s life, and Allie’s family was spot on and often humorous. She is one of those characters that just grabbed me and I would truly love to know more about her.
Hitched is an excellent ending to what has been an entertaining, fun, and intriguing series. I loved reading books from three of my favorite authors and adding a new favorite to my list. I appreciate the planning and thought that went in to writing a series of this type and seeing the wedding scene from four different views added a unique perspective to a difficult situation. While this book wrapped up this series nicely, I can’t help but want stories for the rest of the Promise Harbor characters and those left back in Alaska…so come on ladies, get right on that next set of books!
3.75 stars - My review cross-posted from Joyfully Reviewed
Allie would rather be anywhere else on the planet than at her own wedding. But she’s sure marriage to longtime family friend Josh will be the key to making both of their families happy. So sick and miserable at the altar, Allie gets the shock of a lifetime when the man she loves – not her groom – literally sweeps her off her feet and out the door.
Gavin has loved Allie or years and when she drunkenly calls him before her wedding, he knows she’s unhappy. Gavin let Allie go once, but he’s not about to stand by and watch her marry someone else. What can a man in love do, but steal the bride from a wedding and take her thousands of miles away from her life?
For Allie, a trip to Alaska with Gavin feels like a break from reality, but she knows she has to return to Promise Harbor and her family soon. Still, she can’t resist the freedom living with Gavin offers, and she’s determined to enjoy it while she can. But will Gavin be able to convince her that – despite all their differences, the weight of the past, and the pressures of the future – he’s the only man she should be marrying?
Even true love needs a helping hand in Hitched. The Promise Harbor Wedding series comes to a satisfying end when the runaway bride is swept off to a beautiful, small town that'll make you want to fly to Alaska.
Of all the books in the Promise Harbor Wedding series, this is the only one I was wary of reading. I liked Josh so much, I wasn't sure how author Erin Nicholas would make me like the woman who ditched him at the altar. Fortunately, Ms. Nicholas was more than up to the task of making Allie a likeable heroine. Allie wants to do the right thing, wants to make her family happy, but she's been doing so at the expense of herself. Her tumultuous relationship with Gavin was something she always kept separate from the rest of her life, and she even sacrificed that to try and do what she thought would please others. Running off with Gavin is the first thing she does for herself, and it's a good thing (and not only because we know that Josh found his true love in Jilted). In Alaska, Allie not only reconnects with Gavin, she finds her inner strength and comes into her own. Though at times she almost hits martyr territory, it’s part of the journey. Watching Allie grow as a character was quite possibly my favorite thing about Hitched.
Gavin and Allie's romance is filled with ups and downs, as Gavin pushes Allie to choose a life with him when she's not ready to change her life so dramatically. Gavin is pushy, but he's not selfish. He can see that Allie is better away from her family and the responsibility that's literally making her sick. All in all, Gavin is a pretty fantastic hero, and I was cheering for him every step of the way. Love has never been a problem for Gavin and Allie, but it takes both of them finally opening up their minds to each other's points of view that gives them what they need. That, and a little help from secondary characters, makes Hitched a satisfying story.
I loved reading Hitched by Erin Nicholas, which is the final book in this series and was well worth the wait. Readers have previously seen this story's hero, Gavin stop Allie's wedding to Josh in the prior books in dramatic fashion. I, for one, loved that and it really captured my attention. Besides, I thought it was really romantic that Gavin would go to such lengths to stop this wedding without any qualms about the consequences.
Let me tell you, Gavin was the reason why I loved this story so much. He was sexy, strong and would do anything to be with the woman he loved. Gavin wanted to prove to Allie that he was serious about taking their relationship to the next level which included marriage. He did everything to show that it was no longer just sex and fun times anymore. Gavin did not want to just be the "go-to" guy when Allie was feeling bad. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of sex between them and it was totally hot! Gavin just didn't want their relationship to be defined only by this.
I will admit it took me awhile to "like" Allie and even wondered why Gavin even loved her. She seemed to be a bit selfish, weak and whiny and needed more backbone. I felt like she kept on using the same excuse over and over again. She actually got on my nerves until somewhere in the middle of the story. I finally understood her more and could sympathize when she started to open her eyes and finally see how much Gavin loved her and the lengths he would go to have a future together. The author did a great job creating the backstory so readers could see what the reasons were for her behavior and actions. I actually found myself rooting for Gavin and Allie to get their happy ending.
I enjoyed he friendships portrayed in this series and I especially loved Gavin and Hayley's relationship which was my favorite. It was great to see a man and woman be best friends and have each other's back when things were tough.
I have loved reading each book in the Promise Harbor Wedding series in which four of the Nine Naughty Novelist authors wrote from one of the character's POV. Since I love reading series, this was the perfect way for me to read stories for the first time by three of these authors; I've only read Kelly Jamieson up to this point. Of course, I've followed and tweeted with them but haven't had a chance to read their books on my long TBR list. I am so glad I finally did and will definitely be reading more of their books.
synopsis: allison would do anything for her family, including get married to a man that she doesn't truely love. she is about to get married to her best friend, josh, but she doesn't want to be at the wedding. instead, she drunk calls her ex-boyfriend in alaska and he shows up to stop the wedding and whisk ally away. he takes her to alaska and as she recovers from stress and alcohol poisoning, gavin believes that his life has finally come around. whenever ally had a problem in the past, she ran to gavin and didn't talk about it, just was with him. gavin wants to be the one she runs to with her problems with her family. as ally heals, she is still filled with nervous energy and wants to be doing things, rather than thinking about things. gavin has found his place in alaska, but ally is sure that her place is back home, and when gavin takes her back, he faces the fact that he might not be able to have both ally and alaska.
what i liked: that gavin knew what ally needed, even though they didn't have a "serious" relationship, that it was about sex. i liked that he was there when she ultimately needed him, and that he had found a contentment, even though he wasn't with the woman that he loved. i liked that ally was able to relax, even if she wasn't able to let go of her responsibilities. i also liked that, when she realized that she maybe didn't have to hold everything together like her mother had taught her, she was able to let go fairly easily.
what i didn't like: i didn't feel the connection between myself and the characters as much as the previous books. i felt that gavin and ally were a little bit more flat.
Gavin Montgomery is a man on a mission, the only women is about to be married to another man. He didn’t necessarily have a plan, but storming the wedding seemed like the course to take. Kidnapping the bride to be was just an added bonus, he did get her permission in a round a bout way though.
Gavin’s relationship with Allison “Allie” Ralston has always been easy, fun. He wants more, he wants it all. Now that Allie is in Alaska she takes time to find herself and what she finds is that she has yet to put herself first. Gavin wants Allie to be his everything, he wants to know the random things she is thinking, which is completely out of Allie’s comfort zone. Can she follow her heart to keep the one thing that means the most to her in the world, Gavin?
I've enjoyed this series, but found this book less compelling than the others. The hero and heroine did little for me, and once again I was irked by that romance novel assertion that condoms aren't necessary if it's true love and the heroine is on the pill. On the other hand, I kept reading to find out what happened with two of the background romances, one of which had been hinted at throughout the series. Neither came to a satisfactory conclusion, sadly. Definitely not a standalone book either: it's tricky enough keeping up with all the new characters introduced here, without having to figure out who all those people are that have already appeared in previous books.
Allie and Gavin each believe they are making rational decisions but it turns out to be for the wrong reasons. Hitched was an entertaining look at love and the things people do in the name of love. People do stupid things when matters of the heart are involved. Allie and Gavin were no exception to that rule. I enjoyed Hitched not because of the romance but because of the craziness it took to get Gavin and Allie to happily ever after. Had fun reading Erin Nicholas’ comedic look at love. I really wanted to like this book -- I'm a big Erin Nicholas fan, and I thought the premise was a good one. I just didn't like the execution of it as much as I thought I would.. There was just way too much inner dialogue and angst. And considering that the hero flew thousands of miles to stop the heroine from marrying the wrong guy, plus the history of there previous relationship, doubts about the future and nature of their relationship. Parts of the story seemed to drag, but then suddenly be resolved, and the heroine wavered between being strong and outspoken and being passive. Not my favorite by this author.
I had been (not so) patiently waiting for Hitched and it finally came out. I truly loved this story and it was the perfect ending to a fantastic series. I thoroughly loved Gavin the entire book. He was such a phenomenal man who was simply perfect for Allie. I loved the way they complemented each other. I have read all of Erin Nicholas' books and not once have I been disappointed. She is a superb writer and I will read every book she releases.
Well, after reading this I want to go to Alaska, for sure. I love Gavin and the way he takes care of Allie. I wasn't a fan of her, I'll be honest, but things have a way of working out. All in all this is a great ending to a fun series written by some collective talent! Start at the beginning, and enjoy the ride through this series. It's fun, and fast paced with lovable characters.
I loved the Characters and their stories in this series but the reason I gave this 3 stars was because the repeat of the wedding scene. This was repeated in each book word for word. It was also repeated from each characters point of view. By the time I got to the last book in this series I had enough and it had spoiled it for me.
