“From the moment I locked eyes with hers, we've had this undeniable connection that was and will always be wicked. A love that would literally kill me if it didn't survive, but lately, could kill me if it did.” ~Drake Evans.

For Drake and Presley, life has handed them more challenges than any one person should ever face in a lifetime. Together, they've survived Presley’s captivity from her deranged uncle, but now they must learn how to live with the events that surrounded her time spent with him, while keeping the details of her rescue a secret.

For Presley Quinn, living the last two years has been practically unbearable, constantly drowning in nightmares put there by a man responsible for the violent images continually playing in her mind. She keeps moving forward, but is barely clinging onto the edge when she’s faced with another obstacle from her past that is so unavoidable, so tragic, it threatens to break her apart—herself.

Drake will do anything to protect Presley from ever feeling pain again. His love is irrefutable. He walks side by side with her, vowing he will never let anyone harm her again. However, when an unexpected event turns Presley against everyone she’s ever loved, Drake is faced with trying to save the only woman he’s ever loved or severing the only lifeline she’s ever had—himself.

I needed some recuperation time before I started this review.

The first thing I will say is, Melissa, you are my f-ing hero right now. It takes a lot of courage to write what you did. This is a story that needs to be told. Wow... *crying* again

There is so much sad/bad, sadder/badder (I know that's not a word) and saddest/baddest things that happen in this book, it's unreal. Just when you think things start looking up *SLAM* more heartache.

At first, I was disappointed in Presley. I thought, as did she, that she was selfish. It was so hard to get over that first bump in the road. I literally walked away from the book too many times. It took me TWO DAYS just to get through the first 40 something pages. I just couldn't do it. Then, it started to get better.

But wait, because then Presley starts to make another damn mistake and then I hated her again. However, things start to come out, explanations are made, and that's when I felt so much despair for her.

Things start looking up for Presley, she's found her groove, released the demons from her world, is coping nicely, and again, tragedy strikes.

The last few pages of the book are complete, utter sadness. The hardest part of the book to get through, by far. I cried so damn much, wanting to walk away from the book, but won't because this is the worst moment and I just want to push through it. I want the misery to end.

I know some readers are going to be disappointed in this book, but hear me out. This is a story about some of the worst parts about life, living, and how to survive by letting family and friends in, letting them help you, being brave enough to admit your problems. Not everyone finds a happy ending, not every life goes through a trial or two and then it's sunshine and roses forever. This is about reality! And, it's not the end for Evans family. We will get to see more.

Oh. My. Gosh. I have so many feels after reading this. My heart hurts, but I'm so.. soo in love with the Sulfur Heights series. I loved Tragic Love. M.S. Brannon has completely captivated me with her characters and their stories. I absolute love every member of the Evan’s family. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first because Drake and Presley were present in Scarred Love and I thought I already knew their story. I thought a lot of the book would be recapping what I already kind of knew from Presley and Drake’s perspectives, but I discovered quickly that was not the case.

The story began after the events of Scarred Love, which was wonderful because everything I was getting was completely new to me. Never in a million years would I have guessed the direction of the story. It was unpredictable, gritty, shocking, heart wrenching, and dark. I thought I already knew Presley and Drake, but I quickly realized their personalities and stories were much more complex than I previously believed. They were so real and raw and passionate. I loved getting to know more and having a different point of view than the ones in Scarred Love. Getting into the heads of Presley and Drake was fascinating, but so was getting to know Darcy and Reggie outside of their points of view.

The author has such a talent for weaving such dark and raw stories with characters I truly care about and root for. I refuse to spoil a single second of the story, but it’s absolutely amazing. I’m excited for the release and I can’t wait for more of the Sulfur Heights series. I want to know everyone’s story! If you loved Scarred Love, Tragic Love is a must read. If you like New Adult contemporary romances with a lot of grit, attitude, and unforgettable characters, the Sulfur Heights series does not disappoint. I highly recommend it. Word of warning, though, Tragic Love's title is just as fitting as Scarred Love's title was.

Received an ARC for an honest review…

This is the second book in the Sulfur Heights series by MS Brannon. This is Drake and Presley’s story 2 years after she was rescued from her uncle’s ruthless abuse…

OMG!!! Where do I begin to tell you how I felt about this book….WRECKED!!! That’s how!!!

Presley is dealing with some serious issues in this book. From abuse to depression to an unwanted pregnancy to drugs….wow!! Such a whirlwind of emotions.

Drake is amazing, strong and will do anything for the love of his life and his family.

Delilah is a refreshing new character who just is so easy to love and loves everyone.

Jake’s battle with feelings never come to fruition in this book….or do they and we never know…

We finally get a little more of a glimpse into Jeremy’s quieter character…I CANNOT WAIT for his book!! He has me so intrigued!

Darcie and Reggie finally tie the knot in this book and are very strong role models to the rest of the Evans clan.

MS Brannon tells such a beautiful heart wrenching story here about how true love, although has many faults, will prevail in the end...

The end….not the typical ending we’ve all grown accustomed to, let me tell you that. I gave this book an amazing 5 stars!! This story is beautifully written and really deserves it! I cannot wait to see what new MS Brannon will bring us in Jake and Jeremy’s books!!!

*received copy from author for honest review*
Holy WOW! I cannot believe how amazing this book is, M.S. Brannon is an incredibly talented writer. I have to be completely honest, I purchased the first book in this series, "Scarred Love", because I wanted to know what I was going to be reading about before I started "Tragic Love". I was sucked right in and couldn't put it down, after reading "Scarred Love", I instantly fell in love with ALL of the characters that make up this amazing family. I just thought I would disclose the fact that I read both "Sulfur Heights, #1 & #2" in one sitting, without stopping for a potty break. "Tragic Love" was so good that even though M.S. Brannon gifted me a copy, I will be purchasing a copy as well, in support of her continued creativeness.
There were several times I caught spelling or grammatical errors, but they were so minor it didn't once take away from the story, and oh boy what a story it is! I cried, so be prepared with some tissues! The struggle and hardships that these beautiful young people have to go through is not anything that I would wish on my worst enemy. I know that there are people in the world that deal with these and similar situations in real life and I wish that I could do something to help all of them. "Tragic Love" is one amazingly powerful emotional rollercoaster.
The kids in this family are BEAUTIFUL, inside and out! I actually fell in love with all of the boys while reading the first book, but my two favorites from the start were Drake and Jake! So, I got lots of yum time while reading this book. Drake is one great man and so in tune with his emotions given he never had a real mother figure in his life. He is strong, confident and would do anything for the people he loves.
Presley, oh poor Presley, this book is written as two years after Darcie saves her from her tormenting, abusive, a**hole of an uncle. She is still dealing with so much and bottles it all up inside. She is coping in unhealthy ways, which isn't really coping at all and then she finds herself unwantedly pregnant. Oh man, I don't want to give any spoilers so I am going to stop there, but Presley has so much going on inside that she goes through and my heart ached for her the entire time. Through all her weaknesses she was still so incredibly strong.
The introduction on Presley's long time best friend, Delilah, is refreshing and upbeat. I instantly loved her and what she brings to the story and this family, she is a bubbly and very welcome addition. Delilah and Jake are perfect comedy and I can't wait to read a story about these two that shows what we are seeing a glimpse of between the lines of this book.
Jake, what can I say about Jake? He is the typical bad boy, loud mouth, womanizer on the outside, caring, and kind on the inside. He is the most complex so far and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, him! I can't get enough of his brashness and special brand of humor. He just brings out the best in all the others in his family and is always making everyone laugh. But he, like all his brothers, is always there for the people he loves.
Jeremey....Holy...yes please! I have to know more about this quiet guy. He is always been just there in the background, but in "Tragic Love" you get to see a bit more of what is behind his quiet and brooding nature...I need more!!!
Darcie and Reggie finally get married and I could not be more thrilled! Those two were born to love each other, and as crazy as it sounds I can see Darcie becoming a mother at some point (but I don't think it will happen), she has all the protectiveness and fierce love for motherhood. Or maybe she just ends up being waaaay more involved in helping with Mia.
This series is more than I can describe so I will just continue to say AMAZING! I can't wait to continue reading about the Evans family and see what happens next, because that ending was NOT what I saw coming and I was HOOKED from page one of "Scarred Love" and have a compulsion to see the "Sulfur Heights" series all the way through!!!!

Wow, I am emotionally WRECKED right now with snot & tears. I had to ponder a day or so before writing my review. Lets just say this book fits its title "Tragic Love".

It starts around 2 yrs later from Scarred Love. This is Drake Evans and Presley Quinn's story.

This series is not for the faint of heart. You have to understand by reading a novel from any author, we cannot always get a HEA. I know that a lot of people use reading to escape but we do need to keep it interesting. I love Brannon's Sulfur Heights Series because she offers these different types of writing styles to her readers.

We get to know Drake a whole lot more in this story of course and I think he is the sweetest of them all and after reading this book, could possibly be the strongest through all the trials and tribulations he had to face with Presley to the end.

Presley faces her past demons and she uses sex and drugs to hide her pain. I don't want to give to much of the story but get ready with lots of ice cream and tissues.

You get to be introduced to Presley's southern belle best friend Delilah which I fell in love with. She is always there for Presley through the hardest times. There is definitely some tension between her and Jake that is building and cannot wait for their story in Blind Love.

Reggie and Darcie do get married in this book and you get some updates on them throughout Tragic Love.

Jeremy, well, I am so curious about him that it is driving me insane. He is always quiet but has the best wisecrack phrases when he does speak up.

“From the moment I locked eyes with hers, we've had this undeniable connection that was and will always be wicked. A love that would literally kill me if it didn't survive, but lately, could kill me if it did.” ~Drake Evans.

I would rate this book a 4.5! Just like the first book in this series, this one grabbed me. I love the relationships between these colorful characters. This book demonstrates that you don't have to be a conventional family to be a family. This story centers around Drake and Presley. They have a very deep love and connection for such a young couple. Presley has lived through a lot of hardships in her young life - her parents died, she was abused by her uncle, and she has always suffered from depression. Drake is her lifeline. She needs him to breathe. Events take place that put their relationship in jeopardy. This book shocked me ! I won't give anymore details away...I don't want to spoil it!
I will say that this author writes an engaging story that leaves me wanting more. I will absolutely be reading the third book in this series (Blind Love).

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review. You are introduce to the entire Evans family in the first book called Scarred Love. In this book we explore the love of Presley and Drake. Presley like Darcie suffered abuse and pain. This book follows may teenage issues that can arise with a romance and downfalls, I do not want to give anything away for those who want to read the book. I will say that this book is more grown up than Scarred Love is and is a heart-wrenching read form both Drake and Presley’s point of view. This book does not have a happy ending and you may need a box of tissues be warned!

I'm a little numb as I write this review. This was a book that was both hard to read and impossible to set down.

The author paints the emotions in such vivid detail that I found myself walking through this story with Drake and Presley. Every heartbreaking, uplifting, redeeming, tragic moment was sunk into me as the words flowed across the page to an ending that not everyone will be happy with, but is not an actual ending. Like life, it is another beginning on the heals of something unforgettable.

To say love conquers all doesn't accurately describe Presley and Drake. I do feel love their love is the reason two such young kids could survive the horror Presley endured at the hands of her uncle.

This writer takes you on a journey of emotional highs and lows that only can occur in the gritty town of Sulfur Heights. It is impossible to read this book without feeling the emotions the ccharacters are experiencing. This amazing story will suck you in from the beginning and have you eagerly anticipating what will happen next.

This book was so good. I love the story of Drake and Presley. However, there is a lot of heartache in this book so be prepared to cry. I had my popcorn and chocolate with me to make it through this book. The series is so captivating and I can't wait to read more. I would give more detail about the book but I'm afraid I might give something away and this is not one I want to ruin for anybody. But trust me when I say it was amazing.

What can I say about Drake and Presley? Just that this story is heartbreakingly beautiful. Brannon was able to capture the tortured pain of depression and the wondrous miracle of love that can heal and bring light those trapt in the darkness. This was definitely something I would love to reread all over again. I'll just make sure to have the kleenex ready.

Drake may have been a womanizer, but one look at Presley and he was mesmerized. The connection and the attraction were undeniable. Theirs was a love so strong both of them thought it could conquer anything.

For a young age, both of them have been through hell and back. It was too much to handle, but both of them had survived. There were scars, most of them have already healed but would always leave a mark. As for Presley, most of her scars were still bleeding. It has been two years but nightmares would still come to haunt her at night. Her uncle’s face would show up, taunting her as if he were still alive. She tries to move on, taking baby steps – one step at a time. Good thing she has Drake who would move heaven and earth for him…

Her past has always dark, and tragic, and when it comes back stronger than ever, even Drake would have to rearrange the planets to make her feel okay. His love may be true and unconditional and he’s willing to walk through fire for her, protecting her with everything that he has – but the unexpected trial in their relationship MAY bring an end to their relationship. It was so grave that even Drake didn’t see it coming.

At first, I was like…

How did it come to THAT?! They were okay. Drake and Presley were doing just fine. Then suddenly it all went rock bottom.

Of all the possible problems, of all the possible conflicts I can ever guess before I started reading this story, the plot hadn’t really crossed my mind…I can’t believe it would come to this… I can’t believe I could end up loathing Presley. I hated her as the pages goes b. It was a struggle to continue – my mind was so confused, my heart was badly aching. It went on and on, and on – until one tragedy happened after the other. I wonder how in the world did it turn out to be this bad?

It took one single problem to have their strong relationship almost crumbling down into pieces, and it took a whole lot of hard work, trust, and honesty to build it back again. They (most especially Presley) might have done some unthinkable things, and may have made some unwise decisions, but in the end she had redeemed herself when she finally wanted the change and asked for help. Just when everything seems to be in place, another tragedy struck. A kind of tragedy I didn’t see coming despite the title of the book. Something that broke my heart in the process. Argh…

Thank goodness for their friends and family who have been more than just a support system to the both of them. Delilah, her best friend appeared in the story. She and Jake started out to be frenemies, but ended up to be close even when she returned to Memphis. I like the both of them, because when things get heavy, and they appear in the story – both of them tends to make me smile. I just wonder if she will give Jake a chance…

The ending had me in shock. I couldn’t move. I have re-read it several times just to make sure. But it was how it ended. WOW. Unbelievable. Shocking. Different. OUCH. Surprise was an understatement. Nevertheless, I would still prefer this ending than the alternate one which is also found at the end of the book. This just showed how strong Drake is, despite all the trials and tribulations fate has thrown at him. He might get broken, he might be hurting – but he can surpass it all, not just because of his love for Presley but for another person who greatly reminds him that despite all the loss he had, he is still loved and needed.

Tragic Love emotional, tragic, surprising and different. M.S. Brannon might have left me in awe of Scarred Love, but this one, she had left me speechless. I can’t say I enjoyed reading it – because my heart was constantly in pain, nevertheless, it was worth my time. It had given me the unexpected. I greatly look forward for Jake’s or Jeremy’s story.

Love. It's a powerful emotion and can bring the strongest person to their knees, completely overtaken by it. The moment I met you, I collapsed at your feet, willing to do everything and be anything you've ever wanted.

Wow!! And I thought book one in this series was dark. But Tragic Love takes that darkness to a whole new level. How absolutely fitting is that title, because this book is filled with tragic moments. From start to finish, this story will have you wondering when these characters will possibly catch a break and have some good shine on their lives.

Drake and Presley were connected from the moment that they met. They both knew that for them, this was it. They were each others future. They were the happily ever after that everyone hopes to find. But life for Presley turned cruel and twisted and she has a darkness living inside her. Two years on and the memories of her horrible past are all very real and very raw. She tries her hardest to overcome it all, but she keeps all her feelings bottled up and hidden. Slowly it's eating away at Presley and that girl that Drake fell in love with is disappearing before his eyes.

You are my love, my life. I've often said to myself you're the very reason I breathe, every gasp of air that fills my lungs is put there because of you.

I can't say that I was a huge Presley fan for most of this book. Her pain was so completely evident and I felt so much sympathy and heartache for her, but, I love Drake. And he suffers so much throughout this book. His suffering is very different to Presley's, but it's no less real. He carries around all the burdens for what Presley is dealing with. He always seemed to take the blame for things. If only he didn't do that, or if he did this, if he listened more, if he didn't get angry... But I felt that his reactions to things for the most part were pretty spot on. You cannot save someone unless they want to be saved.

When I read that ending I was devastated that the author could end it that way. That wasn't at all how I pictured things going. That wasn't the way that I envisioned things in my head. But then the author included an alternate ending. A different way that she considered ending things. And that was even worse. Thank god for not ending things that way. I really don't think I could have continued with the series if it went that way. And so here I sit, with my head spinning in so many directions trying to take it all in.

One of the things that I love about this author is that she's not afraid to take things to a dark place. Sometimes, much darker than my heart can handle, but things are definitely never dull and boring during this series, that's for sure.

And while I've spoken about all the tragedy, there are moments of light peppered throughout, but I would say, grab onto those moments and enjoy them because all too quickly they are over with.

On the downside, there are a few grammatical errors such as wrong words used, words running together and spelling mistakes. But not so many as to distract from the story. But this is just one of things I seem to pick up on really easily when reading, so it did stand out a bit to me.

I found myself with a deeper connection with the characters this time around. Coupled with the authors ability to capture and hold me with her gripping and heartbreaking story, I will continue to take the journey with these characters as they hopefully all work towards their happily ever afters.

Talk about getting dark and dirty. M.S. Brannon doesn’t hold anything back when she shows how depression affects not just the one afflicted but everyone who loves them.

Presley knows all about being in a dark place. That’s basically been her life since she was a little girl. Even when she had parents who loved her, she had a sadness inside that wouldn’t go away. Battling depression, she withheld food from herself to diminish the pain, finally being institutionalized for anorexia and depression. If she could create a stronger ache, the darkness in her head could be held at bay. When she lost her parents and moved to Sulfur Heights, Drake became her knew escape. But holding in the secrets of what her uncle did to her is starting to become too much, even with the distraction Drake creates. When something new and unexpected enters the picture, Presley feels like Drake’s devotion is divided and she turns to something stronger to help her hide from her head.

Drake loves Presley more than he loves the air he breathes but how much can a young man juggling two jobs and a world of responsibility take? Can he save Presley and will he recognize her when all is said and done?

TRAGIC LOVE dealt with a ton of dark issues and wasn’t afraid to really dig in and explore. When Presley battled addiction I could truly understand what it must feel like even after the withdrawals are long gone. The never-ending ache, the pull to escape when something bad happens. I could completely understand, sympathize, and empathize with everything Presley went through—and trust me, it was a lot. I am extremely impressed with M.S. Brannon’s ability to describe feelings and emotions in a way that allows anyone reading to become one with the character, no matter how different the character’s reality is from their own.

Honestly, the only thing keeping me from giving TRAGIC LOVE 5 stars was the tendency to fast-forward through several weeks or even months at a time throughout the book. Obviously with something like depression, addiction, and the other obstacles Presley faced, a lot of time needs to pass by for us to really experience everything she goes through; but I felt like that same necessity held me slightly removed, like I wasn’t 100 percent in the moment because we had to cover so much time in one book.

I cried, ached, and hoped for Drake, Presley, and the entire Evans family and am really looking forward to Jake and Delilah’s story in BLIND LOVE. I thought the glimpses into a possible relationship between Jake and Delilah were really nicely done without being overkill. Even more than my interest in Jake and Delilah, I’m so intrigued by the mysterious Jeremy and I can’t wait to see what is really behind his secret phone calls and quiet demeanor. I’m hoping to see some happiness for the Evans family in spite of their obstacles, but I know I’ll enjoy the darkness along the way.

If I could give Tragic Love 10 stars, I would do it!!!! I absolutely love books that are still with me after I have finished the last page, and this one ABSOLUTELY DID!!!! It is one of my all-time favorite books.
We return to Sulfur Heights for the love story of Drake and Presley that we only got a small glimpse of in Scarred Love. Presley is dealing with the aftermath of being held captive by her psychotic uncle. Even though he is dead and won’t be able to hurt her again, she is still dealing with the terrifying aftermath of her ordeal. Drake has also had his fair share of darkness and terror, and he is doing everything he can to help Presley cope and return to the land of the living. As she makes progress, it seems the darkness just gets stronger and threatens to take her away forever from the one man who is the key to her salvation. The question remains will Presley allow Drake to pull her from her dark hole and show her the light and happiness that can be hers, or will she completely surrender herself to the darkness and lose the very person who loves her unconditionally?

This book had me experiencing every emotion under the sun! I went from happiness and joy to a complete blubbering mess. All I can say is M.S. Brannon has done it again. Her writing is so raw and real. She never sugar coats anything or even promises us that everything will end like we want it to. BUT, I LOVE THAT ABOUT HER!!!! She again deals with raw and real issues in life. In Tragic Love, she delves into abuse, depression, unplanned pregnancy, drug issues, love, loss, and survival. Those are a whole host of issues that any less talented writer wouldn’t be able to deal with in a single story, and she not only deals with them but knocks it out of the park! Readers also get to see more into the Evans’ history and more of our favorite characters. We get to see how Darcie and Reggie are doing. And, we get to see more of the yummy Jake and Jeremy. We are also introduced to Delilah who is Presley’s childhood friend who helps in her recovery. This sets up nicely for Presley’s past problems and how it affects her future.

The ending was not one I would have ever expected or maybe not even liked. But yet again, in M.S. Brannon’s talented hands, it completely works and sets the scene for the next book which features favorite yummy bad boy, Jake. She is an author that is at the top of my list of author’s to watch. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next. GREAT JOB!!!!

Tragic Love is Book 2 in the Sulfur Heights series. After reading Scarred Love (Book 1), I could not wait to read this one.

This book is Drake and Presley’s story and boy is this one heart-wrenching roller coaster ride! The story begins two years after Scarred Love ends. While the book mainly focuses on Drake and Presley, we do get some insight on the ever so quiet Jeremy as well as Jake, Presley’s best friend Delilah and of course Reggie and Darcie too.

Drake and Presley’s are in a relationship now are getting really serious about a future together. Presley’s best friend from Memphis, Delilah, comes to stay the summer with the Evans family. Everything seems to be going well for Presley. She has the perfect boyfriend and a loving support system with the others. What everyone doesn’t notice is that Presley’s demons are dragging her down a tragic path. Drake eventually starts to notice things aren’t quite right with her when she starts pulling away from him. Presley dark path leads her to make some bad decisions and continually lie to her family. Her decisions eventually led to some serious consequences that affect her and the family..

Drake is one of those passionately loyal and protective men. He deeply loves Presley and will do anything for her. When she starts pulling away, he’s not sure what’s going on. He decides to throw himself into his work and focus on make a better life for them. Things eventually come to a head and the outcome was not what I was expecting.

I honestly did not like Presley in this book. I know she had been through some very traumatic things, but I felt like she was weak. Granted, I have never been through anything close to that, but I just felt with the amazing support system she had that she would have tried harder to cope. I felt like she should have leaned on them instead of pulling away. I can’t say for sure that I would have either, but I hope I would.

This was one of the most beautifully written tragedies I have ever read. M.S. Brannon gripped my heart from the beginning and held it tight throughout the whole book. This book deals with some tough issues that you may find in romance novels often, but she took it a step further when writing about it. The pain, anger, sadness, hopelessness, despair, and love will put your heart through the ringer while reading. I highly recommend this book!

I have to admit I wasn't really sure how much I was going to like this book, and when I finished the book, I was even more unsure of whether I liked it or not. It has been several hours since I finished and honestly, it is still consuming my thoughts, so I say that constitutes a great read! If you haven't read Scarred Love, the first book in the series, see our review here. The first book was really good too. But I have to say that if you don't enjoy some intense, happy go lucky reads, these are probably not for you.

The story begins with Drake and Presley a couple of years after the "Robert" situation. Everyone seems to be doing great. Drake is working and being his typical responsible self and Presley is excited to see her friend Delilah from Memphis. As the story unfolds, however, you quickly assess that Presley is drowning in her mental health issues. The book was really difficult for me to read, especially since I can't imagine having to face demons like she has had in her life. There were times I was so mad at her character and truthfully her friends as well, that I had to put the book down.

When Drake discovers Presley's secrets and her betrayal to him he is broken. Deservedly so, but it broke my heart to watch the two of them have to struggle to make it in life. I mean, they both have been hammered with bad luck there entire life! Someone give them a break already! I honestly, don't want to give to much away with the review, so lets just say that this book will break your heart, give you hope and evoke a ton of emotions.

If you are brave and are looking for a fantastic read that is anything but typical, give Tragic Love a try today! I am so looking forward to beginning Blind Love tonight. I love Delilah's character and know its going to be one heck of a roller coaster ride.

Book 2 of the Sulfur Heights Series tells us the story of Drake and Presley and let me tell you, it is a totally different story than Reggie and Darcie's story.

Drake and Presley go down a real dark and scary path.... The ups and downs of teenage pregnancy and drug addiction.

The story picks up 3 years after Reggie saves her life from her crazy estranged uncle, Robert Stein, who was also Darcie's step father and the person he saved Darcie from. Reggie was granted her legal guardian and she moves in with him, Darcie and the Evans boys.

Presley for the last 3 years has been having nightmares of her time with her uncle and the 2 weeks he held her captive in his abandoned house. Not knowing what to do about them, she bottles it all up and turns to Drake, the touch and feel of him being around becoming her safe haven. But Drake is left in the dark about her nightmares.

Her best friend Delilah from her hometown of Memphis, TN comes to live with her and the Evans family while interning in Sulfur Heights.

Not long after Delilah comes to stay with them does Presley soon find out some not so exciting news and from there it all goes downhill. Drake and Presley soon find their lives turned completely upside down.

This story has it's happy moments and it's sad moments. I cried at the end. Some happy tears but at the very end mostly sad tears.

I really loved this story but just as the title, it is a Tragic Love. So prepare yourself! When I finished this book I was sad for more than one reason. I hope to hear more on Drake in the future.

M.S Brannon is a great author. Her style of writing and storytelling grips you. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity of reading and doing a review before it was released. Thank you for trusting me Melissa! I love your stories and look forward to many more!

If you read Scarred Love then you know these books have a dark, edgier nature to them and love or hate them they get to you. Sulfur Heights is the bottomless pit the Evans family have grown up in and you either sink or swim in their world but one thing is for sure and that's they always stick together.

In the previous book you read about Presleys past and the hellish time she spent with her Uncle but in this installment you see the repercuttions of those events and how they've shaped her as a person. It's told from her and Drakes p.o.v. but it is predominatly about her and her struggles with severe depression, a mental health issue that all of us know about but unless you've experienced it yourself you just don't realise how it can completely encompass your life.

The are numerous twists and turns, some of which you could see coming and others where you were just blown away. The ending was heart wrenching and I actually cried which is something I never do with a book unless I really connect with it.
Some areas were slightly long winded and maybe did't need to be told from both characters perspectives but it still worked. Tough issues were raised but the world isn't black and white and not everyone gets their happily ever after.
I'm of mixed thoughts about the ending but I think it was true to the Sulfur Heights Series and what it represents. M.S. Brannon is telling the story of the seedier side of society where people have to see the roses out of the shit to be frank.

I have hope for Drake in the future and can't wait to see more of the mysterious Jeremy as I think he seems to be the true Knight in shining armour..

The only real flaw in these wonderfully dark romances is the editing errors as I think if the books were abit more polished they could be real gems.

Gritty, raw, honest, nothing is sugar coated in this story. This is a very real look at the struggles of living and finding your way in this world. Presley has survived so much in 19 years and now has to deal with the aftermath of Robert's abuse. As she works to build a relationship with Drake, all of the horror weighs her down but she is afraid to tell anyone after being ridiculed as a child for battling depression. Drake is this amazing soul that has survived neglect and found his place in the Evans family, meeting Presley gave him the air he needs to breathe. I had my moments of frustration with Presley since she wouldn't talk to anyone but at the same time it all made sense, we all have doubts and struggles to which she was doing the best she could to survive. Did she make some bad decisions? In my viewpoint yes but in the context of who she is and what she has dealt with, no, she was doing what she needed to make it through each day. Delilah, Presley's best friend from Memphis, is a breath of fresh air to the Evans family. She really rattles Jake's cage and we start to see him find a better footing with his life. Reggie and Darcie are the rocks of the family and we get to experience their bliss. Jeremy remains pretty mysterious but at the same time starts to come out of his shell and show his support more openly to individual family members. M.S. Brannon has given us a wonderfully complex and diverse look at family demonstrating that a blood connection is not required. You will need your tissues with this installment and I would describe it as tragically beautiful love.

Stock up on Kleenex...you will need it!

One of the most emotionally real stories I have ever read. I loved Presley and Drake but be warned this is not a sticky sweet nauseating love story...it is real, gritty, and totally consuming. This is the second book that I have read by this talented author and I can't wait to read the rest of this series.

Drake and Presley... a tragic love story. There are many heartbreaking scenes that are hard to read but yet I was unable to put it down. I was never quite sure where the author was going next..had me constantly guessing. Sometimes I guessed correctly others I was shocked to where the story ended up.

There were some editing errors but not enough that it threw me off the story. The love between this family and in their relationships is so strong that you can feel it in your heart when you read about them. When the Evan's men love they love hard and forever. I liked that Drake was so strong and emotionally available to Presley as well as how Presley's issue was a family issue not just her own. They were all in it together and that after-all is what family is all about.

This is the second book in the series. In my opinion you will want to read the first book "Scarred" prior to reading this one; if for nothing else but to get a feeling as to who all of these characters are and what they are about. Great read and at a great price right now.

Tragic Love was exactly what the title implies and truly was an emotional roller coaster. I loved it!!! I need to go back and read Reggie and Darcie's story in book 1 and continue on with books 3 and 4 in the series now, especially with how this one ended. I was truly amazed with how many emotions I felt when reading this book.

Drake was a strong male character and will probably become even stronger in the upcoming books. He really went through a lot throughout his life but nothing seemed to prepare him for the events that happened with Presley. Presley was a weaker character but still likable. I generally prefer a stronger female character but she had enough personality to carry through even with the huge mistakes she makes along the way.

Drake and Presley had great chemistry but I'm glad that the intimate scenes in the book did not take away from the main storyline which was more about their relationship and the trials they faced together. I don't want to say too much more because the synopsis is vague in description which was perfect for me going into it. There was a lot of support from Drake's family and Presley's friend and it made the book even better to see the love shared.

I highly recommend this book to those who like to "feel" real emotions, even darker ones. The author really delved into these characters and I think this will be a great series.

I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book was such an emotional rollercoaster and I loved it! Drake is such a loving and loyal person, and you fall even more in love with him in this book.
The book starts two years after where Scarred Love ends. Presley and Drake have been dating for the last year and things have gotten very serious. When Presley's friend Delilah comes to town, Presley feels like life couldn't get any better. Well besides the nightmares she's been having, but she couldn't be more wrong. The nightmares have been getting worse and she doesn't feel like she can talk to anyone about what she's feeling. That's when she starts to do things that may completely ruin her and Drake's relationship.
Drake has been feeling Presley pulling away from him, and doesn't know how to fix it. He has been trying to work so hard hard to give her whatever she needs and get a place of their own. After he finds out what she's been hiding, will he be able too forgive and forget? Will Drake and Presley get their happy ever after?
This book definitely kept you guessing what happens next. M.S. Brannon does a fantastic job of writing such a suspenseful, and heart wrenching book. I can only imagine what the next book will be like. This is a definitely a MUST READ, and I will be recommending to all my friends and fellow book lovers!

Drake and Presley have been put through the wringer. With the abuse and torment of her Uncle still hanging over Presley's head she is having a tough time getting back to where she was. Drake is trying everything he can to help Presley but when she won't talk to him and keeps things hidden; Drake is torn apart and doesn't know what to do.

Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock gave me Tragic Love by M.S. Brannon for a review! And Thank the heavens! I don't want to say much more than that but HOLY SHIT! Even though I cried and cheered and broke emotionally all over again I love this book. I will warn you though there isn't a HEA, and that may turn some people off, but like the author said sometimes life doesn't have a HEA. I am so glad she didn't use the alternative ending because I don't think I could have continued if that had been the ending. This series isn't for the faint of heart or the type that love HEA and easy going love stories. This series is flat out full on emotional roller coaster that doesn't stop until all your emotions are laid flat on the ground! So enjoy! :)

I received it in exchange of an honest review...I am still crying while i write this review... I can't believe it, i wasn't expecting any of it! What a book, what a story! A deeply emotional and truly tragic roller coster ride! So well written, with such amazing characters, the Evans family continues to touch my heart and i think this time my soul! Scarred Love was the first book with Darcie and Reggie's story and despite them still being here, they're in the backseat in this one. The truly dark stars of Tragic Love are Drake and Presley! What can i say other than this book will make you smile, frown, laugh at times, really cry, turn you inside out and shatter your heart! Addictive, heartbreaking, truly and deeply tragic it's impossible to put down! It will make you feel blessed, lucky and guilty to take life and all its pleasure for granted! Despite my tears and sorrow i can't help wanting to know what happens next! This serie is a Must Read!!!! M.S. Brannon chapeau bas, it's on its way to be a master piece!!!
